Staff was super nice upon arriving. The hotel itself looked very outdated and in need of some updating. I think the smell in the hallway was off putting, needs some plug in air freshener. The room itself was adequate. It was clean, but looked old and dingy. It was dog friendly and that’s what we needed. The breakfast was ok, good coffee and good bagels. We did not try the hot food. The staff was very accommodating.

We have really enjoyed our stay. Yes it's not one of the nicest looking. But it isn't bad. They keep the place very clean. Above all the staff is truly remarkable. Miriam is extremely trustworthy, she is a very sweet🧁 and caring lady. I have really appreciated the chance to get to know the staff members that I have encountered. They are real people doing their best to ensure a comfortable stay.

All i got to say is do NOT stay here, very unsanitary and gross. Me and my mom found bugs in the bathroom and in the room. Yes i understand bugs are everywhere but this has to do with the dirtiness of the room. The comforter was BROWN… we had to go buy are own pillows and blankets and we even cancelled the second night. Disgusting.

Manager is threatening extra charges after the stay, claiming items we neither used nor were aware existed are broken. Arrived into a room with the door ajar. The room was passable, as we were only looking for a place to sleep after a day at the Indiana Dunes parks. The room did not have towels, so we had to go back to the front and request towels. Not a big deal, but a minor inconvenience. Room wasn't particularly clean, and most of the furniture was clearly worn. Two days after departure, we received a telephone call threatening a charge for a broken television. I'm not even sure where the television would be in the room, but management is convinced that we broke the item in the room. After patiently explaining that we did not break said item, management repeated that they planned to charge extra for the broken item. Beware of the management. I normally save one star reviews for Comcast. The hotel that didn't help when our car was broken into received two stars.

Stayed because the "campground" we had reserved a cabin at was absolutely a 0 star place. Pet friendly (we had our dog along) and an okay price. Fine in a pinch but have definitely stayed at nicer hotels. Bathroom tile was broken and felt like toilet was sunken in. Dust on headboards. Some drawing on the wall above the light was questionable- possibly crayon, chalk or wax, didn't inspect close enough to find out. Old dried blood or ketchup on the door lock.

I stay for business in Portage about once a month, if not more. This is my preferred hotel of choice. Baymont has the best free breakfast in the area: hot, tasty, and always available. The service is just as top notch, the general manager Miriam, is personable and lovely. She wants all of her guests to feel at home and comfortable. The rooms are comfortable, not the very best, but good enough for a few nights rest. Most rooms come with a mini fridge, the TV is average size, but the wifi is fast and always available. I will continue to book with this hotel when I am in Portage, and I suggest you give them a chance, too.

Our third year visiting this hotel, and once again, awesome service and the best stay! We had a little confusion on check-in (more on our part, but something was entered wrong on hotel part by accident, it happens). The lady helping us was so patient, kind, and dedicated to helping us. Our room upon entering was, as always, very clean! No bugs, no smoke, no nasty bathroom, nothing broken. No issues with anything. Very quiet during the nights. An excellent stay is an understatement. I’ve seen reviews before about how run down these hotels are, but they really aren’t. You have to understand that the normal wear and tear will give that “scuffed up/worn down” look. The hotel staff & maintenance do a great job on the upkeep of this hotel, inside and outside! Parking lot was also very clean all week as well. You can tell the staff take pride in this hotel and their job! Definitely will be returning!

I recommend you find another hotel. We found this through Bring Fido. First problem is that the hotel is badly dated and in some disrepair. We also should have known there was a problem when a group was leaving because they said their room was dirty and there were bugs on the bed. We are very careful about bed bugs so checked our bed when we got to the room It was clean, which was probably the best thing about the hotel. This was in June 2022 and the price we booked was nearly $200 and with the pet fee, was over $200. Before we arrived, I got a notice that the price had dropped to just over $100. When we checked in, I asked if we could get the better price. The woman was very nice and said that it was "probably ok" since I asked before checking in but I would need to talk to the morning manager. She said she would leave a message. In the morning, I asked to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, her curt reply was "Oh, I am sorry. Since you made the reservation through a third party, you will have to go through them. So then I contacted Bring Fido who said they would be happy to make the request. I received notice today that the hotel declined to provide any refund for the higher price. Find another hotel.

Acceptable for the price but the rooms / hallway had a musty/dirty smell to them. It's decor is a bit dated but thats not something I really care about. It needs to be clean and comfortable, which it only kinda was. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As with most places these days they are short staffed so you need to adjust expectations accordingly.

Lovely staff and breakfast. Our shower wasn’t up to my standard of cleanliness, but my partner was kind enough to clean it up and ease my mind. Otherwise, everything was lovely and reasonable especially for the price. About a ten minute drive to the beach. Nice little area.

Location is only good thing about this place. All parks are near. Place is filled with dogs and dog hairs. You will find dog hairs on room floor and lobby. You wont get any room cleaning services. One of our group member got a room which smelled very bad because of cigarettes. Even though they said 3rd floor was dedicated for non pet owners but they had pet owners on this floor. Not recommended. It was expensive hotel we paid 120 on average. Expected better service and quality.

