At a distance of 700 m from Mahabodhi Temple, and 1 km from Bodh Gaya Bus Station, Wat Thai is a Thai monastery located in Bodhgaya, Bihar. Popularly known as Thai Monastery, Wat Thai Buddhagaya was established in 1956 by the government of Thailand on the request of the former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. The monastery was constructed with an idea of propagating the philosophies of Buddhism among the masses. It is the only Thai Temple in India. The place abounds with peace and serenity and is ideal for solace seekers and those looking for a break from the humdrum of city life.

This temple was closed due to Covid during my visit to Bodh Gaya. I just got a glimpse of this temple from the outside. The architecture of this temple is the next level and very very beautiful, I believe inside the temple is even more beautiful.

A beautiful Thai Buddhist temple. Then temple premises also having area to depict Thai culture, so as tourists/visitor can take photograph also. The temple is beautiful having dragon outside the temple, seems as protector. Inside the temple God Buddha statue is there. There is a place for people who are learning the teaching of Budha.

Established back in 1957 by the combined effort of Buddhist monks and the government of Thailand, the magnificent Thai Monastery aims at preaching the philosophies of Buddhism. The architecture of the monastery and the customs and rituals practiced here offer a deep insight of the rich Thai culture. The temple flaunts a curved sloping roof adorned with stunning golden tiles. The Thai Monastery is also home to a 25 meters tall intricately carved bronze statue of Lord Buddha, which rests in the garden of the temple. You can also see many carved images of Lord Buddha, Buddhist objects, and Buddhist symbols displayed inside the monastery.

Wat Thai Bodhgaya is a Buddhist temple located in Bodhgaya, Bihar, India. The temple is built in the Thai architectural style and is designed to resemble the famous Wat Phra Kaew temple in Bangkok, Thailand. The temple was established in 1957 by the Thai government and is dedicated to the Buddha and the teachings of Buddhism. It is a popular destination for Thai pilgrims and visitors and is known for its vibrant colors, intricate carvings, and ornate decorations. The main attraction of the temple is the large Buddha statue, which is made of white marble and stands at a height of 25 feet. The statue is surrounded by several smaller statues and carvings depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha. The temple complex also includes a meditation hall, a library, and living quarters for the monks and nuns who reside in the temple. The temple offers regular meditation classes and spiritual retreats, as well as Thai language classes and cultural programs. Visitors to the Wat Thai Bodhgaya can also enjoy Thai cuisine at the temple's restaurant, which serves traditional Thai dishes and snacks. Overall, Wat Thai Bodhgaya is a unique and special destination that offers visitors a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Thailand and its connection to Buddhism. It is a must-visit destination for those interested in Buddhism and Thai culture.
