Extremely rude and unhelpful staff. Booked room online and was running late due to traffic on motorway. Charged me full amount on my card and did not let me check in. Was stranded without a place to stay the night. Beware of poor service, and book at your own risk! Reply to comment: Why would I thank the staff for staying late when it clearly states online that your reception is open 24 hours?! That makes no sense! If you advertise a service, then honour it. You still charged me for staying the night. Anyone with common sense will see how many negative 1/5 reviews you have on here. Funny when you notice the random 5/5 reviews in between the appalling ones! Clearly reviews written by your team!! If you want positive feedback from guests, I highly recommend you sort your poor customer service out!

What a DUMP. This place is now being used as a B&B hostel for homeless people. It's dirty, and unfit for human habitation. There are no locks on the doors, on the ground floor there is a broken toilet in the shower, no lock on the door. The staff are unhelpful, & rude, I wouldn't allow my dog to stay there. DISGUSTING

I stayed at the Hill View Hotel, after being advised by my colleagues to do so. After booking a room at the hotel, i read some comments which had got me worried. On arrival at the hotel all my doubts were put to rest as i entered the reception to be greeted by Mo, a very helpful young chap who was always there to help. He explained why they received negative reviews and the answer was shocking. After that he gave me a free upgraded! From a standard single room for £30 to a double ensuite room for £55 (room 15). The room was a good sized room, with a very comfortable bed. The room was very clean and the shower was very powerful and was nice and hot, just what is needed in this weather. The breakfast was filling and tasty, portion sizes were great. I’d like to thank all the staff at the Hill View Hotel for making my stay amazing, the staff always went an extra mile to be helpful. Also when ever me and my colleagues are in town we will for sure be returning here! 👍🏻 Would advise anyone to book here as its clean modern and affordable!

I have stayed at many hotels around Great Britain and a few around the world, this hotel needs to upper their standards if they want to be classed as a Hotel. The room was at the normal standard however the shower did stop working as there was no hot water, someone said they will look at it, but no one did. I received a fresh towel for the second day but not another one for the remaining 3days (4days in total). The biggest problem i had with this hotel was the Respect given to me as a customer, there wasnt no "Thank you for staying, or come again" there was nothing, Found them very rude. I suggest if anyone wants to stay at a hotel / B&B to choose someone else. The first and Last time i will be staying here. Shame really, the place had potential.

Car park not easily obvious to find, but decent once we found it! The hotel building itself could do with a bit of a fix up, bit inside we were pleasantly surprised. Nice decor, decent sized rooms and not as "tired" looking as we'd expected. Ultimately, for the price, a decent place to stay. Staff knocking on the door in the morning twice was a bit annoying - asking when we were leaving. But meh.

The hotel is a filthy shambles. Upon arriving we were shown to a room where the sheets had not even been cleaned since the previous occupants. There was no wi-fi despite this being one of the advertising points and the shared bathroom and toilet facilities were disgusting. We complained and asked for money back. The manager agreed to this and after all was sorted, claimed that we had cancelled the room and needed to leave. The process of sorting this out was long and arduous and it was as clear that the owner had used this trick before on previous occupants. The hotel was literally falling apart with parts of the walls held together with sellotape and parts of the ceiling lying on the floor. Worst hotel and nights sleep of the life. Avoid and all costs.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ! I've ignored a bad review of this place as I like to think I'm fair minded and want to give hotels the benefit of the doubt. However, the single room had nowhere to hang clothes, was freezing and the shower /toilet was a joke. When I put shower on the shower tray had no drainage and just ran off onto the floor. The windows were filthy, radiator didn't go higher than slightly warm. When I asked the bloke on the desk for an extra quilt as radiator wasn't working he acted like he was going to go and fix something but never came back ! I know it was a 2 star place and £30 per night but it was a bad experience and I don't recommend it if you want comfort and warmth.

I travelled down from scotland for 5 nights for driving lessons only booked a single room and was upgraded to a double..everything was clean and fresh room cleaned everyday...older gentleman carried my case to room on top floor..breakfast was great..all staff created you with a smile..bed was slightly hard for me but I like a soft mattress and still slept well. didn't expect much except clean room for price got so much more.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone they have many problems such as the staff having a stuck up face especially the one who makes breakfast!! So disrespectful!! Never coming again. And when you have a shower the water changes to cold real quick please upgrade on your showers and the tv definitely it’s so shall can’t really see anything from where the bed is. Few more things get a decent car park man what is that. Left a towel outside my room no one bothers to collect since days!! When I ask for a new towel they make excuses it’s in the laundry apparently. Rooms are so tiny like it’s a little kids room!! The breakfast wasn’t even good it was giving me and my fam upset stomach and letting out gas. I hope people think twice before even booking and I hope you take action seriously.

Upon arrival I was greeted by a child who handled my ‘check in’. I was then told our room had been cancelled as a card payment had been declined. This was very suspicious as the website used does not supply them any card details. Upon asking if there was any other room available I was told ‘no mate, it’s just cancelled ‘. After looking at the poor food hygiene rating and the alarming concerns I left and stayed elsewhere. The next day we received an email saying we had not shown up and that payment could be taken. After phoning the booking company it became clear this hotel operates underhandedly. Thankfully the booking company agreed with us and is reviewing whether this hotel will be listed by them. Dodgy, dodgy, dodgy. Stay well away!
