Went to the Heart of Darkness, ended up getting a table at the Cellar Wine Bistro (they must have a partnership or something of that nature). The food is amazing, there is no way around it, if you like meat (especially red meat), go for it! We had, as pictured, the pork ribs, some wings and the vegetarian tacos. Everything is super tasteful and the pork, incredible! On top of this we got a wine bottle from the Cellar Wine, the combination of both the wine and the meat made for an excellent night! Music is not too loud, service is great and value for money great!

Heart of darkness is one of our favourite beers, so we knew that we would like it here in the taproom. The staff are super nice and there is lots of choice for beers. Compared to other taprooms locally, the prices are very reasonable. We didn't eat, but other people around us did and the food looked good. Depending which day it is, there are different offers for food - so check out the website before you come. *Edit* we came back and had lunch. It was BOGOF burgers on a Monday. It was good

First time in Vietnam/Saigon (HCMC) and if you think visiting the War museum will leave lasting memories, then you need to visit this place. After working my way through the menu, I was building up to the Eloquent Phantom Imperial Stout at 11%. , but the stout before, the Black Shadows Espresso Martini Nitro Stout took my breath away and taste buds to a whole new level. At 6.6% this is a beer drinkers dream and being a beer drinker for 45+ years I can honestly say this is the best drop if ever had the pleasure of drinking. Put this place and the Black Shadows on your bucket list

This brewery is a really nice place in the middle of the town. they have a variety of nice beers you can select from. The food menu has a lot of good food you can try. The portions are pretty big. Chill place to hangout with some friends.

Superb tacos & perfect onion rings. Great service with a really pleasant atmosphere. I recently returned & the burger was 10/10 as were the fresh oysters.

Coming from Singapore, I had to come to Heart Of Darkness to try their menu at its original source. Craft Beers at its best!!! Personally I enjoyed the craft beers in Heart of Darkness Singapore. I learned only of Heart of Darkness Saigon when a few of my beers ran out and the Singapore staff shared that they ran out and waiting for Saigon to deliver the beers. Here in Saigon, the beers are consistent with the ones in Singapore and of course the ones in Singapore are the same because they are imported from Saigon. Even their limited edition range is shared in both countries. Had the opportunity to try the Ghost Stout here in Saigon where I got a take away bottle. The usual personal favourite like the Excited Magpie Irish Stout tastes exactly the same in both countries. Same goes with the multi award winner - Dream Alone Pale Ale and the Futile Purpose Cucumber Pilsner. The huge difference here in Saigon is that the food menu is extensive and quality is a lot better than in Singapore. Some dishes are the same but quality and quantity of each items is vastly different. In both countries, I ordered the sharing platter and the quality of the pulled pork was similar. The Ribs were a lot more tender and juicy here in Saigon. The taste here is a bit more refined where as in Singapore, the same type ribs were found lacking in taste, texture, size and visual. The menu include a full range of different salads which was missing unless I totally overlooked them from the menu in Singapore. Salads were huge, fresh and crisp - good fresh ingredients were definitely used and prepared with. Had the Greek Salad and Caesars Another plus is that they actually got nice condiments to go with the platter. I noted a hot sauce was also “Heart of Darkness” labeled. Spicy unique and goes extremely well with the ribs and pulled pork. Here in Saigon, I had the opportunity to try its tacos amongst the “extended menu” and it’s a beautiful surprise! Great with beers!! The pricing in Saigon is pleasantly fair with beers prices nearly half of that in Singapore which is understandably so, due to the various taxes to alcohol. Ambience at Heart of Darkness Saigon was great, good crowds and place was clean. An outdoor sitting area and also indoors with tables and areas by the bar. Its staff at Heart of Darkness Saigon were attentive and efficient. They are conversant in English which is perfect. This attribute can be same if the same for the staff in Singapore! Great people and knowledgeable in the types of beers in its menu. Will visit again in both countries!!

