Wonderful hotel, a jewel of architecture and history. One of the best hotels in the world. My husband is a hyatt globalist member so they gave us a complimentary upgrade to the Ernest Hemingway suite. The room was large, very spacious with details that simulated being on board a cruise ship. From the windows you could appreciate beautiful landscapes of the sea. The suite had a balcony with a beautiful view of the beach. the room was just perfect. They left us a bottle of Champagne and a box of fruit. Details that make one feel very pampered. Excellent service! Very friendly, helpful and polite staff. We will come back again! Thank you for making our stay memorable and unforgettable.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We have traveled a decent amount and stayed at some great hotels, and I can truly say this was one of the best we’ve ever seen. The main lobby salon has sweeping views of the ocean that make you feel like you’re out at sea. The pool is amazing and overlooks the beach. And the grounds and hotel itself are beautifully maintained and very modern considering how old the building is. I don’t write a lot of reviews but felt compelled to write this one because we had such a great and memorable time! We are already planning to come back next year. It’s an expensive hotel but it really is worth it!

Loved our stay here. Michelin starred restaurant experience was lovely, staff were warm, welcoming, professional and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were very comfortable. The hotel location was great, close enough to town without being amongst the chaos. It was of course pricey, but a perfect example of you get what you pay for. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great place and great stay. Had the best time and good room. Breakfast food was great, lunch and dinner were not as good. Views are the best in France

A fantastic hotel, settled on cliffs with stunning sea views. We received a very warm welcome and the concierge team was going the extra mile to help us get organized. The junior suite on the highest floor with its own terrace with sea views is just amazing. Thank you @ Hotel Du Palais team!

We were 4 friends, two couples accustomed to large hotels especially in the USA and Spain, and we spent a beautiful day in this palace. We spent a morning in this top-class spa, with top-quality treatments and an extremely competent director, Mme Masson Nicolier. Then lunch at the poolside restaurant, which was a treat for our taste buds, bravo to French chef Aurélien Largeau. Afterwards, we spent a long time around the pool with its enchanting view. Thank you to all the staff, always attentive and attentive to our needs. A truly luxurious place that deserves its reputation.

My family was thrilled to stay at the Hotel du Palais for the second time and discover that it was just as incredible as we had remembered it. Our suite was absolutely gorgeous. The hotel and the grounds are stunning with breathtaking panoramic views. But beyond that, the staff at the hotel are tremendously helpful and kind. The hotel is located in the grandest, most beautiful palace, but we were always made to feel so warmly welcomed and at home. We would especially like to thank Paul and Jeff for their hospitality. They went above and beyond to make sure our visit was wonderful. The Hotel du Palais is exceptional in every way--we can't wait to come back!

This is by far one of my favorite hotel in France. The location is superb, right by the Ocean, the management keep the old feel of the second empire throughout the building but never compromised on they modern needs, the staff is very helpful and pleasant to talk to and the rooms have everything you might expect from a palace. Breakfast is opulent with an amazing selection of food. The terrace facing the ocean has a lovely setting and serves good food. But to achieve perfection and 5 stars some items needs to be fixed. We had a problem with the engine of our curtains and it was not fixed despite the fact we stayed 4 days but most importantly the pool needs a proper management. Here you have this beautiful 30 m meter pool with lounge chairs facing the ocean but nobody offers you a glass of water or comes to propose you any drinks for the whole afternoon. Instead they chit chat at the entrance while leaving clients unattended. To be fair we did not try the Michelin stars restaurant but it seems having a meal directly facing the sunset through gigantic floor to ceiling window must be a very romantic experience. We will surely come back to try it.

if you can afford the tab this is the place to stay oceanside in biarritz. you can't beat the location, the views, the service and the better than average food for a large hotel of this kind. biarritz is a truly special kind of place made ever more grand and spectacular by having a place like the Palais! thanks so much for a memorable stay. we'll be back.

