An opulent gem nestled in the heart of Buenos Aires, the Alvear Palace Hotel is a treasure trove of elegance and luxury. From the moment I stepped foot into the lobby, I was greeted by the beautiful decor and the most magnificent marble spiral staircase I've ever seen. The architectural marvel itself is a symphony of beauty, perfectly blending timeless charm with modern luxury. Every corner of this enchanting establishment exudes sophistication and grandeur, making my stay an unforgettable experience. The attention to detail and the impeccable service provided by the staff made me feel like royalty throughout my entire visit. The rooms are a sanctuary of comfort and style. I can't recommend the Alvear Palace Hotel enough for anyone seeking a touch of luxury and a stay filled with unparalleled elegance.

This is absolutely the worst 5-star hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff are rude and incompetent and the manager refused to even answer my complaint. The worst of Buenos Aires. This hotel is living in the past and refuses to acknowledge it. Avoid.

I expected excellence, but I didn’t find it this time. Went to the bar to have some nice coffees, lemonades and croissants with my friends. The bar is beautiful and the service is good. The coffee was average, the lemonades as well and the croissants weren’t fresh (they were a bit hard actually). And you pay more than double that in most places. So I would not recommend it for coffee, lemonades and croissants.

It's supposed to be a luxury hotel. However, the whole point of staying at such property is not for the decor or the bed comfort level (as important as those are), the most important thing when picking a property is HOW they make you feel. The Alvear hotel failed at making us feel welcome. Both the concierge and the restaurant hostess were hostile, distant and unpleasant. Not to mentioned that they refused to let us have breakfast 10:45AM. It would have cost them NOTHING to say yes to a quick coffee in the courtyard. But they showed their lack of customer service right away. This silly, and small behavior left a bad taste in our mouths. What a shame. My advise is don't take any chances. If you want to have true first class service, go where they treat you well.

Today is my birthday. And I wanted to have breakfast at the hotel lobby because it reminds me of home (the Plaza hotel in NYC) . My husband & I walked from the 4 seasons hotel to the Alvear. I was looking forward to a wonderful experience. Instead we got a rude & unpleasant hostess who said that she could not sit us because we were not staying at the hotel. It. Was 10:45 AM and they would soon be breaking for their next service. No exceptions would be made. She did make a point of telling us that had we stayed there we would have been seated!! 😳 Wow!! I promise, I will never be a customer. Way to go Alvear! You certainly leave up to your argentinean stereotype of being an underachieving 3rd world country.

Don’t miss the opportunity to have Afternoon Tea at Alvear Palace... English tea ceremony, check the pictures out... This place is one of the most emblematic hotels in Argentina. I will always return here, amazing experience.

Stayed at this hotel as the starting point for a seabourn cruise. The interior is gorgeous. The service was efficient. The restaurants seemed to be over priced compared to the Park Tower hotel. The room was spacious and had a couch. In a nice area where you could walk to restaurants in less than 16 minutes.

Great place for a civilized lunch after the hustle of downtown. Silver service, tea, even a little bucket of ice to keep your beer cold. There is a buffet - cold- mostly vegetables with a hot soup and cheese plate. Hot entrees are separately priced. If you go on Monday or Tuesday, there is a 15% discount.

Classic hotel in the “Grand Hotel” tradition. Staff is excellent. Rooms, at least those that have been recently renovated, are spacious and well appointed. Good location for both business and tourism. New Rooftop Bar offers great views of the City.

This is five star hotel and is reflected in every aspect. The rooms are very well appointed and service in phenomenal. Because of hotel availability we had to get a suite. It was around $1,500 USD per night and worth it. Two full bedrooms, two marble lined bathrooms, and a large living room. The Concierge desk was most helpful. Most of the staff speaks English.

Very nice hotel reminds The Plaza of NY, rooms with a lot of luxury and good size, beautiful common area and great buffet breakfast! Also very nice having the rooftop bar and the main bar. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Also very good location, walkable to the Recoleta and some shopping and restaurants. Very good price for the luxury that you get! Not a single issue during the stay, only positive things!

Lunch on a Saturday in their main/ garden restaurant: a cold buffet which was not cheap but still good value. The dishes were fresh and varied enough, the service professional and the room and atmosphere was very nice indeed. Minor quibble but irritating was a glass of Chardonnay was +1000 pesos which was double what it should have been (my fault for not checking the menu first but nonsensical in any event). I will not rush back because once bit twice shy but overall without gouging the wine it was a nice experience.

