Our 'stay' at The Ladbrooke lasted about 10 minutes. The hotel looks okay from the outside, but was situated in a street covered with litter and broken glass. The lift was cramped and stank of weed. Our room had stains on the carpet, a huge stain on the tapestry behind the headboard, stains on the curtain (which was falling off its rail), mould in the shower, a hole in the wall, a grubby handprint on the wall, and just generally smelt very musty / damp. We immediately knew we could not stay there, and thankfully we were able to book a Travelodge - closer to the city centre, and much cleaner. The only positive I can give is that the lady who checked us in was very friendly and polite. Would not recommend! Photos attached.

Amazing room, wonderful staff and free pizza!! They run this hotel with pride and make every guest feel special! Ive been meaning to leave a review for this hotel for some time but hadn't got round to it. We arrived early to the hotel but this didn't matter, we were given a beautiful, clean, huge room, I can honestly say I don't think the suite I was given on my wedding day was even as beautiful and grand. We were on a girl's weekend , had been out all day shopping, when got back to get ready to go out again, we were feeling absolutely starving, we rang the room service and requested pizza, it was made and sent up in no time, what a scrumptious pizza it was too. More about the room, the 2 bathrooms, yes I said 2 bathrooms were huge so could get ready separately, the decor so beautiful, lighting great, had a sofa and grand furniture, lots of complimentary items in the room. Once ready, we decided to have a drink at the bar, in the most amazing lobby, staff were so welcoming. After our night out on the town which we really enjoyed, it was time for bed, what a comfortable bed! there wasn't enough pillows for my friend, but even though was late, gave reception a ring and was provided with more instantly, we had the best sleep ever. In the morning, went down for breakfast, was served a huge full English breakfast with toast and tea, was perfectly cooked, just what we needed. We went to pay for our room and we questioned we hadn't paid for the pizza, the manager said don't worry it's on the house to our surprise :) two very happy ladies indeed. Thank you, for the best stay and making us feel like princesses, we will be back very soon and can I say what a bargain this hotel is.

The staff were nice and helpful but I can't give the hotel more than one star. The Ladbrooke is the West Midlands answer to Faulty Towers!! There were so many issues with the hotel I don't know where to start. There was a shower curtain over the window in the bathroom and the window frame was rotten. The taps in the bathroom wobbled and due to the strange design of them we got soaked every time we washed our hands. The ironing board was broken and nothing worked properly including lights. The beds seemed unstable and I felt that I was going to fall when I turned. To top it off the room smelt awful. The cleanliness of the hotel wasn't good either. I nearly went back home. The area where the hotel is seemed a bit dodgy and there is a club nearby so if you want to go to sleep you have no chance. We didn't stay for breakfast as we didn't want to risk it. Wouldn't stay again. No way.

Be careful about parking here, it states it's free parking but I got a ticket for being there for 9 minutes when collecting my daughter's belongings from there It even states on the hotels website that parking is free. Parkingeye are responsible for the tickets and you cannot contact them by phone. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF RIP OFFS.

It is situated very close to city centre. It's a nice place but it requires some modernisation. Hotel lobby is small but comfortable. Staff is welcoming and helpful. They have sufficient parking for their guests. There is a function hall in the basement for Seminars or conferences or Receptions The disabled toilet in the basement needs some attention. It's door lock is broken since many months but management has a novel idea , they have provided a wooden chair in the disabled toilet. When you want to use it, place wooden chair to block the door. Central heating is fine inside lobby or in rooms but not that great in the basement hall. Overall experience was satisfactory

The worst afternoon tea I've ever experienced. To start with we were kept waiting for over half an hour and after initially being told the chef was running late, he then decided not to turn up at all. So the woman who was cleaning the hotel when we arrived ran out to the shops and served us soggy pre-made sandwiches along with Mr Kipling cakes. Nothing was fresh, sandwiches were overloaded with mayo and worst of all there were no scones! We were offered a cup of tea while we were waiting to be seated but all they had was English Breakfast, no herbal tea or any other variation so I didn't have a hot drink at all. Then at the table once we were finally seated they didn't even bother to bring over a pot of tea. We had a bottle of Prosecco which had been bought from the Co-op. We couldn't eat the food, it was disgusting. We had vouchers from a third party and will be requesting a refund. Avoid this place, dreadful experience.

Had an afternoon tea booked 6weeks prior for my friendsbirthday. Only to turn up and be told it was cancelled. The attitude of the receptionist was vile. No apology or explanation at all. I dine out alot in Birmingham and I have never come across a poor establishment like this. AVOID!!!

Would love to give 5 stars as the staff were lovely, so helpful and accommodating. The location is very handy for the city centre but unfortunately not in the most glamorous of areas. The whole hotel needs a refurb but downstairs is clean and comfortable and serves great coffee. It's a dog-friendly hotel in central Birmingham, so a tick for us.

I had booked this hotel through booking.com for an event but they suddenly cancelled without any explanation, leaving me with only very expensive options during a very busy time. Very disappointed.

The worst hotel Iโ€™ve ever stayed at. Fire alarm has went off 4 times in 45 minutes and kids constantly in the lobby shouting and screaming at midnight. Canโ€™t sleep because I can hear every conversation outside my door. Iโ€™ve got to be up at 5:30 and itโ€™s impossible to sleep. Stay away from this hotel!

Avoid at all costs. Paid for 2 weeks parking during the Commonwealth Games. I only ever parked at night when it was dark and the car park is unlit, therefore I failed to see a sign printed by the hotel management on an A4 paper which said theyโ€™ve got an event in the car park and all cars have to be removed. Why this wasnโ€™t mentioned during my booking I donโ€™t know. Anyway, on the day of the event, the hotel management and event organiser moved my car on wheel trolleys and pushed my car to another location. The car park is not even surfaced and has slopes. I was at work and my car alarm was going off constantly which made me think it was being stolen. I return to my car and did a visual inspection, there was dirty hand prints all over my car and there was a small dent. My car is pristine and had no dentals or damage as I clean it myself regularly. I complained to the hotel who were argumentative and would not provide insurer details. I then complained to YourParkingSpace who did not help at all! Quick to take payment but no to resolving issues or taking responsibility. I parked there for 2 days out of 14. Waste of money. Poor location, poor customer service. Avoid.

Not a good hotel, they charge you for parking, breakfast. No proper bar and no restaurant for evening meal. Rooms are tired and small