This property is gorgeous! This is a truly 5 star hotel, with 5 star amenities, services facilities and of course prices. If you are not expecting to spend too much on your stay, this is not the place for you. I read few reviews complaining about the prices. I guess these reviewers did not stay at the hotel to understand the level of service at this property. The hotel is beautiful and offers gorgeous views. Pool area is fantastic, overlooking the water. There are not private beaches in Biarritz, therefore the hotel does not offer chairs on the beach, however, there us easy access from the hotel to the beach should you want to swing in the ocean. (Note that the pool has salty water). Rooms: got upgraded to a corner room or suite. Super spacious and comfortable. Nicely decorated following the hotel style. Restaurant -Terrace: Food at the terrace is good. Had lunch and dinner in there and both times we enjoyed our meals. Do not expect a huge menu or huge plates, just the right amount. Lunch was about 90 euros for a Cesar salad French style with protein, a club sandwich, a bottle of water and a beer. Dinner for 2 was about 160 for 1 salad to share, 2 main, 2 glasses of wine and a bottle of water. I cannot wait to plan our trip back to Hotel du Palais!

Definition of a luxury hotel! I loved everything about my stay. Every single staff member I encountered was helpful and friendly. There was a bottle of wine and a box of delicious pastries waiting for me along with a handwritten note from the management which made me feel very welcomed. The food at the restaurant and the breakfast buffet were outstanding and the junior suite I stayed in made me feel like I was an honored guest at a royal palace. One of my favorite things about this hotel is the secure and direct access to the beach. I’ll definitely be back!

Only stopped here for an hour or so for a drink overlooking the sea. Great place to stop for a drink and excellent staff, somewhere I'd come back to, perhaps stay next time

We had our works party evening dinner at this mesmerizing hotel. It's so much more than a hotel, this is a true Palace as the name suggests. Built in 1855 by Napoléon for his Spanish Princess Eugenie, the hotel has hosted kings and queens, Frank Sinatra, Winston Churchill, Coco Chanel, Metallica and now myself and my colleagues, well.. for us, at least in the bar and restaurant, our incredibly generous boss slept in the hotel and said it was the best nights sleep he's ever had. Views of the Atlantic ocean waves that appear to roll under your feet, to the left the casino of Biarritz, to the right rocks standing up, out of the ocean with the lighthouse twinkling to show them off. We had the most amazing evening! Welcomed like kings and queens, nothing was too much for the impeccable team. Michelin star food, cocktails to die for and service of royalty. This is a once in a lifetime experience! Special thanks to Marion and the Maitre D who together made the whole experience flawless (even with our consistent modification requests and last minute planning changes). I hope we will be back to relive this fairytale experience once again.

Service excellent - SPA area (Sauna & Pool) needs renovation - from 2 Saumas only 1 hit - whirlpool in Sauna cold - was December and low season though .

It's the best hotel. It's meaningful to be able to stay in an old but quaint and historic building. Above all, the service is the best for a top-notch hotel. The check-in and check-out as well as all the services of the staff were satisfactory every moment. I would like to give this hotel 10 stars. The management of the staff was beyond expectations.

1st class service, à very rare thing in France. Definitely will return before end of the year. Only comment is the need for vegetarian/vegan options to menus, that way we cauld enjoy the restaurant for a evening dinner.

Amazing stay with amazing service. Anything we asked for was made possible. The restaurant and the breakfast was really good also, but a bit expensive though the breakfast can be a one time thing also to try all the nice Basque cakes outside the hotel as well. The spa was great.

Went here for a drink with my partner a few days ago. We ordered one drink which was fine and decided to have another and were basically ignored by staff. Eventually got the attention of a waiter who took our order and never returned. After 45 minutes of waiting for the drinks we got frustrated and asked for the bill. Four drinks were charged on the bill and when we brought this to the waiters attention he was unapologetic and passive. Never experienced such bad service before especially from a 5 star hotel. We were ignored but a very large team of staff so felt like this was deliberate.

First the positives: the location is unique, in the middle of the Grande Plage with spectacular views to the sea, the building is grandiose, the service very nice and attentive, noise insulation is perfect, and breakfast is also very good, with a lot of choices. But a few things seemed to me inconsistent with a luxurious five star: my room (maybe it was the cheapest, but even so…) was not as large as I expected, the bathroom had little room to place toiletries, noisy plumbing and a shower without curtain, and there was no general switch for the lights, so I had to turn off every lamp before leaving the room. Also, food (other than in the Michelin-starred restaurant) was in my view just OK, and overpriced. I probably will return to this hotel, but will be careful to ask for a “good” room and eat out.