Family cream tea here on 23/12/22 was great! The selection of sandwiches was good but no choice of teas this time and it arrived warm. No butter on the table and cream was dreadful. 10,000 pesos per person should be sufficient for larger scones and a better selection of cakes. But very enjoyable as the staff are friendly and the environment relaxing.

Definitely a must stay in BA. Historic, amazing customer service and location. We stayed at the four seasons previously, no comparison. The Alvear has a much better location as compared to the four seasons that faces the highway - way too noisy. The Alvear has much better food, breakfast is amazing and lastly the concierge is much more attentive. So if your trying to decide between these two hotels, The Alvear is much better in every aspect.

We went to the Alvear Palace for Brunch and had a very pleasant evening. The atmosphere of the hotel is breathtaking, you really feel in an aristocratic palace. The food itself was pretty average. The meal pays by itself when you order wine and serve yourself a huge amount of seafood and sushi, but these are the only stars of the show. All of the hot dishes were 100% dry by 2:30PM, I literally served myself a plate and gave it back. The service is not up to the standard of the hotel. We were thirsty pretty often and had to call the waiter constantly for drinks (which are included). I would come back, but just for the fish and wine. Don’t get distracted by the rest

Service was great, the hotel was beautiful and luxurious, although more attention should be made to the upkeep of the suites. I also found the lobby and roof top bar close rather early, but perhaps I'm just used to Montreal hours and nightlife.

Beautiful hotel. Excellent food and service, including the spa. Our suite had a slight hint of sewage and the internet was terrible.

Came here for the afternoon tea. It was cute & affordable. I didn’t love most of the sandwiches, but still enjoyed the experience.

Alvear Palace is one of our all-time favorite hotels. Right up there with Halekulani and Hotel de Rome. We have stayed here 3 times and long for more! The Old-School-Grand-Hotel-Aura is ever present and all the staff represent this well too. The rooms are luscious, the breakfast superb and the Bar has an addictive atmosphere and good food and drinks. The staff is alert, attentive and helpful and provided excellent suggestions on how to spend spare time in BA. What more can you ask for? We will be back! Muchas gracias a todo el personal de parte de sus fans suizos!

The hotel shares the street with the Park Hyatt and Sofitel hotels. The area is safe with lots of security guards in front of high-end jewelry stores and the occasional uniformed police officers. The hotel's decor definitely reminds one of the 1930s and is absolutely charming throughout. The location of the breakfast with the vaulted glass ceiling is equally stunning, though the breakfast falls quite short of what a seasoned travels expects at a 5-star hotel. The dinner in the lobby lounge, including desert was quite disappointing and one would not repeat the experience. The desert claiming to come with fruit had two spoon full of very sweet jam instead. While most of the service was nice, there was a glitch in arranging airport transportation of me, so it never happened. While the decor of the hotel is clearly nice and transforming and the location is good, I might opt to try one of the other properties next time.

This is a gorgeous, opulent hotel that really delivers on the palace experience. Rooms are nice, bathroom is huge, and make sure you have a drink at the bar and get a Malbec Sour. 👌🏼

We had drinks on the roof top. Service was excellent as were the appetizers and drinks we ordered. The hotel concierge was very helpful and efficient in helping us alter an existing reservation.

The room was quiet and comfortable. My only complaint is that the bed was sloped to the edge. A detail that should not be present at $750 per night. The staff is generally very good, but communication among staff could be better. For example, the concierge had no idea the rooftop bar was reserved for a private party. The breakfast in the morning has an impressive array of pastries. Very limited on hot items.

Absolutely wonderful hotel, if you want your visit to Buenos Aires to be unforgettable, if you are there and want to enjoy a lavish tea or brunch. One of the city's wonderful gems! A little bit of Paris with unique porteño flair.

Disappointing for what I was expecting. Under-equipped, uncomfortable, and room smelled musty. Stayed my final night at a place the next block over for 1/5th the cost and was so much happier.

