Really liked the penguins. I think this is one of the biggest aquariums in the England. The tunnel gave a really good experience. My one year old daughter was sleeping all the time since we entered the sea life centre, luckily she woke up at the end and we came back to tunnel and spent a lot of time looking at the turtle, jelly fishes etc.. The turtle was also active when we passed through the tunnel for the second time. Would suggest visiting this place if you are in or near by Birmingham. Suggest to book tickets online in advance. If you are close to city centre then you can easily walk to this place. Enjoy the experience and walk around the Brindley place for more enjoyment.

I love all aquariums and I was lucky enough to get to go here supporting someone with a disability so I got to go free as a carer. But I have to say I was a tad disappointed as I thought it would be bigger. There were lots of amazing creatures to see, and by far the best bit was the tunnel, but we were done after about 45 minutes. There's a couple of photo opportunities that want to charge you, but at £19 per person, I really couldn't justify spending anymore. Staff were friendly, and it's all set out very well. I kinda think it's a bit dated now as newer exhibitions in other parts of the country are much more interactive and less aged. I liked it but I don't think I'd pay to go again. The shop is cashless which was disappointing as the person I support didn't have a debit card and so he couldn't buy anything.

I absolutely loved this place. Brimming with sea creatures and filled with things to learn and do, it is an excellent place to visit for everyone. I would recommend visiting on a weekday if you can, as the weekend can become extremely crowded, however if you cannot you will still be able to see most things. The staff are friendly and informative, and the exhibits are absolutely exquisite. I think it’s well worth the ticket price and can’t recommend this place enough.

A beautiful aquarium. The highlights of the show all the penguins they are absolutely fantastic. Differently laid out a lot of ramps to climb. Could be challenging with buggies and prams. The walk through tunnel is nice. Try to pick a day where there's less people you will enjoy. The gift shop could have been better. Still the best aquarium in the UK is the deep in Hull.

Came to the Sea Life Centre today and had a fabulous time. Staff friendly everywhere was clean and I’ve really loved looking at all the fish and different things. Thank you highly recommend this to anybody who wants to take their children somewhere over the bank holidays or the summer holidays it’s a lot of fun

Wonderful experience for the whole family. The kids loved it. Slightly busy in some places inside. The staff are absolutely amazing. Bit pricey on the gift shop but it was worth it. Would go again in the future. Loved the penguins.

Great day out. I would advise to take your time and enjoy every part of it otherwise you can end up being finished in a hour, but it's an amazing set up. The glass tunnel with sharks swimming around you is incredible. Having had some disappointing experiences with zoos last year, it was refreshing to visit somewhere that you actually see every creature easily. Also the staff are very nice and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

So first things first - if you are responsible for the social media content for SEA LIFE Centres, then please do not say fin-tastic or jaw-some review! I am not 5. So the good... Unlike some reviews, this is not a 50 minute journey around some overly large fish tanks. It could of course be 50 minutes if you fail to take in all there is to offer and move around at a pace that suggests you want to get out ASAP. Yes, some of the exhibits get busy, but on a Sunday in January there were plentiful opportunities to slow down, pause and to enjoy everything. Overall, this was an enjoyable experience. The bad... £24 entrance ticket does not represent good value. Unfortunately, Merlin Entertainment appears to believe that this pricing structure is acceptable, despite the cost of living crisis. Yes, I get that this is an expensive place to run , but it seems clear that there are a variety of options to enjoy a discounted price if you take advantage of their corporate partners. The problem of course is that this tends to focus on those members of society that can afford to access these options. Now for most of you reading this, it may well be that you don't particularly care. However, this is a company that charges a good deal to enter some of its other venues and then introduces a stratified system that 'fast tracks' those that can afford it.

The National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham is a cool place where you can see lots of different sea creatures like fish, turtles, sharks, and even penguins! It's like going on an underwater adventure without getting wet. You can learn all about the ocean and its amazing inhabitants while having fun exploring the exhibits. It's a great place to visit with friends and family to discover the wonders of the sea!

