Myself and my partner are just back from dinner in the Restaurant Tosca. What was supposed to be a nice, pleasant meal, turned into quite an upsetting and disheartening experience. We have never been so shocked by the behaviour of staff, especially as this is meant to be a 4 star hotel... We do not speak Romanian so as expected, the waitress had some trouble understanding us. This was completely fine at the beginning however it quickly turned into a repetition of embarrassment and ridicule. Every time we ordered food, a drink, etc, our waitress among with the rest of her colleagues including the bar man, would huddle together and repeat what we said while pointing and laughing at us. This was absolutely not a coincidence as it undoubtedly occurred every single time we spoke to our waitress. It got to a point where she would be already smirking on the way up to our table and back to her colleagues. At one point the group laughed so loud that the table near us turned around in shock. It was 100% aimed at us as we could clearly hear the bar man repeat what we had said so it was very obvious and was not imagined whatsoever. This made us feel extremely alienated and unsettled. The waitressing staff and bartender were condescending and they mocked us throughout our entire dinner. We complained to the manager and he relayed that he spoke to the staff and they denied all behaviour. This was very interesting as when we initially spoke to the manager, they were starring eagerly at us the whole time. There is one thing that we cannot stand which is disrespect and poor manners. This is really the bare minimum of customer service and shame on the management for not stepping up and preventing the group from huddling at the beginning. It was quiet and perhaps the staff had no other way to keep themselves busy. Safe to say we are both quite shocked and upset from the experience.

Looking for a luxurious spa and hotel? Look no further! This place is fantastic. The staff is incredibly kind and well-behaved, making for a truly pleasant stay. The rooms are super luxurious and comfortable, and the spa is quiet and relaxing - perfect for some much-needed pampering. The only drawback is the limited parking - it can be a bit challenging to find a spot. However, this is a minor issue that doesn't detract from the overall experience. Highly recommended!

A little bit old, the doors are to much used. Needs renovation! The bed was not so confortable. Cleaning service require improvements. Facilities are ok. Big swimming pool. Kids swimming pools needs improvements. VIP Jacuzzi Lounge was really nice with nice view. Restaurant is good. Food at breakfast was decent!

An overrated hotel. In fact, just some of the rooms are renovated, the spa area is 5 stars, the small outdoor pool with a few sunbeds. Diversified, fresh and good breakfast, expensive restaurant area and few offers on the menu. There is still work to be done to deserve the 4 stars...

No idea how this hotel can have such a good rating. The room was way too warm. Loud people stayed until late talking right in front of the room (where the elevators are located). Breakfast was horrible, same awful looking cheese and eggs everyday, not varied at all. There was a pile of plastic cups on a table at the rear entrance. No one in the 5 days we spent there bothered to pick it up from there, was just becoming bigger and bigger. Housekeeping didn't even replace the toilet paper, we had to go buy some one from the local shop because they didn't even answer the phone. The bathroom looked and smelled pretty bad. For dinner, the service is slow. Ordered mashed potatoes and was brought polenta without being asked because "there were no mashed potatoes left". Wifi was also incredibly slow. We ended up leaving 1 night earlier since it was a nightmare to stay there.

Not a 4* Hotel The room was very poorly cleaned, the carpet was very damaged and stained, there was a lot of dust on the furniture, one chair was broken, and the table at breakfest fell into my lap. We could not control the temperature from the room (only reception can do it). They say they are renovating, but the renovated apartment had a very strong chemical smell and the design isn’t better and the execution has poor quality. There is a total lack of attention to detail, which you can also see in the common areas. It is not worth the price.

This is probably the best hotel in the Transylvanian Alps. The views are just breathtaking and rooms with balconies provide a panoramic view. The front desk staff were very warm and welcoming and willing to help make our stay perfect. Thank you to Mirabella, Andrea, and Paula especially. And the restaurant makes top quality foods with wonderful service. Thank you to Marius as well.

Excellent resort with nice amenities and friendly staff. Renovated rooms with comfortable beds and good sized bathrooms. Breakfast buffet is very good, rich and tasty. Totally enjoyed our stay. Will definitely come back.

I stayed at the hotel one night, in a teambuilding organized by our company. The hotel is huge, with a strange floor setup. The overall feeling is that you're in a labyrinth (there are many guidance signs though). We had a 2-room apartment (4 people). The apartment is very spacious. The rooms are big, and the living room even bigger, with extremely cozy armchairs. There is also a big balcony, with an amazing view. Only one problem: there are no locks on the bathroom :/ The food was very good (breakfast, dinner etc). However, anything outside of what the company covered, was expensive (e.g. 15 lei a coffee). For the overnight party (which included open bar until 4am), the food from the open buffet was cleaned/removed by the staff very early (at 22:00 the leftover buffet food was cleaned), which is a pity.

