I have stayed here several times in the last 12 years. We even stayed on our honeymoon. It has taken a severe downturn. It used to be really clean, nice rooms and beds, good service. I recently stayed and will not stay again. My room was dirty, mold on the AC unit. Dated, off putting room. Shower did not drain. Bathroom was patched poorly and overall the whole room was dingy. This was a double bed room on the 17th floor. Elevator floors were constantly dirty (no snow to blame it on). Quite a few dogs so I could smell that as well. Lobby was dirty, especially the chairs which were noticeably stained and filthy. Breakfast was okay but odd small things like the tray under the cereal being covered in torn, old foil. Hot tub is now closed, it's boarded around and caution taped. Lights were out in the pool room, it felt dingy and creepy. Cold. Pool was freezing and gross. It was either quite dirty or very stained. I asked for assistance and was only offered a similar room and I didn't have time to switch so I stayed. No other refund was given. Overall just bummed out about it. Have loved it in the past, it's a good location and the shuttle has been good. Will no longer stay there.

Rolled in at 3:30am after a 14 hr drive...tired and crabby. Jonathan at the front desk checked me in and was SO nice, smiling, friendly and helpful I couldn't help but be in a better mood. I stayed here many many years ago and I am so happy to see its been maintained very well! The bed was very comfortable and since I sleep on a memory foam bed at home I am miserable in most hotels but this wad great! The room was good size and clean. Breakfast was great. And this hotel has the fastest elevators I have ever been in! I also felt safe unloading my car un the middle of the night. The only bad thing I could say is they were out of sugar free sweetener for coffee......and if that's the worst thing that happens to me today it's going to be an AWESOME DAY! Thank you againJonathan 😀

The location was great, I thought the rooms were really nice for the price u literally couldn’t beat it but when I stayed there I woke up with 12 bug bites all over my body. The apologized and changed my rooms and even in the new room I had 3 new bites it was really unfortunate cause I liked the hotel but I won’t be staying here again. Also breakfast could be better the sausage is extremely salty, and I found a hair in my eggs so I just stick with oatmeal and bread at that point.

I did not have a great experience. I got there before 10PM from the airport. There was nobody at the front desk and I had to wait about 10 minutes before someone did show up. I was exhausted from a pain in the @ss trip and really just wanted to get to bed ASAP. I was given a room on a higher floor. You get the vibe that even though this hotel has like 18 floors and plenty of people staying there, that everyone is staying on maybe three of the floors. Makes you wonder about the overall state of the rest of the hotel that people aren't spread out a little bit more. Get to my room, one of the keys doesn't seem to work at all. The other key finally lets me in after 5 attempts. I get in and it is obvious that someone had stayed there the night before and the room was not really cleaned. The bed was remade, but had hairs on the sheets and pillows. There were 5 cans of Dr. Pepper on the desk, a bag full of Chinese Takeout trash, an dirty hoodie on the floor. The towels and toiletries were new, but the old toiletries were still in the tub. Heater/AC wouldn't run for more than a minute at a time on either hot or cold setting. No coffee cups for the coffee maker. Bed didn't have evidence of bed bugs so I removed all the hairs I could find and used the pillows that appeared unused. After it took so long just to get in the room, I really didn't wanna go back down and complain and roll the dice again. I was tired. So I took the trash out to the trash can by the elevator (which was already overflowing), and got to sleep. Slept ok. Breakfast was ok, I wasn't hungry and didn't have much. Power outlets on either side of bed were too loose to keep a phone charger plugged in. I just expected a little better from a reputable brand in a decent location. Staff was nice enough at least. But housekeeping is phoning it in, big time. The garbage can by the elevator was still overflowing when I left and housekeeping staff was present on the floor. Like, hello??

