One of the best yam rice in 大山脚 they have very long queue, but they serve you very quickly. I can taste the chunks of yam in the rice, very yummy. They are served together with 猪脚 and pork soup (I love it with slight sour taste in it)! They also have good service, by refilling your soup.

All time favourite. A bit of driving from Penang Island for lunch, but it is so worth the trip. The yam rice is the popular option, also the jawa mee also the tart .... Pretty much everything in the shop are worth going for. Wish my tummy is bigger than my eyes. Also the coffee kopi is good too. In my review not many restaurants are good in both drink and food. Well done 👍 to this place.

Nice place to get a fix of Yam Rice. And don't forget to try the delicious Portuguese Egg Tarts from Sandoza, you'll definitely love it! Slightly hard to find parking but you may park inside the park and walk some distance to get to the shop. If you really want to give it a try be prepared to wait a little bit because normally it's quite crowded. During peak hours, a small wait is expected.

To be honest I was underwhelmed by the food taste here. It came highly recommended from word of mouth. Somehow either it didn't live up to the hype or it ran against my taste preference The place is tightly packed. Stalls are bunched together and tables quite tightly packed. That's not the issue I have with it. I have been to even more packed environment. The food was average at best. The yam rice soup was generous with the ingredients. That I must give them credit. But the soup was too watery for my taste. It's salty enough but the sourness just lacks the kick I expect. But the offals are fresh and thoroughly enjoyable. The curry chee cheong fun had a light aromatic curry but the amount is just too kiam siap. I only had enough for a proper taste for a third of the CCF. Otherwise you end up eating CCF which was bland due to lack of curry. Jawa mee also didn't have enough taste to make you want to come again. Very lightly flavoured and not enough to entice me to come for a repeat plate. The half boiled egg, the roti canai was average and nothing to shout about and the drinks were just ok in my opinion. Having said that, many people like it and you can see the place filing up with patrons early. So, no harm to come try to see if it's your cup of tea.

Massive kopitiam with great variety of local Hokkien stalls and their famous yam rice. Pan mee is decent and soup that comes with the yam rice is rejuvenating and wholesome; yam rice is alright, jawa mee is not so great. Busy during brunch and lunch, with ample parking at the park just behind the shop.

Come here to try their famous Yam Rice very delicious, I like the yam rice because got yam. Portuguese Tart also taste good, very crispy. Price is reasonable. Hard to find seat and parking here because have many people, very crowded especially peak hours. If really want to come better choose weekday.

This food court has many stalls and there is something for everyone. The food is generally good albeit either a bit pricey or smaller portion for the same price elsewhere. The drinks have to be ordered at the back for them to be delivered to your table. I find that a bit counter-productive and not a good experience. The standard drinks here like coffee and tea are also 20% more expensive than market prices. There is also a bakery called Sandoza within this business. The siew pow and tarts are good.

There are many food stalls here and a lot of people. Drinks have to self service order and there is a small bakery inside the shop. All of the food ordered showed in pictures taste not bad.

Personally feel the yam rice tasted bland, lack of yam fragrance, but the pickled veggie soup was nice, the dipping sauce given was bomb. Overall, it is a decent food but overrated a little bit if you were to say it is the best yam rice. 3 pax meal cost us RM28.50. My personal view, the pasembur and the jawa mee is definitely more worth to try for. Do get yourself siew bao, egg tart or other pastry from the Sandoza stall in the same kopitiam, all the pastries are delicious. The siew bao filling was perfectly seasoned, tasty but not jelat(greasy). The outer skin still crunchy enough after many hours. It taste delicious even without reheating. My father likes the coconut tart, strong natural coconut fragrant, well seasoned, not too sweet.

Do come here for yam rice, jawa mee, pasembur, wantan mee, roti canai, tarts, bread, and loh bak.. other than those, try at your own risk :) but actually most of the stalls here sell decent food around the area (no the curry mee though, not really nice). Won’t go wrong if you’re in BM and want some good breakfast.

If I can give this place a 10STARS I would! A definite MUST VISIT if you are in Bukit Mertajam. The BM Yam rice is to die for. It's a pit stop for me before heading home when I arrived in Penang and also a pit stop for lunch before heading out of Penang. The Chee Cheong Fun, the Jawa mee, Chicken rice are all my favourite food in this place. Absolutely love this place!

All time best hawker center! It has the legendary yam rice (best in town by my standard), curry mee and mee jawa is quite good too. At night the corner store sells "Winner's Fried Chicken" which is better then most fried chicken i've tasted.

