Highly recommended 🔝 a must see while visiting Bucharest. Visit should be booked online, in advance with minimum 2 days, there is no fee for entrance. Staff is highly knowledgeable and all items exposed are part of rich history of Romania. Building was renovated completely following original plans. Delightful experience

One of the best experiences with a museum in Romania. No queue, the guide is very well prepared, quality of the items is very good. I was very suprised to see they have a gold bar (13kg), behind a window, that you can touch and try to lift. *you need an online reservation to visit. Tickets are free

The visit consists in a guided free tour of about 1.5hours through a small part of The Central Bank of Romania. There's an impressive collection of coins that were at some point in circulation throughout this geographic area since before the Roman empire to the numismatic gold coins emitted in the present day by the Bank. Most of the coins are Gold and silver. There is also a vault with a few Gold bars. The tour then continues with National Bank history

The building itself is very very glamorous. Looking around I just kept admiring the details that the French architects chose for the building, it’s very elegant, but not too much! Charming! The museum itself seemed a bit boring to me, almost could say too formal, if that makes sense. Of course, that’s a question of taste, but for kids, nothing to see. The guide lady was very professional though, didn’t stutter once! If you’re a history lover, you’ll like it. I liked going trough the security, It felt diplomatic. Thanks for having me!

We've booked a visit to the museum and received an imediat feedback. The guide was very helpful and knowledgeable of the history of the bank and Romania. He introduced us in the old and new Palace of the Romanian bank. They have there a beautiful collection of coins from different periods of time, dating back to the 3rd century. It's a really good initiative of the National Bank of Romania to have free guided tours in order to financial educate the people.

(Translated by Google) Impressive structure located in the center of Bucharest. It is possible to visit it only by reservation. The museum is not very large and the visit lasts about 45 minutes. You can admire ancient coins of inestimable value and lots of gold. Admission is free and the tour includes the guide (in English). Overall interesting. (Translated by Google) The Museum of the National Bank of Romania is a museum subordinated to the National Bank of Bucharest, located in Str. Lipscani nr. 25, sector 3. Historical monument, the Palace of the National Bank of Romania was built between 1884 and 1890, following the design of the architects Cassien Bernard and Albert Galeron, the works being supervised by the architects Grigore Cerchez and E. Băicoianu. The last restoration dates from 1992 to 1994. By a decision of the General Council of B.N.R. in 1914 the museum was set up. The museum has been organized since 1933, the first exhibition being varnished in July 1943. The collection is then moved and reopened in 1949 in the Rosenthal building on Calea Victoriei. In the autumn of 1952 the space on the ground floor of the building was arranged to house the entire collection, but the occupation of space by the Ministry of Finance forced the organizers to give up the pieces of the Romanian Academy, where they remained until the inauguration of the museum on 3 May 1997. They are exposed the numismatic series issued by the National Bank of Romania, other major pieces, banknotes, and a portrait gallery of the bank's governors. [1] Historic Monument - Palace of the National Bank of Romania - was built between July 12, 1884 and June 1890. The authors of the project: Archbishop Cassien Bernard and Archbishop Albert Galeron; builders: arch. N. Cerchez and arch. Albert Galeron; constructori: arh. N. Cerchez și arh. E. Băicoianu.

Highly recommend the visit to anyone. It is free to visit, however you will need to book a reservation in advance (easy online). The building is impressive and the collection is great at showcasing the history of coinage in the Romanian area since antiquity through roman times and onto modern Romania. The guide alone deserves 5 stars, she was very professional, possessed a great deal of knowledge and made the experience extremely enjoyable.

The National Bank of Romania preserves an important architectural heritage, comprising two palaces included on the list of Romanian historical monuments, where the bank carries out its central activity. The museum's numismatic exhibition, opened into these buildings, is divided into two ample themes: The History of Currency Circulation in Romania and The History of the Romania Leu.

It was a delight to my knowledge and to my thought process. The entrance to the museum is free, the booking was made online with a week in advance, by a friend. They need your full name and your personal identification number for registration. We went in a group, having a guide. The guide presented us some particular moments from history which stuck to my mind, mostly because they were funny or just rang like a new idea: - the building was projected by two French architects, in such a way that the employee from the counter could hear you when you talked to him/her when depositing/withdrawing some money, but the others staying in line after you couldn't hear anything that you're saying. - Alexandru Ioan Cuza, to celebrate the union of the Romanian Principalities (Moldavia and Wallachia), wanted to issue the first Romanian coin, called "român" ("Romanian"). It was a bad idea. One of the Romanian Academy founders told that: how can I go to the market and pay 100 "Romanians" for an ox? - there I saw the first hologram. It was showing Queen Mary's crown. - they have coins which are from the IV-III centuries before Christ. - you can lift a 13 kilos gold bar with one hand. I mean you can try. I failed. But just to feel the weight of gold.

We went to visit the museum last Friday (booked beforehand) and met Anda who gave us a guided tour. It was very informative and we learnt a lot from Anda. Like the museum in Bank of England (we visited a few years ago), it was nice to see some national banks reach out to the public . If you are in Bucharest, this museum is highly recommended.
