It is the biggest lake of Pakistan ,but due to lack of interest of the previous governments in tourism, there is no designated picnic site at manchar lake, so you have to carry picnic stuff by yourself from home. But overall its an amazing place to visit, with all the natural beauty u can imagine . Its like a mini sea but with fresh water .

Undoubtedly the biggest freshwater body in Pakistan, but due to total lack of any tourism development at any place in sindh, Manchar is also suffering. But there were local setups of Dhaaba like restaurants, which provided tea and refreshment and for families there were rooms along with washroom available. Boating is must as you cannot assess the beauty and immensity of Manchar from just standing at its shore!!

The very famous lake. But nothing is there to enjoy. Even no any fish shop to serve you. Just a very large lake you will find . Can enjoy it from it's bank. Government should make resorts, markets, guest houses and other enjoyable placces.

I heard that a lot 9f fisherman used to live there . . But now a little have left . . Reason being decreasing fish count due to addition of drainage water in fresh water lake . . If govt. provides some facilities for tourist then it is a good place for ocassional picnic

At Manchar Lake I took an excursion to visit a small floating village of about 50 boats and 600 people. It was interesting but they certainly did a good job of asking for money at any opportunity. Very picturesque.

Water from Larkana rice canal which contains very high proportions of silt and salts is falling into this lake since 1970's, water is contaminated and not suited for human consumption and underwater life is endangered too, need to work on routing the silt water out directly into sea through Indus river so this lake and habitat can survive.

Editing review April 2019. Located off the Indus highway or N55. Visited a few times in life. One detailed visit was before 1990. It was pre interference time. It was a 6 star place rendered to a 1 star one now, because of drainage of RBOD into it. From one of the the largest natural, fresh water sources in Asia; it has been reduced to the largest apparently clean looking gutter!! A plethora of pollutants & industrial waste.. Arsenic (سنکھیا) level is alarmingly high! Tourists now do not choose the deserted lake, nor do the Siberian (or even local) birds! Fishing was a huge local industry here. But now, gone are the fish & hence fishermen.. Whole villages all around the lake, had to move & start baggery in cities; as unclean & poisonous water stopped giving fish, birds, happy tourists & healthy agriculture; and started giving diseases, strange skin ailments etc. #LakeSindhPakistan #FishingLake #BirdWatching #TouristAttraction #BoatingLake #FamilyFriendly #GoodForGroups #BeautifulViews #LimitedWheelchairAccessiblility

The lake supports thousands of fisherfolk, who depend on the freshwater fish in the lake. The lake since construction of the Main Nara Valley Drain in 1921 has undergone environmental degradation with inflow of sewage.Consequently, the water quality of the lake has been degraded.

Its was a really good experience.Never ever seen such a big lake. Fresh clean and cool water. Enjoyed fishing and baoting. Just like most of the other places it is a neglected area by government. Effort to development is needed which can make it a really fantastic picnic spot.

Lake Manchar is located at a distance of 18 kilometers from Sehwan Sharif on west side of the River Indus, in district Dadu, Sindh. It is the largest shallow and fresh water lake of Pakistan and one of the biggest of Asia. Water in the lake is collected by small water streams in Kirthar Mountains and empties into River Indus. The total area of lake varies between 350 square kilometers to 520 square kilometers with seasons. The lake was constructed in 1930 when Sukhar Barrage was constructed on River Indus. In 1932, flood bunds were constructed on its north-eastern and northern boundaries. Actually a natural source of fresh water of this kind is a main resource of water in an arid region.
