Great Indian food at Rogan Josh in Upper Ferntree Gully. This was a suggested place to me and I was not disappointed. Have been pleased with a couple of other Indian restaurants in the vicinity but happy to give Indian Rogan Josh a go. Tried their Butter Chicken - Rogan Josh restaurant Specialty and Wow! Best Butter Chicken I have ever tried. Flavorsome and tasty, perfect to my liking. Plan to visit for a sit in dinner soon.

We occasionally get takeaway from here, we order the family feast for the two of us & we get three meals out of it, the dishes are usually quite tasty, packed with authentic Indian spices & flavours, the butter chicken is always our fav. This time we were a little disappointed as the entrees & naan bread were all burnt, dry & not as good as usual. In regards to the owners comment - your standard of customer service & quality of your meals “shouldn’t” drop due to how “busy” you are - if anything - your standard should rise to keep your customers coming back!

Folks $39.95 for a banquet for 2 is just incredible value (with leftovers) Food is first class, fresh and quality plus! No other Indian in the region compares. We are loyal customers. Special shout out to JD for his exceptional customer service and customer loyalty skills!!! Customers for life!!

Butter chicken curry is sooo delicious and creamy with plenty of vegetarian options. The serving is also quite generous too My friends and I enjoyed our night here and the ambience is really beautiful

My favorite Indian restaraunt in Melbourne/suburbs. Literally EVERY single Indian friend I've taken here, has enjoyed the food. Naan here is proper unlike some places around the place. Food is well priced and the atmosphere is very nice. 4.5 stars doesn't do this place justice.

The food here is EXCELLENT - highly, highly recommend. Never had a bad meal. Star dishes are butter chicken and biriyani. However, they really need to improve their service. We come here regularly and the staff are always unfriendly whether it is quiet or busy. They just point to your table and don't hand out menus or take drink orders. Each time we have to flag them down to take orders and then get the eye roll and told that they are understaffed and busy (apparently each time we have attended in the last 6 months). There's been multiple occasions where the meals we have received are different to what we ordered because they just quickly take down your order and trod on off like you are an inconvenience to them. Never a thank-you for coming, just pass you the card machine and don't communicate anything or ask how the meals were. There's a lovely Indian restaurant down the road with exceptional service, it's hard to continue supporting somewhere that is so unappreciative of their regular customers. I suggest that they go there themselves and see the difference it can make to their business.

I get this from a couple of suburbs away because it is head and shoulders better than anything else I've had nearby. There are probably 30+ Indian places near me and I've ordered from most. Most are similar and good, but this place is on a different level and absolutely stands out.

I visited this restaurant with my friends. staff is very polite and understanding. Came lot of times here, never disappointed. The food was great. Best dishes I have tried are butter chicken, lamb Rogan josh, goat masala, paneer masala and bread was tasty must try Kashmiri naan, keema naan and paneer naan as well as aloo paratha.

We arrived at the restaurant around 5pm on a Friday evening without a reservation and was promptly seated. As the evening progressed, I noticed the restaurant gradually filling up with customers, and there was a steady stream of takeaway orders coming in. If you plan on arriving after 6pm, I would strongly advise making a reservation in advance. Regarding the food, we decided to order a lamb rogan josh, goan fish curry, a plain naan, and a plain paratha. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but I personally would have preferred it to have been spicier. The standout dish of the evening was definitely the paratha, and I highly recommend pairing it with any of the curries!

Outstanding flavour, the Punjabi chicken curry was mouthwatering. Wonderful butter chicken. The naan is fluffy and super tasty!

We are always very happy with the food from Rogan Josh. My husband loves the butter chicken and chicken tikka while I enjoy the potato bonda, the aloo methi and the pumpkin masala. The breads are always delicious too. I’m not a fan of cardamon or clove so always order the plain rice rather than the saffron rice. We highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. Pretty sure you’ll be well fed and happy!

This restaurant is reliable, food is good. It can get very noisy and crowded, but overall is a good choice for Indian cuisine in the hills.

Enjoyed a dinner with family. Pretty decent size serves at reasonable prices. Service is good although they forgot one of the dishes bit were quick to organise after reminding them. The tables are a bit close to each other but overall we enjoyed the experience. Will definitely go back. Thank you.

Beautiful ambience and wonderful service but it’s the food that really does the trick for me. Perfectly placed near the Dandenong mountains, it’s a wonderful treat after a nice long walk in the mountains on the weekend. A favourite place to visit with my cousin, the kheema naan is delicious, highly recommend the biryanis and curries, can’t no wrong with any of the curries, which can be made mild to hot depending on preference. Gulab Jamun and kulfi at the end were the perfect ending. We normally get one each and share the desserts, as they compliment each other really well. Rogan Josh is must try if you are in the neighbourhood and enjoy Indian food.

I’ve had dine-in food from here many times and it’s always been excellent however I ordered takeaway via Uber Eats 2 days ago and the food was not up to its usual standard. The naan and roti was dry and chewy and the curries weren’t as flavoursome as usual. I don’t know if they just preference dine-in customers, if it was an off day or the food just doesn’t travel well but I’d keep it in mind when ordering take-away. I’ll have to dine-in again soon to see if it was just an anomaly.

I am a regular here and I have only good things to say about this place. Great food, every time. The cheese naan is so good and massive for the price. Because I'm a White-y McWhite-rson I always get butter chicken whenever I get Indian food, and I can confidently say from the 10+ Indian restaurants I've tried around this area, Indian Rogan Josh's is absolutely the best. I've come here with friends and family who do like spicy dishes, and they've told me it was great too :) Great, fast service, even when it's really busy with a million Ubers outside aswell. Great prices for fantastic food! Love you guys, keep up the fantastic work <3

Firstly. we've ordered home delivery from here a few times and the foods been pretty consistently good. Recently we've had two deliveries that have taken over the quoted 40min delivery time given on the order. The first time it took almost 2 hours from the order been put through to get delivery. Each time Ive had to call multiple times to get an ETA, and it seemed like I was annoying the lady on the phone. When you've got kids to feed and put down etc. and you're waiting an hour and a half to 2 hours, compounded with an attitude where they seem to essentially be trying to get you off the phone, it's not good enough. Either fix the ETA on the website, or, when people call up, apologise and or provide a clear ETA and treat paying customers with a little more consideration.
