Good place to get some sun ☀ and walk through the trails. Not much parking available though street parking is just above from the trail head.

I love visiting this Dam. It’s on my bike path I take a couple times per week. Good fishing platform as well. Amazing sunsets are viewable here. 👍🏽👍🏽

For this Labour Day Monday I walked the SC Johnson Trail from Brant Crossing in the downtown core all the way to Wilkes Dam. It's a wonderful spot with lovely nature scenery.  It's a raised walk/cycle pathway surrounded by trees with glimpses of the river now and then. Many other paths intersect along the way to take you back to streets or to other trailways. You can hear the light roar of the water going over the dam as you near it on the path. There is an observation deck area with plenty of seating to rest after trekking all the way here. Currently watching canoeists getting into the water across the ways at a portage spot for a trip down the river. I also discovered a wee Butterflyway Project Garden next to the deck area. Beautiful views of nature all around you at this location. For those who drive to this spot, there is a small parking area available for use and a short stretch of steet parking. There is a #8 bus stop located by Parkside Dr and Lincoln Ave.

Nearby trails offer a view of the river and waterfowl right now as the trees are bare. With temperatures fluctuating the trail can be a little muddy. Regardless all of the trails in the area are in excellent condition for spending time in and around nature.

This Dam is beautiful and serene. The lush green surroundings and fresh air make it perfect for a nature lover like me. It is very well-maintained, and the walking trails are perfect for an early morning run. Highly recommended! You guys gonna love and it's gonna be fun. To be honest, This park is a hidden gem. Not too crowded, but beautiful and peaceful. Perfect for a relaxing day out. The spring sun makes it more and more great and pleasant. I loved it.

I enjoy walking here, especially in the spring. It's fun to see how much the water level changes and the wildlife in the area.

Always a nice place to go for a walk with the kids, lots of little spots to get down by the river to look for Frogs, snakes and cray fish. Lots of fishing along the way too. Always remember what garbage you bring in you take out 😊 🇨🇦

I moved to Brantford three months ago and I thought this is mostly industrial city. But this city has a lot of beautiful places. And Wilkes Dam one of them. Nature here is amazing. Very quiet atmosphere, not crowded. This is the place for relaxation and good thoughts.

Nice spot. Pretty good for fishing with a decent variety of species. The trails seem fairly clean but I tend to walk the water. Sometimes too crowded, from a fishermans perspective at least.

Good place to go fishing and a good place to use as a starting point for floating down the river

Great spot for fishing, biking, walking, roller blading etc. Several different fish species in the Grand River can be caught in the area along shore. We've caught smallmouth bass, pickerel, carp, and catfish too. Trails run the shoreline where a wide variety of wildlife and so many birds can be seen. We even found a male dobsonfly in the final hours of it's short lived life.

Wilkes dam is a historical landmark in Brantford, Ontario. There is a big park near to the dam where kids can play with benches to sit. Parking near to dam is very limited. Fishing may be prohibited from the dam. It is a fresh water supply area with security monitoring.

A great place to relax, centre yourself and listen to the crashing water of the Grand River flowing over the Dam. The Dam and surrounding area allow you to forget that there is a busy city just a few hundred meters away. There are three large benches that provide seating while you enjoy a coffee or a quick meal looking out over the River, just be sure to watch out for the seagulls 😉 When you're done visiting Wilks Dam there is a vast amount of trailways for you to explore and experience the many species of birds and other wildlife that live in this relatively untouched section of Brantford.
