We absolutely loved our stay in the Hive Room at Kestrel this past weekend! Communication about every aspect of the stay was clear, thoughtful, and quick! I highly recommend booking parking with Kestrel, if available- having my vehicle in a private garage with the capability to come and go as if I were at home was an outstanding comfort and amenity, at a completely reasonable price. Upon entering our room we were met with gorgeous, trendy, comfortable surroundings just as pictured and highly picturesque. As some others have said, the binder welcoming you and describing all aspects of your stay was very helpful. Recommendations were heeded and I certainly agree with the ones I tried. Location is fantastic as well- we were able to easily walk to and from several sites and restaurants in the area and we felt very safe and included in local culture. As for sleeping arrangements- we had three guests in the Hive. There is space for two to sleep very comfortably in the loft, and the third sleeping area is located underneath the stairwell to the loft— do not be discouraged in any way by placement- I thoroughly slept comfortably and cozily in the smaller bed under the stairs! If your guest is on the taller side, there is a very comfy couch in the main area that could double as a sleeping area. I could go on and on- but I’ll wrap it up! This was the cleanest, most beautiful, comfortable, inclusive, peaceful stay I’ve had out of town, maybe ever. Kestrel is the place to stay.

Great location, fast service. The convention center is a short distance away, and the unit comes equipped with everything you need to whip up a meal. The coffee, ginger beer, and soap in the unit were fantastic. I genuinely enjoyed staying here and was pleasantly surprised at how the design of the place made me feel so much more at home in an unfamiliar city. They don't have a check-in counter, so it's rather cumbersome sometimes to ask for things or request access to the luggage room after hours. However, they do email back in a timely fashion, and respond to phone calls.

We stayed in the Mayor Study Loft. We loved the room. It was very clean and the decorations were tasteful. We were big fans of the security to the hotel and to our room. The only reason we didn’t give it 5 stars is because there wasn’t a TV in the room. On days that it was raining, we had to cuddle up next to our iPad. Would have been nice to relax in front of a TV and watch football. Overall, great experience with Kestrel.

We loved our stay at the Kestrel. The bed was extremely comfortable and had loads of great amenities. There were nice touches to the room, like a lovely room fragrance, body wash, and hand soap. The kitchen had many dishes and items so we could easily make breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Felt completely safe here as a solo woman traveler. The studio was lovely and quiet, with full ability to cook meals if you pick up some yummy foods at Reading Terminal Market. Loved that I could walk everywhere- it took about 7 minutes to walk to the Philadelphia Convention Center, on an easy, straight route. I also visited the Independence Visitors Center, Rocky statue/steps, the famous LOVE statue, and much more on foot. It was a blessing to be able to leave my luggage in the free locked luggage drop for a few hours before checking in and after checking out. It really helped me make the most of my time in Philly. The local coffee in the room was very yummy too :) I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

My best friend and I loved our stay! The space was modern and clean. The location was super convenient, and we walked everywhere. Chris and Dan were always immediate to communicate, and we stored our luggage early in the morning when we got in. Next booking in Philly will be easy because we'll always come back to Kestrel!

Why stay at a regular hotel when I you can stay at the Kestrel? Excellent communication from the owners, from the easy to understand instructions to enter the hotel to the details of storing luggage. Wonderful location, we walked EVERYWHERE and felt very safe doing so. The room had everything we needed. Want to save money and cook your meals? This is the PERFECT place to do it. Bathroom was large, bed was comfy, large closet, plenty of outlets. The price is more than fair! We didn't have a car, so I can't speak to any details regarding that.

Staying at the Kestrel was such a pleasure. It was a very clean and comforting place for me and my friend during our trip to Philly. One thing I loved about our visit was the welcome binder they had for guests on the table that gave us instructions about our room and recommendations for fun things to do in the area. It was very thoughtful and helpful while we were there! Overall, it was a very good experience and we really enjoyed our stay!

We loved staying at the Kestrel Hotel! We were only in town for a few days for a wedding and it was the perfect home base for us. The room had everything we needed (including delicious tea!) and we loved being in a cool neighborhood but also in walking distance of everywhere we needed to go. We'll definitely be staying there again next time we're in Philly!

Another great stay at Kestrel! It is just a short distance from City Hall, several museums and a nice elevated rail park. Everything was great; the room, communications with the owners, Dan and Chris, for reservations, early check in and secure luggage storage after check out. I will definitely stay there the next time I'm in town!

