I went there for the Thursday steak night. A steak with fries, salat and a Beer for just $25 The place was quit empty, which surprised me, because the food was really nice and worth more than they ask for it. They have everyday a different menu for $25.

We came for Thursday Steak Night! $25 - great value, a healthy side of fries, salad and a beer or wine. The steak was cooked pretty well, although my friends felt theirs was a bit beyond their ordered medium rare. Mine was a good medium. Seasoning on the chips was good and you could choose your own sauce for the steak from about 5-6 different options. Would definitely come back!

Thank you for providing the best experience for my 60th birthday celebration. You gave us a great room for my party of 20 and the service and food was fantastic. Nothing was too much effort even though I changed my booking several times leading up to the actual event. I will always be grateful. Also we (my husband and I) often go for a Sunday lunch and always love the food and have always had excellent service.

I'd like to begin by praising the exceptional staff - they were incredibly warm and friendly, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Next, the ambiance truly stood out. The interior design was impressive, and the overall comfort of the place added to the experience. Now, let's talk about the food, which was an absolute delight. Every dish was not only fresh but also served piping hot and perfectly seasoned. I must highlight the excellently prepared salmon, a special credit to Vishal for that. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to my friends and can't wait to visit again.

We can’t help going back to Wayside Inn every second week since we discovered it!! Their specials are such great values - $18 for food and a drink. We have tried mini-ribs (Mondays) and bangers & mash (Saturdays) nights - the ribs are not mini at all :) Other menu items are also very tasty. Our favorites are Moroccan lamb salad and Mexican parma- absolutely delicious!!! Staff are so friendly and helpful, food comes out quick, atmosphere is great, nothing to complain.

Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was really friendly. I had the Mexican Parma which I really enjoyed (and that comment doesn’t come often). We had a table of 19 for a party on a Wednesday night. It was quiet until we arrived. Overall we enjoyed our visit and would return.

I just finished the steak and it was absolutely delicious! Soft and perfect medium rare! The salad dressing was fantastic and the chips were perfectly cooked! For 22$ with a glass of wine (or any beer) l, this is your place in Melbourne on a Thursday night! Highly recommend!!

We booked a table at 2045H online. We reached there at 2030H and were told that the last order was over! However, after showing my reservation via email to the manager Vinny, he said he would make an exception as the online system was auto- generated and he acknowledged their mistake. The baby back ribs were one of the most delicious! The meat just fell off the bone. The BBQ sauce that went with it was excellent as well. The prosecco paired so well with it too. Thanks Vinny and your team for making my dinner an enjoyable one!

One of the best parmas I have ever had. Side salad was delicious and the chips were really good. Staff were very friendly. We were there on a Saturday evening at it was very quiet. I can't understand why that is. Reasonable prices and great food and staff. Will be back.

We came here on a Thursday at 5:45, and were seated immediately. The first thing I noticed on sitting down was the smell of vinegar and the slight stickiness of the table, I think they might clean their tables with a vinegar solution. The waitstaff were very prompt with asking if we were ready to order, so prompt that we needed an extra minute or two! Since we came on a Thursday, they had a special of a $25 steak with either a beer, cider or wine. We chose the cider, and also ordered a chicken parmigiana. The dishes arrived after maybe 15-20 minutes, and were piping hot. The chicken parmigiana was excellent. Crispy chicken with a flavourful crumb coating, well seasoned Napoli sauce (we think they might make it in house) and well browned cheese. It came with a side of well seasoned chips, and a standard garden salad. The steak was as pretty good for the price, decently sized with minimal fat, and came with the same chips and salad, plus the cider and a pepper sauce. We ate, paid the bill and left within 40 minutes. At the end of the day, the food was really good for the price point, as we spent $52.88 for two people. Unfortunately, they were playing very loud music which was rather off putting, and the smell of vinegar made me a little nauseous. Also, we paid by card, and were charged a surcharge. My understanding is if you are charging a surcharge, you have to disclose that somewhere in the menu, but I couldn’t see any such disclaimer. At the end of the day, we would definitely come back for the food, not so for the ambiance.

We ordered salmon meal and fish and chips meal. Salmon was overcooked and dry. Battered fish had an indian spice flavour and not pleasant at all and only consumed half of it because we were hungry. Staff service was acceptable but nothing special. This Hotel used to offer meal with drink for $18, then it went to $22 now its $25 all within 1-2 years. Atmosphere and patronage has gone down significantly. Highly unlikely I will ever return. I much prefer Bells Hotel on Moray Street, South Melbourne.
