Very friendly atmosphere and delicious steak. Truffle croutons were an incredible starter, and having 4 different butters to cook the steak on the stone is a must-try experience. The sauces were also very high quality, which made this experience top-level. Slightly expensive, but definitely worth it as a celebration meal.

A unique place with an entertainment in the form of cooking your own meat on hot stones at the table. This can get smoky, so be ready, but it's also fun. Friendly service, fun interior including a place to take a mugshot photo of yourself. High quality meat. Nice to enjoy as a group!

Came here for food before going to Bristol Hippodrome for a show. The decor in the reatuarant is lovely. It felt very warm and inviting. The staff there were brilliant and very friendly. The best part about it though is the amazing quality of the food. We had a sharing porterhouse (T-bone) and it was delicious. Unfortunately I only have a picture of it half eaten as we could not wait to get stuck in. The steak was so tender and the flavours from the butters just made it even better. The chips were also very delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will definitely be returning again.

Amazing steak experience at Mugshot! We had the Chateaubriand sharing platter and loved the hot stone feature to cook as you go along to your personal liking. Lots of choices with sauces, butters etc too. Thanks to Elliot for a good personal touch. Will be back when we're in Bristol again!

What a fantastic meal! This is something as far as I know pretty unique within Bristol and it delivers 100%. Can’t give much a review of how well the steaks were cooked as that was all down to me, but the meat is excellent quality and once I nailed the hot stone timings it was like butter! Really nice and creative cocktails too, came here for my birthday and I’ll definitely be here again.

Absolutely fantastic! Any meat lovers have to try! Although it might seem expensive it is like no other steak house! Staff were very helpful and knew about all the dietary restrictions (gluten free). Can't wait for the next visit! Also, have the olives, they're delicious!

Wow!! What an amazing place. I loved the food and the concept. Never again can you complain how somebody cooks your steak, because you physically cook it yourself!! To service was outstanding. They were a lovely bunch of guys. The cocktails were great, the service was exceptional and the food was out of this world. I loved the butters you can pick yourself from a list of about 7, and the sauces were great too.I had the smoked cheese and the honey butters with a wild mushroom sauce. I will be having this again. Quite pricey but who doesn’t complain that things could be cheaper these days ‘eh? Such a lovely place all round and will be coming here again.

Whenever we are in Bristol we always make sure we come here. Been here 4-5 times and it’s always great! Love the Camembert & pork belly starter. The steak is always lovely. Love the butters and sauce it comes with!!

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The place looks brilliant and the food is even better. My wife had the ribeye and said it was the best steak she has ever had. I had one of the pizzas and it was outstanding. Staff were friendly, cocktails were good and the homemade butters were a highlight (especially the honey butter!) I wish I could give this more than 5 stars!

Food was good quality, just not what I class as a nice, relaxed restaurant experience. Would have been nice to have the option not to have to cook your own food on a hot stone. The service was also very Americanized; responsive and efficient but we were repeatedly reminded of the time pressure to give up our table by the predefined time. Not what you expect in the UK. We had plently of time, but it was just slightly stressful having to rush our dessert and be given the bill early. Overall good, but there are better steak options literally a stones throw away.

Excellent! Would highly recommend if you love steak! The steak was some of the best we've had and the service was faultless! (I'm from America so my standards of service are very high.) We also had cocktails when we were there and they were the best we had this entire weekend! A must visit in Bristol! Thank you! 😊

Lovely experience. We really enjoyed the hot stone experience with our steaks something different. Nice ambience a sort of 1920’s theme, staff are lovely. It’s reasonably priced as well. We loved it.

Nice steak and friendly staff. Beef dripping was the best sauce and lovely to have different butter. I liked the garlic and honey better most

I loved how you got to do your own steak. It was really good. Sides with it were excellent, too. The deserts were delish. The cheese cake, I think, is a bit big. Maybe slightly smaller would be lovely, but everyone is different. I requested something for a birthday through email and was never done. Happens. The service on the day was good. The girl serving us was really sweet. I would 100% recommend it here. It was lovely dine.

The environment is really nice, good for family party and dating. The music is very chill and joyful! The steak is really delicious especially on the stone and the special sauce. I ordered the fillet with garlic and chive butter, they are all homemade and taste very fresh and creamy. The beef dripping sauce is very special and unique. Also, the steak served with chips which are very yummy! I’m so full at the end of the meal and the price is so reasonable!! Staffs are very friendly and helpful! They always tell you how to cook the steak on the stone and introduce signature dishes!

