My wife and I stayed at Hotel Tugu Bali for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon. There are some charming aspects of the space and the restaurant is quite good. The hotel is also located near the beach which is nice. The rooms and the grounds however do need updating. As other have mentioned, particularly the bathrooms in the rooms are not updated and actually dirty. Finally the service could have been better, overall some of the employees were very pleasant and helpful while others were rude and condescending. Overall I would say there are other places to stay in which your money would be better spent.

So many reasons why i choose 5/5 for this hotel 1. Location, near Batu Bolong Beach you can walk only 1 minute or less from the hotel. This is good for beach or sunset lover. 2. Their great hospitality and feels like my old home 3. Interior and bedroom is so comfortable 4. The breakfast is so delicious. So worth it to be here again next time. Thanks Tugu Bali Hotel

Fabulous from the moment we arrived to the moment we left . The staff were the best we’ve ever encountered. Professional, friendly , efficient. We loved the history behind the hotel - which the staff were very happy to share with us . It was honestly like walking into a different world. We were so happy here. The bed was super comfortable. Location is fabulous- many restaurants and the beach on the doorstep. Breakfast was just amazing ! The Indonesian dishes were great - we tried all of them and all were perfect .

What a beautiful and magical hotel! We spent a fabulous five days at Hotel Tugu at the start of our family holiday in Bali, staying in gorgeous rooms filled with antiques. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Four of us really enjoyed a morning cooking class, learning about the culture as well as cooking new recipes . The food at all of the restaurants and cafe was delicious and the kitchen was so good at accommodating our dietary requirements. The choice at breakfast was amazing and the Indonesian dishes were particularly memorable. Thank you so much to everyone who made our stay at Tugu such a happy one.

Stayed 3 nights in July 2022. The short summary is that it's a lovely hotel overall, but for a 5 star hotel i would've expected a notch better service. I love that they offer to have breakfast in your room, by the pool or in the restaurant - was fun to switch it up and the food is good! Location is amazing, it's right next door to the beach and Lawn beach club, you can walk anywhere from here! The pictures when I booked our room had a day bed by our private pool which looked lovely, but we only got two small pin chairs so felt a bit let down by that and didn't really spend any time by our pool due to that. The bathroom was so beautiful, a little pond and windows that open up from the bath. Gorgeous! They don't have any pool service ever visible so if you need anything you have to go on to reception to order. Same with breakfast - once you finish no-one cleans up the dishes but it gets infested with ants crawling up the table to eat the leftovers. We had originally planned to stay a second stay but opted to go to Jimbaran and stay at another resort. Probably won't stay again, but it's overall a nice Balinese hotel but no five star service.

I loved this hotel, it represents Balinese culture at it's best. We stayed in Dedari suite. The room is very comfortable and very well decorated, the bathroom is astonishing! The perfect place to find authenticity and a piece of Balinese history, gastronomy and culture.

As usual Tugu delivers. Arts and history lovers, this is going to be your favorite hotel in Canggu. Sadly did not stayed the night but had a lovely breakfast after a tiring surf lesson. Staff was very nice and helpful. Food and drinks were excellent, with fresh ingredients and a nice presentation (homemade sourdough bread was to die for). Special thanks to Andre for his welcome and the tour of the museum on site.

We went to the restaurant of the hotel on a Thursday evening for dinner. It was cultural evening so we were treated to 3 traditional dance performances with live music, that on it's own was amazing. But the service and food are to die for! They have a new menu and the service is top notch, deserving of a Michelin star even. Our waiter Pande amazed us with his perfect and friendly service, striking up a nice conversation every now and again without it being to much. Definite recommendation when visiting Canggu to have dinner here on a Thursday!

I was ready for bed, when my traveling companion called to say “Hey, there’s Gamelan playing at the resort”. Quick smart, I was there. What a place. Apparently it was the first resort built in Canggu. The architecture and wood is absolutely mesmerizing, stunning. I went there for the traditional dancing and a drink. We ended up having a wonderful Indonesian food boat! Wow. Flavorsome, colourful with incredible texture and depth. Not very hot, which I would prefer. Our hostess, Ayu and Pendi were amazing. So friendly and kind. We even learnt a little Indonesian. We spent a heap but this was a wonderful experience. I don’t understand why tourists come here to have Western food when this country has the most stunning cultural food and entertainment on offer. I highly recommend this if you are lucky enough to be there when the traditional music and dancing is in town. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Tugu Bali for our honeymoon and had the most MAGICAL experience! Our suite was massive & even dreamier than the photos & the entire resort was gorgeous. The food was exceptional, the staff was incredibly friendly & helpful (especially Pande!!) and the location was great, right next to the beach. 11/10 would recommend!

We had an incredible time at Hotel Tugu! The staff were gorgeous and so friendly with our 3 year old. We dined in at both restaurants (twice at the Japanese) which was amazing. Thanks so much for having us!

