Fantastic location, only 10-15 minutes from the city centre, it is at the bottom of a hill, so beware, if, struggle with mobility. Receptionist was very welcoming and helpful when we checked in. You need your room card to be able to call the lift and get access, which is good, as means that people can't just walk in and get up to the rooms. The hotel is basic, but you get what you pay for, the rooms are well equipped, with kettle, tea, coffee making facilities, there is a desk and a chair. Comfortable bed, small bathroom, but has shower, toilet and sink. Ideal if you just want a room, to sleep in and are out exploring in the day. There is a co-op, within a 2 minute walk and a Tesco's, within 5 minutes. Restaurants and coffee shops within easy reach.

Big plus that is located in center, decent clean rooms nothing fancy. Ordered food was good. Breakfast was good but lacked diversity. Downside is that in 2023 they have no free internet which is unacceptable. You have to pay 3 pounds per day and the speed is awful. No EU plugs or adapters, so bring your own. Service can be bad or good depending on the manager you get to be in shift.

Unfortunately, the hotel is not good at all. The pictures are one thing, and the truth is something else. Unfortunately, secondly, in terms of cleanliness, it is not clean, the dust is on the furniture, but in terms of comfort, it is uncomfortable and the inconvenience is a lot.... Moulds everywhere in Bathroom, Rooms needed a deep clean, extractor fan doesn’t work adding more humidity / steam after bath. I do not recommend this hotel Otherwise a well located in Birmingham, hence the star.

Rooms are very small. Great fir 1 person. Feels too crowded for 2. The lady at the reception on the night shift was very accommodating and helpful. Parking can be a nightmare in that area as you need to park on the street. There is a parking a good walking distance from the hotel but we didn't consider using it as unloading the car or walking to the hotel with all the luggage would be a hassle. The on street parking is free after 6pm and om Sundays. So that is a great thing. You can pay on your ring to go app. Overall experience was ok. It wasn't bad. Would go back for certain convinience.

Warning - they will not hold bags due to "health and safety". Something to factor in if you wanted to. Good location only 10 mins walk from curry centre. Room was clean and a regular Travelodge room - you know what you are going to get. Room was very hot and noisy from outside

Room was basic but nice, location for us was ideal but there is no car parking and this can be expensive. The issue we had was the lady on reception who was to busy on her phone speaking to her friend than checking us in... she said she couldn't find our booking then just kept looking at us like it was our fault! eventually someone else came along and was able to find our booking with a few clicks of a mouse - she clearly did not want to be there and it showed. Additionally check out was 12pm which was ideal for us but they evidently expect you to check out before as at 10am we had cleaning knocking on our door to see if we had left!! All in all you definitely get what you pay for and nothing more.

I'll be honest, I booked this hotel and didn't even bother checking in after looking for parking nearby and noticing that people's cars were being smashed for parts. Most recent one was 2 days prior to my due arrival date. I just travelled home and didn't check in. I did not feel safe leaving my vehicle and with no dedicated parking facilities I feel this hotel is pointless unless you do not use a car for travel.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel as the staff is very polite, helpful and lovely nature. Neil even chopped the onion for us and I'd say he was 10/10 in that. It's my birthday today and one of the member of staff even offered me a soft drink on them. In the morning we came down for the breakfast and till the time we came, there was no orange juice left. Claire acknowledged that my father is a bit sad about it and got him the juice from wending machine by herself (no extra charges). Moreover, Bert has been an amazing person as he got all the food hot and fresh. My dad asked him if he can have hot milk, Bert got it for him even when it's not something they normally do I'm glad I chose this hotel as I am getting an exceptional service here.️ Very happy

Quiet and adequately equipped rooms. Good location with 10 minutes to city centre. The building and rooms feel a bit old, but it's very good for the money you pay.

Clean, comfortable Travelodge. Room and bathroom could do with an update but for one night it was fine. Sadly there was a lot of noise outside during the night so had a disturbed sleep despite the comfy bed. The unlimited breakfast was pretty good value.

I booked an overnight stay here, and it met my expectations. LOCATION It’s only a fifteen minute walk or so to the city centre, so not bad. I didn’t experience any noise at night. ROOM What I’d expect from a Travelodge in terms of cleanliness. The bed was comfortable. FACILITIES The shower worked fine. There were tea/coffee facilities and some coat hangers for storage.

