Three course lunch menu is a great deal (available before 6pm). Fried whitebait for a starter, ox cheek pappardelle or fish cake as the main and treat yourself with a tiramisu (full of aroma of wine)! All the staff wear masks and you can find the alcohol disinfectant machine at the entrance and upstairs, which made me feel quite safe for dining in. Overall - Good restaurant, nice staff, delicious Welsh/Italian cuisine with a good portion, highly recommended! Eat out to help out! (7 months ago)

Cozy little restaurant in Llandaff, a short walk from the impressive Llandaff Cathedral. Brunch was tasty (the homemade beans were delicious) Reasonably priced, prompt service and friendly staff.

We had breakfast here and the food was nice. Like the decor of the restaurant which reminded many cities I had visited in Italy.

Breakfast was fairly minimal ingredient wise, but lots wrong with it. Rock hard sourdough toast, greasy tomatoes and mushrooms, egg yolk cooked through, tasty sausage but it's tiny, the bacon was really nice. Good Service, good initial presentation and nice coffee but the breakfast really didn't hit the mark for me and it has to be better at this price point!

Amazing tasting pizza! And a lovely atmosphere with very kind staff. Also, the breakfast menu is great - I personally recommend their scrambled eggs on toast! The drinks are lovely, and the good is exquisite. One hundred percent I would recommend Porro. Although, it can get quite busy, so if you want to be sure that you will get a table I would advise that you book ahead. Oh, and the kid's birthday parties that they do are great!

Really great experience. Lovely polite staff, beautiful ambient feel. Menu nice, minimum choice, but Food outstanding.we had lamb and chicken. This explains the lesser menu, quality over quantity. The sticky toffee was stunning too.Would definitely recommend and definitely be back.

Amazing food, the arancini had a lovely texture, the spinach ravioli sauce was tich and creaky, and the torte was the perfect finish. The only downside is that it was a bit dark as we were sat in a back corner, while the tables in the window were free. Otherwise really lovely

We had dinner here last night, 4 people ordered 4 different meals, and all of them tasted excellent!! The service was super personable, professional and perfectly timed. Thank you Porro team! 😊

Really impressed by this restaurant. We were lucky to get a table for Sunday brunch and it was great - the bacon was especially good and crispy! Lovely atmosphere and a good price overall with quick and friendly service. A proper gem!

Lovely restaurant, serving delicious food. We have been here several times and always had great food and service. My young kids were welcomed, served quickly and really enjoyed their pizzas.

I booked a table of 10 here to celebrate my partners birthday. She loved it as did the rest of the family. The food and the service from Karolina was great all the way through. There was a slight hiccup with one of the meals but this was rectified by management immediately. It didn’t spoil the meal or the experience and we were very impressed overall on the day. We’ll be coming back in the near future.

Really great place to meet as a group, (good spaces upstairs). Very reasonable lunch menu offer and the food was gorgeous. The staff are friendly and helpful too. Will definitely be going back :-)

Our second time to this restaurant- first visit was exceptional but sadly this evening we felt forgotten about! We were sat upstairs, food was outstanding again but level of service was not good - at the end they were cleaning downstairs and did not bring our bill, am sure they had totally forgotten we were there! Such a shame as this tainted our experience and right now I feel we will not rush back

Family of 7 enjoyed a really lovely Sunday lunch for father's day. Freshly cooked, good quality with a good choice of vegetables. Desserts were small. Service relaxed. Will return..... Did return for a Saturday lunch with friends. Really good food and value. Relaxed staff who were friendly and let us chat after our meal.

I hadn’t been to Porto for a while, I forgot just how nice it is after today’s lunch. We had the two-course lunch menu for a reasonable £18.95. The pizza florentina with leek, spinach and smoked cheese was lovely as was the sticky toffee pudding. We sat upstairs which I liked as it’s a bit quieter than downstairs and bright and airy. The service was friendly and helpful. Baby changing’s available in the disabled toilet downstairs, at the back of the restaurant.

My wife visited with her sister and both enjoyed the two course set lunch. However they were horrified to be charged £5-95 for a soda water to go with a175ml glass of white wine £7-75. How can the company justify £13-70 for a wine with some fizzy water. It definitely left a bad taste for an otherwise enjoyable visit. I am pleased to report that the Management have contacted us and refunded the overpayment due to an error on the part of a new member of staff.

Beautiful restaurant with lovely staff and amazing food. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for. 😍

This is a hidden gem near the Llandaff Cathedral, an exquisite italian restaurant with the best, richest welsh twist that can be. Comfort food meets elegant presentation. Great friendly but also refined service, and each course was a delight. We were a large party, so we had a lot of different dishes, and everyone had only praises. Deserts are perfectly balanced, have two if you can. Top with the best grappa I ever had. Do not miss while in Cardiff.

