Pretty underwhelming really. We did Atomic Agency and all the puzzles were quite predictable. For the price of £25pp it's not worth it, I've done cheaper escape rooms which were harder and more creative. Plus what the hell is with the £8 online booking fee? Instead of having 4 escape rooms, maybe have 2 with multiple rooms as part of each escape?

Not a good escape room, as others have said the banging music is off putting. Not even worth the price for the groupon deal. I have done most of the escape rooms in cardiff, this is my least favourite. Nice helpful lady showed us into the room, also came back to give us a clue, which was great, next time we asked for a clue, a man came in and he was new and couldn't really help as did not know the room, and at the end I'm used to staff explaining what we missed if we did not manage to escape, he couldn't do that as he did not know, not a good experience really such a shame as its meant to he fun but it wasn't and the room was boring

Worst escape room ever. Came for a birthday treat terribly disappointed even at the discounted rate. There was no clue video I stead someone would come I to the room if you presser q buzzer . He was always ages working between his other job in the main bar . Understandably when he got the he was unenthused and inconvenienced . They shouldn't be taking money if they aren't going yo resource the game properly . Not only this but the place was very noisy which made the experience worse

Obviously can't give much away here. Great venue with lots to do while you are waiting. 6 of us had a few frames at one of the two bowling lanes; there is also a pool table and the all important bar. Worth a visit (but don't expect an Oscar performance from the bar staff when you have your brief)

Great hidden little gem. We only went bowling and enjoyed the games. Enjoyed our time thank you.

This is the worst escape room I have ever paid GOOD money for. £50 for 2 people because no-one answered the phone so I couldn't do the price match (convenient). The man who showed us in was lovely, the lady who gave us a hint halfway through was rude and miserable. Plenty of broken items in there and I could've made a more creative room in a derelict toilet with a pack of Sharpies. The sound from the pumping club music, bar, bowling and snooker was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think and we had to shout to converse. A foul mouthed fight in the club really set the tone of the place, an awful venue to bring children. No torches so were told to use our phones and the iPad was locked and needed replacing. Absolutely horrendous and ruined what was supposed to be a nice night out. £50 is a LOT of money to essentially throw away and I'm really disappointed. Wish I had seen all these bad reviews before booking 😕

My family and I got an offer on Groupon to come here for a birthday. The tasks and puzzles were really well thought out and clever. We enjoyed working as a team to solve each part but we're also grateful of having the option to call for clues if needed. We will certainly be back on the future in order to have a go at the other tasks offered.

I recently tried the escape room atomic agency, and I must say it was a disappointment. First of all, the noise from the bar next door was incredibly distracting, making it hard to concentrate on the puzzles. The decoration inside the room was lackluster and unimpressive, and the puzzles themselves were uninspiring, with the majority of them revolving around locker combinations. The only redeeming aspect was the friendly staff, but that alone won't entice me to return. We won't be attempting another escape room at that location. Don't waste your money!

Escape room - wasn't great, I've done a few very recently and this one (Atomic Agency) felt like there was no effort put into it at all. Really minimal decoration, thumping music from the bowling and loads of drunk people shouting, really distracting from solving puzzles. The doors to the rooms are literally less then 5 meters from the bowling pins. Almost couldn't get in as I needed ID so just note that. The clock is a little kitchen timer and hints are people coming in the room which I wasn't particularly fussed on. Just feels like they chucked it in to make money but definitely NOT worth £50 for two people...rather disappointed

very challenging, but me and my friend had great fun, and todd was an excellent host - both very witty and willing to provide just the right amount of hints Will definitely come back in the new year ... tho perhaps for an easier room

Worst escape room I've ever been to. Badly organised and staff weren't very helpful or friendly. Would not recommend.

My first experience of an escape room and I really enjoyed. I had a cut price ticket, am not sure I'd pay full price

We dropped in and took on the Atomic Agency as a group of 2. Never having done an escape room before we were interested to see what they're like and I have to say I was very disappointed. We didn't pre-book so only the harder Atomic Agency was available but we're always up for a challenge so paid our £25 each to attempt it. We were shown into the room which is directly off the bar/bowling area and given a brief introduction and left to it. The room looked very tatty and needed some updating, I appreciate that some people are rough on the room but it was like playing in a run down public toilet. You could hear the bar music and activities outside all the time, and in the second room you could hear another group laughing through the wall (glad someone was having fun). 90% of the puzzles were combination locks, which seemed very basic for the money we paid. All of the clue sheets and pieces of laminated paper available were very tatty, like they had been ran over by cars on a motorway. The general decor was very run down, tape hanging off the walls and holes and damage everywhere, not what you expect for the money we had paid. You could press a Bluetooth buzzer to call for help, we did a couple of times and had to press it more than once to get a response (they said there were 3 staff available between the 4 rooms). We failed and time ran out but no one came to see us, we let ourselves out and hung about for a few mins but no one came to see how it went, very very poor service. Overall we're massively disappointed with the experience, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and will avoid City Mazes and Escape Rooms in future. (Before you say it like the other responses, we didn't pre-book so you won't have our details and we don't need to speak to anyone about it).