Firstly, the manager Clare/Claire that’s at the front desk needs to check herself. We had travelled over 10 hours to get here, we KNEW what time check in was however our bus coming in at 6:30am we thought it would be fine to sit in the reception. We had been there since 7 and started to fall asleep on the couch, never had a problem doing this in any Travelodge/premier inn, however can completely understand if this is not allowed. What I don’t understand is Clare/Claire screaming at us from the reception desk that this is a business that they have to keep the standard for and that we need to look more “lively”. First of all, it’s a travelodge, people book it because it’s cheap, stop acting like you’re in charge of the ritz. Second of all, there’s a way to address someone, if you are trying to keep the professional look of said business screaming from the reception does not fit that standard, it was rude and unnecessary. You have legs, you could have used them to come over to us and speak to us like humans. In addition to this she addressed us as “girls” but addressed every other customer as sir/madame… seems like she had a power trip as she believes we were younger? I can assure you that we are both adults and I expect the same service that you clearly had in your well-being to provide to others. Even when she eventually did check us in her attitude remained the same. However, I cannot fault the younger staff I had the pleasure of interacting with, ALWAYS polite. Please give your staff a refresher on customer service as it seems like it has skipped a generation. Kindness costs nothing :)

Rooms clean comfortable and adequate. Staff very helpful and friendly. Location perfect! The situation near the canal was brilliant, the children had the opportunity to help a canal barge through the gates, and opening and closing them under the instructions of tge lovely gentleman and his wife. They loved it. Not far to walk anywhere of interest.

We stayed for x3 nights. The room was basic but functional and served our needs. For a city centre Travelodge it was actually nice and quiet in terms of noise (inside and out). The basic elements of the room were the only real negatives. There were no USB sockets (Other Travelodges we stay in have these) and only x1 plug socket in the room. Admittedly it was a double but only one of sockets worked. The plug on the kettle was also broken and the plastic casing was missing pieces.

I travelled with my partner 4/08/23 for a short stay . On arrival we were booked in by a lovely , smiling and friendly receptionist named Victoria who was very helpful and a joy to talk to. Our room was very clean had a very comfortable king size bed and lovely fluffy bath towels. The unlimited breakfast was great value. The location in Newhall Street is very central with all the places we wanted to visit well within walking distance. Great hotel great location and fantastic friendly staff. We had a great stay and will book this hotel on our next visit to Birmingham. Tony.

The rooms are clean, the bar served food quickly, the reception was always manned. Shame the discrepancy between Sunday prices and week day prices are so huge or I would be back a lot more. ÂŁ30 on a Sunday against nearly ÂŁ200 on a Wednesday is madness Also be aware the signal in the rooms is okish, not the best but not dead like some, the WiFi however was bad, slow and spotty. Gave up on it after an hour to go back to mobile data

Upon arrival the staff at reception were brilliant, giving a friendly greeting and making me feel instantly at home and welcome. A few PC problems meant it wasn’t the slickest or fastest check-in process but that was no issue given the staff. Despite being a city centre hotel it’s location is down a fairly quiet side street which fortunately means that the noise levels aren’t anything to hamper a good nights sleep. My room was on the first floor, served by a couple of fairly decent lifts which there’s never a need to wait long for. Unfortunately it wasn’t one of the newer refurbished styles but was at least clean and everything you’d expect from the brand. Given the older style meant there were no electric charging sockets next to the bed but fortunately there was no noise from the corridors or adjacent rooms. The bar on the ground floor is open until very early in the morning and although staff are shared between reception and the bar they are all super attentive and friendly, despite having their responsibilities shared between the roles. There’s a TV for keeping up to date with the news and for a Travelodge the atmosphere was decent enough. Overall the sleep quality was great, the value superb and for my needs, location excellent. It’s certainly somewhere I’ll be returning and can’t help but recommend for the value.

I'm a wheelchair user, on arrival of check the staff were very helpful as I had a lot of equipment and they helped us get them out of the car and up to our room. However the day we were going to leave the staff were rude and disrespectful about helping us. Overall experience was good.