The best hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff are just amazing! SO nice & warm and friendly and there's nothing that's too much to ask. Hotel is absolutely stunning, felt so cultural & historic and it's literally 2 mins walk from the beach. The room was gorgeous - private pool, and cleaning twice a day! Perfect when you've been to the beach and sand goes everywhere. Last thing to mention is the food - just amazing. We don't usually do this, but we ate at the hotel almost every day, so much choice and really great quality food for great prices! Sunset on the roof was amazing whilst eating sushi.

We had a wonderful stay at Tugu. The staff are absolutely lovely and really made this a 5 star review. We checked in quite late and experienced some noise and light pollution in our room and even at the late hour the team moved us to a new room which was also an upgrade. They even proceeded to have us stay there for the duration of our trip. 5 star customer service! Hotel is well located to the beach and beach clubs and walking distance the main spots in the area however this does come with some noise (they do give earplugs in the room). The grounds are beautiful, antique and unique as well as the rooms. You will not find this anywhere else in the world which makes it worth the stay. Breakfast and view from the restaurant and bar is also great. Thank you for making our stay. We can't thank the Tugu team enough. You made our trip!

5 stars experience in Tugu Hotel. The houses definitely had their charms and the location was very convenient. Also absolutely loved their service with a personal touch. It was a birthday trip but we didn’t tell the hotel at all. Imagine our surprise when the staff came knocking on our door with a cake! Will be back again :)

Had the most amazing evening at Hotel Tugu as part of their royal dinner experience. From the moment we arrived the staff were super attentive and warm. This continued the entire time we there there. Special shout out to Putu and Andre for being so friendly and making us feel so welcome. We really did feel like queens! Would definitely recommend for a special experience while in Bali. Thank you all!

We traveled to Tugu for one stop on our Bali honeymoon. It was absolutely incredible! First and most importantly, the staff was amazing - all so friendly and accommodating. They made our stay so special. The location of the hotel is perfect - right next to the beach and easy to walk along the long stretch of cute restaurants and bars. There are a couple louder places nearby which you could hear music from during the day and on the weekends but it wasn’t so bad - just a little juxtaposition of the Tugu atmosphere. The setting is lush and serene and the grounds are kept in pristine condition. The decor was beautiful. We stayed in a Dedari pool suite which was lovely - the bed was very large and extremely comfortable and the rooms have everything you need. There are only 21 accommodations total so it has a very peaceful atmosphere. We enjoyed yoga daily (for a small fee) and the breakfast (included in the room rate) was INCREDIBLE. We are food loving people and they have a ton of options, all delicious. We opted for the private candlelit dinner one night and the staff made it a really special evening in the beautiful lily pond setting. We also tried Ji restaurant on the premises which was very good. We did a few hour spa treatment one day which was wonderful. We would absolutely return to Tugu and highly recommend it for your Canggu stay!

We absolutely loved Hotel Tugu! We started our trip in Bali here for 3 nights and loved it so much we came back again a month later. We had the downstairs room with a private pool. The pool is a little cold but refreshing! The bath is lovely and you can open the windows to a fish pond which is a great experience. Also after spending months travelling around Bali, i can say this was the biggest and most comfortable bed we had! Service is also unquestionable, friendly staff, you can chose a whole selection of breakfast options delivered to your room, housekeeping and fresh water every day. The main pool was always fairly quiet and nice to relax here. The massage was great too. Ji Restaurant (above the hotel) also has the best sushi we tried on the island. 5 stars and hope to visit again soon, thank you 🙏🏼⭐️

Amazing experience. Stayed here for 3 nights (package including airport pickup and 2 pcr tests). The staff arranged everything perfectly; from airport pickup to the testing procedure. The room (including private pool), the breakfast and the staff were more than excellent. Would recommend this hotel to everybody!

The Tugu Bali is so much more than a hotel. The beds are comfy, the service is impeccable, the food is fantastic... but what keeps us coming back is the heritage on display. All the artworks are of genuine historical or artistic importance. Even the food attempts to recreate pre-Puputan Bali. In a country where history is so amnesiac and change is so rapid, this makes the Tugu a proper oasis. It also doesn't hurt that there's a five-star surf break right out front.

The staff and their service was simply the best. The hotel was fantastic and the ambiance was absolutely amazing. The location is perfect just a minute walk to the beach and many great restaurants in walking distance

I stayed in this hotel last month with my partner, We got nothing but mesmerizing experience. Everything was so jaw-dropping, the view, the ambience, the staffs, the food and especially the room. I will definitely come back and recommend this hotel to my family and friends ❤️.

Excellent service, I enjoyed very much my time in your hotel, your staff was very helpful and kind. The rooms and common areas kept an authentic indonesian aestetic that I appreciated a lot. The room (rejang suite and dedari suite) has both fair big space. It was truly a day dreaming experience. Thank you for everything, I hope I will get the chance to come back soon.

Unfortunately the rooms are very old and run down- especially the bath rooms, which is more a 2 star hotel. But I give 4 stars because of the great and nice service. They are really adorable and super helpful. The food was the best breakfast we had on bali. The pool was nice and perfect for a longer swim. The could offer more sun beds. The location of the hotel is very good close to the beach and restaurants. Unfortunately next to the beach club which was noisy on the weekend.