An excellent place to spend time. Specially if you have kids and they are into aquatic life. Nice clean arrangement. May need to book prior to the visit

Really tired, dingy and overcrowded. Probably the worst Sea Life Centre I've been to. The enclosures for the penguins and otters are so small, it's thoroughly depressing. The walkways are really narrow and packed full of people with pushchairs, meaning you can't get past. It was so full when we went you couldn't even see half of the exhibits as there are so many people there. We had to wait for 20 minutes to get near the otters as it was so crowded. It's looking really run down and dirty, and smells terrible in parts. It's in desperate need of a deep clean. It felt very claustrophobic on the walkways and tunnels, due to the amount of people packed in, and children screaming and running around constantly. We visited at lunchtime on a weekday, expecting it to be quiet, but how wrong we were! I think adults only evenings would really benefit this place. I'm sure a lot of animal lovers wouldn't mind paying a little more for a less crowded, more peaceful experience. If you like paying a fortune to be stuck staring at the back of people's heads and have screaming kids running around you, you'll love it here. Otherwise, I really recommend you avoid this place.

Sadly this has to be one of the worst Sea life centres I have ever been to! Yes there some wonderful sea creatures but apart from 1 staff member there was so many things wrong Children’s stamper were broken 3 out of 8! Staff did not wish to answer to know how to answer questions (albeit from one staff member who has a blue bow in her hair) Toilets were filthy - watered down soap Stair case from entrance to exit/ shop was horrid - if your going to allow public down it just a lick of paint to keep it in theme not like it is a back end area. A number of of the exhibits were damaged which did not look great Went here due to having a Merlin pass but would not wish to pay to go there… most likely won’t come back either unless they make some vast improvements.

Amazing experience and great way to spend a an hour or two. Great experience for little ones too as you can get really close and see everything from great vantage. The underwater tunnel is also amazing to walk through and have sharks swim overhead Only thing thats really missing is a small cafe. Would defiantly go back and take our little one back when she's a bit bigger and can see all the fish again.

My recent trip to the Sea Life was a very exciting one. I had booked a combo ticket where I could visit both Cadbury World and National Sea Life, and paid £35 for the combined ticket. The place is located close to the city centre so you wouldn’t have to pay much for travelling and there are plenty of buses that take you there. The place is huge and a fun attraction for children and adults. We got to see a variety of sea animals and could even touch a few of them. It was great and a nice way of introducing marine life to kids. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

My daughter loves this place and we would love to come more often, but one downside is the expense. As well as parking on top of it, would be good if they came up with a deal that included parking and Merlin doesn't cover the parking even the gold membership. That aside it is a great place and love the tunnel, I actually saw the sea otters for the first time this time, was so excited (yes I am a grown woman lol)

NATIONAL SEA LIFE CENTRE, BIRMINGHAM One of the biggest aquarium in the UK, Situated in the heart of the city of Birmingham. Its a five stories of wonder covered with River, Ocean, Forest, Water falls, Ponds, Lake, Under water, Fountain, Tunnels, Tanks and Theatres. As soon as you enter the staff will welcome you with a smile in the ticket counter. The real adventure begins there in the PENGUINS CAVE. You should never miss their whole entertainment. we can take a FAMILY or GROUP photo there. ( we met an enthusiastic photographer there..) As you step ahead, the whole families of UNDERWATER HEROES will surprise you with their own style. Crossing the TUNNELS, TANKS are really awesome. Can't remember all of their names. but, every single tanks are colourful, magical and mysterious. Especially, the SHARKS, PIRANHA, GUITAR FISH, SEA HORSE and OTTERS are really Great.. The adventure never be fulfilled unless you visit the "OCEAN TUNNEL" which is built completely with the great human architecture. I am damn sure your cameras would be much busier than you..!! Finally, a "4D FILM SHOW" at the top of the floor where your children enjoy the fun of all the fish, sharks, horses and piranhas with their favourite songs and bubbles..!! Furthermore, there is a shop at the exit. We can the toys of our heroes. "They will make you happy at home", a bit expensive though. I loved a water clock there. ( attached the photo here too) Thanks to all the staff and organisers of SEA LIFE for the wonderful day..!! Don't wait to visit the amazing place near you.. The "HEROES of the OCEAN" are waiting for you..!!