Staff is good at english. You can say this is the best brewery in vietnam. Good atmosphere, you can be chilling over here. Price of food a little bit expensive; but not beer. You can have a craft beer as pint size just 7-8$

Superb craft beer place with good-quality drinks. We tried the onion rings, not much expectations but were pleasantly surprised :) There's plenty of seats outdoors in an open-air space, for those who want to enjoy live music. There's a seating area inside next to the bar, and on the second floor with a balcony as well. Another big plus is that the staff were super cute and friendly, several of them thought we were foreigner and started speaking English to us haha

Wonderful pub, good music, micro brewery outlet with delicious food and a friendly atmosphere. A warm welcome from Max and prompt service was perfect, the food was quick which was great and his approach and style made the atmosphere congenial, and so very helpful with local insight and intel. We had the Cesar Salad which was substantial, the truffle fries are very tasty. The Quietest Creature lemongrass whit was so smooth and the zest wasn't overpowering, just refreshingly good, a dangerous beer with it's palatability. TROPICAL Bia, mango and Passion fruit was nice, obviously fruity for a lager but in a subtle way. I also tried the Yuzu cider from Japan and as a cider drinker, that was interesting. Topped off with the Kurtz's Insane IPA at 7%, definitely not a session IPA!! But we'll worth trying.

A must visit if a brewery is on your list. Great brews, delicious Western style food menu, friendly staff and great vibe. PS: The chimichurri style oysters were amazing!

Nice watering hole with craft beer. Ordered a flight of 6 based on recommendation. Drink in order and BiA was the Standout. Strip loin was well done, oops medium I mean. Truffle fries was da bomb. Will definitely visit again when I'm back in Saigon.

There are many. There is only one Heart of Darkness craft beer brewery. Consistent outstanding quality of beers. And always some new ones to discover. Friendly staff. Boomer friendly music. And great food also. Get going and go there. The best.

It is a really good place to enjoy great beer and food with friends and family. Pets are totally welcomed sitting outside or even inside. Food selection is superb, and the taste and choices are simply brilliant. Even though I couldn't try much of their beer selection, I'm sure it's really good since most of the other customers here were there for the beer selection and food. Very nice ambiance. Best IPA’s in Vietnam. A true Mecca of craft beer here with over 15 taps pouring and many more guests on the menu. Good food and multiple seating options. Beer garden, wine bar upstairs or casual dining/bar. We had a beer flight which showcased 6 of their beers for 300.000 VND

Really enjoyed the Heart of Darkness Craft Beer Brew Pub for lunch or dinner. Tropical Bia has been my favorite. All the beer options are great to try and the food options are good. Burger Monday is a great deal. Portions are pretty large so come hungry. Price is reasonable for what you get. Make reservations if you are coming on weekend.

High quality steak. I'm in Saigon on business for a few weeks, and this place was highly recommended. Had their Sunday Tomahawk special, which is 1 kg/2.2 lbs of bone-in ribeye, and costs 1 mill VND (at the time of this review, and regular price is 1.8 mill VND). The description said they used Australian beef. Not quite a tomahawk, as it is more of a bone-in ribeye. Steak came pre-cut, which is fine, and makes it a nicer sharing plate as well. I ordered medium rare, and it came exactly as described, and as expected, a little more rare on the bone. I am a picky judge of steak, as my diet is mostly just meat, and I cook rib-eyes quite regularly myself. For example, I have/can eat 40oz boneless rib-eye to myself (2.5 lbs). Beef quality matters a lot, and my fellow coworker (who also ordered the same tomahawk special (well done though...), and who was not happy with the quality of meat in general in Saigon, was very impressed. Whoever is responsible for selecting and purchasing the meat used, and the chef for their excellent cooking skills, deserve major props. Also, good craft beer choices. I know where I'll be next Sunday, though this time, I'll ask to have them trim/remove the bone first (which is part of it's total weight, and varies).

