Went to see "Witness for the Prosecution" by Agatha Christie. A classic play for those enjoying a good murder mystery. Avangardia theatre has several plays by the famous writer on their schedule, apparently they have an accordance with Christie's trust to have sole rights for her plays in Romania. The acting was good, I especially enjoyed the actor playing Sir Wilfried. I thought the break came a bit late, after almost 90 mins of a 120 mins play. During the break, you can buy tickets to other plays at discounted prices and drinks. The theatre room itself is not impressive. You can tell it's rented. We sat at the balcony and the seats had little space to extend your legs properly. Lastly, the ticket prices are more expensive than other theatres, but the plays are certainly more renowned and most with big acting names. There were some seats empty.

This review is not about the plays and only about the theatre. So only 2 stars because everything is old. Small chairs and extremely small feet space. I'm 195cm and was horrible. Worth some major investments as the location is central and the plays are super.

Good place

no air conditioning (==> extreme heat in an overcrowded space), no social distancing rules, no place to buy water from, bad acoustics.

The theater gives us wonderful plays!

The rating has nothing to do with the quality of the plays - entertaining topics, good actors, and attention to detail for a pleasant theatrical experience. Unfortunately, the venue is outdated, with no renovations since forever, a bit smelly, uncomfortable seats, small personal space, and room overall. One of the most claustrophobic experiences in my life, I could feel the heavy breathing of the person from the row behind on the back of my neck. I couldn't move a muscle for 2 hours. Not to mention, we were a few hundred people, clearly too many from a safety perspective, stashed in that old room / building. I doubt it was feasible to get out safely in case of emergency. Never felt so trapped and in potential danger. I would highly recommend the theatre to rent some other space. I would pay more money for a ticket, even if it is already quite expensive at the moment, to add comfort and safety to a good play. Hope management will take this feedback into consideration since I wasn't the only person commenting on the above aspects. Until then, I will not return, no matter how tempting the plays are. The plays and actors are amazing! The only issue really is the fact that, being seeted in the place of another establishment that moved the place feels outdated and small. It could use a nicer entrance but overall a wonderful place to see a quality play!

Wide variety of performances with extraordinary actors. Clean and comfortable seats. Good stage visibility from everywhere and very good sound. Also, very important for me: the public is frequently asked not to disrupt the stage performance. They are really insistent with this and it works. You can really enjoyed every show here.

Good modern shows, mostly comedies and detective syley.

The biggest problem in this theater is the comfort of the spectator. More precisely, the seats are crowded and after 0 o'clock, a 40-minute show without a break, you can barely get back up to step towards the exit.