Decent visit at the aquarium, it takes about 30minutes to 1 hour to complete. It was just extremely crowded despite booking in advance. The tickets are also pricey, so not sure this was good value.

Nice place to spend with family and kids. Kids really enjoy a lot to see big fish, seahorses, jellyfish etc. Parking is nearby within 2 minutes. Can complete around 2 to 3 hours. 360 degree tunnel is very nice to take photos and get good views of fish seeing in very close.

Loved it! The kids loved it too! It was amazing to see so many types of sea creatures and learning facts about them. The environment is so relaxing and rejuvenating. It only took us an hour to go through it all with young kids so it's on the pricey side and would stop us visiting regularly sadly, so lost a star there. The Kelloggs codes help!

The price is around average for a visit, but you get a free anytime return ticket which makes it good value. Our first visit was in Feb this year and again this week on the return ticket, under COVID-19 restrictions. We had to book online, which was quick and easy. Our temperature was measured upon entry, there was lots of sign markings on the floor, on the tanks, around the aquarium, staff wore masks and there was sanitising stations placed. We had to wear masks all the way around. Overall, the set up under COVID was good and the aquarium wasn’t too crowded either, so we weren’t too close to other customers. But some areas were tight, so it made it difficult to get around with a baby and pushchair. It was a good visit, they have otters, penguins, sharks, crabs, turtles, jellyfishes, stingrays, frogs and lots of fishes. The only thing I find is a downside is, the centre is relatively small. It takes around 45-60 minutes to walk around altogether, so it does feel quite disappointing when you finish. I would recommend a visit for younger children, as the aquarium is small, but you finish really quick, so for the older children it’s over before you know it.

An excellent couple of hours spent with my daughter who treated me to the experience. One of the highlights is the ocean tunnel. Upon entering the tunnel, I looked up just as a huge sea turtle swam lazily over the top of us. It was truly a "Wow"! moment, and that was followed by two large sharks. I just sat in my wheelchair and gaped in awe at an incredible sight unfolding before me. But before that, we were treated to the sight of pregnant male seahorses in their special tank. It really was wonderful to behold. With all the different tanks, freshwater, saltwater, deep-water, shallow water, plus Otters, jellyfish, and other wonderful creatures, there is something for everyone. . All in all, if you love water creatures the National Sea-Life Centre is a treat of a day out for the whole family. Also, as I am disabled and in a wheelchair it is great to report that everything is accessible to all.

First time to Sea Life and while it wasn't quite as big as I was expecting, it's a great place. The variety of marine life is awesome and the underwater tunnel and watching the sharks swim above and around you is an experience. Great overall experience and great job.

What a disappointing visit. We visited in 2017 and had such a great time so we had our expectations set quite high. Sadly, some sections were completely missing or broken. The sea otters were not there as advertised. The 4D cinema is now a paid extra which it wasn't before. Even the activity booklet for our kids was a letdown because the stamp/activity points were missing. I also didn't see many staff around and when they were it was to upsell additional experiences. I would've loved the opportunity for my kids to inspired by someone working in marine biology. Then there is the additional stuff that's added on like the photo experiences, appreciate it's optional but all it does is pressure families to spend more money (on what is already an expensive trip). I think COVID has made it excusable to charge more for less, I think the current ticket rates are excessively high.

We find a fighting fish in this Sea Life. Much fun for the whole family from kiddos to adults. The staff are well trained and explain throughly about facts of the sea creatures. They have amazing staff and good customer service. Socially distance notes is a must and you can see it very detailed. Great day and enjoy our visit here. Definitely well be back.