Grand old palace hotel in a superb location. If you’re looking for a plush hotel in a beautiful location then you can’t ask for better than the Alvear Palace. Rooms are huge with crystal chandeliers, solid antique marble bathrooms, grand public areas, superb service, wonderful rooftop pool/ sun terrace and bar. We stayed for 3 nights after disembarking from a cruise. The location was is a very safe and clean neighbourhood where is was easy to walk to nearby cafes, and to get taxis anywhere in town. The breakfast was exceptional and definitely worth including in your rate; there is a huge array of items on offer, plus you can order espresso beverages from the waiters which are made to order. The rooms are beautifully appointed and tastefully furnished, and have massive beds - biggest bed I’ve ever had I think (!) and are exceptionally comfortable. Rooms are serviced twice a day by the hotel staff and kept immaculately clean. The only small negative was the valet staff out front ; they were lacking in service and not alway visible, and failed to paid attention to guests coming and going. Overall it was a exceptional stay and we can’t wait to return to the Alvear Palace.

Poor service and sexist hotel. Made reservations for the tea service over the phone. Upon arrival, the hostess did not have the reservation and informed us that we needed to wait 45 minutes. After waiting, we were then informed that males cannot wear dress shorts (88 degrees that day). The hostess did not inform us either via the phone call or in person (as we waited). Note that they did allow females to enter, even if they wore short skirts and practically no shirt. Sexism at its best.

We've lost the count how many times in the last 5 years my husband and I have been a guest at Palace Alvear. Is our favorite in town, safe, the location is the best (restaurant, coffees at walk distance), the restaurant is great and so is the staff. We truly feel like at home while staying at Alvear, we recommend all our friends and family to visit. The fitness room and the wifi can be improved.

I stayed there on a business trip the hotel is really one of the nicest I have stayed in ever But the most important part where the people working there they are all extremely friendly and try to cater to any need no matter how small but the biggest surprise was when I had an issue with some staff that had problems with canceled flights. The concierge was a women I wish I would remember her name but she literally was on the phone for hours helping me sort it out. I was blown away I kept saying I was sorry for bothering here but she just shrugged it off with no worries happy I can help I have never seen such nice kind and dedicated people in any other place Thanks!

It was my first time at this gorgeous Hotel. We went for a presentation of a law firm. The service was impecable and the salon was perfectly set. My only objection is that in the ladies restroom there wasn´t a trash can to dispose the paper towels. Everything else was neatly set

Beautiful old hotel with large hotel rooms and good in-house restaurants. Service is a little slow but I expect after they are able to hire more staff after the downturn they will return to a truly excellent hotel. Many of the staff are well trained and provide very good service, but they appear to be spread thin.

Such elegance and beauty. Very helpful staff. Incredible Bar and Restaurant. Breakfast was fresh and catered to everyone. Continental or local. The roof top Bar was the highlight. Must Visit again.

We had dinner here the day before we left the country, and I wish we had found it sooner. I had so looked forward to the famous beef in Argentina, but was less than impressed so far. IT was good, but I've had better steak at good steak houses in Texas... but this place, this place was amazing. Had we found it sooner, we would have gone multiple times. It's not a bar, so I won't judge them on their drinks, but their old fashioned left a lot to be desired. IF you want a proper old fashioned, there's a cigar bar a half block down that makes an amazing one.

By far the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The service is superior to any hotel we have ever stayed in in the U.S. The service the cleanliness, everything and everything. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. To top it off , the place is absolutely stunning. I don't ever want to stay in any other hotel when we visit Buenos Aires. FYI they have a tea time which is an absolute great experience.

Excellent service, but what really does it for me is the awesome water pressure in the shower and super comfortable beds. The location is also terrific as you're just steps away from the hop on-off yellow bus line - a great way to see the city in a very short period of time.

Stunning property. Over the top gilded. Rooms are beautiful and very traditional. Downstairs bars and dining areas are a feast for the eyes. Only drawback - no coffee available in the rooms (unlike Park Hyatt). Also, indoor pool is relatively small if that is of concern.

Iconic Argentine grand-dame. I did not stay at the property on this particular trip, but did some recon by having lunch at the property. She is still beautiful and a great choice among the areas five-star hotels.

Very noisy. Noises from everywhere, street traffic (we requested a room away from busy street, but), hallway and banning of renovations. Room was tired. Extensive decoration didn’t help with poor rest in the room.

Typical high end hotel, dressed in an “old money” type of fashion. Great location, specially if you want to go shopping! The whole surrounding area feels like being somewhere in Europe… probably Paris I’d say ! If you’re not staying there, you could just sit for a coffee, a drink or some lunch. Treat yourselves like royalties… you probably deserve it ! 👑
