I would recommend to visit the hotel and see the beautiful interior design and definitely visit the roof lounge. However, i will strongly recommend not staying in the hotel as i just stayed there for 4 nights and I totally regret it and wish i had stayed at the 4 seasons for the same price. We booked the deluxe room for around €400/night and trust me it is not worth it for the following reasons: 1- we stayed in room 222 in the second floor and you could hear all the noise from the cars at night and the construction work in the morning. We couldn’t have a good sleep during our stay. 2- The room cleaning was terrible, we returned to a messy room. They only changed the towels!! 3- they only offered one free small bottle of water a day and will charge you for any additional bottles which was ridiculous given the amount we are paying for the room. 4- I was checking out in rush in order not miss my flight and I unfortunately forgot my wallet at the hotel while checking out. On my way to the airport i called the hotel more than 10 times requesting them to find my wallet but they were not helpful at all. They still didn’t call me back to let me know if they found it or not!! 5-overall quality and standard of service is definitely not a 5 stars level. They simply don’t show you they care about the guest

Shortened my stay and left after one night instead of three. The hotel was not able to provide us a room we booked. The web site says Matild room has 40 sqm, but we got a cave with no more than 25 sqm. The rooms are not soundproof, you hear all the noise coming from the street say and night. It’s difficult to have a good night sleep. The service is slow and weird. Management is not interested in guests relations. They don’t show up and don’t try to resolve the issues. Marriott Ambassador status recognition is non-existent. You pay more than 500 Euro/night for smallish room and mediocre service. We won’t return and won’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

An amazing luxury experience in a beautiful grand hotel. Perfect location at the foot of Elizabeth Bridge, across Gellért Hill. Great views!

From Check in to check out, our stay in the Matild Palace was perfect. Our room/suite was fantastic. Beautiful pictures of the hotel you can see online are not lying, in fact the reality is even better as all the mod cons or the heavenly, super high quality bedding have to be experienced in person to be fully appreciated. Our bathroom was like a work of art, I could just stare at the beauty of it. The building is beautiful, but what takes the hotel to another level is the absolutely exquisite customer service. Lili at reception was exceptional, but all staff were excellent and made us feel really special which is a credit to their training. If you wonder if the hotel is worth booking... Don't hesitate, just do it.

This hotel does not have its own parking lot, the nearest parking lot is approx. 500 m, only open till 22:00. I booked a room with king size bed directly through the mariott bonvoy app, upon arrival they informed me that they only had a room with separate beds available. The staff was absolutely unwilling, so I canceled my reservation. There are many good hotels in Budapest, this one has a nice restaurant with terrible service! NEVER MORE !

Absolutely amazing hotel with even more amazing staff. As we were spending our wedding anniversary with my wife in Budapest, we could not have chosen any better. The room was decorated with our pictures, champagne waiting for us as we arrived. Matild Cafe and Spago restaurant offered unforgettable culinary experience with the best service ever. Spa staff was extremely nice and professional in their approach. I will return with great pleasure.

Best location of the major 5-star hotels in Budapest (Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, etc), in my opinion, after staying 4 nights in Budapest and having lunched at these other 5-star hotels. And I’ll add an important comment to my review: If you are offered a separate twin bed in accordance with your needs, do accept it! I took up on this offer at check-in, unsure whether it was the right choice, only to find the extra twin bed more comfortable than many of the luxury hotel king beds I’ve experienced around the world!I was indeed told it’d be a comfortable bed when I checked in, hence you know you can trust this hotel management. It’s not a perfect property, however: The Grohe auto-opening toilet seemed buggy. The Japanese ones are far better. But you definitely won’t regret choosing this historical hotel.