The electricity was out in town due to a storm, but we were checked in quickly and efficiently---- the desk clerk used his laptop and portable lights and we were able to get in our room immediately. The lobby was very clean throughout our stay, and had an inviting, clean fragrance. Breakfast was great! There was a good variety of hot and cold foods. The breakfast staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was nice, typical, nothing fancy but clean and spacious. We'd definitely stay here again.

Love staying here when I’m town for business! The staff (though understaffed) works very hard at making every stay pleasant and has always been extremely accommodating! The General manager Miriam always goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome! The other desk clerks are just as kind and are always busy! Love the sweet lady that prepares the morning breakfast buffet (which by the way is huge and very good)! It is not uncommon to see the desk clerk helping out preparing the rooms for a guest or giving the kitchen staff some help! Although a little dated I have never had an issue while staying here! The location is extremely convenient to the new Great Clips salon in Hobart that I hep manage. I will continue to choose this hotel when in the area! My only wish is that I had extra time when visiting to use the indoor pool which always looks so inviting! 🥰

Was greeted by a friendly lady at reception that was able to upgrade me with my wyndham Diamond rewards! The staff here are always great and helpful. The location is perfect to launch to anywhere locally you are visiting. If you’re just passing through it’s worth spending a night in order to hit the road immediately. With a checkout at noon and plenty near you for food, you can expect a great stay for a great price!

Wonderful, helpful staff! We stayed here three nights and the staff were so incredibly kind and helpful. Our son had a minor accident that required an emergency trip to the dentist (let me confirm that his accident was NOT the hotel’s fault by any means) and the front desk was so helpful in helping us locate options since we live 4 hours away. Thank you to Ebony for being so kind!! The staff work extremely hard and truly care about every customer. The rooms are outdated, but clean and comfortable.

Recently I've experienced some not so good luck in finding an apartment. Rather than live in a vehicle, I chose Baymont. I thought it was pricey at first, then I arrived and was pleasantly surprised. The staff is super accommodating and friendly! Ms Gonzalez, the general manager, is so nice and helpful. She's a gem! The breakfast is absolutely filling. I've been other places where breakfast is a Danish and coffee. Kudos! My room was absolutely comfy! So comfy! One night I didn't even respond to the alarm So nice! The pool looks inviting but I have yet to try. Overall, if your plans include staying in Portage, I highly recommend this location. Highly recommend.

The location was great because it was right off route 80 and we were on a long road trip just passing through. The staff was very friendly but the rooms were not even close to being sound proofed. There was a large group of kids there for a baseball game and they put us right in the middle of all of them. The kids were screaming, running up the hallways, pounding on the walls, and Knocking on other guests doors for fun after 9pm. Not that the hotel has control over other kids, we should have been placed on a different floor not in the middle of all those kids. When we called the front desk, they attempted to silence the kids which did help a little but they were still waking us up all hours of the night. The shampoo/conditioner bottles in the bathroom were clearly used as they were half empty and the remaining was not enough for a single use. When I attempted to call the guest services from the room phone, a lady answered and told me it was her personal cell phone number and that I should stop calling her. So that was really awkward. Good spot for a quick few hours of sleep but probably not a location I would recommend if comfort, peace, and cleanliness is desired.

Comfortable bed, fluffy pillows and cable TV, ooh la la. They serve hot breakfast and have coffee available all day. Family friendly and pets are welcome. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Had to stay for business. Place was nice and clean in my opinion. The staff was friendly. Manager was very kind and helped me with my rate, so that was a plus! Breakfast had a great variety and was very clean. I enjoy the room and slept great. I'd return!

I didn't have any interaction with any employees other than when I checked in. I didn't mind, tho everything was perfectly fine for me when I entered the room. The facility was clean and smelled clean. I only had to stay for one night, so I didn't really get to enjoy anything, but it suited me for what I needed. If I ever have to go back that way, I will definitely stay here again.

The room was DIRTY smelly and gross and wet. This was not worth $115 maybe $60 for a stay. So disappointed. There was pink stuff splattered on the bathroom when we arrived (looked like pepto bismol!) Soap containers were maybe half full, found long white hairs on the towels which had weird stains and didn’t appear to be fully cleaned. Floor was WET with humidity, bathroom door didn’t close all the way or lock. Wood paneling flooring in bathroom that clearly isn’t meant for a wet environment. Weird smears on the walls. Stunk like mildew. So bad the smell woke me up in the night. Just nasty. We left feeling dirty, will never stay here again or at a Baymont, especially for this price point. We were there for one night and got in fairly late, just dealt with it and tried to sleep and get out of there as fast as we could the next day. It was below the bare minimum. I’m a rewards member and was so disappointed, and rarely write reviews like this but I felt misled after reading good reviews about cleanliness.