This brewery is located in a very nice area as there are other bars and an additional brewery in the area. There is a very nice variety of beer available, and food as well. The onion rings were pretty bad as they lacked any flavor. The Bao was actually good. The pricing was pretty fair.

Great vibes and the beer selection was over the top, 20 pulls! Staff was friendly and gave out tasters generously. We have been to all the breweries in the area and Heart of Darkness is our favorite.

Amazing local brewery with a wide selection of classic and special beers paired with delicious food. If you're in the area - it's a must to visit. If you're not around - try to find Heart of Darkness in other bars. P.S.: hope to see HoD beers in Taiwan soon!

There are some excellent craft beer companies in Ho Chi Minh City. Their rise in popularity over the last few years has been impressive. Heart of Darkness is one of the absolute best. Excellent beers, great staff and a management that genuinely cares about its clientele.

Visited this place few times over the last 4 years and still loving it. Balanced and subtle beers that are both experimental enough to not be boring but at the same time mature and subtle enough to still stay beer, paired with delicious food and attentive notch service. Note it can be fully packed sometime. I think this is the great place overall and visit it every time I'm in Saigon.

Cozy bar with an original theme, fantastic craft beers (specially the imperial stout) and friendly staff. Food is nothing exceptional. Sometimes they have live music. The burger was really disappointing- the bread was soggy and the meat was not as flavorful. I wouldn't come here for dinner again but I will definitely come back for another beer!

An absolutely amazing place, huge choice of beers, snacks and meals. Incredible staff and a shout out to Max for managing the crowds and keeping a personal service level above all. The only thing missing is a bottle of Jack Daniel’s behind the bar to complement their beers and end the night with the perfect nightcap! 🍺🥃

It has the vibe of American beer place which explains why it’s more popular among expats rather than locals. We had the best meals with meat, the nuts salad was a bit disappointing though. Overall the food is fatty and reminds me of fast food but with higher quality. Highly recommend the fatty burger and fries with pulled pork if you’re in for a treat. I like that their craft beer comes in varying sizes, allowing you to try different flavors!

Great bar serving excellent Vietnamese beer with a very friendly staff! I had to stop here during my trip in Ho Chi Minh as I tried their beer in the past (outside of Vietnam) and it was delicious. Here we picked the 2 first beers on their main list (they have over 20 choices of tap beers!) which were Darkness Kurtz's IPA and Dream Alone Pale Ale. The IPA has a strong flavor as expected and is nice to drink. The Pale Ale was smoother but still a very nice beer rich in flavors. We tried their beef brisket and cheese macaroni dish, the size was huge for a very reasonable price! So we drank well and ate well. I totally recommend this place for a quality food, drink and moment with your friend or even alone.

Didn’t have the food, but looks really good and they have pretty good deals during their promotion time. The beers were excellent. The atmosphere was what really hooked me. Very chill bar where you can enjoy a nice beer and have a conversation without having to scream over the music. Staff was also very nice and knowledgeable about their craft. Don’t need to speak Vietnamese to ask for more info on the beers. Mind you I came here on a Monday afternoon but loved it. Definitely marked down as my go to spot to have a beer when I come back.

We had a beer flight of 6 brews and enjoyed them. We also ordered their pork rib tacos, brisket chili cheese fries and onion rings. Loved the tacos especially!

The service is really great. We have a large choice of beer and their prices are correct. I also like the atmosphere there, it's a pretty place! Some comments on dishes: fries are a little hard and not super hot (they are not new? they are not defrosted well?). To my taste, the dish we took has too much sauce (burger sauce?) on top. Otherwise, if you are looking for a place to have a drink with friends and have a snack, this will be an ideal place.

In my opinion, they have the best selection of craft beer in Saigon. Especially if your are an IPA lover like me. I would recommend their New England IPA, it checks all the boxes. Great service as well and the tacos were delicious. Overall, it’s was a great experience and I hope to come back soon!