Updated review- It’s a shame that their management doesn’t live up to the beautiful hotel itself. We booked for two nights in advance and extended our stays while staying at the hotel. As stated in the original review, the hotel failed to look into the problem when I brought up the privacy issue. Also, unlike many other hotels, they didn’t provide a convenience of extending stays without checking out and in again. The manager was aware that we checked out and in for the extended stays first and then turned the privacy sign on. But the sign was turned off and the housekeeper entered our room. The manager admitted the malfunction of their resetting system and it occurred hours after the check out and in which turned off the privacy sign. For their negligence of investigating the problem and system’s malfunction, our privacy was invaded. Original review- We’ve been staying this hotel for the last 3 nights. The hotel itself is so beautiful. However, housekeepers enter into our room when the privacy sign is on. We leave our room with the sign on but it’s turned off when we return. Water bottles were put in on the first day when the sign was on and I brought up the concern to the front desk this morning. Then we left with the sign on but it was off again and the room was made. The housekeeper walked into our room with no permission and touched and moved all our stuff. Very disappointing and would never return. Booked the room through Amex FHR and will report the issue to them.

Absolutely not recommending their restaurant to foreigners, tonight all the tables with Hungarian guests ,served on time (even those who came and set after us! ) with drinks, food and ...but nothing for us after 45 minutes of ordering, not even glass of water ! When we complained the rude garson told , they were busy ! While they were twice or three times fulfilling the drinks for Hungarian guests! ( we also had reservation)

On our honeymoon and it was amazing! The building itself is gorgeous and what they did with the rooms is impressive. The bathroom was my favorite part, balcony. Staff was amazing. Only thing we didn't like as much was the food for in room dining, we were expecting more from that. Besides that the place is absolutely beautiful!

One of our favorite hotels. The corner suite was beautiful and comfortable. Their room service food was delicious and their rooftop bar had the most amazing view. We had been eating heavy while visiting Hungary so I was so happy to find healthier options at their main restaurant. Great staff also. Will definitely be back.

From the moment we arrived at Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Budapest, it was clear that our stay was going to be extraordinary. Every detail of this magnificent hotel exudes a blend of historic charm and modern luxury that is truly captivating. Our room was a dream come true. Facing the majestic Danube River, it offered breathtaking views that added a special touch to our stay. Waking up to the sight of the river, especially during the golden sunrise, was a unique experience that I will fondly remember. What truly sets Matild Palace apart, though, is their exceptional hospitality and service. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, demonstrating professionalism and warmth that are truly commendable. They made my birthday celebration not just special, but unforgettable, consistently going the extra mile to make us feel celebrated. The hotel's location is another highlight. Nestled in the heart of Budapest, it provided easy access to the city's charming sights and landmarks. We could explore most of the places by foot, immersing ourselves in the city's vibrant culture and history at our leisure. In terms of dining, the hotel offers an exquisite culinary experience that complements its stunning ambiance. Every meal was a delight, showcasing a variety of flavors that cater to every palate. Staying at Matild Palace was more than just a stay—it was an experience; a journey through time, luxury, and top-tier hospitality. As we left the hotel, we carried with us not just souvenirs, but beautiful memories that will always remind us of the grandeur and warmth of Matild Palace. GP, thank you for making our visit to Budapest and my birthday celebration truly unforgettable.

This hotel is flawless. I literally cannot find one fault if my recent stay. Beautifully decorated, comfortable amenities, and excellent and professional service. I cannot say enough good things about this property. Even better, the view from the rooftop bar is incredible.