I loved my stay at the Kestrel. All of the check-in and stay information was communicated upfront, and the flat was lovely and comfortable. I stayed in the Hive room. It's not large, but definitely adequate for 2 people, and bigger and more comfortable than a hotel. The sleeping area is lofted. The bed was excellent. There is a laundry room on the same floor. The view of the city from the flat is lovely, and the flat is very quiet. Be forewarned that although there is good wifi, there's no television, if that matters to you. Also, I really liked the location in the north end of Center City, but if you are not a city person, it might make you nervous. The building and room security is very good, however. I felt safe. All in all, I consider the Kestrel a find. I will definitely come back.

It was an amazing stay. Everything was practically perfect. They are wonderful hosts and everything we needed and wanted to do was practically in walking distance. A great stay and when I'm back in Philly I will be staying here again! 🩷 also the view from the roof at nice was amazing.

Such a beautiful stay in my beloved Philly. The room was super clean, stylish, and comfortable. It was also a perfectly situated location in Philly. I definitely recommend.

We loved Kestrel! Our room was super modern and clean. It had everything we needed and it was so close to Philly's main attractions. The hosts were also super responsive. I would love to come back!

Our family of three (two adults and a 10 year old) stayed two nights at the Kestrel in the Mayor’s Loft during a vacation to Philadelphia. It was a peaceful retreat from our bustling days in the city. We found free street parking nearby, and then just walked everywhere. It was just over a mile to Independence Hall and other Center City attractions. We enjoyed amazing dim sum in Chinatown, which is very close to the Kestrel. And we took the SEPTA train to a Phillies game from a nearby station. The unit is beautiful and spacious, with an under-the-stairs twin bed that was perfect for our kid, and a queen bed loft that was perfect for us. After a week of staying at chain hotels before arriving in Philly, we really appreciated the well-appointed and truly FULL kitchen (fridge, freezer, sink, dishwasher, microwave and full stove, with pots, pans, utensils, plates, cups, etc.) The complimentary tea, coffee and mixers were welcome for refreshment! We appreciated the extra chairs in the upstairs closet (since there were three of us), the fast internet and the well-appointed bathroom. There is a small binder in the room that provided all the needed logistical information, and thoughtful local recommendations. Chris and Dan were super-fast to respond to any questions we had. We would 100% stay here again when we are next in Philadelphia!

So glad I found this hotel during my stay in Philadelphia. The owners (Chris and Dan) are super responsive to all questions and check in is easy (key code access to hotel and rooms). I stayed in the Continental Congress room which was beautiful and had a great downtown view. Full kitchen with large refrigerator and dishwasher, and a queen bed up in the loft area. There is also a comfortable twin under the stairs. Loved the chemex coffee maker (coffee included) and the Sonos speaker. The room also comes with Irish and herbal teas. The hotel is close to Chinatown and the convention center- I also liked the surrounding area which had a nice bar (Prohibition Taproom) and a diner (Cafe Lift).

Great little hotel. The lofts feel super classy with a Chemex to brew local coffee and all the kitchen amenities you could ask for. The decor is quite stylish and modern. Great location, too!

My wife and I stayed in the Billy Penn suite over the weekend. The room was very clean and homey and we had no issues during our stay. For a fair fee we also were able to park our car in the garage which was nice. View from the room was great and it was easy for us to walk into the old city to see the historical sites and go out for drinks. I'd definitely recommend booking at the Kestrel if you're planning a trip to Philly and don't want to break the bank on big name hotel chains.

I’ve stayed at Kestrel twice and always enjoy my stay. It’s a clean, modern building and the rooms are furnished very stylishly and comfortably which is important to me. You truly cannot beat the price either. It’s truly the best deal in town for what you get. We love having a full kitchen in the unit to eat takeout and store leftovers, and making tea/coffee in the morning! Also, the keyless entry makes life so easy. A few things to note: The neighborhood is just okay. It doesn’t feel unsafe but there’s not a whole lot going on and it’s pretty desolate at night. It is a short walk to downtown which is good We’ve gotten lucky a few times with parking on the street for free at night. However there’s a paid lot a block away from the hotel for $25 a night which is pretty decent for overnight parking in a city. We’ve never had any issues with security. Our stay would be 10x more comfortable with a tv! We love winding down at night in bed watching a show or a movie. This would be a huge value add. We also would’ve loved a full length mirror in the room to check our outfits! I’ve recommended Kestrel to friends and will continue to stay there myself whenever in Philly.

We stayed in the Hive Room, which was perfect for our family of three. The Kestrel Hotel, with its immaculate rooms, spotless kitchen, and contactless check-in/check-out, really hit the sweet spot--between an impersonal big-chain hotel and a too-intimate AirBnb. Also loved the nice touches such as the oils and spices for cooking+great neighborhood recs for bars and restaurants. Thanks, Kestrel!