Great place to see some aquatic animals. A reasonably sized place and good variety. The walkways are quite narrow when others stop to look, causing a backlog or an uncomfortable place to be. Like most tourist attractions is down to them letting too many people in. Great for small children, but I would go first or last thing to avoid the crowds otherwise you will see more backs of human heads then fish. There's a tunnel at the end where the fish and sharks swim above and on the side of you, but this is awful when it's busy, it's impossible to move freely. Toilets are available throughout but small, hard to close cubicle doors as it's a tight squeeze. Staff are friendly, opportunity to touch a starfish and trails for kids to get stamps as they go round. Obligatory gift shop as you exit to buy sea life branded things. Worth spending an hour at.

Honestly pretty disappointing, the staff seem to be more interested on pushing gimmicky photo booth photos than protecting the animals from harassment, we saw kids banging on the glass of fish and mammal enclosures, parents (who should have known better) using flash photography, and even people touching the poor rays. Some of the enclosures did feel a little run down, there were some enjoyable parts, but for £52 (for two adults) it didnt really give any sense of value for money It takes about an hour to get through the exhibits,

Fantastic place for anyone to spend the day! Huge place, with a variety of different aquatic life to view and learn about. The aquariums are large with plenty of items/etc to decorate the tanks, and it feels like the needs of the animals are considered a high priority (as they should be). There are posters, signs and videos around the site with information on the animals at hand. There are also plenty of staff around the various sections who are more than happy to answer questions. There's a gift shop at the end with a range of different gifts, ranging from inexpensive magnets to delightful soft plush toys. Overall, would recommend turning up early morning if you'd prefer to avoid at its busiest, and booking in advance. There are a few toilets throughout the experience, and lifts to the difference areas for wheelchair/pushchair accessibility.

We took our one year old and she really enjoyed seeing all the sealife. We especially liked the penguins and sea otters. Fortunately we used a 2 for 1 voucher as without it, admission is very expensive for what it is. We finished walking round in just over an hour and that was with giving everything a good look. I'd recommend going as there's some good variety, but just be aware there's not loads to it.

Excellent place to visit, staff are friendly and welcoming and will share loads of information about the species kept there. great for the children of all ages especially the 360 degree tunnel, which is the only one of its kind in the UK. Takes around 1.5 - 2 hours to walk around maybe longer depending on how much time you observe each exhibit. Good toilet facilities which includes disabled toilets and baby changing stations. The only downside I would say about it is that the 4D cinema is now charged for seperately to your entry ticket, it used to be included but there is still plenty to do to keep everyone entertained and informed. Overall I highly recommend it here for all ages. If travelling by car, I would also highly recommend using the nearby arena car park, where you can pay for parking in advance giving you more time to enjoy the day. from the arena car park, it's a short walk over the canal bridge to the sea life centre.

I was expecting a great deal from my visit. Experience of seeing all kinds of sea life was completely missing. Was greatly disappointed with the entire place especially for the price we pay. Additionally the place was very cramped throughout. I did enjoy few sections but the overall experience needs to be upscaled to include all species of sea animals and some fun/play area for kids.

5 stars - but could we please have an Adults Only day/afternoon once a month or something please!! Absolutely loved our visit today, I have visited before but this time seemed a lot better. From Penguins to Otters and everything in between it was just such an adventure the whole time. It was so interested to see all the different type of fish - and even an octopus! So cool!!! It is layed out really well, and with it being a Saturday it was very busy. So many kids, which is great for income but it does stop you from seeing some of the animals up close as of course you have to let the kids and prams go to the front and then by the time they go another lot come through. I love kids but it would be nice to experience Sea Life differently so next time we will try in the week instead. The Centre is in a really nice place in Birmingham with some really nice looking restaurants nearby! Didn't visit the toilets were there were plenty on the walk around. There were little sections where you could purchase fizzy drinks, chocolate and ice-cream. A bottle of Coke was £2. Also there are vending machines and benches. Our highlights were definitely the Otters and the Tunnel! You feel so close to them it is really amazing! On a Covid Side of things - hardly anyone was wearing masks and being so cramped together it wasn't ideal, there were social distancing on the floor but no one takes notice. I realise things have lacked but it is always good to note in a review for those who are extra cautious. Will definitely visit again - we were able to use our Tesco Vouchers as well so it was a bargain for a fun filled few hours.