An incredible lunch! The menu offering is incredible & only the top choice of meats! We opted for a mix of lamb & chateaubriand which was mouth watering. The drinks were fantastic, wine parings delicious & even better was their service of not just looking after us but also being so patient with & understanding of us having our baby with us for lunch. A huge thank you to the team

Fantastic experience! The food was incredible and service that was perfect. Staff were kind, respectful, helpful and all round lovely. The food was exactly as i hoped and there was a wide range of options for people. The environment was joyful, sophisticated and comforting without being forced and it had a fantastic charm to it. All together it was one of my finest experiences dining and was worth every penny and moment.

Food was amazing! Best steak I had so far and the service was great 👍 service charge is a bit pricey though and I wish they can accommodate bigger groups. We tried booking a group of 10 people, unfortunately they can only accommodate max of 6.

More than just a great meal, it's an experience! The atmosphere and setting is brilliant, the food amazing. The steak was superb, and the fact you get to finish off cooking it to your taste, is fun. Defo recommend going here. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed...

We've always considered visiting Mugshot after the many good reviews and recommendations, but were put off slightly by the hot stones, something that we've previously experienced in the past. Also after visiting Pasture, we had no reason to go anywhere else for steak. When Mugshots opened up the Library, we we're persuaded to give both a go (steak and cocktails afterwards... why not!) It was nice to hear Mugshots complement Pasture for their steaks, and they were able to explain the differences. Whilst unsure about the hot stones, my wife went for the steak to be served cooked and I went for the hot stone. Got to say, I was surprised how much I enjoyed the hot stone, I went for Rib Eye and Chips, and the wife choose Fillet and cheesy mash, the cheesy mash was much better than the aligot that we had in Little French. Overall, we are 50/50 on whether Mugshot or Pasture, so I would say give both a go, they are both different, but I would be happy to return to Mugshot and recommend this restaurant to friends, overall it was a great evening. We finished the evening in the new Library and got to say, we loved this place and would highly recommend people to try both, absolutely no complaints at all. Would be good to see more varied cocktails on the list, but they have a full bar and the Old Fashioned's were top notch.... Also, shout out to all the staff, fantastic service.

Wow, wow, wow, so good I had to say it three times! The evening started with a lovely, friendly greeting from Gabriela, who showed us to the table, introduced our waiters and made us feel soo welcome. We ordered drinks and my Mum said the Australian Shiraz was one of the best she's ever tasted. I had a French 75, which was perfectly made and very tasty. Our fantastic waiter Lucas then explained the menu and how the hot stone works. We were both going to get a ribeye so he suggested the Caveman, which was a sharing option. We went with it and were soo glad we did. He also explained where the meat is sourced, all local and how long its aged etc. Another extra touch that made the evening special. The food came out quite quickly considering it was a large cut. The waiter who brought the steak showed us how best to cut and cook it on the stone and gave advice on how long to cook it each side depending on how you like it cooked. The steak itself was delicious, melt in the mouth good. Definitely up there with the best steaks I've had. All in all the exceptional service and food made the evening a outstanding experience, one I'd recommend to any meat lover. Special mention to Lucas and Gabriela but all the staff that served us where amazing.

This place is absolutely amazing. We got a great/warm welcome from Jen as soon as we arrived, not like any typical server introduction we have ever had before. The food was exquisite, we had the chateaubriand, 4 butters, 2 sauces, and honestly it was the best steak we have had compared to anywhere else.

Me and my partners first time here last night and it was impeccable. From the outstanding service and the scotch to the Chateaubriand. I had high hopes and it well and truly lived up to them. We will be returning very soon.

Just got back from a meal there for my wife's birthday. Had a wonderful experience. The ambiance and music was lovely. The staff very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, yet not overbearing nor intrusive. Let alone the food we're all still dreaming of the porterhouse and chateaubriand we had to share. Thank you very much

I am so so surprised by how tasty the food is. The serving is absolutely brilliant. We had Tom as the main waiter which is just a lovely gentleman, but all the other waiters have paid attention to us and took care to make us have a great experience, which we had indeed! I am definitely recommending this place to anyone visiting Bristol or if you just want to have a special date night. There is a great value for money.

WOW, AMAZING, EXCELLENT and so on...... We visited The Library on Tuesday night pre-cocktail drinks before going to the Mugshot Steak restaurant. I don't know where to start. We were greeted after a bookcase opened. The interior decor is out of this world. It is exactly as described by some local reports. All staff are amazing. ADAM AND ZOWIE are fantastic hosts and owners of this amazing place. They worked so hard during lock down last year and opened approximately 5 weeks ago. If you book a table at their equally amazing Mugshot restaurant you will be invited to this mystery location a few doors down. Please visit. You won't be disappointed. ZOWIE and ADAM take the time to chat. I had a little heart to heart with ZOWIE. The cocktails are amazing and are very reasonably priced. They have a Gin distillery downstairs. You are welcome to look around and take photos. Thank you all. We had a lovely time. We will be back. STAY SAFE everyone. Love Cliff and Kerry

I only went to the restaurant once back when this was doable but I loved it. Tried the delivery option on the weekend and thought it was great. It came on time, had eco friendly packaging, funny quarantine tape on it too. The chips I'm still thinking about, best takeaway chips I've had. Also the beef dripping sauce I would honestly drink if it was socially acceptable.