My friends and I spent the weekend at Alpin Hotel and it was a disappointing experience. 1. The hotel is old and in serious need of refurbishment. The room photos posted online are not real. Or at least our rooms looked nothing like that! 2. The bathrooms look straight out of a 80’s movie, with an old bathtub, broken tiles and very high temperature. 3. The heating is faulty; it was impossible to turn off, so we were recommended to open the balcony door during the night (in the middle of winter). 4. The reception staff were kind, except for the front office manager (namely Mr. Remus Apostolescu), who was very rude. He was rather arrogant during check-in, but I chose not to be bother by his attitude, as we all have bad days and I thought that might be the case with him. However, he was plain rude during check-out. He belittled us for a billing complication that not only was I not interested in hearing about, but it was also his fault, as he chose not to pay attention to me during check in. 5. The morning staff, in charge of breakfast, was helpful and very responsive, but the food was mediocre. Location is good, close to the slopes, and the view was nice, but…that’s about it. Alpin Hotel is a 2 star-hotel and I, for one, will never go back.

Mediocre hotel, with pricey rooms - there are far better ones in Poiana which are much more worthy. The rooms are very outdated, with old furniture which have a specific scent, an old scent. We have stayed in an apartment, with 2 rooms, a living room, a wannabe kitchenette and a big terrace. The rooms were somewhat clean and ok, except for the smell and the pillows which were really bad quality. There was no remote control in one of the rooms, the living room had one but was not working, so there was only one remote control for 3 TVs. The living room had a really uncomfortable sofa, which was broken and it was horrible to sit on. The wannabe kitchenette, had only glasses and plates… no forks or knives… what are we suppose to do with those without forks or knives? Lol The terrace was really dirty, we had to clean it before relaxing there… There are many places around the same price, which are really more worthy than this hotel. Horrible…. It was such a disappointment that we left without having the breakfast as well, we really did not want to spend more time there.

Very professional staff, very clean and nice room (the new ones - renovated). Good breakfast + nice pool and sauna. The bad/strange thing is the transparent glass from the bathroom wall... for this reason there is no privacy... when you need privacy!

A fine four-star hotel. A bit outdated. But it has decent leisure facilities as an half Olympic sized swimming pool, sauna, and spa. The breakfast is off-standard though.

Cosy, very child friendly everywhere, anything you need. Pool, gym, good coffee, many kids areas, I totally recommend.

My room had two problems: - bad smell in the bathroom during my two day of staying - the door from the balcony was not sealed. No feedback asked by the host.

Our favorite place to stay in Poina Brasov. Services are above and beyond. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Restaurants serve great food. The massages at the Spa are second to none. Two pools, hot tubs, cigar lounge (with sheesha), Escape rooms, and an Enchanted forest. Rooms from basic to 2 bedroom luxurious apartments, most with wonderful views. The place to stay in Poina Brasov.

One of the hotel that justify their prices by their location only. The hotel overall is a little bit wored down, with out dated furniture, old elevators that are usually blocked and with rooms at level that you can reach only with 1 elevator. Special attention if you ask a triple room. Not all rooms have actually the 3rd bed. I was unlucky to receive a disgracefull couch, with an improvized mattress, totaly impractical. Anyhow, the price for hosting 3 persons was accordanly, even if the 3rd one slept on a 2 seats sofa. Also be aware on the parking lot. Very crowded and expesive due to limited spaces where you can actually park. Just say you didnt cane with a car and nobody will check that. They dont care anyhow. So, in my opinion, if you really have to stay to this hotel, i wish you goodluck, but if you can choose, you have alternative options instead.

Plecase do not waist your money by coming to stay into one of their apartments. I knew this was a 4*... well... from the way the 3 apartments we have seen they would not deserve not even 2*. Old furniture , dirty carpets and smelly rooms. Unfortunately we got here too late with our children who were already tired and did not have another choice but to stay here for the night. The pics I ve posted are from "the best" room they gave us... the premium one... paid 1800 lei for 2 night with breakfast included

Very nice location with a real beutiful view. A little bit old and rusty, very pricy, with a strange mix of customers. But, when u draw the line, still a reference in romanian tourism.