We found this loft to be an excellent place to explore Philadelphia from. The location meant that most of the city's highlights were walking distance. The loft is nicely decorated and spacious, and comes with a little booklet of tips from Dan & Chris which was very thoughtful. We tried several of them and they certainly elevated our stay in Philly. The beds were a bit on the softer side, but other than that no remarks. An all round excellent place for a visit.

Great place and location, and very responsive hosts! Stayed in the Inquirer with my mum, it was the perfect size for the 2 of us (and the bathroom is massive!). I was pleasantly surprised by the provided bluetooth speaker in the room. Also a plus was how lovely it always smelled. It would’ve been nice if they provided body wash (there was 3-in-1 shampoo provided) and as people who take their shoes off indoors the floors could’ve been cleaner, but these aren’t big complaints. The location was pretty good, a short walk to Reading Terminal and a stone’s throw from the great food in Chinatown. Thanks for the great stay, Dan and Chris!

Great place! Loved everything about it, with the exception of the air conditioning. There was none. The first weekend of June '23 was a scorcher, and while it did cool off at night, the loft bedroom did not and never dropped below 80°F. I slept on the floor under the staircase (on the tiny youth bed) to stay cool enough to not sweat buckets. That being said, I highly recommend the Hive Room at Kestrel! Easily 5 star rating, but oof, it was hot, and Maintenance was non-existent.

We had a fabulous weekend stay in the Loft District Suite. The room was beautifully decorated, the kitchen fully stocked (including olive oil & seasonings), the couch was cozy and the bed even cozier. The shower gel had one of the best scents either of us have ever encountered. We booked parking in the private garage as well and that was invaluable. We were never worried about our car during the stay and it was incredibly easy to navigate. Chris & Dan were communicative with instructions and key codes and we never had any issues. The location was perfect, with a bodega within easy walking distance, along with several restaurants and coffee options. We will certainly be back for future adventures in the city.

Amazing stay at Kestrel Hotel. Clean, comfy, cosy with great location and amenities. Had most of the things we needed, was just missing some blinds for the top windows (if you want to sleep in). Would definitely stay here again, loved the space and so did our two pups! Elixir coffee was also a win!! 🌟

This place is super convenient to walking almost anywhere, and if it's too far, Uber's we're fairly cheap. We had a pretty great stay in Philly and the little brown book had a few places that were apart of our trip. We did have a tough time with the AC but they had it handled quickly. Only thing this place needs is some blackout curtains. We love to travel but if we make it back up there I would stay here again.

We have stayed at The Kestrel several times and hasn't never disappointed us. The studio room has just what you need for a long or short stay- a comfortable bed, large bathroom, a large kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, and fridge. We always book the parking spot next to the hotel because it makes it so convenient to stay in downtown Philly and walk to Reading Terminal and nearby places. Chris and Dan respond quickly to requests. I highly recommend staying here.

Cannot say enough about how amazing the Kestrel Hotel was. It's in a great area of Philadelphia lots of walkable space and close by parks. The staff is extremely helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had during the stay. The rooms are spotless when you arrive. Would give 6 stars if I could.

Best accommodation by far in our travels through the US from Australia over the past 3 weeks. The whole unit is fabulous and particularly the kitchen. It is fully equipped and even has tea! Decor is modern, beds are very comfortable and the communication with Dan and Chris exceptional. Free luggage storage was available as was laundry facilities. Short walk into Philly and the historic district. Very highly recommended.

this was such a great find! the rooms are so spacious and cute, and the contactless check in and check out makes you feel like less of a hotel guest and more like someone who lives in the city. the location alone is a plus but you can tell that the owners really care about their guests and have tried their best to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. the kitchen had plenty of dishes and even coffee, tea, and some sodas. I will definitely be staying here again next time I'm in the city!

We very much enjoyed our stay! After hours of walking around, coming back to our room was a relaxing treat. Location was great, room was perfect, and the bed was more comfortable than most hotel spots we stay in. Thanks again! We recommended to our parents who are planning their own trip soon!

We had a great experience staying at Kestrel Hotel. The room was so nice and stylish! Comfy bed and very close to old city. The host was super helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone stating in Philadelphia.

Chris and Dan were wonderful, responsive hosts. We booked last minute, with two dogs, and they were kind and accommodating. The location was perfect Center City spot. Very walkable, (Elixir Coffee is a block away & they have a nice Chemex in the kitchen) and we were able to find street parking without difficulty. The loft was spotlessly clean, spacious and the furnishings chic. The kitchen is lovely and we were happy to have the oven to heat our Thanksgiving dishes to take to a family meal. Tea, coffee & drink mixers on the counter. The beds were comfortable & the 2 kimonos were a nice touch. We felt like guests & hope to make this our Philly hub upon return.

