Edit: So, the owner responses like a petulant child? What does that tell you? Doesn't address or refute any of the honest issues in my review. Way to keep it professional. Guess all the talent IS at The Abbey now. A mere shadow of its former self. Since when has ordering a $33 duck entree meant receiving 1/2 of a 1/2 of a breast and a random portion/bite of drumstick (no thigh whatsoever). I don't know how many years ago it was that I had to last salt a dish, but it was necessary here - as it was my wife's bolognese simply because it lacked cheese and none was ever offered. And we both had to flag someone down to ask for everything. Our companion's $47 steak was a ridiculously cheap cut that lacked any flavor - much like something that would cost $8 in a bad supermarket . Service was spotty at best. Waitress had tables outside and never looked away from the computer while inside. Sat with empty drinks for more than 10 minutes before we flagged someone else down. Definitely not worth the trip any more. It's like original dishes have been cheapened by lower quality ingredients or valued chefs have been replaced by replaceable cooks that don't have access to the original recipes. Sad. RIP old friend.

Always a good experience here, a very cosy pub atmosphere with a great beer selection. Their food is awesome and is definitely not pub grub! They usually have specials as well, the tuna was fantastic. They have heated outdoor seating as well through the winter with plenty of heaters, we will be back to sit outside!

Pretty good fish and chips. Tiramisu for dessert was nice.

Small place. Nice bar. Tons of liquors. Food Prices very high. Portions small. Friendly bartenders. Clean bathrooms. Street Parking very hard to find.

I have to tell you, my family has been going to the Tavern since it opened, we have always enjoyed ourselves. A restaurant experience done consistently over the years I find exceptional. I write this review because of a dinner Friday evening with my colleagues. I wanted them to experience the warm, welcoming personal atmosphere. Well Gerry, Alma, Sam, Chefs really out did themselves. I got calls from all in attendance stating that it was one of the best meals and dining experiences ever. Thank you JB

The best outdoor dining set up I’ve seen in the Boston area! The food was delicious and the portions were great. The duck breast and octopus were particularly tender and scrumptious. Each table is provided with three heaters, so both my girlfriend and I were warm and comfortable (despite it being 15 degrees out). All Covid precautions were taken seriously and we will be back!

A 5 star would be a low end rating…this restaurant deserves nothing but a 10 star! Our first stop once we arrive in Boston! The food, the ambience, the staff, the knowledge of wines from all over the world and the selections are second to none! The food is consistently spectacular; from simplicity to exquisite, top chef, Luis is phenomenal creating daily dish specials that keeps you coming back! Thank you Jerry and Alma for a wonderful inviting neighborhood restaurant, that welcomes those near and far! 💕

The best food I have eaten in Boston in the last 20 years. The steak frite was amazing. Their wine list is the best. Will definitely be back soon.

Located centrally in Washington Square. Excellent well hearted patio. We ordered Burrata, octopus, and gnocchi dishes and hot Toddy cocktails. Perfect for the weather. The stuff is supper helpful and attentive.

Finally dined @ Washington St Tavern after a few years of following and it didn’t disappoint. Atmosphere just what I expected - low light, warm/comfortable and tavern feel. House Rye Old Fashioned made perfectly, burger 10/10 - crisp exterior, meat perfectly seasoned, cooked just right and some of the best bleu cheese we’ve had (can’t forget to mention the French fries), Scallops served with butternut squash purée and shaved Brussel sprouts were delicious and beautifully presented. I don’t get out to Brookline often, so glad I finally made it. Will be back soon.