Speak the plain truth; call a spade a spade; tell it as it is. For the first experience on here compare with other Escape Rooms,is not worth the price. 4 x Adults £100 The Decor & Design was very low. Employee Efficiency & Courtesy can’t be describe.

Was really fun, they have multiple selections and different levels of difficulty. Price per person is £25 and we choose Stranger things theme. I'd go again. Staff is very kind, especially the guy that helped us get started. I'm bad with names ,but for future references i will try to remember.

Did the Atomic Agency escape room here. Got a good deal through Wowcher but was a bit of a pain to book. The room wasn't ready when we arrived, but the staff gave us a free drink of our choice whislt we waited which was appreciated. The room itself felt a bit worn out and lower quality than other escape rooms. The puzzles were still interesting and challenging though. It was also quite low tech, to get a clue a member of staff had to actually enter the room to help us, rather than displaying the clue on a screen or talking over a speaker. This made the room feel less immersive. The room was located at the side of a bar, so quite noisy outside and I think random people walking past knocked the door once or twice, which was annoying.

We book last year but we had to cancel, due to the current situation, so after a year we finally got to do my bestie hen party , staff were amazing in rebooking, and all the alterations we had to make ,plus on the night , again they were fantastic to make her night special thank you 😊

really nice friendly workers & also very enthusiastic , Good escape rooms did “ the runner” very detailed and clever , it was challenging so we needed a couple of hints but not so hard that you’d have no idea, you can have help available whenever you need it , it was very fun

Booked because the other escape room in cardiff was full, but was completely let down. It was about £25 per person, which was ridiculously overpriced for the quality of room you get- but the staff were friendly and helpful.

Completely overpriced, and the worst escape room I have ever been to. The gamemaster was clearly intoxicated and couldn't care less. I understand he had to run multiple rooms/games at once, but that doesn't justify the cost of the experience. After requesting a hint, he took over 10 minutes to respond. We never saw the gamemaster again after him giving the hint, even when the 60 minute timer had finished. We waited for over 15 minutes at the end before letting ourselves out of the room, only to see the gamemaster smoking outside. Our room was the Atomic Agency room. Loud music from the bar was highly distracting and the props and rooms were sub-par. Puzzles definitely had potential, but poorly executed and faulty, and with a lack of diversity (all combination locks). Please do not go here, not even as a time killer. It is simply not worth the money. Maybe it was better before relocating to Play at Pins, but it certainly isn't good now.

Honestly if you want a great experience of an escape room don’t come here. Firstly, you can hear all the music and people outside of the room. There isn’t any scary or thrilling atmosphere. Secondly, if you get stuck and want a clue you have to press a button which ‘should’ call someone to come and help. We did this twice, first time it took our ‘game master’ 15 minutes to come. The second time he didn’t come at all and the time ended up being over. We then had to use the emergency exit button to call him over to say the time had finished (we had been waiting for 10 minutes). Finally, we had solved all the clue apart from the code to get out with about 30 minutes to go. To solve the last part you do a puzzle which gives you a number in a certain colour and you have something else which gives you the order of the coloured numbers. However, one part of the code didn’t match because the number we received was purple and on the sheet which had the order the symbol was red. We wasted our time trying to find something with a red number on it. When we ask the ‘game master’ about it, he just said it’s basically the same, referring to bright purple and red being the same colour!! This understandable threw us off. If the ‘game master’ had shown up when we called him, we would have gotten out but when he eventually decided to turn up his watch which the button sends a signal to had ‘died’. Honestly, don’t waste your time coming here for an escape room. You could possibly get over the first two thing but to not have clues matching to be able to escape is very very poor. It’s not even worth a 1 star rating.

I came yesterday to the escape room subject 11 for a birthday for my best friend, unfortunately one way or another it didn't go as booked, we paid for bowling, plus the escape room plus free drinks to arrive and a photo at the end, and possibly a pizza but can't remember about the last bit so not bothered about that, it only took us 23 minutes to escape which is fine as I love puzzles and clues and so I was able to figure everything out quickly, but we didn't get the photo, nor were we going to get the bowling, I will admit it was not the fault of the venue as they can only go off what's on their system, but it took them 3 hours after our escape room to ring the boss as there's no manager to talk to, and it was eventually sorted, but we still had to pay for our first drinks and then had a pizza for free which to me was the most disappointing thing as by this point we were all starving and was looking forward to something to eat, but it took 25 minutes to cook and was Luke warm and all I could taste was dough rather than the flavour, I unfortunately won't be returning and I won't be recommending the pizza to anyone especially at £10 a pizza for a 12inch! And drinks for 5 people came to £20! I don't know exactly who was at fault for the whole experience but it felt like the staff yesterday were clueless on exactly what we booked even tho we showed our booking email, and the head office were just as unhelpful due to obviously not being in the venue to talk to us all properly it was all done over a mobile phone with music loud in the background, I understand it might be a new thing in Cardiff but at least have someone working who can actually sort out the issues quickly, it shouldn't take 3 hours for it to finally get sorted and the staff ended up feeling harassed when all we wanted was what we paid for and with no waits in between when it wasn't even busy, it it was 6pm and busy I'd understand but they'd only just opened and we did the room in 23 minutes so we were still the only ones there with bookings
