Absolutely amazing. I started reading about this monument at a different museum and instantly told myself, I HAVE TO GO. Probably one of the best decisions I made while visiting Berlin. The sheer size and cleanliness is also amazing. This is a must see if you are in Berlin.

I went to the Soviet War Memorial in Treptower Park in the summer of 2022 and I found it to be one of the most beautiful war memorials I’ve ever seen. As you can walk towards to the memorial from the park you will come across an archway with text written in Russian and German which translates, in English, to; “GREAT FEATS, YOUR IMMORTAL THE GLORY OF YOU WILL SURVIVE CENTURIES THE MEMORY OF YOU WILL SAVE THE HOMELAND FOREVER.” The memorial itself consists of two giant red granite Soviet Union flags at one side, 16 stone sarcophagi which represents each of the 16 Soviet Republics of the time, each engraved with a quote from Joseph Stalin, which translates to; “Now all recognize that the Soviet people with their selfless fight saved the civilisation of Europe from fascist thugs. This was a great achievement of the Soviet people to the history of mankind.” At the other end a massive statue of a soviet soldier holding a child in one hand with a sword in the other, crushing a swastika with his boot. The sheer size of the monument is breathtaking and I found myself sat at the top of the stairs looking over everything in awe. Amazing experience and I recommend everyone visiting Berlin to go visit the diver war memorial In Treptower Park.

I have wanted to see this memorial from back when I was a child and first heard the story behind the main statue. It was definitely emotional for me. I hope this memorial endures in spite of the political climate nowadays. Mixed feelings on seeing the modern revolutionary Russian flag used in the memorial wreath underneath the statue, as this is a memorial to all Soviet heroes that perished and should be kept apart from modern politics.

When I went, there were some repairs going on, to tidy up the surrounding stone work, but the main items were all visible and could get right up to them. Very interesting, and there were signs to inform you of what it was and why it was built. The actual stonework is in russian and german, but there is a information board with information in russian english and german. The entrance wasn’t clearly sign posted, as the main one was closed for repair so it took a while to find it but the surrounding area is lovely with the trees and the lake. I would recommend this to anyone who is visiting berlin and is interested in the war.

Huge memorial with massive statues. 7,000 Soviet troops are buried at this memorial. The main statue of the soldier holding the young child is massive and imposing. The concrete mosaics with battle scenes that line both sides memorial are very interesting. This is well worth the time to visit when in Berlin.

I think the memorial is one of the most striking public memorials I have ever visited. . Its very hard to explain how you feel when you're there but you neither like it or hate you just need to see it. . The memorial screams power and is very raw.. nothing like anything you find in the UK that's for sure. . The Treptower park (site of memorial) is one of the best examples of a public park in my opinion. . I definitely think this is worth seeing even if it's not necessarily to your usual taste

Easy train ride to the Treptow park. This memorial is very impressive. It’s a huge area with multiple statues and beautiful trees. There are inscriptions in Russian (I assume) and German. This is a pretty memorial to the Soviet war/soldiers.

    I cannot resist adding my completely redundant pictures and review. I usually stay away from all memorials that glorify war and the heroic efforts to kill each other. This memorial is in your face with plenty of militaristic stone carvings, intimidating size and pathos. I am not used to seeing the Russian view of things and found this gigantic memorial rather interesting.Это есть наш последний И решительный бой;

Went as it was getting dark and there is no lighting at this monument at all! Other than that it's what you can expect from a Soviet monument, minimal architecture and big but a bit bleak. There's some texts about what happened from J. Stalin himself both in German and Russian so I do advise to come prepared if you can't read those.

It’s odd to review a soviet monument but I’ll try. The composition is great but the whole territory is not accessible. I saw how mothers where lifting the strollers and it’s not okay. I was there on the 9th of may. I was just curious what was going on there but I saw people bullying Ukrainians. And I was shocked. Police did nothing to protect Ukrainians and didn’t arrest anyone with Russian/Soviet flags (it was forbidden to show them in public on 09/05).

