Café Gian Mario was fantastic. Located downtown close to St Stephen's basilica and the parliament it is perfect for genuine Italian pizza. The location, staff and service was excellent. Everybody was friendly and helpful, the pizza was great, made fresh in their ovens and worth the wait. The prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant.

Great customer experience. Warmer than most places for drinks and food. Never leave Budapest without trying this place. It’s a place where every staff makes you feel at home. There’s always room for emotional support at Caffé Gian Mario. Everyday also has a special menu list created to add to the existing list. That give variety comfort and convenience as well as options to choose if you’re a new Budapest.

Went there on a Friday evening, had some risotto, aperitivo and cannolo as dessert. Nice dishes and vibes. They have Italian music and feels likey you’re in a truly Italian restaurant. Will come back! Pizzas are highly recommended there.

Really friendly staff and delicious food.

Absolutely some of the best (and GENUINE) Italian food in Budapest! The owners are Italian and take great care and pride in the dishes they offer. We tried salad, pasta, pizza, and gelato, and all of it was excellent. The atmosphere is very casual and fun with pop and rock music in the background.

In general the food is good, reasonable price and service friendly BUT check your invoice when leaving. I had a double (200 cl) of wine by the card which should be 1990 HUF. The owner then charged me 2 x 1990 HUF. Even when I said I only had ONE glass, according to him it was a double, so I was charged "double a double" which makes nearly 10 Euro for a small glass of wine which was nearly the price of a whole bottle. I also was not given the original invoice but just the credit card payment receipt. So no chance to complain. Again in general the restaurant was good but I don't like these tricky games and therefore might not come again...

The meal started off promising with bruschetta, which was delicious. The tomatoes tasted very fresh and had just the right amount of herbs and oil, and I was expecting the same quality of the lasagne that I ordered, but I was very very disappointed. It had the tell-tale signs of a dish that was preprepared Many hours previously, and then microwaved sizzling hot on the outside ice cold in the centre. The mixture of the old microwaved cheese and meat gave the consistency of wet paper in my mouth. I did not finish my main dish.

Absolutely amazing. Handwritten daily menu, always a good sign in a restaurant! I had the gorgonzola and pumpkin ravioli, and chocolate soufflé with ice cream for dessert. Both amazing, the ice cream was probably the best I've ever had.

The menu was not explained well, but the wait times for both food and beverages were reasonable. Food: The restaurant's menu consisted of a variety of dishes that were Italian , bruschetta was 5/5 pizza 2/5 lasagnia 5/5 local beer 5/5

Our favorite place in Budapest since we discovered it over 10 years ago. There's never a time when we're traveling to the city or just passing through it, that we don't stop here. Gianmario is such a warm hearted and amazing host. Always with a personal approach to guests who become friends and family. The whole team and atmosphere are amazing. Thank you friends!

Staff were extremely friendly, we didn’t enjoy the food — though that was probably more to do with what we ordered than the quality itself! The football shirts inside were a nice personal touch and I liked the foreign currency wall; I gave it a euro note contribution!

5 lost wet and bedraggled English ladies had the most amazing meal tonight with exceptional service. They went above and beyond to make us feel safe and welcome. Even got us a taxi and made sure we were taken safely back to our hotel. Highly recommended.

There are several.italian owning places in Budapest, but here I sense the Italian breath, to speak clearly; several other places with Italian attribute are also nice, but there somehow the spontaneity, crowding and noise was like in Italy ...I very rarely eat pizza but there was delicious & golden grapa also. The service was friendly 🤣...So to everyone who would like a relaxed evening with a simple but good food then visit the place!!!!!!

It really is one of the best places to eat in budapest if you are looking for italian food, the staff are so friendly and very helpful, the pizza is so great and delicious, also the pasta is amazing, they have a special daily menu, make sure to order from it as they have some really tasty dishes.

Gian Mario is one of our favorite pizza places in Budapest. Whether we order delivery or dine in at the venue, we have never been disappointed so far. And in addition to the great quality the pizza prices are even a little lower than at some of their competitors.

Their pizza is authentic Italian pizza...and I would hope so as they are Italian. This is every bit as good as the pizza you will have anywhere in Italy. It's so good that I might go back again, and I'm only here for a few days.

What a find! While it's simple decor may have you wondering, it turned out to be a really authentic Italian restaurant where we enjoyed a great meal. Pizza was above average and we saw a good number of Italian speaking diners ...always a good sign! Recommended.