Nice place to visit. I do feel it’s a little repetitive with the same fishes just being in different locations and personally the time goes by really quick. There could be some more interactive things to do for children. However, it is a great place for families to come with their children. There are a lot of beautiful fishes and other animals such as penguins. Best part is the tunnel as it gives an immersive feeling in the sea!

It’s a really nice place and it’s definitely an enjoyable experience for the kids. It can get quite crowded in certain places due to the narrow path where people sometimes stop and watch so I think that should be improved. Other than that it was a nice experience and it was quite cool touching the starfish. The staff were friendly and kind.

The best part of the National SEA LIFE @ Birmingham is the 360 degree water tunnel. It gives you so much real experience of being in the water watching fishes so closely. Penguins at the start also are active and seem to be interacting with the visitors. This was our 3rd visit (1st was before COVID). The reason for 4 stars is due to the removal of the 4D experience, which is replaced by VR experience, which is good but we really liked the 4D experience. Suggestion: if you are visiting on weekends or bank holidays, try to book early slots to avoid rush. Parking: if you are coming by car, Q-Park Brindley Place is the nearest car park with 2 min walking.

A must visit place for a family day out, group activity or a date. Plenty of wonderful creatures to see, very easy to follow paths and guided viewing. Lots of information available. There's a sector to touch some star fish, apart from that there's not much interaction available. Bring a snack and water bottle with you. Not a lot of places to sit down so be prepared to stay standing. I'd definitely visit again.

A pleasant spot to explore. I find it slightly repetitive with the same fishes scattered in different areas, and personally, time flies quickly. It could benefit from more interactive activities for children. Nevertheless, it's an excellent destination for families with children, featuring numerous beautiful fishes and other creatures like penguins. The highlight is the tunnel, offering an immersive experience in the sea!

I shop here really often, even though I don't live in Ashton anymore I still travel there to go pet man, it's been there along as I can remember (obviously was across the road from where it is now) I can't do a review that will give it enough justice, the staff are absolutely amazing, they go the extra mile for their customers and have a wealth of knowledge, I always leave feeling valued, they are really friendly, outgoing and helpful. I won't shop anywhere else now their prices are really good too.

My dog had a severe looking ear infection during this lockdown period.. I asked the guys here for advise as opposed to going to the vet and they sold me Odotex ear drops for a fiver.. Within a couple of days the ear looked so much better and healed within a week! Unbelievable and I probably saved myself about £50 at least. Thanks very much

This place is amazing and is carved in my memory from my sons birthday visit. Amazing views and animals and friendly staff happy to answer any questions. Larger than it appears from the outside. The price is about right for these types of venues in my opinion. A fantastic day out at a great place surrounded by awesome animals - well worth a visit and bring the kids!

Amazing day out. Penguins where so active was happy to see people. The staff are lovely, friendly and passionate about the sea life, we got to listen to information at the rockpool area. Social distant really easy to keep and lots of hand sanitizer on the way around.

A good Aquarium, in the the centre of Birmingham. It roughly takes around an 1hr to 1.5hrs to go round. They now have a pair of Sea Otters, which are amazing to watch and the Underwater tunnel is very cool. On the downside, there is an extra cost of £2.50 per person to view the 4D show, this used to be included in the ticket price but not anymore. If you use a 2 for 1 promo it's a good value day out, but at full price i wouldn't say it's worth it.