I am currently staying at the Matild Palace in Budapest, elegantly combines historic charm with modern amenities. The well-appointed rooms offer comfort and luxury. Its central location is ideal for city exploration. However, the hotel's service, particularly at breakfast lacks efficiency. Staff, seemingly new, struggle to maintain expected service standards, slightly diminishing the overall experience.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Matild Palace in Budapest, specifically in the Loft Suite. The unique windows, spectacular design, and large seating area made our stay unforgettable. The automated shades were a thoughtful touch, but we often opted to leave them open to enjoy the breathtaking views. While the hotel itself, along with its café and restaurants, are absolutely stunning, there is room for improvement in the room service department. We specified a 30-minute wait for our order, but it took well over an hour to arrive and the food was incorrectly prepared. Given our exhaustion, we decided not to send it back and risk waiting even longer. That being said, the morning breakfasts in the café were consistently superb, and the waitstaff was always attentive and accommodating. Additionally, we attended the Matild Cafe Cabaret on our last evening, which featured fantastic dancers and a talented singer. Although we would have loved more dance scenes, the overall experience was enjoyable, albeit quite expensive. The Matild Palace is undeniably a gorgeous and luxurious hotel, but it comes with a hefty price tag. While we were mostly pleased with our stay, the room service experience left something to be desired. If you're seeking an opulent experience in Budapest and are willing to spend a bit more, this hotel is definitely worth considering.

Matild Palace is an exquisite hotel that exemplifies what it means to be five star. The location is fabulous, near shopping and dining and the river and great sites, and it is extraordinarily easy to walk anywhere. The building itself is beautiful inside and out. On the outside it is a classically built “palace” and on the inside it is immaculate from top to bottom. The service is wonderful. From the reception, to housekeeping to the restaurant staff. All are professional, kind, caring and welcoming and make the guests feel like they are important. The rooms are beautiful. Modern yet classical, with great views, large and beautiful bathrooms, beautiful furniture, and comfortable beds and modern electronics that make the stay very comfortable. the restaurants are also excellent. The breakfast is amazing and of course Spago is great as well as the rooftop bar. All in all a wonderful hotel and I’ll never stay anywhere else when I was a Budapest.

I booked for dinner at Spago whilst visiting Budapest. I was looking for somewhere special and stubbles across Spago. So glad I did! What an experience from the moment you arrive. The whole time you were made to feel special treated with delights well beyond the food which was simply fantastic! I sat near the kitchen which I recommend. The whole team are very welcoming including the chefs! We had different dishes which we gladly shared as they were so good. The wine choice is excellent too (as you would expect). Finished off with an after dinner drink at the roof top bar which closed off an amazing night. Highly recommend!

Amazing hotel, probably the best in europe for my opinion. We stayed at matild palace for 3 nights, for anniversary celebration. The wonderfull experience started in the first day: our room was ready at 11 in the mornng, with nice decorations for the annivarcery. Then, we also got a cake and bottle of wine and discount on spa treatments. The room was not to big but in the right size, soft drinks were complementry. The staff were allways smiling and ready to help. The design of the hotel is very impressive. The brakfest was excelent: evrything was tasty and fresh. The hotel includes also a spa: with salt room and sauna: very quite, clean and relaxing. In conclusion: definitely a luxery experience, the best service in great location in bodapest. Will be back again to Marriot for sure!!

Maybe the best hotel I've ever visited. We stayed three nights at the Matild Palace in a one-bedroom corner suite. The entire stay was flawless. The pre arrival communication was especially helpful as our flights were disrupted and we were delayed. They also arranged a special welcome as we were celebrating my birthday. The hotel is brand new and stunning with old world charm. The lobby is welcoming. The front desk staff were friendly and proved welcome drinks while checking us in. The concierge had excellent recommendations for our stay. The hotel stands out as it's own "palace" in the center of the city and it's big enough to have everything you need yet smal enough to feel pampered. Breakfast was served in an amazing space with details that made me feel like I was in old world luxury. The food was delicious, service great, and the atmosphere was something entirely unique. It was the type of luxury stay that lives up to the price tag. No snobbery here. Just being a taken care of start to finish where they make sure your stay is wonderful without imposing. Highly recommend.