What an amazing place! To start we were greeted by the owner himself and got a comprehensive explanation of what the house is about and what are the main features. Short after we were served by a very friendly waiter who explained us the menu and the best way to eat the main dish (the steaks). We then ordered a couple of steaks and a couple of cocktails that were beautifully crafted! The steaks were gorgeous and the butter/sauce that came with them added the perfect extra layer of flavour! To finish we had the nice "Dolores" dessert and an extra cocktail that uses their collaboration gin with Bristol Dry gin that wasn't available in the menu anymore but they were happy to make it for me! In short: cosy atmosphere, excellent service and gorgeous food make this my new favourite place in Bristol!

The chips were a bit on the big side, and the rocket/parmesan wasn’t really necessary. We ordered creamed spinach as well which was wonderful. For dessert we wanted the gin/tonic sorbet but they didn’t have any left. A shame. The ambience is very nice, and I liked the decor. My only real complaint was that the food arrived too fast.

Unreal as always! The hot stone is a quality concept without being a gimmick. Meat quality is exceptional, communication was flawless. My only wish is that there was a béarnaise option as that’s my personal favourite. Thank you so much

This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to (Feb 2020), the service is great, the food is fresh and tasty, and the way they serve it is both original and very fitting. The ideal place for a friendly/family meeting, or a date.

Amazing Steaks, great service, lovely vibe. Really, really good quality steaks. They recommend the option of your steak coming out blue on a hot stone so you can finish it yourself with some homemade butters. It was fun, but work - sort of takes away from the dining experience and having conversation with friends. Ill definitely be going back, but I think I'd just have my steak come out ready to eat.

1st time here and what amazing staff and atmosphere. Your cut of meat is served on a hot stone and you cut slices off and mix your choice of butter on the stone with the meat. Try the cracking from the pork with garlic butter ?. If your in Bristol go and have the best meal ever. In the words of Arnie Schwarzenegger " I'll be back"

  • 3/5 Scott K. 3 years ago on Google
The staff were great , the food reasonably priced. Only downside was how hot it was in the place and the very limited choice on the food menu . Was excited to go there but left feeling disappointed

The best steak I have ever eaten. Not only that but also a lovely customer experience with lots of detail into the history of the restaurant and the concept behind it. We had an absolutely amazing meal here. The people waiting on our table were so attentive and patient, the explained everything to us and we're really fun, it added so much to the evening. Attended Mugshot with my partner last night and we both shared a cheateubriand steak, absolutely beautiful meat, although we found the stones lose their heat a little bit towards the end and it was difficult to get the pieces to the desired medium cook. The service was spot on, although a small miscommunication meant our main course arrived before we finished our appetisers and first glasses of champagne. Recommend

One of the greatest steak meals I've ever had! The serving staff were knowledgeable and attentive and really put in the extra effort to make you feel special. The real star of the show, however, was the steak. Not sure if it was the beef dripping sauce I had as a complimentary extra but the flavour was outstanding. I was genuinely in steak heaven and can confidentally say it ranked amongst the best steaks Ive ever had... ever! The fries were perfect and with a side order of sauteed mushrooms as well the sides were a perfect accompaniment. The creme brullee desert was great although my one small criticism is that creme brullee should be just that and not have any fruit added to it. By all means have an optional compote as a side but I much prefer a creme brullee unadulterated. Overall a wonderful dining experience and I expect I'll be back very soon.

I ordered a delivery from Mugshot through Uber eats and I'm glad I caught them before they take it into their own hands! I ordered the chicken Caesar which had juicy, well seasoned chicken and a great brioche bun that had been lightly grilled. For my sides - enough homemade bread and butter arrived to last me a couple of days, which is great because they're both amazing! Although 'both' is a bit of an oversimplification as I had a range of breads and chose an assortment of butters. The olives arrived in a generous mix including some kalamatas and hefty chunks of garlic & bay leaves for the marinade. Amazing flavours and attention to detail. I look forward to trying them again!

I visited their library down the road, they had an exquisite selection of books and unlike most establishments of this type - were warm and not critical of conversation, in fact not a “keep quiet” sign in sight. I particularly enjoyed the London Stock Exchange Official Intelligence- they will certainly be able influencing my investing decisions over the coming quarter. You must check out the basement, and unlike most libraries they have a bar, rather than a vending machine - which I think local authorities across the country should consider adopting.