I went to Sea Life with my son not long ago. We paid online for tickets, came in on time and there was not too many people. We had free time and could take as long as we wanted which was brilliant. My son is in love with this place we are coming back for sure to visit all animals again. Amazing place for children to show them how beautiful sea creatures are. My son start to study all about them so Sea Life made a new hobby which I'm happy about.

Great place to visit with ideal parking facilities nearby (watch out for Sheepcote Road bus lane fine trap!!). Plenty of pubs and restaurants near by. Well designed tour as you walk through to each section in a virtual ascend. We enjoyed our trip out. Price is alright, could be cheaper perhaps but I imagine it costs a lot to maintain.

  • 5/5 S S. 3 years ago on Google
Received excellent customer service from Amy on Instagram when I had issues booking my tickets. The Sea Life centre was a bit smaller than I expected and was bit busy but I went on the last weekend of half term. They gave us goodie bags for the kids and there was an opportunity to pet a starfish and sea urchin. The tunnel experience was amazing but again a bit smaller than I originally thought. Worth a visit. My kids loved the penguins

This was a nice day out to get to walk through the tunnel to see all the different types of fish It was a bit expensive to go in and inside it wasn’t as big as you would think which surprised me so it doesn’t take that long to walk around the place The best part however was afterwards having a nice drink down near the canal with its quaint bridges near to here and on a sunny day it’s worth going to this part in Birmingham I wouldn’t rate it amazing as a sea life centre just average hence the 3 stars but if it was bigger I would probably give it a 4 stars Go here and see what you think of it yourself

fun place but some of the tanks were a little grubby/scratched so it was difficult to see, some tanks were empty of species but it was lovely to see all the little people getting so much enjoyment out of all the small tunnels etc, and i thoroughly enjoyed the adult tunnel! My real complaint was the extraordinarily loud muzak, it was too much for me, I eventually had to put my earbuds in to deaden the noise slightly

I always love coming here and thankfullywe were booked in the day before lockdown 2.0. It was fairly quiet thankfully so we could take our time and enjoy seeing all the amazing animals. We were lucky enough to see quite a lot of feeding which was great. The lady by the rock pool was lovely and really informative about the sea stars and anemones etc, could have chatted to her all day! The penguins are super cute and the new Sea Otters are absolutely adorable, a bit shy but we caught a few glimpses and it was lovely to know they had a lot of private space where they can hang out in peace. The shark tunnel was wonderful as always, when a huge shark or Molokai the turtle swims over your head it takes your breath away! Totally recommend anyone to visit 😊

Local parking is nearby at a reasonable cost, up to 3 hours was £6.00. The centre is about 5 mins walk away. Booking online is advised. You can present your ticket on your phone or as a printed sheet. You go around along simple to follow routes looking at the attractions along the way. The whole thing is presented based on the natural habitat that the creature showcased lives in. You exit via the gift shop naturally where they have stuffed animal toys, magnets, keyrings etc. We felt the visit was a little on the short side for the cost of the tickets. A good day out for all the family.

My 2 year old loved it and was excited to see the penguins... Lots of different fish and staff were welcoming. The sealife centre itself looked a little rumdown and dated... But a good day out. If you want to attend legoland you can book tickets for £10 per person or child which is a, saving of almost 50%. Good offer and the gift shop staff will direct you.

I went with my 8yr old son for his birthday. He did enjoy it but I'd say it's aimed at younger children, there aren't any activities to do except look at the fish but that may be due to covid, it's very small and surprised me that it only took us 30 minutes when we came out, the gift shop is a bit overpriced but they do have a good selection. I'd come again but next time I'd take my toddler instead :) all in all it was very good, it did say there were seals but unfortunately it was closed off which was very disappointing.

  • 5/5 Pawel S. 3 years ago on Google
Very close to Legoland so it's worth to go to both places on the same day. You can see Legoland on my picture on the left side. It's just a minute by walk. SeaLife is a very good place for a family day out. Children can learn something about fish, seahorses, jellyfish, sharks etc. 4d cinema is also interesting. If you book SeaLife and Legoland then its cheaper.