What an amazing hotel! We had a 5-night stay here, with airport transfer, breakfast and a dinner at Spago (not included). The rooms were fantastic, and we were offered an upgrade to a Loft Suite, which we did decline. Very kind anyway. The rooms are classic in looks but very modern. Japanese toilet, amazing light controls and TV operating system. Connection with Google Chromecast was flawless and communications to the restaurants, concierge and reception worked well. The restaurants and other facilities are of amazing visual aesthetics. The Mathilde Café where breakfast is served, is so beautiful and the breakfast options are a mix of á la carte egg dishes and things like pancakes, as well as a buffet of great variety. Spago by Wolfgang Puck is also recommended if you stay here. It is amazing food with fun dishes like the ones served at the Oscars in 2019 I believe.

I felt so special from the moment I arrived until I left. The front desk employees and the housekeeping/mini bar restocker were so incredibly kind, it made the stay perfect. Room was very clean and beautiful. A vacation in itself. I cannot say enough besides thank you to the staff. I will return!

My wife and I just spent 3 days at the Matild Palace this week as it capped off our 15 day river cruise. It was a fabulous experience at the Matild Palace, a great hotel, great location, great staff! With no prompting they delivered a bottle of Procesco and a chocolate dessert from their restaurant Spago to celebrate our 43rd anniversary. We love Budapest and the Matild Palace and will be back on our next visit from Canada!

Had a lovely time at the Matild Palace. The building is gorgeous and the location fantastic, walking distance to everything downtown. The room was very pretty, the bed very comfy and the bathroom rather luxurious. Though the high tech toilet didn't work... Breakfast was very nice with a small buffet and a la carte options to order. The buns for the eggs Benedict were burger buns, so a bit big, but it was delicious. Local style eggs and pancakes were well prepared. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Absolutely loved their rooftop bar, gorgeous design, fantastic cocktails and very friendly service. Would be amazing in the summer. Prices are on the higher end, comparable to the Ritz Carlton (that offers a pool)... I would stay again...

A nice hotel, I enjoyed my stay here. The staff are very helpful, the attic room was really lovely and felt so cosy and homely. Comfortable beds, large baths and very quiet rooms. As an old Palace, it has some beautiful details. There is a rooftop bar, gym and spa. The breakfast here was exceptional- both an a la carte menu and very extensive (and good quality) buffet.

As a frequent traveler with an eye for luxury and perfection, especially in top-tier hotels, I had specific expectations for my stay at Matild Palace in Budapest. The hotel boasts many commendable features but also several areas needing improvement. Positives: 1. Room Quality: The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and provide a comfortable stay. 2. Bathroom: The luxurious bathroom facilities are a standout feature. 3. Dining: The Spago restaurant offers fantastic culinary experiences, and the rooftop bar creates a welcoming atmosphere. Areas for Improvement: 1. Late Checkout Policy: Despite my Gold Elite status, the hotel was inflexible with late checkout requests. Being denied a 2 PM checkout, even on a low-occupancy Sunday in November, was disappointing. 2. Breakfast Quality: For a hotel of this caliber, the breakfast was underwhelming. The Eggs Benedict were dry, fruit options limited, and the overall selection did not meet high-class standards. 3. Lack of Amenities: The absence of a swimming pool is a noticeable shortfall in a hotel of this price range. 4. Service: The arrival experience was subpar. Having to call for a bellboy and wait upon arrival does not align with the expected level of service. Conclusion: While Matild Palace has strengths, the negatives, particularly in service and amenities, outweigh them. For a hotel positioning itself in the high-class category, these aspects should be impeccable. I hope the hotel considers adjusting either their services or their rates to reflect the actual experience offered. As a loyal Marriott customer, I’ll explore other options like the W Hotel on my next visit, which has consistently met my expectations.

5 stars isn't enough. This hotel will surpass all your expectations for quality service and room quality. It is perfectly located for walking distance to many central locations. I truly don't need to say more than that because it's true.

Best Marriott hotel I have stayed so far! I have stayed with Marriott for 100 nights so far this year, so believe me I have been to many Marriott hotels around the world. As a titanium member, they upgraded me to an absolutely amazing suite. The bathtub is just so dreamy! All the services are very good as well. I’ll recommend it to anyone traveling to Budapest.