It was the zen escape I didn't know I needed. After nights out in Canggu and getting sick in Gili T, I needed a couple of days of zen and peace to rest and recover. After being well rested and fed, I can take on my next adventure. :) The staff is incredibly nice and professional, the food is fresh and delicious (nothing is oily or overly seasoned), the pool is refreshing, and the room is amazing - it has everything you need. The ambiance and details are Indonesian inspired. Go on and treat yourself for a bit, stay here! Highly recommend. Thank you 🙏😊

Loved our stay at Tugu. This was a hidden gem in Canggu. Everyone who works here was a pure delight. So friendly and welcoming. The location is fantastic! The rooms are a-mazing. So big and private, everything was spotless. The Japanese restaurant on the rooftop serves up (no joke) the best sushi in Bali 10/10 would recommend for couples.

Tugu is a dream hotel. The staff are beyond accommodating, taking care of every need and making you feel welcome every step of the way. The rooms are beautiful (we had one with a private pool) and the food was delicious. Breakfast was a full feast. It's minutes from the beach and is a great location (walking or scooter) from pretty much everything in Canggu. We can't imagine staying anywhere else in Canguu now that we've stayed at Tugu. A real treat - we'll definitely be back!

Lovely hotel, not quite 5 stars though. The culture and history behind it is very interesting and kind of explains the old authentic rooms, however the bathrooms and showers are a bit too authentic (borderline run down). The atmosphere in the hotel itself (gardens, main lobby, restaurants) is very serene and I would definitely recommend it while staying in sleepless Canggu. Unfortunately the hotel is close to the beach club which was noisy at night. However they do provide earplugs 😅 The food is decadent ( specially in Ji restaurants, which I already reviewed separately). Breakfast was also great! The pool was nice and perfect for a longer swim or even a night swim. The location of the hotel is very good close to the beach and restaurants. Overall worthy a 4star review in my opinion

We had a wonderful time here. The hotel nods to tradition and tranquility but sits in a prime location. We built a relationship with the staff over the course of our stay. They were thoughtful, helpful, and quick to respond to anything we needed. Breakfast was included with our stay, and we made use of it each morning on the rooftop overlooking the ocean. We also had dinner here one night during a silent auction the hotel was hosting. The food was very good and the art was great. We used the spa services as well — they were also top notch. Nothing negative to say about Tugu. I have heard that one night a week (maybe Friday) there’s a beach club nearby that stays open pretty late. We never had any issues with noise though and this was something important for us. I’d definitely stay in the Walter Spies Suite again!

We are sadly leaving this absolutely beautiful location, today. The entire venue is simply divine with its history and culture throughout. The staff are so attentive and always greet with a smile and a chat. We have eaten breakfast upstairs at the restaurant every morning as the view is spectacular, and the food which is included in the price of the room, so delicious. We have stayed in the Didari Suite….wow! We have loved it. Private plunge pool, gorgeous bathroom with a pond and such a sense of nature and openness. The bed is huge and incredibly comfortable. It is peaceful at night despite being close to The Lawn….we didn’t hear a thing and have slept beautifully. In fact, we have loved how close Tugu is to The Lawn and not far to La Brisa, great places to just chill for the afternoon, however we have also enjoyed chilling up at the restaurant and watching the spectacular sunsets from there. We cannot fault a thing and will definitely be returning. Thank you to all at beautiful Hotel Tugu. We will be back soon. Matt and Jodi

We didn't stay here but had coffee, breakfast, cocktails, dinner and after dinner drinks here. Gorgeous decor typical of Tugu properties. Great sushi in the restaurant upstairs for sunset views. And a grand lobby with vaulted ceilings which is the inside of a huge thatched roof. Staff is top quality service. Great drinks too. Highly recommended.

Although in need of a little TLC (mainly bathroom), and a little too close to noisy club, giving 5 stars for super friendly and lovely staff and service, very yummy food with vegan options, and such a beautiful place to stay with so much character. Really lovely staff, worth the stay! Now at Hyatt regency which feels bland and dull in comparison.

Tonight we were in the beautiful Tugu hotel in Changgu, Bali. We had a delicious meal and enjoyed traditional dances that were passionately performed. There was a little boy dancing so passionately, it was beautiful. In any other place I would probably be less impressed but the dance with the food and then in this ambiance completed the picture. What a beautiful hotel. It's the oldest hotel in Changgu and it feels like you're stepping back in time over 100 years, completely authentic. And the service we received is also outdated, so good and friendly. We will definitely go back there to spend the night because we would like to experience that too.

Amazing villas, staff were so friendly and hospitable and went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely stay. We had breakfast included and it was delicious every time, good variety and abundance. We also had lunch and dinner a few times and the food was incredible and so beautiful every time. We also attended the Thursday dinner show with traditional dancing which was very interesting to see. The upstairs restaurant/bar has a lovely view of the ocean and is lovely for sunset watching. They have many other activities like yoga (beautiful yoga studio with 4 classes daily), an afternoon tea/coffee tasting, massages , flower decoration workshops and others. It's very close to the beach as well which was a big plus. Honestly can't remember last time I was this impressed by a hotel. Thanks so much for having us and we can't wait to come back!
