The
Hord
museum
was
built
to
preserve
the
history
of
the
fish
farm
in
central
and
northern
Hordland.
Here
you
will
find
old
houses
from
various
places,
e.g.
FjellskĂĄl
on
Osterøy,
set
up
in
almost
historically
correct
cluster
gardens
of
various
types.
A
schoolhouse
from
about
1870
in
Seim
in
LindĂĄs
municipality.
A
forge
and
a
general
store,
in
addition
to
various
boathouses.
The
town
also
has
rich
finds
from
earlier
times,
including
a
burial
mound
and
the
remains
of
an
Iron
Age
boathouse.
As
of
today,
the
houses
are
not
open,
but
you
can
take
a
walk
in
the
area
and
see
them
from
the
outside.
In
the
museum
building,
you
will
find
a
fantastic
exhibition
of
boats,
fishing
equipment
such
as
fishing
boxes,
handicrafts,
wagons,
traveling
ships
and
agricultural
machine
miniatures.
In
addition
to
wonderful
tapestries
with
motifs
from
Gerhard
Munthe
by
Ragna
Breivik.
In
the
boat
hall
you
will
find
a
rich
exhibition
of
boats,
both
reproductions
of
finds
from
the
Iron
Age,
but
also
several
boats
of
various
kinds,
including
oselvar,
Nordhordland
boats,
etc.
I
am
qualified,
because
I
have
worked
at
the
museum.