Excellent craft beers available here. I would recommend the tasters highly - 6 small beers for 300k VND (around 20 AUD) or 4 for 200k. While pints are also available, I like the variety and being able to try different types. There was a LOT to choose from. If you are not a big drinker, start with 4, or even just one or two. They are priced at 50k (VND) individually, so there's no advantage to buying 4 or 6 at once, though it is presented very nicely on a paddle. For the price, I was expecting quite small glasses, maybe 100mL or so. They were larger, possibly as much as 175-200 mL. Excellent bar snacks. The staff were friendly, and spoke English well and clearly. There was a service charge, around 40k VND (3 AUD) - well worth it given the great service and food.

I love this place! There are various of craft beers and foods. You can sit both in and outside. Staffs are very friendly and kind. But it is a bit expansive compared with other similar bars nearby. Price is tax exclusive.

It's cozy. The front is decorated with a mix of asian style and western style. Soft rock music is playing all the time, which i found really fits. Beers are good, so is the potatoes. A bit pricey, but i think its worth to visit maybe once or two a month.

Beer bar with a cool vibe. They have a small liquor/ cocktails menu and a decent wine list (both by the glass and bottle). You can order a flight of 6 beers to taste if you're unsure of what to go for! Definitely a spot for foreigners and to try good beers! They've got free WiFi too :)

Lovely bar, suited to westerns / people wanting American food! Decent beers (obviously costing more than local ones) but the wings / fries / steak were good. Staff are friendly here and dealt with awkward (drunken) customers well!

Amazing! I’m not a beer drinker but I tried their beers taste amazing. Their beers are very smooth and they have many selections. Many beers also won award champion craft beers. My favorite one are Irish stout and then second would be sakura ipa. We went back there for second time within that day :)

Great beer and food. Perfect variety of different craft beers ti suit anyones taste. Only reason for a mid range review, just felt it was a little expensive for what it was 2 x standard beers and taco $430k. Cheaper then Australia by expensive in Viet terms.

Fancy very American dining and bar vibes. Waiting staff were attentive , restrooms were clean. Did not try the food but beers were pretty decent. Price wise, it may be steeper then your local Viet joint selling local beers. Would visit again !

Great selection of delicious craft beers. Prices of beer are ok for the quality. Food is good but way way overpriced (comparable to Paris or London). I recommend to come for one or two pints and move on to another place for dinner.

love craft breweries! these guys have a larrrge selection of beers to choose from! it can get overwhelming on which to try first! food is decent here - not the greatest, but will suffice for a pairing with the beer hehe they usually keep a tab of how many beers each person has, so its easier to split bills. but in saying that, their eftpos machine tends to not work quite often... so if ur wanting quick and easy transactions to end ur day make sure u carry around cash! they have live bands on weekends usually - set up is outside.. can create a cramped feeling, and they tend to be a taaaad too loud as it drowns out the conversation, you end up shouting at each other.

This is the second time I've returned to Heart of Darkness and I'm still very impressed with the service, from the parking attendant to the bar staff, very friendly and always assisting me when I have a request. The food is still very delicious, flavorful, and delicious. One thing to note is that the menu clearly shows that the price does not include service tax and VAT. I feel this is very normal because I see this as a small bonus for you. I will come back many more times.

Our plane was delayed so we traveled back to District 1 to enjoy a last meal. Having been in Vietnam over a week we really wanted something different. This place met all of our needs. A flight of yummy beers and brisket with Mac n cheese. Wings, chilli fries and the best of all, the tacos! If we weren’t so full we would have ordered more. Nothing to complain about here. We are very happy and very full. Heading back the airport to sleep our flight away back to Melbourne.

I was introduced to the restaurant by a friend on Thursday because there were 1-for-1 cocktails. I was quite surprised because it was a craft beer bar and the cocktails were very delicious and special. Cute and enthusiastic staff. It's a shame I couldn't drink too much beer but I will come next time to enjoy more beer here.
