A huge park along the Bow River and other creeks. So beautiful and wonderful for walking, biking, picnics, fire pits and exploring. Ice caves are quite interesting. Great places to eat at Bow Ranche. Wildlife and bird watching and photography.

I went to this park in the weekend and spend almost 4 hours.Amazing natural beauty with birds and butterflies around. The bridge view is just amazing around 6 to 7 pm.Simpy love it.I would suggest to carry 2,3 water bottles per head if your going during bright sunlight and put full sleeves clothes to toddlers as there are some points where there are lots of mosquitoes.

Fish Creek Park is a provincial park that preserves the valley of Fish Creek in the southern part of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bordered on three sides by the city, and on the west by the territory of the Tsuu T’ina Nation (Sarcee), a First Nation. Much of the park remains in a natural, forested state. Fish Creek flows throughout its length, joining the Bow River on the east side of the park, and there is an artificial lake that offers swimming. With more than 100 kilometres (62 mi) of paved and unpaved trails, the park is a popular area for hiking and biking, as well as for picnicking, swimming, fishing, and observing wildlife. Fish Creek Park is the second largest urban park in Canada after Rouge National Urban Park in the Greater Toronto Area, and followed by Pippy Park in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. It is also one of the largest urban parks in North America, stretching 19 km (12 mi) from east to west. With an area of 13.48 km2 (5.20 sq mi), it is more than three times the size of Vancouver's Stanley Park. Facilities at the park include a visitor centre, an environmental learning centre, picnic shelters, group day-use areas, a restaurant, concession stands, the Sikome Lake Aquatic Centre, a boat launch at the Bow River, and the Mackenzie Meadows Golf Course.

I love to go on walks. I see a variety of flora and fauna. Lots of photos but not very good, but I have fun. I also walk for distance and enjoy the trails. Last weekend the friends of Fish Creek had posted a short but informative walk. I found it relaxing.

Took the bikes here and theres lots of nice trails with some great views. Not too challenging since there's not many big hills. We even saw a deer in the fields which was really nice.

Ah yes. Good ol' Fish Creek Park. This is another Calgary classic. Great for walking, running, biking, bird-watching, fishing, picnicking, etc. It's surprisingly large. It's actually one of the largest urban parks in North America and the second-largest urban park in Canada. And it's the only provincial park in Calgary's city limits. Just one more reason why Calgary is the most livable city. Ever.

I have visited the Fish Creek Provincial Park three times in a month time; nevertheless, I have not yet explored it completely, for it is the second largest urban protected natural area in Canada that sprawls in an area of over 13.4 square kms. The enormous park provides picturesque natural scenes of forest area, grassy lands, lots of hills of various heights, creek, ponds, lakes, and over hundred trails and roads. I have yet to explore the southern side of the enormous park where Sikome Lake is situated. I intend to visit the park again to see some wild animals, birds, and the lake, soon. The park has more than 100 km paths of paved and unpaved trails as well as plenty of beaten paths for activities such as walking, jogging, running, cycling, ascending and descending hills, and capturing natural scenes of wildlife's flora and fauna. The creek that gives an impression of a mighty, long river is a prepossessing part of the park. There are some benches to relax and tables to enjoy picnic with your family and/or friends at several places and near the creek. Also, there are clean washrooms at different places in the park and along the creek. Today, for the fourth time, I visited the park. I went to the Sikome Lake which was way more beautiful and bigger than I had thought after seeing some of the pictures. Although there is an entry fee and a weekday, there were hundreds of people on a Wednesday evening. Had I not gone to the lake, I wouldn't have been able to see the extremely beautiful part of the park. Anyone visiting Calgary must add this park in their things to do in the beautiful city.

I always love coming to Fish Creek Park. So beautiful and peaceful. I wish we had more warm months so I could spend more time here. Little treasures of nature everywhere. The park where you can become a Disney Princess (look through the pictures to know what I mean by that) Peace and quiet and a great place for a birthday lunch with your kids.

I’ve been going here for 16 years and know every path, trail and viewpoint by heart. This is a very good place to come to with your family, friends or just yourself. The west side has some amazing views of the mountains and the sunset.

The 2 sides of Fish Creek Park provide completely different experiences. The West side is a lovely, wooded area filled with paths through the evergreens. While the East side presents you with vast fields of majestic grassland. Both sides give you Fish Creek to walk along where you'll see all kinds of weird birds. Do yourself a favour and check it out.

We saw lots of geese and ducks the beautiful sunny day that we went. The trails aren't too badly shaded which keeps the icy patches to a minimum. There's a posted sign that said coyotes in area but I've not personally seen them.

Especially in the rain this creek is fresh, and beautiful. Came in via the Mcinnis and Holloway access and parked 6am, virtually deserted. Brought an umbrella but didnt need till walking back from out of tree cover. Wildlife was highly active this time of day, and almost no residential noise. That left me with a walk with birds, ducks, deer and the water's edge ripples. Expect to get wet from grass and brush, and muddy if you go on along the river like I did. It's probably unsafe, to be so close and the mud feels scary as you sink in- but how else to wash away the city from your sole?

Just a dry hole right now as of April 2022. Not sure if or when their going to fill with water because all the health problems. For now, it's great for riding the trails, paths and roads behind the beach concessions. You can't actually ride the paths inside the beach area. Lots of people in parking area coming from Shaunessy and parking lot can be busy when it's nice weather even though the watering hole is closed now. The beach is closed and only trails and parking lots around fenced beach are open today.