Friendly staff, lovely sea Animals with good viewing spots into tanks for all heights. However a little disappointed with how small the place is.. It only Took 40/45 minutes to see everything there & that was including waiting times for different tanks as there are so many people in such small spaces. I think it's an lovely place for the kids but my son 3 did get bored half way through. It's very expensive for what it is & so little time there with not much todo. Unfortunately because of this I will not be Returning.

Came here with my partner and 4 month old baby, cost around £55 online for entrance but is cheaper if you can specify a time when you'll turn up. The walk around was really nice and interesting for us. Plenty to keep the baby's interest and she was in awe of all the fish and lights, really great sensory experience for little ones! It is over quite quick so take your time on the walk round, was about an hour and a half for us altogether. You also get a couple of chances for photos to be taken by staff and theyre not too expensive. We got 2 keyrings and a photo in a lovely frame for £17.50.

Had the best morning!!! My children absolutely loved it. They are 2.5 and nearly 1. We took our double buggy around and it was pretty easy to navigate. There’s so much to see and we had a great time in the small tunnels as well as the large ocean tunnel. We especially loved the penguins! The staff were all friendly and helpful when we couldn’t find a lift. There are benches all around as you go which is very handy for snacks and stops. We will be back again soon! Loved it so much!

Had such a fun time, saw loads of animals and fish I had never seen at any other sea life centre. We did the behind the scenes tour which was an additional £5 but was so worth it. Our guide Jodie was very knowledgeable and showed us baby stingrays and guitarfish and showed us what each creature eats, learnt a lot from the tour. I really recommend it!

  • 3/5 Koffee B. 2 years ago on Google
Was nice, don't think it's too expensive for the things that you get to see and learn. My only problem was it wasn't very covid safe, they said they had a one way system but didn't seem like they cared if people followed it or not; resulted in small areas crowding up easily

  • 4/5 Keith R. 2 years ago on Google
A bit small and cramped, but the staff were friendly. The best thing is the tunnel, which places large sharks and a giant turtle right over your head. Second best are the penguins as they're quite playful and aren't shy.

  • 4/5 Jade C. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing experience loved the penguins and the otters we don't get to see them in other aquariums. Price was fab and in a lovely little area. Absolutely loved the tunnel experience and all the beautiful sea life. Staff were friendly the only Down fall was there were far to many let in at the same time and we felt a bit rushed and crowded at times. If you still feel unsafe I'd suggest taking and wearing masks as in very close proximity of others.

Great place to meet with the ocean life! Fantastic entertainment for mates and family even if I'm very happy to enjoy my single journey. And, never miss to meet otters and penguins! They are the biggest surprise in your holiday! BTW, The historic waterways and Bridges remind me of the chase under the bridge in the 1984 Sherlock Holmes TV series.

  • 4/5 Sam W. 2 years ago on Google
Really nice trip out. The staff are very helpful and polite. The fish and other animals are clearly well looked after and there are lots of activities for children to do as you go around. My only real issue is how ridiculous the prices of items in the gift shop are. I realise it's bound to be expensive. However I wasn't prepared for just how expensive. That a side it's a well worth a day out.