Great accommodation matched with fast and timely communication. My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Inquirer. Comfy and thoughtful setting. No hitch whatsoever, which is super nice to experience! Being close to so many places meant we could walk around. They also provided cooking utensils which was a great advantage. Quiet and comfy. Will like to stay again if in Philadelphia.

Absolutely lovely stay at the Kestrel! Communication was clear and concise. Checking in was easy, and the directions for how to get into the building and room made sense. The room itself was exactly as advertised, which was just what we needed. The bed was super comfy, if you're into softer mattresses. I'm excited to have seen the kitchen and all the pots/pans/olive oil/etc so we can plan a longer trip in the future and know we'll be able to cook a little bit. The coffee from elixir was great and we ended up stopping by on our last day to pick up beans for home! overall, it was a really lovely stay, at an unbeatable price. we'll definitely stay again!

We have added the Kestrel to our "places to return to" list and will return to Philly just to stay here again. We stayed in the Billy Penn and loved the blending of luxury with its industrial design. We'd loved so much about it I will just summarize it by saying it's a fabulous place. The room binder had all the necessary information as well as solid recommendations for local places to visit. I can't remember if they had Far East Descendent restaurant in that book, but I will put a plug in for them to add it if not.

Would highly recommend the Kestrel Hotel! Contactless checkin, and pin pad access was great for not having to worry about keeping track of keys. The room was clean, and stocked with anything you’d need for your stay! The location itself was great, just a short walk to Chinatown, and short car rides to anything else you’d want to see in the city. Looking forward to staying here again.

I cannot speak highly enough about our stay at the Kestrel this past weekend! The owners, Chris & Dan, are very communicative with instructions which made self check-in a breeze. They provide you with personalized entry codes at the front door of the building as well as your room. My partner and I stayed in the Poor Richard studio, which was perfect size for the two of us. Plenty of bath and hand towels for our 3 night stay, a large bathroom equipped with shower gel, a full-sized kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea (having a kettle and pour over was especially amazing), and a comfortable bed. We stayed at their Center City location, in close proximity to lots of restaurants, shops, and Philadelphia staples. This was great for us, as it was our first time visiting the city! We also booked here to be nearby Franklin Music Hall for a concert and it was roughly a 10-minute walk for us, which was perfect. When searching for a place to stay, prices at other hotels and airbnbs had skyrocketed because of the busy weekend but the Kestrel’s prices remained very reasonable. If you are staying in Philly, book with the Kestrel!!! I promise you will not regret it. :-)

Check in was so smooth- very easy to get into lobby and our room. Loved the cool industrial style decor- air conditioning worked great-- plenty of kitchen space- loved the full fridge- loved the extra touches. Very easy walk to Reading Terminal and then onto Broad Street. Staff was very quick to respond when we contacted them-- I would suggest listing the number in the email-- we had to google and find the site and then find a phone number- would have been much easier if it was listed under the names in the email. Overall such a great place- highly recommend- we come to Center City a lot and will definitely stay here again!!

The Leopard street apartment was magnificent! Beautifully decorated and very cozy. It was also incredibly quiet for being on the first floor of a city street. The location was perfect for walking to bars and restaurants. The super easy contact-less check in and out made everything so simple and stress free. I will absolutely be booking another stay and would highly recommend it to anyone!

Amazing airbnb property. very well decorated and super clean and self-sufficient kitchen. Their services level is also outstanding. I would definitely stay here again if I am visiting Philly downtown. If you have mobility issues, then do not book this place as the bed is upstairs within the room.

LOVED our stay at the Fishtown location! The apartment was in a great area close to awesome restaurants/nightlife, was very clean and beautifully designed. I'm a professional interior stylist by trade and was impressed with how the owners outfitted the space; they clearly took time to think of all the little details that would make the apartment beautiful, comfortable & functional including a very well stocked kitchen & beautiful robes guests can use. I liked the robes so much that I inquired about buying one for myself to take home! My husband and I would stay here in a heartbeat again.

This is now twice I have relied on Kestrel Hotel for my visits to Philadelphia. It is the most reliable and user friendly hotel I've ever stayed at. The simplicity of the rooms, the generosity with the fully stocked kitchen - it is a perfect booking if you want to spend the night in with a loved one, or spend the day flowing the around the heart of Philly.

We had such a great stay here! They had everything listed and made for a very comfortable stay. The bed was comfortable and cozy, there were multiple lighting options to suit everyone's preference, check in was super easy, and we loved being able to park in a garage spot. I was stunned at how quiet the street was for being in Center City. We stayed here on New Years and you truly could not hear anything outside. Lastly, this location is great if using public transportation. It was within walking distance to bus and train lines. We will absolutely be back.