Spending evening in the fish creek neighbourhood is just soothing. No amenities or shops in the area. It has large playgrounds, river bank, pond, scenic beauty and very less crowd m. It’s a nice spot to take an evening walk.

FCP is what kept my husband and I sane during the pandemic. We'd grab a coffee and drive down and watch the seasons and the birds. Spring, summer, fall or winter, it would soothe our spirits and get us grounded again. Sometimes I'd even doze out there in nature. So fortunate to live so close!

Fish creek is really big. This time I went on a 11KM hike trail around sikome lake. It was a really beautiful walk. It was a foggy morning at first but cleared up as the sun came out. Parked at the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant and went from there. Coming back the trail had more people and most people came to do photoshoot as well. With the fall colours, it’s a beautiful place for photoshoot.

  • 5/5 John William W. 1 year ago on Google
We are so blessed to have such a gorgeous park right in the middle of our city. One part of the park that is beautiful for Fall colours is right by Anne's Café and The Ranche Restaurant. What a beautiful place for snapping selfies and nature photos. There is a lot of parking here and the paths are really easy to walk down. This is important especially if you have wagons for kids or elderly walking with you. There is a nice variety of scenes from trees to fields, to a bridge or old fashioned buildings. Once you are done you can grab a coffee and sit outside and just feel blessed to be in such a beautiful place.

It's really a huge park. It's hard to believe, but it a part of the city. There are a lot of good and comfortable trails to enjoy your walk. It's amazing place to relax and disconnect from city noise. Unfortunately, we didn't see a lot of wildlife.

Fish Creek Provincial Park could be an essential green space that provides a refreshing getaway for locals, visitors & wildlife alike. The park boasts a diverse array of creatures, including deer, coyotes, weasels, & various bird, fish & amphibian species. Conducting robust consultative scans, community observations, inventories, directories, statistical & qualitative profiles, surveys & questionnaires can assist in ensuring that the park’s boundaries remain intact for current & future generations to enjoy & for the thriving of both humans & wildlife.

Another go-to for most Calgarians, Fish Creek is a great spot for a quick hike, a bike ride, or—in our case— a photo shoot. The park is always well maintained and offers the right mix of nature and convenience.

Wonderful place to walk or to go for a bike ride. You can go through wooden area, chill next to the small river, see the small caves, go along the train line, beautiful place to visit. A little busy during weekends.

**A Day to Remember: Family Walk at Fish Creek Provincial Park 🍃** Family outings, with their mix of fun, bonding, and the occasional surprise, form the bedrock of cherished memories. On a recent sun-kissed day, I embarked on such an adventure with my three wonderful children, taking in the splendor of Fish Creek Provincial Park. **Nature's Majestic Canvas 🌳** Spanning a vast expanse, Fish Creek Provincial Park stands as a testament to nature's bounty. Verdant landscapes, meandering pathways, and the gentle rustle of leaves paint a picture of serenity that's hard to resist. As we strolled through the park, every turn revealed a new sight to marvel at, each more enchanting than the last. **Cleanliness: A Clear Priority 🌺** One of the standout features of our walk was the pristine condition of the park. Whether it was the well-maintained trails, the litter-free green spaces, or the clear signage, it was evident that the authorities, as well as visitors, hold the park's cleanliness in high regard. It’s always heartening to see nature being respected and preserved for future generations. **Joy in Simplicity 🎈** While the park boasted of its natural wonders, it was the simple moments that truly made the day special. The joyous laughter of my kids as they played, our shared wonder at spotting a particular bird or flower, and the heartwarming conversations we had along the way – these were the true treasures of the day. Being with children, one can't help but see the world through their inquisitive eyes, where every stone might hide a fascinating bug or every tree might tell a story. Their boundless energy and curiosity transformed our simple walk into a delightful exploration. **A Sanctuary in the Midst of Hustle and Bustle 🌼** Fish Creek Provincial Park, with its vastness and tranquility, serves as a breath of fresh air, especially for city dwellers. It's a sanctuary where one can disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with both nature and loved ones. The sheer size of the park ensures that even on busy days, you can find a quiet nook to sit back and soak in the peace. **In Conclusion 🌄** Days like these serve as a poignant reminder of the beauty that surrounds us and the joy that simple pleasures bring. Fish Creek Provincial Park, with its natural charm and well-kept spaces, offers the perfect backdrop for creating such memories. Whether you're a parent seeking quality time with your children, a nature enthusiast, or someone simply looking for a peaceful respite, this park beckons with open arms. And as for me, I left with a heart full of gratitude and a camera roll full of moments to cherish.

The west end has opened once again after some renovations done to the picnic shelters. Fish Creek in general is a great place to go for a walk or bike ride. They have added some public restrooms which were open today. Not sure if this will be the case when winter has arrived to stay. This time is also very brown, and the leaves are almost gone off the trees. Its much more beautiful in the summer.

Easy to Social distance here. Great place to go for a walk with the family. Numerous paved pathways allow for easy walks especially with strollers or wheelchairs. Benches are available in picnic areas and along the pathways. A great place to see wildlife such as deer meandering alongside the river. Bird watchers would also be pleasantly surprised. There are bathroom facilities available as well. During the warmer months come prepared with insect repellent. There is also an interesting bike/skateboard area at the entrance. All in all a great place to spend a quiet day with the family, to have a walk, picnic, bike ride or even have a paddle in the river.