TLDR: Faded, dilapidated and minimum effort. Decent value of money, “pet friendly”means extra charges per day. Seems current owners are not interested in updating anything, except where absolutely needed and cheapest possible. Longer version: We had to come to MN for two days for business. Since we almost exclusively stay at LQ due to their general cleanliness and “pet friendly” status. Plus, Wyndham owns them, so general speaking- there are certain quality guidelines they must follow. This was NOT the case here. From the little things, like the outlets being so old and worn, a charger wouldn’t even firmly stay plugged in, and it resulted in not being able to charge phones or iPads. (See picture) We found work around by plugging them into the outlets? in the tiny microwave. Layers of dirt and dust in corners, and layers of paint on the walls that were cracked or so thick they split. The AC/Heat units were easily 20 years old, and while you think you can set the temps, you can’t. It’s remotely controlled from elsewhere. If you don’t believe me, turn the unit off, and it will still kick on by itself to heat or cool according to the parameters set remotely. To give you are clear picture, imagine a really nice but small hotel room from 10 years ago, and then imagine nothing replaced or updated , but worn out and painted over. It’s like the current ownership bought a dying hotel and is attempting to eke out every last drop of revenue at the cost of “savings”. This is usually where i would say “well the price charged should have indicated quality,” But I will tell you that it was not worth the $75 a night plus $50 per night for the “pet friendly” fee. The bathroom exhaust fans do not work which allows the humidity and steam to layer in on every surface and just…stay there. There is a sticky slimy layer to every surface and random long hairs up high everywhere which tells me the same cleaning towels used for the showers or sinks are used on the walls. All that said: I am a small business owner and I truly understand the value of money. I try to be frugal and find value before spending. But, after this experience, I would have happily paid another $200.00 for our two night stay to not experience this again, and we will do so next time. Also- do not try to pay cash for their highly marked up cost snacks at the front desk, you would assume you would at least get cold drinks and snacks that don’t look like they have been repeatedly crumpled or left out. Capitalism is boss, and if you don’t like the prices, don’t buy it. But I would hope onerous get drinks that weren’t lukewarm and crumpled snacks for the price. Speaking of, they refuse to take cash for the snacks, and they won’t let you add them to your room charges to settle at the end of your stay. We are talking about $14.00 here, when they have taken a $100.00 deposit on top of all the other fees and charges, on top of the room rates. “Bloody boomer” is the response some of you have, because you have no concept of life or reality. You are not the target for this, nor do I care about educating your mentality. I am including pictures of the stuff mentioned above, because anyone can write bad things online, I do try to provide proof.

I was very pleasantly surprised...I chose this hotel for its price, since I was just overnighting for a conference in town. The room was surprisingly spacious, clean and well appointed. Is truly was one of the nicer hotels I have stayed in, and that's including some far fancier (and pricier) places in downtown Chicago. Staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable! I'll definitely be back when I'm in Minneapolis.

Only stayed one night, they knocked on the door at 8:40am for housekeeping. Went to our room and someone was in it, turns out they had just did an update to computers the man at the front desk quickly fixed it and gave us another room. Breakfast wasn't good and had very few selections for having so many floors and such a large breakfast area you'd think they'd have more. Prefer laquinta in duluth mn. Fine to stay but I'd go out for breakfast

I left quite disappointed. The hotel has so much potential. They definitely need new management at this hotel. Someone who takes pride in the hotel and cares for the customers. The breakfast was a 2/10. Food was mostly leftover from the day before, no selection. Extremely unhealthy options. Room was great. Hotel was mostly clean. Pool was a joke. Shouldn’t even be open to the public. It was freezing and looked like a dump.

Excellent rooms, service, and price. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good and well presented, and the rooms were a step above most hotels. Rooms were clean, modern, everything worked and simple things like towels were a grade above most hotels. Showers were great with instant hot water. Considering everything, we'll stay here next time we're in the area.

I only wanted to make a review of the front desk service. I was very impressed with the nice lady behind the desk helping us after the hotel sent us to a hotel without a shuttle back. She kept her cool while my husband unloaded his frustrations. She never waivered even when there were other people waiting for help. And she even let the airport know of their stupidity. Thank you for keeping your cool and still being nice.

