We were looking for a restaurant near our hotel. As we walked past we discovered the restaurant and were able to get the last available seat. A beautifully decorated family run restaurant. We were warmly greeted in German and the menu was also explained in German. The food was perfectly seasoned and very tasty. We had the pork medallions and the Budapest-style beef goulash. We were already stuffed, but we also had to have the homemade apple strudel. All in all, a nice dinner in a cozy atmosphere and we will come back on our next visit to Budapest.

Traditional Hungarian restaurant run by a Family for many years now. Excellent menu if you want to try classic food, we choose selection of Hungarian hot starters, 2 types of soups and few mains. All delicious! As we heard about great taste of regional Wines we grabbed a bottle of Merlot, and obviously some shots of classic Palinka. Surprisingly the owner speaks almost all the languages from Europe 😂 as well menu is prepared in few languages so it’s very easy to choose. The place is quite small so I recommend to book before, as it’s quite popular and we’ll known from the friendly hospitality.

One of the best meals I've ever had! The deer stew with potato donuts was amazing. The owner is very friendly and passionate about the food and wine. A must-visit for anyone travelling to Budapest.

This is a little gem, found it before we went to Budapest, the food was fabulous and the service was excellent, they couldn't have more to make us welcome. Don't go by the outside by day, small, cosy, olde Worldy and family run, we'll be back in the future. 👍😋🇭🇺

Great place! Really nice traditional dishes presented and served from the owner who assisted us on what to take and which wine could match with our dish selections. The Hungarian beef stew was cooked perfectly and the strudel tasted and smelled as it should. Highly recommended!

We made a reservation a month ago, and when we arrived on the same day, there was a notice on the door that reservations were required, so we recommend that you book a table online first to avoid missing a delicious meal. Because the number of tables is small, the boss can personally receive every guest and make every guest feel at home. We tasted venison here for the first time, and this dish is also highly recommended by many people after dining here. Before serving the food, the boss also introduced us how to stew and season the food, so that we could fully understand the taste we were about to taste. Another dish called paprika chicken, which is paired with pasta that has a texture similar to gnocchi, is also highly recommended, especially the sauce is very delicious.

Its our first day in Budapest and we were searching for something Hungarian for dinner. Chef Café offers delicious hungarian beef goulash and pork filet+Lango. The food was spiced really well and the Apfelstrudel was also good. The restaurant owner is very friendly and the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere. Price is ok and we would like to visit again in the future.

The restaurant is very cozy . Very welcoming. We didn't have reservations but the host seatedbus immediately. The host/owner explained us about the food and suggested what wine pairs well with that. Food was really good .

Really great tasting food. A straight forward menu with only a handful of options but each is perfect and exceptional. The chef/owner knows the food, wine and history inside out. It's a real personal touch, with great food. If you like beef, try the deer. Its exquisite.