I had a crisis going on at my apartment complex and needed to find a room right away on black Friday. I appreciate Ms Coletta for being very nice and finding my family a place to stay . Then meeting David as well, he was very pleasant and helped us out with any questions we had. Then we had met the manager to give a positive review to Coletta and David and Miriam ( general manager) was just the icing on the cake to niceness. I appreciate it for you guys taking care of my family in the time of emergency. The rooms was clean and everything was good even the breakfast . Thank you everyone !

Rooms are pretty big. Bathrooms are a good size. They have conecting rooms. Others hotels ask for a $100 deposit , this one doesnt. I payed $209 for friday and saturday night. They have a pool but its small, doesnt look clean, a small gym. They dont have room service unless you stay more than 3 nights, they say its to save energy I think its because they are short staff. Theres someone at front desk at all times. Breakfast is included and served from 7-10am. Wish they wouldnt allow dogs. But area is nice , is right off the highway and everythings from walmart, meijer, walgreens burger king, licor store is less than 1mile away

For starters the people at the front service desk acted as if they are inconvenienced by me being there. The room in and of itself is decently clean although it is outdated and showing it's age. It took forever for the hot water to get hot when taking a shower. Also the towels and rags are very thin and not very soft at all. This isn't a bad hotel, it's just not worth the asking price.

There is a bar and grill nextdoor to grab a bite but not much else within walking distance. Very convenient to 80/90 interstate. Rooms were clean. Coffee was hot and fresh. Staff was pleasant. One of the only pet friendly hotels in the area.

Location was good. Rooms are dated, but OK. Asked for a quite room and relatively speaking it was. Was concerned about the pot smell in the hall on the second floor and the girl sitting on the ground outside the side entry. She was smoking a cigarette, but acted like she was high on something. I probably wouldn't stay there again.

Convenient location directly off the highway. The common areas and room did feel a little run-down but everything in the room seemed clean. Staff was friendly and helpful and I'm glad I could bring my large dog with me.

My stay has been very pleasant. ALL the staff has always been very polite and helpful, rooms are clean, and I just hadn’t need to look elsewhere as it suited my needs for the last 3 months for weekly stays as a traveler. Breakfast has been wonderful!! No complaints here.

Hospitality was amazing! We were treated by the wonderful staff, very accommodating to our request. Breakfast was hot and fresh and saved us time from going out. We were able to use the meeting area for our family and pool for the kiddos. Highly recommend staying.

Staff was so extremely polite and more than helpful. Hall was very clean, tables were set up perfectly. All we had to do was come in and decorate how we wanted to. I will always choose to come back here for any events. To have a space that is a great price with great customer service is all anyone wants. Definitely would recommend this location. Front desk customer service again was so pleasant and helpful. I've worked in the hotel industry and I can recognize great service when I see it.

Their morning staff was great! The breakfast was hot and well attended too. We stayed for a quick overnight as part of a larger trip and would gladly stay again. Pet friendly rooms were available for an extra fee, if needed.

Enjoyed our stay. Clean room, nice pool. Nick at the front desk was very helpful. Convenient access to toll road and highways. Beware of construction and slow traffic right now on the main street.

Property was older but room was very clean. The grounds could use cleaning up. The lady that checked us is was lovely. We didn’t eat breakfast so I can’t comment on the food. Coffee was good and the young man cleaning up in the kitchen was eager to replace the container when I told him it was empty. The thing that totally creeped me out was the older man that was sleeping on a little bench in the lobby when we checked in. He was still there when we went to dinner and returned. He was there this morning in hospital scrubs (different clothing than the night before). I asked the young lady behind the desk what was up with him. She responded that she couldn’t do anything about where people sit. Bad look.

I don't normally write reviews. However, I must say as a 15 year member of Wyndham Company my overall experience at this particular Baymont has been exemplary. Excellent service starts at the top. Kudos to the Manager Miriam Gonzalez who was very welcoming with a pleasant personality and professional with how she communicated the amenities of the hotel. 5 stars!

it's been a good stay. They keep the place clean. the staff are great. Miriam is extremely trustworthy, she is a very nice and caring lady. Will most definitely be back if we ever need a place to stay or just want to get away. Thank you all so much for the effort you've put in to making this stay enjoyable.

Staff was extremely accommodating, funny, and kind. Rooms are older but very clean. 2nd floor was more soundproof than the 1st in my opinion. We had a family emergency and I stayed there on 2 different occasions over a 2 week period . The staff went above and beyond to help me with anything that I needed. They are also pet friendly . Continental breakfast was very good , don't be late. I will stay here again! It was my home away from home.

I’ve stayed at many hotels around the state. This hotel was one of the cleanest ones ever! My stay was just relaxing! The front desk lady Coletta was such a nice lady and gave me a great deal! The GM came out to say hello, such a sweet lady, the staff here is just so real and knows how to do there job! The breakfast was amazing too and delicious! My room was very clean and modern ! Love it! Totally recommend staying here!
