Visited the Jolly many times since it has reopened under new management. I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with the food and staff. Minor teething issues to be expected as a new team looks to deal with the demands of busy public trade. Helen and her team strive to offer well priced food with good quality for the customer.

Considering only just back open, and them finding the ropes and dealing with myriad of hassles, the food today was MOST EXCELLENT. Great chef's they've found, great menu, great surprises, and excellent beer to-boot. Enjoyed being back in there after a) lockdown, b) shut-down and c) a bad illness I'm still recovering from. Well done you lot.

The pub, was clean, and the food was delicious. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and went the extra mile with our food. Thank you for your service.

Had Sunday lunch here today. We waited an hour and a half for the food and only got an apology when it finally came. There weren’t many people in there so there is no excuse for this slow service. The veg was cold and hard. The potatoes were obviously frozen and not fresh as they were dry. The gravy was clearly instant gravy and all four of us left our roast dinners. When I wanted to speak to the manager she was rude, abrupt and tried arguing with me. She refused to take any of our food off the menu even though we didn’t eat it and offered no solution. After debating with her rudeness we managed to come to an agreement to take two of our meals of the cheque. We won’t ever return and most definitely wouldn’t recommend!

Visited for the first time today on a Sunday at lunch time. Prices very reasonable, but the food was very poor quality. We ordered a children's meal, chicken burger, rib eye steak with peppercorn sauce and a smothered chicken burger and sweet potato fries. We waited an hour for our food despite the restaurant being empty besides our table. The steak was mostly fat, very chewy. Peppercorn sauce was watery and flavourless. Chunky chips incredibly oily, mushrooms overcooked and dry so I didn't bother to try those. Partners burger was a breaded chicken burger, overcooked he said the sweet potato fries were okay. The chicken burger for my daughter was not sent out instead a VERY dry and plain beef burger was sent out. No sauce no Lettuce. She didn't eat it. The staff were somewhat apologetic and took my daughters burger off the bill. We won't be returning.

It was the first time visiting the pub. We booked a table online for late afternoon (booking wasn't really needed as it seemed we were the only people eating). Our drinks and food order was taken. Drinks were served quickly. Unfortunately it took nearly an hour for the food to be prepared which didn't affect us as we were in no hurry. The sizes of the meals were very good, in fact we could not finish everything that was served. The quality was excellent. We will definitely be returning.

Was booked as a party of 9 of us. Very busy. Food was good. But bit of issue with service and waiting for rest of the main meals ect hunters chicken came then waiting 10 minutes or more for the chips to come.. a young girl serving us was amazing . Nearly every table she was serving food.. waited a while to visit. Unfortunately didn't reach our expectations

Visited today with my friend and we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were friendly and the food was nice, as was the real ale. Hope to return soon.

Beer good but unfortunately food poor. Service in the restaurant by two kids doing their best but didn’t see any support from management. My burger was so overcooked and dry that I couldn’t eat it (the fries were good), the mixed grill was massive but again overcooked. Sorry but won’t be returning.

Food. Atrocious, had a roast beef dinner, the beef looked like the old microwave packet beef, carrots and the quarter parsnip was soggy and covered in oil.the roast POTATO was ok ish, the extra ones i ordered were almost passable. Yorkshires were burnt on top ans swimming in oil inside. Cauliflower cheese had the cheapest cheese available an came cold. The gravy was passable. Beef burger was dry and flavourless and mildly warm and the fries were freezing cold Chicken skewres were stone cold !!! And came with our main as if theyd been waiting the whole time. Service... miserable and seemed as they didnt want to be there more interested in friends that were around. Beer, first pint tasted yeasty. Overall, if you fancy a game of pool and a pint youll be ok, when it comes to food try a packet of peanuts !!!!

I nipped in today before work, had the loaded chicken burger 🍔 which was beautiful, had a couple of bitter shandy, staff were polite, food came quick, new owners are a credit, better than before the pandemic. 🍻

What a beautiful local pub, I went to see a live band play as they have them playing some Sundays and most Wednesday's. They play some very good songs and adds to a great evening out. They have some very nice draft beer including my favourite Flat cap from bank top, lovely pint. Great food as well. What more do you need on a Wednesday night good beer, good food and great entertainment.

Great food for a family eat out. Reasonably priced and the drinks were good too. I can see this becoming a regular eatery for me and my family.

So my review is me just me doing a flying visit as we delivered an entrance easel and our baby boxes which we (Bolton Balloon Fairies) provide to hire. Upon entry you get the warmth family feeling, the decor is modern, the staff were very friendly and there was ample space to hold an occasion, there is an easy accessible wheelchair entrance and I would definitely recommend taking a visit whether it be for a drink, family meal or to have an occasion. A very well looked after place and was very clean.

Went to the Jolly with a friend and our kids today. Service wasn't up to the usual standard. Items missing from orders that took too long to arrive. I asked for 1/2 roast chicken dinner and was presented with a dry chicken breast. My friend asked for her food without mash and it still came on the plate, the waitress scraped it off the plate but not entirely. I wouldn't say it was good value for money either. Overall, I think they need to do better. It wasn't as if the place was busy either. There were 3/4 tables in that had almost finished when we arrived. Based on my last two/three experiences, I won't be returning any time soon.

Great pub, our local, went for tea couple of days ago, Lasagne was excellent and hubbies mixed grill was OK, but we were both bit miffed with our side dish of triple cooked chips, we got 7 chips only!!! Disappointed, other than that foods good.

Absolutely appalling. Steak cold chips not what was said. Burgers square on kids meal that could break the walls. Peepers sauce was a 1 tablespoon. Absolutely shocking and the chef was about 10 years old. Landlady just shrugged her shoulders. RUDE. Asked for my grandsons sudae was told he can't have it due to the icecream not right. I had paid for this at this point. So I asked for a refund. Before you know it he had a sudae. I will see now if he is going to be ill or whether they just couldn't be bothered

Table booked for 13 people. 1 of the Kids meals way over cooked, chicken goujons were hard and black, inside chicken was very dry. Expected better as restaurant our food order for 24hrs previous. Adults and kids burger and chips was the same portion size. Only difference was adults was on brioche buns and came on a slate slab rather than a plate. Other meals and desserts can't fault

Cheap and cheerful. The staff do well with okay produce. There was some chewy meat and suspiciously frozen salad but otherwise the flavours were alright considering it's not expensive. Staff friendly and helpful, abatement would do well to invest more in fresh quality produce. No music and not much atmosphere for a Saturday afternoon but pleasant and peaceful enough

Food it good but hardly any option for vegitarian I contacted them directly and was given 3 option only suitable for vegitarians if you ate vegitarian I would save your money and go elsewhere.

Decent but over priced and limited variety when it comes to food. Drinks where fairly priced I suppose also found the layout a little crampt inside and had many issues when trying pay by card. No perosnlay a place I'd recommend.

10 of us went for a meal yesterday and not 1 of us enjoyed the food. For a start the menu was very limited, the portions were small a the food was tasteless. On the plus side, the service was good.
