The museum should be interesting but the lack of available information of you don’t take a guided tours makes it hard to appreciate. Also the opening hours and rules are not clear in advance nor well posted. The main house closes for lunch, so even though they’ll sell you tickets until 12:30 they start chasing you out at 12:45. We presented at the ticket counter with a baby and small stroller and rhe very friendly ticket girl offered to open the doors to make it easier for us. However once inside the house the guards hassled is about the stroller and said we couldn’t bring it through the galleries, claiming it would damage the floors… however nothing was posted anywhere forbidding strollers and all the floors had been replaced. I doubt they would refuse women wearing high heels to enter? That would be far more damaging… so we carried her though all the rooms snd left the stroller by the elevator. Worse, on the next level the other guard tried to say we couldn’t even leave the stroller by the elevator! So with so little time inside, we spent half of it in discussion with the guards who then chased us out anyway. All in all, a very unpleasant experience. Very disappointing since I have studied Renoir my whole life and wanted to share this special artist with my daughter.

During our first holiday on the Côte d'Azur, my wife and I definitely wanted to see Renoir's house and its history. Above the estate, a very nicely decorated house and a beautifully presented life of the artist himself, impressed us. Which I could not stop observing and photographing.

Small but beautiful little museum dedicated to Renoir. Wonderful to see his actual studio and chair where he worked. The gardens are well kept and would be a lovely place to spend an afternoon with family.

Beautiful mansion and the olive grove garden…. You will also see quite a few of his art works on loan from Musée d’Orsay. Though it seems that artist enjoyed living here, it is a little bit sad to imagine how he suffered his last years … I didn’t know that Renoir’s hands’ condition was so severe, but he continued to work …

Beautiful, peaceful villa and Renoir's museum. Short film by son Jean Renoir and the villa itself with 14 small paintings, his wheelchair and painting tools as well as some furnishings. The grounds were beautiful and quiet. A bit of a trek to find it.

Very impressed by the museum. First of all you can buy a combined ticket for the museum and the Grimaldi castle for 8 euros / per. Then I do recommend taking an excursion in the museum for another 3 euros per person. It’s a 1.5 hours guided tour. I’m amazed by the quality and inspiration of the guide. I could deep into the story of the Renoir art and his family. There is also a nice shop with some materials in English and other languages. Very good 2 hours of visiting this place. So glad to see the masterpieces of a true genius.

Less than 20 minutes from Nice (closer to 15 in fact) this was the last home of Renoir before passing away. The small estate is beautiful and well kept, typical of a Provencal French property. It is nice to visit a turn of the 20th century home as well as a number of Renoir's paintings as well as his sculptor collaborator Richard Guino. Unfortunately there are only a small number of paintings so it is a bit limiting...but still a worth while visit for fans of Renoir. In the basement of his home, a short film plays recording the recollections of Richard Guino and Renoir's young nude model at the time. It was a very interesting snap shot into his history.

This year the Renoir Museum is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of August Renoir (1841-1919). The artist settled down in the Domaine des Collettes in Cagnes-sur-Mer with his wife Aline and their three sons. The house he had build has a wonderful large studio facing the garden. The collection on display has 14 original paintings and 30 sculpture. After the renovation works in 2013, new areas were open to the visitors and 17 plaster sculptures presented by the Renoir and Guini families, as well as two original paintings were added to display along with personal papers. Exceptional Art Experience, just not that they are closed at noon between 12pm and 2pm.

This place has definitely some energy from the big artist Renoir. You feel the quietness and inspiration he had at this place. The olive trees are so old and it’s amazing to realize that the same trees you see was seeing by the greatest Renoir. I fell in love with the house and property. You should not expect Louvre with its painting’s gallery. It’s more about the house and around it. The market garden is very cute!

Small but great little adventure. You can actually see Renoir's home and some of his original paintings. The lady at the front gave the kids an interactive tablet that kept the kids entertained at the museum. Don't forget to stroll through the gardens.