WOW! My wife and I decided to spend out one year wedding anniversary in Budapest and selected the newly renovated Matild Palace. We could not have been happier! Before we even arrived we were contacted by the most helpful concierge team that we have experienced throughout our frequent stays at Luxury Collection hotels. They were able to get us transported to and from the airport/train station without complications; night cruise of the Danube river; dinner/bar reservations and even scheduled a tour of the hotel for us. We were greeted with local sparkling wine and upgraded to a one bedroom suite (platinum member). When we walked in to our room, it was beautifully decorated for our anniversary - there was even a bottle of French Champagne! Unfortunately the first suite’s air conditioning was not working but the staff handled the situation quickly. They moved us just next door to an even better suite within 10 minutes! The transition was so smooth and they apologized immediately. Every staff member we interacted with was so helpful. We felt like we were royalty. The food at the restaurant was some of the best food in town. Overall if you are looking for a place in Budapest, treat yourself to the Matild Palace. We are already planning our next trip back!

I appreciated their attention to detail to make us as comfortable as possible. (Leaving welcoming notes and treats for everyday that we stayed) I really loved how they took care of my son's needs both requested and unrequested (definitely family friendly hotel). The room was kept clean and stocked ...assistance at press of a finger! All around fabulous hotel.

We just eat at the restaurant at the Matild Palace hotel and it was quite nice; first, the staff was very polite and looks very much helpfull; but was not so effective. We didn't find a place to the table; we found a place in the bar. They promised that one table will be empty they will move us. Finally doesn't happen, even there was a lot of empty tables! Nevertheless the food was very good and so the wine (even the wine was quite expansive relating to quality). A final touch: I recomand it!

Stayed here for a couple of days in August 2021. I booked the Elisabeth Bridge Suite but got upgraded to the Crown Tower Suite (not an upgrade you normally get, just got very lucky). Since the hotel opened in 2021 everything was brand new. The location is great, you can cross the Danube to visit the castle, walk along the river to the Houses of Parliament or walk to the nearby Jewish quarter for drinks and food. Breakfast is a la carte which is a nice change from the usual breakfast buffet offered at many hotels. Unfortunately the rooftop bar wasn’t open while I stayed (it’s open Thursday through Sunday). The crown tower suite is amazing, over three levels with a living room on the ground level and another one going up into the tower from the bedroom. Upstairs from that is the tower with 360 degree look over Budapest. All the technical things worked flawlessly, the lighting system is very well thought out with panels everywhere and different dimming levels. The toilet also comes with a couple of unusual features (Japanese style but German manufacturer). AC and Internet access work well, televisions support Chromecast so you are not limited to local programs. Definitely book a suite if it’s in your budget. Only fault with the suites is that you may not want to leave to enjoy the city, we actually stayed in one night and raided the minibar - which was included in the price and features upscale liquor and Hungarian craft beer. The staff is great, most speak excellent English and there is always someone nearby if you have questions. During these pandemic times many Hotels feel somewhat deserted - not this one, it felt like there was more staff than guests.

How not to love this place ! The hotel has been fully renovated and everything is precious. The staff was really nice and professional, the rooftop has an amazing view of Budapest and the coktails/wine selection are fitting the place and exactly what I was expecting.

Another great hotel in Budapest. We stayed for one night and were pleasantly surprised. Great interior, great service with a few remarks. The concierge is open until 20:00, which, in my opinion, is not at all acceptable for a five-star hotel.Breakfast has no atmosphere and charm, just breakfast. Will I come back? Definitely don't know, I like Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace better.

We loved the hotel during our stay and the service was fantastic. It's in a good location, walking distance to most places or a bus and Tram station nearby. The bathrooms are updated and very large, except the bath tub which is a bit small. The bed was also super comfortable (medium-soft).