One of the must see places in Berlin. Quite busy on special days like the 9th of may etc, but usually a calm place. Take some time to digest the history and personal stories on display and soak in the atmosphere. Afterwards have a snack or drink at the waterfront nearby.

Amazing place. Has really a high energy and it's really beautiful and peaceful. Lots of memories for those gone in the war. If you want to see some more about the Sovietics, go to the Memorial next to the Brandenburger Tot. You can see some sovietic tanks and another beautiful memorial with all the names lost in the war.

My Russian colleague told me about this place and then we found out from Wikipedia that there are 2 more Soviet War Memorials located in Pankow and Tiergarten. The place is peaceful, you can walk around, read a book or just sit down, thinking about your future plans or have a deep conversation if you have a companion.

(Translated by Google) One of the symbols of Berlin and anti-fascism in the world, I recommend visiting it when someone is passing nearby or you want to go individually because you really see this place. In the park, we can find many reliefs depicting fertile battle scenes of a Soviet soldier in World War II as well as, surprisingly, not removed quotes from Józef Wisarianowicz and his predecessor. However, you can enter the monument to the Soviet soldier and see a huge mosaic. As a curiosity I would like to add that the banners at the entrance are made of marble from the remains of the interior of the New Reich Chancellery. (Original) Jeden z symboli Berlina i antyfaszyzmu na świecie, polecam go odwiedzić gdy ktoś będzie przejeżdżał niedaleko albo chciał by się wybrać indywidualnie bo naprawdę zobaczyć tę miejsce.

(Translated by Google) Even if I am absolutely no friend of communism and the Soviet Union, one has to take off my hat to this imposing and well-kept monument. Especially in Germany and the entire western hemisphere, where monuments are rather smeared, torn down or removed in night-and-fog actions instead of objectively dealing with them, something like this is rare.

I’ve run loops around the park several times before realizing what was situated in the center of Treptower! This is a massive, hulking monument to the soldiers of the Red Army who lost their lives fighting fascism in the Battle of Berlin. I arrived midday on a weekday & nearly had the place to myself. Must-see for history enthusiasts & a solemn place to visit & give thanks for the crushing defeat of Nazi Germany.

In view of the current "Russian phobia" in Germany, we should not forget the sacrifices the Soviet people made for us in liberation from fascism. In terms of traffic, Treptower Park is easily accessible by S-Bahn. A maybe 10 minute walk is still ahead of you. The park is wonderfully designed and also suitable for a family outing. A visit that is definitely worth it. (Translated by Google) The open mausoleum is currently undergoing restoration. The entrance is a bit confusing due to multiple gates that prevent the passage through the usual entrances. Inside you can see people walking, so that access is open but it is currently unclear how to enter. It is a majestic space built by the Soviets at the time of the Russian occupation and later DDR. More than 5000 soldiers killed at the Berlin siege are buried there. It is a place that reminds us of the importance of not forgetting that human beings can generate tragic situations such as war. Worth a visit. The vastness of this park makes it an ideal place for biking. The park is well-designed and pays tribute to the 80,000 soviet soldiers who died in the battle of Berlin. The Soviet War Memorial was built in 1949. The Berlin TV Tower can be seen from the park. The monuments and statues are beautifully made and they’re well worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) Treptow Park is both a park and a mass grave and a monument for the entire Slavic people. Huge banners were collected from parts of the Reichstag building on the personal order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief J.V. Stalin. There are also many different sculptures, various kinds of stucco moldings, quotes and catch phrases. Of course, a huge mound and a monument to a soldier of the working red peasant army with a German child saved during the hostilities in Berlin and holding a sword in his hand with a swastika cut, which symbolizes the victory over fascism, is just incredibly impressive. Before that, I saw pictures in textbooks at school, after photos on the Internet, but to see them live is something! We were here for about two hours and during this time we saw four times police patrols, families with children walking and people who came to honor the memory of the victims. fresh flowers and wreaths laid in different parts of the park prove that this feat will not be forgotten. ETERNAL MEMORY TO HEROES! THEIR FEAT IS FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS.