Very nice hotel!! 🏨 I stayed for a week a few years ago!! Liked enough to come back years later! Great location near the Mall Of America and all the other restaurants and entertainment. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, beautiful lobby with great service!! All the bells 🔔 and whistles!!! A great night sleep 😴 💤 for sure:))))

This is a review for a stay in November 2022 so not recent. Went with my wife and two toddlers for a zoo trip. Desk staff was accomodating and generally nice, maybe not in the best mood but not rude. Anyway, the rooms were great for the price and the breakfast was 6/10, better than no breakfast for sure. The only issue was that the hot tub was under repairs at the time and the pool was freezing cold, but my two children still laughed and played on the shallow end stairs for about an hour, making the other pool-goers laugh. Good experience for us. I'd expect no more and no less from LaQuinta 😀

Bed was comfortable and breakfast was decent but that’s all I’ll say positive. My husband & I stayed here for two nights for a concert. I noticed all the bathroom toiletries were different brands which I had never come across at a hotel before. All the bottles seemed partially used too which was weird. The night my husband checked in there was a lot of yelling & chaos happening in the lobby but that’s not the worst of all of our experiences. On the Sunday morning that we were going to check out, our car got jacked in the back parking lot. Theft of catalytic converters are on the rise & that’s exactly what happened to us - at 9am no less. The rooms have sliding doors that don’t open so we weren’t able to yell any warning to the thieves. And when telling the front desk and police, they were aware this occurs here. To make it worse, no cameras in the lot to help with our case. Needless to say, it was a very loud 4 hour drive back home. Another guest mentioned they had to call police the night before due to suspicious activity in the parking lot. Spend the extra dollars and stay somewhere else.

Our room felt a bit on the small side, but felt clean and cozy. Front staff on check-in seemed to have an attitude problem. Hot tub was non functional, and pool was fairly small in comparison to other hotels. Surprised how noisy the hallways were after midnight. Walls seem pretty thin. Breakfast was so-so. Wasn't a whole lot to choose from. Juices tasted like water with flavoring. Wasn't a bad stay, but have had better stays in other hotels. Also, the parking lot is horrendous with pot holes. How these aren't fixed and how it got like this is beyond my comprehension.

My go to place to stay is the Laquinta Bloomington. I love the staff. Jonathan has checked me in a few times and always has a warm smile on his face and greets me. If I have any issues he has helped me get them resolved. The rooms are always clean and if I need anything extra (towels, soaps, etc) they are more than happy to accommodate and make my stay smooth, quiet and comfortable. I love that they also provide a nice complimentary breakfast. I always recommend to friends and family if they want to stay somewhere nice. The Bloomington Laquinta on American Blvd is a great place to go.

Rooms are big and neat and clean. Prices is reasonable like I got it for $99 USD. Breakfast not that good but just okay for the price I paid. Pool wasn't working and the staffs were not that welcoming and helpful for clarification. Have good car parking spot especially if you tow the vehicle..

Requested a handicapped room well in advance of our stay but was informed it is still first come first served. The young man at the desk told us he could refund our money and we could go elsewhere; at 11pm that was not what I wanted to hear. Why have the option to request a handicapped room if it can't be guaranteed? Being handicapped is not a choice and the request was made out of necessity. All that being said, we made due. Our room was good, minus the walk in shower request. Breakfast was great...loved my waffles! The breakfast crew were bit grumpy when informed that certain supplies were needed. I get that they were busy, but schedules were trying to be kept...planes to catch and all. 7 out of 10 overall.

Amazing rooms. Comfy beds. Fridge, microwave and tv. Staff charged my card for my entire stay versus just holding my card for incidentals even though the room was already prepaid through their website! Each staff member I spoke to you gave me a different story asked to what was happening, which made my stay miserable considering they took a significant amount of money off of my card. You have to reserve your shuttle from the airport Which comes at the top of every hour. They state that they will shuttle you to any venue that you want but when trying to go to Mall of America which is 10 minutes away the only shuttle they had was at 6 PM and they would pick you up at 8:20 PM, the mall closes at 8 PM so you have to stand outside underneath warming lights which don’t work until the shuttle comes. We used the shuttle two times and each time it was late by 30 to 40 minutes. Even with that being said I tried to go to the mall called them at 5:45 and they said the last shuttle goes out at 6 PM but it was too late to order the shuttle because the driver was already doing other things. The breakfast was horrible the only salvageable thing would be the waffles. The apples were not even good. The milk tasted gross and there was nothing except sugar for your coffee. No eggs or yogurts. “Hash browns” Were simply just potatoes cooked with no frying or seasoning. The hot tub does not work and they will no longer be using it because it’s broken and cost too much to fix it according to staff, the pool has way too much chlorine in it and it’s freezing cold. I am giving this a 2 star because the rooms themselves were fine.

