The Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital also known as NNRH, Navy Hospital or Reference Hospital is a well equipped hospital located in Calabar, Cross River State, which is amongst the most hospitable and peaceful state in Nigeria. As it's name implies, the hospital is owned by a branch of the Nigerian Military, the Nigerian Navy to be precise. The standard of service and care here is at its peak. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served to patients in their various rooms or wards. The beddings are changed frequently, the rooms and toilets are cleaned daily, hot water is provided at request, not to mention the twenty four hours uninterrupted power supply. It has experienced and well trained staff who are at your beck and call. Specialist and consultants from almost every field can be found here. As for its equipment; I can tell you that they are state of the art. There's even a garden sitout (The Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ekwe Ibas Garden) for recovery patients to sit with family members. The parking lot is massive and spacious. Finally; cost of treatment here is way cheaper when compared to other hospitals we have. So if you ever need to see a professional doctor, in a good hospital and at an affordable price, then this is the place I'll advice you checkout. Equipped with state of the art medical equipments, NNRH is located in the heart of calabar and very easy to locate. The hospital has highly trained and disciplined medical professionals. The hospital has wheel chair accessible entrance and stairs. There is also wheelchair-accessible parking. The hospital is also equipped with elevators and a Helipad for helicopter to take off and land too... Not to mention uninterrupted electricity.. There slogan is "Trusted hands, touching lives"

Customer service is very poor, they are extremely slow in attending to patients. Got there at about 9:00am,I spent over 3hours just to see a doctor only for him to recommend a scan and on getting to the ultrasound department,they had already closed by 12:noon.. payment procedure is wack, the queue is excessively long as they have just one POS working at one of the payment points. NNRH calabar is now a shadow of its former self…..

Beautiful piece of a Hospital facility. Much needed in Calabar. Serene and clean environment. I believe the Nigerian Navy will maintain this facility and keep upgrading it to meet international best practices.

Presently the best hospital in whole of south south Nigeria with modern medical facilities, located in a very serene environment and easily accessible. I also noticed they have over seven functional ambulances and polite and committed medical stafff and security personnel. I pray the quality here is sustained.

This hospital has a lot of modern facilities. Its great atmosphere makes it patient friendly. Its interior is one of a kind in calabar. Their medical staffs are wonderful.

Touching Lives

Their services is top-notch, I delivered my twins babies through CS there. The nurses are friendly, doctors and surgeons are the best, very clean environment, their rooms are very neat also with not more than 4 patients inside. Seriously, I got value for the money I spent.

Here for extraction of tooth, 5 mins operation. Good enough machines, only issue is the slow pace at cash point and issuance of card. Card and reg... N3500 Scan... N2000 Extraction... N5000 Cavity filling.... 15000

As usual Patients would have to be patient, but I noticed that the A&E department is very responsive. In cases of Emergency they are very ready to provide help ASAP. But for others be patient and you would most definitely be attended to. Also, despite you have rights, there is no need to claim rights or raise voices, one could meet the ushers by the entrance and make your complaints, they are always ready to assist. Finally, the hospital is a military hospital, so don't feel slighted or offended when military personnel are given special attention. It's very normal there.

The environment is neat and beautiful. But their services are very very slow, staff have nonchalant attitude. I went for Antenatal registration at 7am and I was there till 4pm. They attend to patients that speaks their dialect quickly. I'm very disappointed with them because I expected a military hospital to be prompt and smart in their service delivery.

At the Reception , I got prompt directions as to where to go for the service I required. One of the staff took me all the way to the eye clinic. At the eye clinic those who attended to me were largely unprofessional. *One staff was busy fiddling with his phone, watching a movie on it while at the same time trying to input my information on their system and making mistakes the whole time. *Asking unnecessary ridiculous questions about my age. *No ink in their printer and clueless as to how to resolve the situation meanwhile, it turns out they had ink in their store; this is after I had to wait over 30 minutes. *Another staff at the clinic refused to issue a receipt for payment I made because I am not an 'in patient'. Very unsatisfactory service delivery but, where to go???

Need the best medical services? This is the best place to be. The doctors and nurses are experienced and well trained. They are caring, homely and professionals. Well equipped with modern facilities, uninterrupted power supply, everything is so on point. The sereneness of the place is awesome that I doubted if I was in Nigeria. 10 stars ✨
