Why you should visit Castelinho Caracol

Castelinho Caracol offers a mixed experience. The historical buildings and setting are appealing, but the food quality is inconsistent and potentially overpriced. Consider visiting for the ambiance but be cautious about food expectations and bring cash.

  1. To explore historical farming artifacts, experience a charming chateau-like atmosphere, and potentially try the famous Apfelstrudel (if you're feeling adventurous). It is also very close to Caracol Park so you can visit two landmarks on the same day.

Things you should know before visiting

Be prepared to pay in cash. The historical information is primarily in Portuguese. Opinions on the Apfelstrudel vary widely, so manage your expectations. Weekday visits might be less crowded than weekends.

The Apfelstrudel (Apple strudel) is one of the best I ever had.

Don’t go, it’s a scam. The pancake is an insult to the palate and the strudel lacks structure dough and flavor.

Nice visit with interesting historical buildings, true Apfelstrudel, however, a bit overpriced for someone that already paid an entrance fee.

It has a nice sight seeing but that's all. The apple strudel is shameful and poorly prepared.

Nice place but they're telling that it's German and some big signs are in German too but the history and information signs are only in Portuguese. It would be better to have also English and/or German translations of them.

Nice visit with interesting historical buildings, true Apfelstrudel, however, a bit overpriced for someone that already paid an entrance fee. As in today, you pay R$16 for one ticket (adult) and R$32 for one slice of Apfelstrudel with cream. Don’t get me wrong, it tastes truly German, but I just don’t think the price is right. It was overall a nice experience though!

interesting venue, filled with historic farming artifacts and traditional buildings. There is a coffee inside one of the houses with a famous apfelstrudel which I personally didn't like much (too much filling and almost no pastry). The apple tea was surprisingly sweet, even though it has no sugar added!

Don’t go, it’s a scam. The pancake is an insult to the palate and the strudel lacks structure dough and flavor. Don’t be fooled!

The Apfelstrudel (Apple strudel) is one of the best I ever had. Every time I travel to Gramado or Canela, at least one day of the trip I NEED to go to Castelinho Caracol to have Apfelstrudel.

It has a nice sight seeing but that's all. The apple strudel is shameful and poorly prepared. The hot chocolate they serve is nothing more than a terrible quality Nescau alike...and the variety simply doesn't exist. To add insult to injury they only take cash, not bothering to make this clear until you are on your way to the cashier. Do not recommend it.
