I
admit
to
being
one
of
those
people
who
reads
reviews
to
help
me
decide
whether
to
use
someone’s
services,
but
almost
never
leave
my
own.
I
thus
have
to
be
extraordinarily
impressed
or
disappointed
to
be
moved
to
write
one.
While
close
to
excellent
hiking
possibilities,
Arpasu
de
Jos
is
in
no
way
a
tourist
town
with
extensive
services,
which
is
why
I’m
dismayed
by
negative
reviewers
of
this
inn
comparing
their
services
to
those
designed
for
more
occupancy
and
providing
more
restaurant
options
in
larger,
touristy
areas.
Pensiune
Suzy
&
Roxy
is
a
seven-room
cazare,
which
supplements
its
income
mainly
by
providing
homemade
pizza
for
delivery
and
a
modest
dining
option
on-site.
They
are
not
and
do
not
market
themselves
as
a
restaurant,
though
there
is
a
set
clientele
which
regularly
dines
there.
As
the
nearest
decent
restaurants
are
in
Viktoria,
a
13
minute
drive
away,
what
the
pension
offers
is
reasonably
priced
for
the
quantity
and
quite
tasty.
Given
what’s
locally
available,
or
not,
their
service
and
food
offerings
are
to
be
praised,
not
critically
compared
to
restaurants
in,
say,
Sibiu,
some
48km
away.
Their
rooms
for
rent
are
based
on
the
concept
of
offering
a
welcoming
home-away-from-home
atmosphere.
They
are
not
trying
to
compete
with
tourist
hotels
and
the
accommodations
are
more
than
satisfactory
and
comfortable.
On
booking
sites,
they
adequately
describe
the
rooms
for
rent
and
provide
accurate
photos
of
what
you
get
for
your
payment.
Their
prices
are
more
than
competitive
when
comparing
their
rooms
to
other
local
accommodations.
Traveling
through
Romania
for
a
month,
i
originally
chose
this
inn
based
on
the
price
and
reading
the
reviews
selectively.
I
had
intended
to
stay
only
one
night,
when
i
ran
into
two
Germans
from
an
NGO
who
were
staying
at
the
hotel
and
visiting
a
local,
privately
run
dog
shelter
in
nearby
Feldiora.
And
while
I
had
never
done
so
before,
I
decided
to
volunteer
at
this
shelter
for
the
three
week
balance
of
my
vacation.
The
inn’s
owner
not
only
made
a
room
available
for
me
for
the
three
weeks,
but
—-
as
a
way
of
showing
his
support
for
the
shelter
by
helping
me
work
there
—-
offered
services
to
make
my
stay
problem-free
and
comfortable
at
expense
to
his
business
(I
don’t
provide
details
to
avoid
his
being
taken
advantage
of
in
the
future).
He
and
his
family
have
been
there
for
me
when
needed
and
gave
me
my
space
after
difficult
days
working
in
the
kennel,
for
which
I
am
eternally
grateful.
It
is
very
clear
that
their
attitude
is
to
make
a
guest
feel
as
if
they’re
a
part
of
the
family,
if
that
is
what
is
wanted
and
to
provide
equal
and
efficient
service
to
everyone,
regardless
of
whether
they
wish
to
be
sociable
or
be
left
in
peace.
If
your
goal
is
to
be
among
the
locals
and
experience
how
people
actually
live,
even
though
this
is
also
a
business,
then
this
homestay,
as
I
would
call
it,
would
be
ideal.
Those
looking
for
something
to
criticize
to
make
themselves
feel
happier
probably
won’t
be
satisfied
staying
here,
but
that’s
of
their
own
creation,
not
caused
by
the
actions
or
services
provided
by
the
hosts.