The room was very nice and clean. The AC/head was functional. Nice sized bathroom. Breakfast was good and consisted of breads, bagels, English muffins, cereal, instant oatmeal, waffles, yogurt, eggs, and sausage. Check in and check out was fast. Very satisfied with my stay. Also noticed a pet friendly sign.

I have stayed here a few times and am always impressed by the service and amenities offered. Mark was super friendly and accommodating. Rooms are always clean. TVs could be bigger but you are able to sign into Netflix so it could be just my preference of big TVs. Easy on and off access to MAO & Airport. I love the park and stay option. Breakfast has eggs, sausage, Belgian waffles, cereal, yogurt, bread, juice. One of my favorite hotels. Will return!

The highlight is the breakfast. Waffles are good. Beds definitely are not queen size...full size is more accurate. With that being said the rooms are clean and it's comfortable. The parking lot is beat up. The elevators are nice and fast. The pool area is in the lower level and was fun but a little bit of a small space. The hot tub is closed

We have stayed here for more years than I can count. Had a horrible experience last year but gave it as an off year and tried again. Don't do it! The shuttle is running between both hotels which gave us a 2 hour wait. My son and family now coming home with over a 2 hour wait also. Shuttle driver straight up rude! Will never stay here again!

The property is old and there was weird smell in the lobby and the room. I had to ask for room freshness and spray every half an hour. The front desk staff was nice.

This is a nice hotel for the price. Rooms were clean and nice. Breakfast had a lot if options. But what impressed me most was the staff, especially Louis (I hope I got his name right)We were in town for a memorial service and tensions were a little high. There was a problem with my parents’ reservation. It was an odd situation. We were freaking out a little but Louis went above and beyond to figure it out and take care of us. He remained calm and took care of the issue that didn’t appear to be his or the hotel’s fault. Working with stressed out customers can be trying but this young man kept his cool and was very kind to us

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times throughout the years and have enjoyed the experience. I have witnessed the hotel become a victim to wear and tear and is in need of repairs. After our 2 day stay, I was charged $300 USD within an hour of us checking out. I reached out to expedia, who contacted the hotel and said it was a hold that will be released in 5 business days. 2 weeks go by and it was not refunded. I contacted the hotel and they said it was for damages. I requested to hear back from the manager and never received a call. I am in Canada so I am paying long distance charges.. I called again twice and still no call back. They have not called me back nor provided me with proof of the "damages". I am not responsible to pay for your hotel upgrades. It has been 3 weeks and no one from the hotel has returned my call. Be careful when booking with hotel! Update: still haven't heard back and got the most generic response from the hotel. It is like they never read my review, how pathetic.. maybe hire more competent employees to do their job

Room size was decent for the area. Room was clean. Power outlet on the lamp next to the bed was not functional. Housekeeping tried to come in to clean our room 3 times before we checked out. The first time was 8 AM and everyone in the room WAS sleeping. Breakfast ends at 9 and was very picked through.

Great breakfast selection. The room we stayed in was nice, but there was still quite a bit of hair on the shower wall from a previous guest. Elevators were quick. The pool was ok - a previous reviewer said the pool was cold, and that’s definitely true. We cut our pool time short because of that. And the hot tub was out. I didn’t notice any baggage carts, which I thought was odd for such a large hotel. Overall, this was a decent place to stay in the area despite its quirks.

