Le Comptoir Saint Sernin

Restaurant Brunch restaurant French restaurant

🫤 We had a 'brunch' on a Sunday morning. Unless you've got all morning to spend at the buffet breakfast, 27€ each is extortionately expensive. We were offered an apple juice or orange juice which never appeared.

Le Comptoir Sai t Sernin was one of my best finds this week. Here i found that perfect place where i can go with friends, by myself or with my son for a meal, or simply a drink with tapas. I think i am going to be a regular here. Yes i am. Now i have my to go to place in Brive. Superb decor, warm surroundings, great humour on the walls. If ypu feeling that are being taken places and being recounted stories by a place's decor, this is the place ro be. Its furniture has been placea and has been through the years. The feeling of perfect recycling is amazing. The wine cellar, fabulous and with an amazingly great choice. The food was right on as was the service. If yu are in Brive, do go. You will not regret it.

Very good restaurant, with various options to choose from. OK location, with a terrace on the street where people are passing by - but it didn't make is feel unsafe (in the Covid context). However, we are presented with a hand written menu upon arrival, which is not clear. We wanted to share a starters, marked "terrine de campagne maison, foie gras, abricot". Reading this, it was clear that we were about to have a terrine de campagne, foie gras ans abricots. It was actually a "terrine de campagne *au* foie gras", which was not possible to split, as I don't like foie gras myself. Not a huge problem nevertheless. The big issue was actually the young waitress' attitude of superiority, making inappropriate and depreciative jokes when asking questions about the seating and the menu. An extremely unsuitable behaviour, especially for someone who's not French and who might feel humiliated, when all he wants to do is have a nice meal.

The place is casual+ A/C was not super effective. Owner was friendly. The meat for the burger and the tartare was not tiers 1 quality. The charcuterie is above par. Overall, a disappointment. Recommendation: refocus on the ingredients quality and remove all the distraction/the bells and whistles. The fries are good.

In an old hardware store, this restaurant is an interesting place to eat. Excellent food, try the "œuf parfait" an egg cooked at low temperature (65 C) which makes the white and the yolk incredibly smooth. Can be a little noisy though. Try it!
