What can I say...after walking into our hotel what looked like mental hospital ward ..we walked through what looked like a student dorm, up a set of stairs that smelt like something had died underneath them, we opened our "hotel" room door that looked like a door that would lead you to a cleaning closet, we went into our room which had the ceiling hanging down in the 1980s bathroom there were limescale in the kettle, the floor was dirty our socks got filthy... so after spending no more than 20 minutes in our hospital room... sorry I mean "hotel" room, we walked out asked for a refund an won't be goin there ever again .... staff were very friendly though! Not even worth the 1 star!

I stayed here before and it was way better previously-the standard has gone down. The reason being is that the housekeeping was rubbish this time around. She kept folding up the bathmat instead of changing it and it had someones pad wrapper attached to the underside. She also kept forgetting to restock my tea/coffee and sweeteners amd forgot to give me biscuits a couple times. I also found a cockroach in my room probably due to the drop in cleanliness. However, the rooms are lovely - Great desk space, decent but basic bathroom, safety box, large windows and hairdryer. The food here was delicious! The coffee machines great!

Lucas House Hotel is a place to sleep at night and wash in the morning. It's student halls which have been reconditioned to be hotel rooms, and some of the photos and details up on Google are misleading, but the website is fairer. Comfortable bed, but the room is very worn otherwise; single glazing, loud bathroom fans, stained bathroom towels, etc. Breakfast is lovely, available across the road from Edgbaston Park hotel, and it is delicious. Staff were also really helpful. If all you are looking for is a place to sleep at night and wash in the morning, Lucas House Hotel will provide that.

Perfectly serviceable, although not a fabulous looking as the photos suggest. Offered a very large room with plenty of space and comfortable bed. The whole hotel has a dated feel. Very well located for the university, but a short taxi or bus ride from the centre of town.

As always, a clean and comfortable stay in a lovely and well-equipped room. Friendly staff and incredibly convenient for university business. The only reason not to recommend it is so that rooms are more likely to be available next time I want to book!

Nice location within the venue and for £67 per night it's pretty good value. However the shower door was missing a handle, bedside light didn't work and the bed was uncomfortable abd there's only a lift to the first floor.

Interesting photo as thats not Lucas House.. Lucas House is a 70xs style institutional building converted to a hotel. But for all that, it has a unique charm and is a comfortable stay. Room is well heated, overlooked the gardens of the house next door which are very nice, has outdoor space for the summer. Its odd but nice!

Great place to stay. Rooms are well equipped and beds are comfortable. Ensuite bathroom is very good too. Lots of desk/cupboard space to store your stuff or work.

And owsome place to stay. Very quiet, peaceful and cosy place. Stayed there for three nights and was one of my best experiences. Room was clean and tidy. The room service was quick and excellent. The staff was very cooperative, nice and accommodating. The best thing about it's location is it was the most silent and peaceful place I came across in whole Birmingham plus you can find transport for any destination easily. Will definitely love to stay here again.

In September 2017 Venuebirmingham became University Of Birmingham | Conferences & Events. I stayed for one night as it is also conveniently placed for visiting the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The staff were very helpful. The gardens also lovely in the evening sunshine. I enjoyed a tasty meal in the restaurant. My bedroom although comfy felt a little bit jaded though and could do with redecorating and improved glazing to deaden the sound of the clock tower chimes :)

More of an older youth hostel, the light in the bathroom was broken and the entire facility is very tired. I would recommend it for students or teenagers. As soon as you have an income, it's better to go to the Edgbaston Park Hotel opposite (only costs 10 pounds more...). By the way, breakfast also takes place in this hotel if you stay at the Lucas House Hotel. Unfortunately the water dispenser was really disgusting, you can see pictures below.