I've been going to Porro for a few years now and it's always brilliant - the brunch is nice, dinner is lovely and the Sunday roast is to die for. There's a really good wine selection and plenty of cocktails to choose from too. My wife says that they have the best sticky toffee pudding going but I'm more partial to the tiramisu which is outrageously good.

15th Dec First time visit to this excellent restaurant, good choice on lunch menu - we had arancini and whitebait to start, sea bream and ravioli for main with chunkiest chips I've ever seen, warm olive ciabatta..then to finish off some gorgeous tiramisu - acceptable no rush time between courses, I certainly will be returning!

Came here for an impromptu meal the week before Christmas. We hadn't pre-booked but were warmly welcomed and shown to a table upstairs straightaway. Service was great all throughout and the food was fantastic. The lamb was melt-in-the-mouth. Partner says the ox ragu was delicious too and the desserts left everyone satisfied. Will be returning

Cannot fault the service in this place! It was amazing , waitress was really friendly and professional and amazing with our 5 year old. The food was just delicious, the 2 course lunch menu is excellent value for money! The wild mushroom ravioli was superb!!! I will be recommending this place 100%.

starter & main courses for both of us were not very good, not even average. My main, Mushroom Ravioli was way to salty. We both enjoyed the desserts. The service at the table was very good. Atmosphere was okay? Pity, as we both had heard that Porro was above average but this was not our experience so I would not return.

disappointing to say the least… the food was bland and dry and the prices were far too high for the quality. the two stars are purely for the presentation of the food and the lovely staff!

Third visit here. Very good, freshly made, proper Italian food with a Welsh twist. Not over priced either. Had the chicken supreme special. Fabulous sauce. Fourth visit is pending.

Fabulous service today! Tabitha was a wonderful host to our party. Food was also delicious! We made the most of the rooftop terrace for drinks and a private area for a birthday celebration. Will definitely be back again soon!

We recently celebrated our 50th anniversary with family at Porro. This was our first visit and it definitely won't be the last. The food was superb, all beautifully cooked and presented. All staff were so helpful and cheerful. A busy yet cosy restaurant, ambience was perfect. We all felt very relaxed. Can't wait to go again. Thank you for treating us so well.

Have not even sat down for our meal yet! So impressed with how accommodating Porros have been with trying to fit two extra people onto our table at such late notice, Alex made such an effort to think outside the box and help us out. Thanks so much, and we are looking forward to sitting down this afternoon! 5* customer service.

Superb food and courteous staff. We had the pork belly which was delicious and a good size and the Ox cheek carbonara which was delectable. Highly recommended. Lovely wine too!

Terrific grub, very friendly and beautifully appointed place. But you do have to ask for the vegan/gluten free menu if you need it

I have been to Porro for both an evening meal and brunch recently, the food was amazing both times and the staff were super friendly, they went out of their way to accommodate us! Will defo be back again soon! It’s really reasonably priced too, for such a great experience.

As a new food experience I could not fault the service, the restaurant is cosy and intimate, the staff could not be more helpful, not pushy but respecting us as diners. The food was outstanding and the chef/s are accomplished. On any return visit to Cardiff I will certainly eat here again, and would highly recommend it, thank you.

We had a 60th birthday party last night and the service was excellent. The ladies and gents at Porro were on top form and good hosts! The food was also fantastic so I’m looking forward to going back. Thanks for a great evening!

Calamari was excellent and the marina sauce paired really well. Ox cheek tagliatelle was very nice as well. Simone was a wonderful host and made my 25th birthday extra special! Will definitely be coming again!!

Mind the food is Italian inspired, but I wouldn't say is Italian if you're looking for a canonical experience. Still, excellent pasta, very nice and friendly service. Prices a bit on the steep side but ok considering location and quality of ingredients.

Oh my god. The food here is INSANE. 🤤🤤 It's a new favourite for us for sure. I think a lot of it is locally sourced where it can be too which is always a big plus. The muscles and arranchini balls were to die for. In a sea of very average Italian restaurants that don't do justice to their roots this place is a real treasure. It absolutely blew us away. Reasonably priced, good drink selection, the wait staff friendly and attentive without being too much and the puddings smashed it out the park. Upmost compliments to the chef, you are a culinary magician.

Great food, lovely atmosphere and great staff. Kids devoured the spaghetti and meatballs and loved the homemade chocolate ice-cream. The sea bass fish of the day was delicious. They also serve really good Yorkshire puddings with the mains on a Sunday which is always good to see!

Recently had Sunday lunch here - a delicious roast - for the first time. Great range of seating options - pavement terrace, two floors inside and a small roof terrace. Lovely and cool inside on a ferociously hot day, friendly staff, and very reasonable prices. Glad to have it near home!

  • 4/5 Keith I. 2 years ago on Google
Really good food and served in a timely manner. If we could have gone on the upstairs roof garden would have been 5 stars. Sadly not enough staff to do that so we sat on the pavement table and people watched