Cheap and cheerful compared to other hotels. Nothing wrong with the customer service. The room was ok, bathroom light didn't work properly and no air con through the hot weather. Room had a fan in it but it was so clunky you couldn't leave it on at night. As it's in the city, you couldn't leave the window open for noise. Probably ok in the winter when the weather is cold.

Booked through group bookings for 16 people. When we checked in all room keys were ready and the rooming list as sent (as requested) meant it was easy and quick for all of the people I’d booked in. The bar area was perfect for us to all meet up and it was still open when we came in after our night out - so good for a nightcap. Rooms clean and functional and the place was perfect for central Birmingham and New Street station. Only thing I didn’t like was that if you call group bookings it a premium rate number so we ran up a shocking £12 bill organising the group booking. It wasn’t clear and it left a nasty taste in the mouth.

There is no parking on site but NCP and another car park within 5 mins walk. 24 hour bar and all you can eat breakfast. The room was clean, with all you expect from a Travelodge. The staff were very attentive and answered all my questions. The location is really good for the symphony hall and close to all the city's attractions.

Got there and had to wait as nobody at the desk. Our first was not great pulled the bedding back and the bed sheet had what looked like mould on it the spoons and food menu were filthy.I went down and complained and we were moved to a much cleaner room straight away. The staff are fab it's just a shame the cleanliness let it down.

Giving it 5 rating because overall I enjoyed my stay. 2 adults, toddler and twins baby * staff were lovely and always provided assistance when needed Particularly I needed warm milk for the baby and staff were generous to help which I am grateful. * the restaurant was nice * room is standard deco which needs updating like the other travelodge but still good * great location, just outside of town centre *coop store next door which was great to get quick shopping I would recommend this place.

The room was overwhelmingly hot and we only stayed for one of the booked two night stay because it was too uncomfortable. No shower gel and we didn’t once manage to work the lifts with the keycard !!! … such a shame because the location is excellent and the room serviceable if you could just stay in it without melting ….

Excellent location for the Utilita Arena and good value for money. The room is basic and it is what you would expect from Travelodge. Buffet breakfast is really good value too. Would be better if the tomatoes and mushrooms are cooked a bit longer and if they offer more healthier alternatives. Staff are attentive but don't expect service with a smile. They don't look to be happy working in Travelodge.

I didn't enjoy my stay here. Although the staff were friendly, the room wasn't particularly clean. There were marks on the carpet and on the towels. There were hairs on the desk. There was no hairdryer - this had to be asked for from reception. The paint was peeling off the walls and ceilings and the floor in the bathroom was dirty too. The all you can eat breakfast seemed reasonable for ÂŁ8.99 but it wasn't very good in my opinion. The vegetarian sausages seemed like they had been over-microwaved - they were hard to cut through. The rest of the breakfast food was okay but not particularly enjoyable.

Really nicely situated location for the centre of Birmingham. Really friendly and helpful staff. It was a bit of a shock to not have any bulbs in the bedside lights but apart from that the facilities were fine for us. We'll be back.

Hot and stuffy room which was outdated. Room has no air handling and caught the sun in the morning which made it very hot indeed. Staff were good and pleasant to deal with. Uses one of those outdated magnetic door access cards which are wiped if you put them besides your phone, which leads to having to visit reception desk every time you return to your room.

Been in a lot of Travelodge hotels all over the UK but unfortunately this is one of the bad ones. The rooms and lifts for starters were seriously outdated and the heat inside the rooms were an absolute joke making it impossible to sleep. If you’re in room 415 then be careful with touching the light switches on the bed as you get electric shocks from them. Only good part was the friendly staff which is pretty unusual for a Travelodge. The location itself was OK at best.

Location is good if you want to stay somewhere central. Over the weekend gets noise in the evening due to pub next door. Rooms are clean. Service- could be better. When I came in to check in it was one guy filling drinks in the pub and kept me waiting until he finished there. While I was waiting I hear several calls over the phone. No one answered sue to not enough staff. All in all not worst place where I been so far

Rooms small but functional. Reception staff very helpful. No soap in the shower dispenser and short a towel in the room. Location is OK but would be better with an affiliated car park. By the way, I have also posted the accurate prices of one of the recommended car parks 5 min walk away from the hotel as the one you have at the reception must be an old one.