Never go wrong with their food. They have variety of option, noodles rice and snacks pastry in one place. The egg tart always my choice. We ordered wonton noodle and curry noodles. Both taste OK. Simple yet filling. But they are not the best.. So I only give 4 stars.

We drop by this place on our way back from St. Anne's church. Parking was quite limited near the food court. Food choices are good, with their egg tart and yam rice as notable tasty highlight. The mixed pork soup that accompany the yam rice was tasty, plus we got free soup refill by the kind stall operator

In my opinion, after tried all yam rice in BM area, I think currently this is the most satisfied yan rice in BM, although sometimes need wait a little bit longer time. But it's worth it 👍 Other than yam rice, the pasembor (青鱼) at this food court also very nice, because I love to mix with yam rice to eat 😋 Another mix and match recipes 🤭 Lastly, Portuguese egg tart at here also very nice 👍 Statisfied 💯

Yam rice full of yam fragrance and tasty. The pork soup is actually with salted Vegi. No "porky" taste if you know what I mean. Braised dark egg also taste better. A good meal. There are a lot of other choices of local foods as well but have no luxury to taste all. Recommended.

Portuguese tart is so so nice (only remember to take pic after finished the whole thing). Egg tart is not the flaky texture type but still very nice. Prawn noodles is just so so.

Still our favourite Yam Rice pick at Bukit Mertajam for arM10/pax😊 A bit of a challenge to get parking (street parking around the kopitiam area) and to get a table, you need patience and be humble, we usually spot tables that are nearly done (and wait at the side politely, don't go rushing the other people ok☺️) but it's all worth it for us😁 Each time we drop by at different timings (eg:10.00am / 12.00pm/ 1.00pm), it will still be full and packed of people. Once you place your order at the stall (located on the side near the side road), your orders are usually served quite fast (at least the many times when we were there 😊)

no regret to drop by this kopitiam 👍🏽 must try their yam rice, pasembor, chai kuih and their kopi ✅ Taste : yam rice must try 4.5/5 -- pasembor 4.5/5 (personally likes their peanut sprinkle around the pasembor and the sauce too) -- chai kuih 4/5 -- chee cheong fun 2/5 (personally dont like the sauce) -- drink must try their cham ice Parking : plenty of parking around that kopitiam but not very sure is illegal or what but it is nearby the taman area Payment : cash and e-wallet (most of the stall accept e-wallet) ✅ Environment : plenty of seat and not very hot too

Sentosa Corner is a crowded hawker stall in Bukit Mertajam area. There are many Sentosa Restaurant in that area, so dont get confused. Most of the people will try the yam rice with sour pork soup, i think the taste is ok but rice have little yam and the meat a bit blunt. The Portuguese egg tart is just ok too, sweet and not too crunchy. Among all, curry chu cheong fun has the best taste, spicy and come with sweet chili sauce.

  • 5/5 Boey 1 year ago on Google
Famous in BM. Recommended to try. A small comparison between the Sentosa and BM Yam Rice Shop: 🍲 Soup: Sentosa is more sour, BM is more salty. 🥩 Pork: Sentosa meat is better. It is softer and tender. BM meatball is better. It is springy. 🌶️ Chilli: Both are delicious but Sentosa is slightly better. 🍚 Yam rice: BM is more fragrant. It is really good. 💰 Value for money: Sentosa portion is bigger and cheaper.

[ok la] 1) overall - Chinese hawker food, plenty of seating but limited parking, okay cleanliness, ok service, food selection are chee cheong fun, yam/taro rice with pork soup, egg tart, pastries, Ee jawa, pasembur, and many more Sentosa Corner (Food Court) 2) egg tart - tasted okay, hard tart, okay egg custard 3) chee cheong fun - special mixture of sweet and curry sauce, tasted above average, loved the added fried onion, recommended 4) yam rice with pork soup - overrated, tasted okay, very limited yam pieces

The yam rice is sooo damn good with yam that can be seen in the rice. The portion is RM7 per person. The uncle selling yam rice is damn friendly. Although there are many people ordering, but their workers are so fast in action. Love it with the good service and taste.

  • 4/5 Esther C. 1 year ago on Google
The yam rice is good taste. Compared to last 3 years, the quantity of yam reduced. Maybe it also affected the taste of yam rice now.

Wonderful place for breakfast and egg tarts. Quite a few choices and things to try out. Usually there's a crowd and today was no different. With the covid situation and limited seating, there was a queue for empty tables but the uncle acting as concierge was very friendly, considerate and courteous. We were lucky to get a table quite fast but your mileage may vary.