(Translated by Google) Today, exactly 100 years ago, the great Impressionist painter Auguste Renoir died in this house that had been built in Cagnes-sur-Mer. Now converted into a museum, it largely preserves the furniture and some of the works he painted there in the last years of his life affected by osteoarthritis. And it also preserves a magnificent garden with sculptures and ancient olive trees that he painted and that still last both in art and in life. Jean Renoir, the painter's son and renowned filmmaker, is the one who has most contributed to making the atmosphere of the house known during his childhood and youth. And he even shot some scenes from a 1959 film: "le déjeuner sur l'herbe" What I have remembered today of the ephemeris must also have to do with the feeling of gratitude towards paternal love and it is that today also marks 35 years since the death of my father (Original) Avui fa exactament 100 anys que en aquesta casa que s'havia fet construir a Cagnes-sur-Mer hi va morir el gran pintor impressionista Auguste Renoir.

This alone is worth visiting Cagnes-sur-Mer for, for an art lover. Great museum, well presented. Most likely this is the closest you will ever get to a Renoir painting.

Situated in a quite residential area, Renoir's residence is well proportioned and impressive. Surrounded by mature olive and citrus groves, it's elevation commands great views down to the Mediterranean.

It is not a huge museum. It does have a great sense of time and place. You can picture Renoir sitting, looking and working his magic on canvas. The setting of the museum is spectacular. The garden is beautiful. The view is magnificent. It is easy to understand why Renoir picked this place. While the museum is not packed with paintings, the works present do augment the experience. Kudos to the Musee D'Orsay for lending some works to this small museum. Although Renoir died here, this place is not a place of mourning. It is a celebration of a life well lived. My visit here was well worth it and I am glad I had a chance to walk in his footsteps.

Renoir Museum where he lived has such a nice garden and stunning view. Even though you can not see many of his artworks, it is definitely worth it to visit to feel trace of his life. If you visit in a sunny day, just sitting on the bench in his garden makes you calm. It is located bit far away from nice city Centre but near the museum you can find a huge shopping mall called cap 3000 where you can have some food or do shopping. But don’t expect food quality. They are typical shopping mall restaurants.

Quite disappointing. Having so many great museums around this one is nothing special. I know, there are places that this Renoir mansion would be a marvel. Not in Cote d'azur. There are few Renoir paintings here and a vast garden. The mansion itself is almost empty. I will never think of coming back here again.

A nice museum with few works of art but worth it since you discover where the painter lived and his history. Be careful with the hours on Google, they actually close between 12 and 2pm which is not mentioned on their website. Special fares (free in fact) for people living in Cagnes. Nice garden, nice view. They should provide a paper with g the highlights, you might miss the nice statue in front of the house and some details in the rooms.

A bit of overhyped, only a small portion of his paintings and not many statues, but if you are a fan then prices were low and children under 26 were free so not too much trouble going there at all. Would recommend.

Just absolutely wonderful lieu to visit and enjoy and relax. Bring a picnic lunch and blanket... you can literally sit on the lawn where Renoir did his paintings, and drink-in the beautiful provencal countryside whilst enjoying the particular odors and vegitation of the south of France. This is a jewel.

The museum doesn't offer any booklets, maps, or audio guides. The annotations to the painting or pictures are only in French and also are very short and not extremely informative. The museum is open till 17.45 but the staff asked us to leave the villa at 17.30. However, they let us walk around the garden, thanks for that.

I really enjoyed seeing where Renoir spent his later years. There is a fair collection of some of his paintings, but what intrigued me the most was seeing his living quarters. The pictures of his hands revealed how badly damaged they were from arthritis. It is amazing what he was able to paint in his condition. His main painting studio and his petit studio had the furniture he used when he was alive. It included his wheel chairs and painting easels. There were photos of his guests including Matisse and Cezzanne visitting him at his home. There was the dining table where they all sat in the photos. It felt like his spirit was still in the house. He continued to do what he loved even with a terrible dabilitating condition up until his death. He died in 1919 which was exactly 100 years ago.
