Great stay overall and with some minor tweaks, this place will be fantastic! First, the location is fantastic with amazing views of the valley below. The staff are all eager to help and quite easy to see that. The concept of a converted jail is certainly interesting and now feels like an upscale museum of sort, in a good way. Signs of how the jail used to look like are noticeable. We did not dine at the restaurant and sad we did not as it looked quite nice. To offer some constructive criticism, as I’m sure they want to improve, being a new hotel, I’ll list a few that I’ve notice needing improvements. Our room had no outlets next to the bed and this is just silly not to have. Understandably it’s a historic old building and these minor things could have been taken care of during the remodel. Luckily the front desk had an extension cord. Only 3-4 rooms have air conditioning so BE SURE you get a room that has it during the hotter days, like now. The staff brought up 2 noisy fans that were quickly fixed and was helpful to have a fan, but ac is just really needed. The pool has no shade umbrellas and this is just such an easy fix. It’s the end of July and it’s ridiculously sunny. The shower only has a handheld nozzle and no upper shower head, which is quite odd. Lastly, with all the history of this previous jail, there should be a bit of information given to the guests, or maybe a brochure of some of the past prisoners with their pictures and cell number. I mean quite a few of us are visiting for the nostalgia and the quirkiness being a jail, so a bit of history would be nice. Other than these small items, great place to visit. Lastly, parking is not easy around here so be warned!

A great stay. Located at Beziers best viewing point overlooking the river and canal with ranging mountains beyond. The room was comfy and well fitted and the whole hotel was true to its original function. I didn't try the restaurant as the town is full of bars and restaurants. A pool is provided and a novelty.....

This place was a great surprise ! We were in south of France and saw this new opening, the concept is so different, however they did a great job, you don't feel at all the "prison" vibe. The building is beautiful and, service and restaurant amazing ! Would recommend

Quirky but... A fledgling venture, recently opened in Jun 23 I believe, with potential. However, a number of the pieces are missing in this puzzle! Start with some positives; great location in the town centre, great views from the bar/restaurant, unique concept for a hotel. However there are several 'bits' that are missing from a good hotel experience! We enquired about parking prior to arrival and were given details of the public parking 10 mins away, nothing on the website. Given the historic location of the hotel, we understood the parking limitations but were annoyed not to be told the you could drive up to drop your luggage off! The reception was pleasant & helpful (unlike comments noted on other reviews). Many aspects of the room conversions were good, taking in t account the physical limitations of the 'cells'. Bathrooms were smart but lacked a few finishing details (shower head too low, shower shelf, etc). Rooms were small which dictated the inconvenient 'one side along the wall, inconvenient for one pers to enter' situation. Wifi was good. No TV, aircon or fridge - maybe some technical & space issues here but should be highlighted on booked as people today reasonably expect this. Stunning views from the restaurant and bar, and a real feature of the hotel, BUT was shut Su & Mo when we were there! This is just not a fully functioning hotel!! The reception was able to provide a limited selection of drinks, incl chilled white wine, and we were able to watch le rugby in one of the reception rooms near the entrance - not quite sure what the purpose of this room was though! All-in-all, an interesting stay but the management & running of the hotel is not joined up right from the website through to the customer experience at the hotel. Success in getting the 'bugs' ironed out, but sadly we probably will not be returning.

Beautifully renovated. Rooms are simple in keeping with the history of the building, and feel comfortable. Not all rooms have a view out of their window. Pool and bar lovely, views are amazing of the mountains, river and town. Amazing location next to the cathedral near lots of bars and restaurants and the old town. Recommend fully.

What an experience! The refurbishment of the prison is truly unique. The small details throughout the complex are amazing and laced in history. The room was a great size with all the amenities you would expect, and the restaurant was great! Would highly recommend for a unique stay in a beautiful setting.

Everything was great. The hotel staff are so friendly and helpful. The interior was amazing and interesting! The view from the restaurant is amazing. The room was a bit small but it’s the size of a prison room, it’s a good experience .

Location, rooms, and building are all fantastic. Pool is quite small and very much in the sun without shade, gym is disappointing with no free weights.

Stayed at this hotel for the weekend. It was an amazing experience. Only issue is this place is no doubt haunted. In the night heard screams/shouts, rattling of bars, constant running up and down stairs. Would love to hear anyone else’a experiences?

Fabulous one night stay. The converted person makes for an interesting hotel. The rooms are a bit small but that is totally understandable and fitting for the setting. The rooms have everything you need and are spotlessly clean. The terrace is a lovely place to have a cocktail. The hotel was is within walking distance of several very good restaurants and a grocery store. Highly recommend.

Amazing hotel with wievs and unlimited possibilities if run in accordance! Be prepaired they charge for washing towells 100 euros in my case and accuse me of damaging the madras which is not true! I think this hotel will face problems as they treat their customer in a non acceptable way. Be prepaired not to be greeted or welcomed. Three days after checking in I had a fever and the staff told me everyone was ill of the staff. Now two weeks later still having a flue which well could be Covid as I am seldom ill. It disappeared a special pair of scissors from my toilettebag in my room which Must be everyday happening as there was no reaction from the reception or other staff when telling it.