Like many traveling over the holidays, my wife and I found ourselves stranded at the Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport, and were given vouchers for a hotel. We chose this La Quinta. The staff were friendly and helpful— we did have an issue with one staff member’s behavior; however, the issue was handled promptly which was much appreciated. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable, and we enjoyed the breakfast (eggs, waffles, fresh coffee, toast, etc.). I hope we don’t get stranded in Minneapolis again, but if we do we now know a nice place to stay!

This hotel is okay, but not if your expecting to enjoy their pool and hot tub like my family was, the pool area temp was perfect but the pool was ICE COLD!!! And the hot tub was empty. The janitor basically said that maintenance is not available but during "day" hours and not sure when it would be fixed so my husband and I did not swim as we would have liked to and definitely didn't get to relax in the hot tub as we were hoping to. Our room was decent nothing to brag about but a few things that bugged me was our dresser drawers wouldn't stay shut they kept opening by them selves, the divider door wouldn't stay open so I used some tissue to prop it open, and the thing you put your coffee bag in so it can make coffee it literally is too small kept falling out and made a big mess. Unfortunately we missed breakfast but was looking forward to the hot options. Also their parking lot was not very well plowed lucky we have a truck and could get in and out a spot without getting stuck.

Stayed here for a quick overnight 10/7. Room 316. King bed, end of hall. Everything about this stay was stellar. Check in was quick, young man was friendly and very efficient. Room was super clean. Loved the flooring. Breakfast was plentiful with eggs, cereals, sausage, waffles, yogurt, various breads/muffins.

We have stayed there for years and have not returned since Covid. We were really disappointed to find out it was credit only to stay, we like to pay cash. The breakfast was awful. There was waffles, cereal, toast and a different egg choice each day. There used to be more hot choices, oatmeal, muffins, fruit and yogurt. I did ask where the fruit and muffins were, and I was told all gone from the weekend. All paying guests should have the same options regardless if you stay on the weekend or during the week. I guess we got what we paid for. 😞

The stay was good, the staff was nice. The breakfast is terrible, even getting down early gave you cold sausage or potatoes and the French toast sticks were not completely cooked and somehow bland. The staff helped me get a new room that was right next to the one I had after extending our stay which was nice, and my original review was 5 stars. However, my wife accidentally left her medication in a drawer there and we called the hotel. They always seemed happy to help but no one really ever did. I always had to call back to find out if anything happened and strangely, they had always "done" whatever they said they would be never bothered to call me with any kind of update. The feeling is they didn't really do any of it and just keep telling me they did so I'll stop calling and bothering them. This is medication my wife needs to live. And while I accept it is not the responsibility of the hotel to ensure it's safety or return, the lack of urgency and even follow through has been frustrating. The room was empty and yet they couldn't even bother to go up one floor to check to see if anything is in there for 2 days. After not finding anything it took them another day at least to get back to me about any of the help finding anything. We now have to find $600+ dollars to replace all of it or I can just watch my wife die. And again, this isn't all on the hotel, but they sure didn't seem to care enough to give a moment to go check nor did they care enough to give any kind of update when they claim to have followed through. The medication was left in that room. We went straight from the hotel to our car to home. There is no where else it could be. Someone had to have taken it that has access to that room.

The stay at this LaQuinta was really comforting. At first glance, we thought the hotel room was pretty small, old, and were bummed out the patios weren’t able to be accessed. When we checked out the pool, we were stunned because it looked out-dated, but we enjoyed our stay here nonetheless! We found the pool enjoyable even though there wasn’t much to it, and were bummed that the hot tub wasn’t working. The only real big downside was the breakfast. The orange juice tasted extremely watered down, and the options were pretty limited. The biggest things that mattered though was the cleanliness of our rooms & the friendliness of the staff! The rooms were tidy and clean but the walls were very thin, and we could be heard (talking in normal tone) from outside the room and we could hear others talking and moving around outside of ours. All of us found the beds uncomfortable, and all of my friends had one night where they all would wake up every hour or so due to noise. We booked this place due to the lower price in Minneapolis and since it was near everything, so if you’re looking for a budget place this is a good option, but consider everything listed above!