Gorgeous, recently renovated, luxurious hotel and with the Spago by Wolfgang Puck restaurant. Very professional team and delicious food with wide variety of special wines. Parking garages are available within 5 minutes but I recommend to use public transport or take a longer walk in the beautiful heart on the downtown of Budapest. Pricing goes with the quality but not extremely expensive, 14% service fee is included in the bill.

I have stayed in many different hotels around the world but never one as beautiful and thoughtful as Matild. They made our honeymoon unforgettable with their attention to detail. The matild cafe service + ambience + live performance + food quality and price is unbeatable. The only gripe was it wasn't easy to obtain the email contact to communicate with them. Have I mentioned the architecture marvel of the hotel??!!!

You cannot have a full enough vocabulary to describe this magnificent place! The gentleman (I believe his name was Bence P.) that checked us in was kind and very professional. Absolutely the type of individual that all hotel personnel should strive to treat guests. All the staff from the Duchess to the Spago to the Matild Cafe were professional and spot-on! The room that we stayed in was both glamorous and timeless. The architecture is exquisite from the floor to ceiling throughout the final touches in detail. There are views from everywhere you turn inside and out. I highly recommend that you add the Matild Palace in Budapest to your bucket list. Enjoy!

I stayed here with my husband on our honeymoon & it was perfect. The decor & design are absolutely stunning. Breakfast buffet is the best I’ve seen at a hotel. The pastries are some of the best I’ve ever had. Service is excellent. The staff accommodated us early as we arrived 5 hours before our checkin time. They upgraded our room & checked us in right away. The bathrooms in the rooms are next level luxury. Location is great—walking distance to Rudas Baths, Jewish District, Fashion Street & Basilica. We also got services at the spa. They fit us in last minute on Valentine’s Day & our therapists were lovely. For the price, I think this is the best luxury hotel experience in Budapest. With the architecture, design, food & spa experiences this is very much a uniquely Hungarian experience.

Outstanding property in Budapest. Brand new renovated and gorgeous! Every details has been restored to this property dating back to 1902 and served as the social hub of the city. It is an UNESCO world heritage site and is under monumental protection since 1977. Spago restaurant is outstanding and the cocktails are spectacular. All the staff is outstanding as well. You must make reservation to get into the Duchess Roof Top Bar.

Amazing restoration of a beautiful classic building. The Cafe is nicer & much less crowded than Cafe New York. We had a 1st floor city view corner suite. We'd stay in the room again, it was fantastic. Beware the cabaret music is very loud in that particular suite on weekends, but the cabaret does not go very late.

Impeccable stay. Everything was perfect. The hotel is beautiful and historic, the service was excellent, the location ideal. We celebrated our anniversary and were treated very specially. Bonvoy status was recognized. Every need was met. Our room was quiet, luxurious and comfortable. Breakfast was varied and delicious. I could go on and on. But needless to say I highly recommend staying here.

My husband and I are used to staying in luxury hotels all over the world, so we know what customer service is, but this hotel sets a whole new bar in hospitality. We received the most wonderful upgrade to a beautiful corner suite. Photos of our wedding were waiting for us in the suite, as well as a bottle of sparkling wine, heart balloons, fruits, and the most delicious chocolate fondant cake. We are used to staying in luxury hotels around the world and therefore know the standards of real luxury. For us the luxury is the service and attention to details. Matild Palace delivered the best hotel experience we have ever experienced. Each and every member of staff was so professional, kind and service-minded, without being intrusive or overly formal. The spa was lovely, and we enjoyed a few hours in the steam room, sauna, hamman, and salt room. Breakfast was included with platinum status and was phenomenal. The most delicious homemade muffins and pastries, perfect cappuccinos and espressos, cooked egg dishes, homemade breads, pancakes, French toasts. We really felt pampered and were treated like royalty throughout our visit. Our anniversary was so special, and we cannot thank the Matild Palace team enough! Best hotel we have ever stayed at, we cannot wait to return!!!