Visited August 2022 with the family. My 11 month old loves watching fish in pet shops and aquatic centres, so we figured the Sea Life Centre would be perfect. We prebooked our tickets online for that afternoon, parked up at the Arena North car park (the recommended South car park was full) and queued only a couple of minutes to get in. On arrival, we needed to do a nappy change, where we were told there were facilities at the entrance. There were queues for both the ladies and gents toilets, which had their own baby change units in them, but given I was with my partner, and nappy changes have now become a two man job, the disabled facilities were available for use as well. The Sea Life centre is suitable for pushchairs, but honestly, I left ours at home and had the baby in his carrier. It meant he could enjoy all the fish and penguins from a really good vantage point instead of lower down in the pram, and it meant getting around was much easier, especially given so many other parents bought pushchairs along. The walkways got easily crowded. I’d say, if you can leave the pram then do. Visiting during the kids holidays meant that it was pretty busy and certain sections got quite hot. It also meant we either couldn’t see certain tanks because of the number of families crowding round or you had to queue for it which further clogged the walkways, so for a number of tanks, we had no choice but to walk by. We thoroughly enjoyed the 360 tunnel, being able to stroke a starfish and just seeing a huge array of marine wildlife. One of my favourite sections was the coral! In the end, we completed the centre in an hour. Now obviously, this would take longer if: 1) we were able to see all the tanks, 2) we did the 4D cinema experience, which we didn’t do because of the baby and 3) if we had an older child with us collecting the stamps on the way round and doing the activity book. I’d definitely go back again but not during the school holidays and I’d try and use a 2 for 1 voucher given how quick we completed it. You can also add on extras such as entry to Legoland across the way so you can make more of a day of it too. Maybe our visit felt more like a 3* but given that we didn’t experience Sea Life to its fullest, it feels unfair to rate it that low.

It is more centred for the kids.......... long and exciting enough for a toddler to enjoy without getting tired with enough seats to rest for a while to enjoy the soreness of the water flowing. Took my youngest for the first time, and she loved it... The show at the end has stopped, and you must order online cost a star for me.

I had such a great time at the aquarium. There's so much to see, including penguins, some were really interactive, different skarks and rays, loads of different fish, an octopus and many more. It was my partners birthday and the pirate that walks around the aquarium sang happy birthday and every time we passed him, he would talk to us, he was one of the highlights of our visit. We done a behind the scenes tour by Denis, that was really good. We saw where some of the food is kept, the quarantine tanks and we were given a small shark tooth to take home! We also saw some lobster claws, shark and ray eggs, shark teeth, a seahorse, a horseshoe crab and something that represents what a megalodon skin was like! Unfortunately, it was quite crowded when we was behind the scenes. There were 12 of us in a smallish room and it was a bit awkward. The staff was really nice, especially Bex, Denis, Mj and the pirate! They made the experience much more enjoyable. I'd definitely come back again, hopefully on a less busy day

Lovely place to visit for a couple of hours in the centre of Birmingham. Staff are helpful friendly and knowledgable. We had a vip session feeding the fish and the penguins. An exciting and highly recommended activity when they are running.

We visited the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham and it was a nice visit. This was a one-way path from the start to the end and I wish I had known that we could have revisited on the same day as we just were in between the feeding times. Instead when we got to the exit we had thought that was the end of that and we were disappointed. I had emailed them to ask my question if we could revisit this as I am deaf and can't use the phone but looking back now I could have gone to the reception directly. I have visited several SEA LIFE throughout the United Kingdom and I've found this to be quite nice, it's got a wide range of fish and it's great to be up close to take pictures of them and practice my photography. I would recommend people coming here to have a look to see fish you'd never see normally. All the fish looked well cared for and the staff were very knowledgeable. The only issue I had was the number of pushchairs clogging up the line, and it's frustrating because the line would have been much easier to walk through without almost tripping on them. There was a shop here however I didn't buy anything as I didn't need anything but it's a great shop, it is a bit on the pricy side but I enjoyed having a nosy to see what was there. I think the keychains were nice too and perhaps I'll come back to visit again and get some!

I had a lovely time here today, the Christmas Market was absolutely awful so I came here instead! I can't believe I've actually seen a real Bowmouth Guitarfish, it really made my day! So many lovely rays too, and the jellyfish. Last time I visited here was with school, probably somewhere around 2001. Next time I won't leave it so long!

Quite disappointed with the experience at National Sea life center Birmingham, I wasn't expecting anything spectacular like sea world but this was a maze with people stuck everywhere. They oversold tickets massively and the people who paid for the tickets suffered the most. We were stuck behind people at every step of the way, not able to look through the glass and enjoy the experience. I'd avoid coming and spend your money in better places.