Stayed here with my wife and 4 y old daughter for 4 nights. We were reluctant to book it at first because we’re usually staying at Teleferic. Foolish of us to expect same services. We booked an apartment which was quite spacious, however it had a funny smell in the hallway though out the kitchen. First impression when we arrived was the chaotic parking space. We have an EV hence we were expecting some EV parking spots. Obviously they were blocked by petrol cars. The available parking spots were blocked by the “valet” which was basically forcing yo uti tip him in order to park your car close to the hotel. The 2nd bad experience was at the Gourmet restaurant, dont remember its name unfortunately. The restaurant is made 100% for foreign tourists. It didnt have a kids menu, i guess kids dont eat at gourmet restaurants. Secondly i assume the management considers that if you add truffles on all dishes that means the dish is special. Trust me, it s not. I dont mind paying 200 eur for a dinner, but that restaurant is not worth it what you pay vs what you get is insane. Wifi: coverage across the resort sucks. I m not lying when i say that internet in maldives was better. Lastly, last day, breakfast, wanted to get myself some ham and i notices the hole ham platter had also the plastic wrap in it. I politely asked one server if we’re allowed to eat that and she politely apologized and removed it. Breakfast such as dinner is a challenge here. I suggest you try other hotels or restaurants in the area. Positives: cheaper than Teleferic and frankly i can’t find anything else.

The room was beautiful with a gorgeous view of the mountains. The spa was somewhat underwhelming, but still clean and enjoyable. The staff was very nice and professional. However, the room that we were staying in was very hot. It was 4-6 degrees outside, but inside the room was still 23-24 degrees even with the door open or the HVAC started. It's probably not a problem for most people, but we personally had a hard time sleeping in a room hot like that. Sleeping with the balcony door open can also be challenging as the balconies were connected to each other with very little to divide them. Someone can easily move from one balcony to the other or hear the noise coming from other balconies.

What a great place. The room was very nice. The bathtub was HUGE! The bed was also massive, I sent a text across the bed as a joke. Most of our time was spent on the balcony with a fantastic view of the mountains. It was worth the high price.

The hotel is at a great location, the lobby is beautiful but unfortunately I could hear the rooms next to ours, dinner at the hotel was good too

I first stayed at Alpin somewhere around 2015. I went back seven years and was glad to see that all the rooms had been renovated. The atmosphere is very pleasant in the room, and the fireplace made all the money. Prices are ok for what the hotel offers, massage services are at higher level, slightly higher prices for a massage, but I can say that I felt very good. All the staff spoke and it was very nice, I will definitely return to Alpin

The hotel is ok but not for children. there are dangers at all playgrounds: the wall of the children's pool has mold, and at the outdoor playground, people park among the toys and there are all kinds of planks and nails left to chance. the rooms have a specific smell - not in a good way. the breakfast leaves much to be desired.

I had the chance to stay at Hotel Alpin Poiana Brasov in September. We had a Teambuilding for a weekend there and our experience was not that good, especially for this kind of accommodation. 1. The management was awful….there were some other companies there and the staff did not know where we would eat, they gave us wrong info regarding the dinner time and place. 2. They promised us lots of activities and non of them was ‘available’ from stupid reasons like ‘the guy with the key was not there’. The exterior pool was, suddenly, not working in that day. For this rating I was expecting more. 2 starts is me being nice.

Good hotel, some of the largest in the area so it's full with people and have a crowded felling. The food is nice, but not exceeding expectations. Rooms are fine, not to large. The hotel was built in different periods so the reception is at 7th floor and a labirint for few days until you'll get around.

Some rooms are renovated but some have just superficial repairs. I had the misfortune to receive one of the latest, smelly bathroom, walls repaired but not painted back. The same for the surroundings and common areas: some at 4 stars standards, some only with patches. A plus: most of the food was delicious.

I’ve been going here for years at this hotel and I’ve had a great experience their food is great and they have great facilities and professional staff. Personally I would recommend this hotel during the winter since they serve the storage of skis and snowboards and an excellent staff for ski training. The only downside that I would find is the different experience people get depending on what room they booked.

I had a very good experience, there was only one issue i had, i chose this place for the free wifi, after one day of staying, the wifi stoped working... I did not work for 4 days straight. Overall the experience was really nice.

As far as big venues oriented towards bigger events the Alpine complex was a pleasent surprise. The apartments are incredibly spacious, indicative of a hotel built back when profit per square meter was not an established metric. The pool is also quite large although not having a lifeguard when the depth clearly demands it is just a tad sketchy.

  • 3/5 Radu V. 1 year ago on Google
Room service closed 11 p.m. No food available after 11 p.m. until after 1:30 a.m. - not even peanuts or snacks or a vending machine. Hot water was only lukewarm more than 50% of the time. The bathtub was flooding the entire bathroom when being emptied. More than half of the services advertised by the hotel SPA were unavailable and the SPA/pool schedule was shorter than advertised. All the Couple Rituals were unavailable, due to the entire room being closed indefinitely. Otherwise, ok - decent. But would you pay that amount of money for that level of service?
