The first church, built in the 6th century, has completely disappeared. The first written references to the present basilica date from 925. It has two architectural styles, Romanesque and Gothic. Inside the basilica there is a large organ (just when I walked in it was playing Christmas music, awesome!), of which there are references that already existed in 1637, considered one of the oldest in the French Midi.

That’s a beautiful ancient cathedral. I wish I could visit a concert here to listen to classical music.

A little but very pretty church, nice to see from both inside and outside. It reminded me a lot of the Notre Dame of Paris though it's a lot smaller. The very old stained glass windows are very nice and the pictures cannot capture the beauty. It is ideally located next to the end of the Comtal Castle tour and free to visit.

It is a Roman Catholic minor basilica located in the citadel of Carcassonne. Was built in 12th century in the Gothic-Romanesque architectural tradition. The main entrance in its north wall is formed by a Romanesque portal of five receding arches over two doors.

I truly don’t know how to rate a church. It’s clean and beautiful, it’s dark and smells funny.

Absolutely beautiful church. It is a marriage between the Romanesque and Gothic styles. Take special note of the glass stained windows!

Beautiful from the inside. Quite and peaceful with amazing gothic architecture and big coloured glass which illuminates the chirch from the inside. You are expected to dress modestly and no animals are allowed inside.

Located in the heart of the city, this church is a magnificent example of Gothic architecture. The interior is beautifully decorated with stained glass windows. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene, and the church is a great place to relax and reflect. It is definitely worth a visit if you are in Carcassonne.

If you are in Toulouse, take a time to visit this church, really beautiful from outside and inside. The interior is beautiful, they kept the original walls and the art inside is definitely worth it to see.

Church is interesting, although if you've seen others in Europe, it does pale to the old city of carcassonne itself.

Beautiful building. Formerly a cathedral but no longer has a resident bishop so has been given the honorific title of a basilica. Not only are the contents attractive it is a fine place to sit for a while on a hot summer day and cool down and unwind.Inspiring place to visit even if you are not religious.

The Basilica is a very beautiful one, with the fire painted windows and the whole architecture, its really a gem. For the windows, there are quite few of them and all with different images in them. Amazing to look at how the lights comes through and radiates the space with colours. As well as discovering all the different images in them. While some churches lavish in abundance, this one is really basic and because of the, so beautiful. Really worth a visit, besides the whole castle/medieval city where it is located of course.

By far... one of the most beautiful and impressive Basilique I have ever seen! And I have seen a lot 😉 including St Peters Rome, St Vitus Prague, St Stephen Vienna, Notre Dame Paris... There is something mystical and magical about this place! Perhaps the fact that it is within the medieval cité of Carcassonne.

Great architecture, a mix of romanic & gothic as it was built in different era. Carcassone is a medieval town that history started as early as Roman time.

The Basilica of Saints Nazarius. A medieval fortress that has evolved into a traditional old town. Beautiful!

Much like Carcasonne overwhelmed by tourists. The cathedral itself is alright but even inside its somewhat commercialized.

I've visited Carcassonne several times during my travels in France. Each time, we also visited this beautiful church. The stained glass, and inside architecture are awe inspiring.

A very nice but obviously crowded place. If you want to pray, try the Cathedral.

Beautiful cathedral, always enjoy just wandering in whenever we visit the city. This time we took a moment to light a candle to bless our wedding anniversary. It felt very special.

Gorgeous church interiors. I was fascinated by the details of the stained glass.

Actually, old churches are always a place of refreshment in summer. In 2022 it was almost 28°C inside here. Probably also because of the thousands of tourists who bring in the heat from outside.
