Service was an act to be nice on a discrimination feeling, several times we were ignored and pretended we were not there. The gentleman looking after our table was rough upon just slamming the food on the table. The food came out on presentation wise like homemade dishes. I can do better at home! Especially the crisp pork belly for $42 was seriously unacceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.

This place is on the upper end of the price bracket for a restaurant and bar. But not quite as fancy in terms of food quality and service. The ambiance is nice and cozy. Modern Australian style of food. There are plenty of pescetarian options. However, the acoustics of the hall leaves much to be desired. It gets rather noisy, so having a conversation during your dinner or lunch is not as easy. The food was decent but by no means exceptional. We found bones in our fish fillet, which was a bit of a disappointment. A nice place overall, despite all the above.

It was an enjoyable night, the cocktails were good and the service. But the food was a let down. It had all the making of a fine dine restaurant except the food, which is the most important party to get right. Would love to give the place another try some day. Wouldn’t write it off yet. Hope the food quality pics up.

The service was lovely, staff were so kind and knew a lot about the menu. I loved my but linguine but wasn't wowed. I've spent similar amounts at other places and the food was on another level. I did love the atmosphere and the venue.

Those who've read my reviews would know the amount of times I've started a review with "the menu read well"...suffice to say I'm back at it again! 1908 sits in a side street off the main Cronulla mall... nestled amongst and around a throng of eateries (particularly in the Gerale St precinct). Six of us descended on a balmy Sunday afternoon...hungry and determined to find "good food" for a late lunch, and having passed 1908 on occasion we agreed to wander in. (We ranged in size from petite to my 194cm Navy colleague!) Like I said, the menu read very well. Impressively so. It's not often I find myself undecided between five different dishes! The prices are quite good, however unless you want a steak sitting alone on a plate, a chunk of brown @ $35.. the added cost of buying accompanying vegetables etc soon adds up..(I thought that practice died out in the early 2000s??). Between us we selected a decent variety, from their Redfish to Pumpkin Gnocchi to the Lamb Shoulder, salads and vegetables, with a couple of starter plates of Roti. Roti was good, yet as a "share plate" it was extremely minimal. It came with a chutney which had the sharpest taste...(I'd say piquant if it hadn't crossed the line to over poweringly sour!). The Redfish was excellent, although again the serving is quite small. Lamb Shoulder was superb, and yes small in serving size. Gnocci lacked flavour, but worse, it sat isolated in a small creamy pile without a single accompanying ingredient that would add colour. Yes, we eat with our eyes. Both ladies who ordered it immediately commented on it's lack of seasoning and it's entree sized serving. At $33 it was a big ask to justify. An elongated, slightly bigger than hand sized dish of vegetables will set you back around $14 which adds substantially to the overall cost. A similar dish with honeyed baby carrots would be a single serve in any other restaurant, yet will set you back another $14. (For some reason the waiter tried to impress upon us that these side dishes were "share plates"..as in "would you like some side dishes for the table?".) The answer is NO..I'd like some accompanying ingredients WITH my dish, as in, alongside or included in the presentation. There were a couple of issues with incorrect dishes but a favourable point was that most dishes arrived for ALL of us within an acceptable time (pet hate ..eating while others wait interminably for their meals!). Desserts sounded interesting albeit the usual suspects of Panna Cotta, Mousse etc... However the serving size was eye poppingly small...!! Overall (once we readjusted the Bill) the final tally wasn't shocking. However the general consensus was a slight lacking in presentation, portion size and a seeming focus on attempting to present a certain class of restaurant that the produce and staff couldn't attain. In essence, a pretentiousness that wasn't nor isn't necessary. Again...that's just our experience and it's not that common for businesses to necessarily take notice of comments that are even slightly unfavourable.

We had mothers' day lunch booked and told that $40 per person deposit is required upon booking which we paid. Although food was OK we were not advised that it was fixed menu only for that day hence we were basically forced to have what was on the fixed menu. It seems that the no one even bothered to remove product bar codes from cutlery before bringing them to the table, not just an odd one, multiple knives had it. It seems that more attention is needed..

The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of flavors that delighted our taste buds. We highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion!

Tried this place because of the Groupon deal. Half the dishes on the menu were subject to an additional $10 per person and sides were extra costs as well. The waiter keep trying to hardsell us to order more things like entree and sides saying that the octopus dish can be oily and suggested us to order some salad to balance it out. That was a red flag to me, a dish should be balanced by itself. I think the food is trying to be western Thai fusion style but wasn't amazing just ok. Paid extra for the seared tuna and seared scallops which are average, have tasted better in many other places elsewhere. Pan fried fish was the highlight with interesting coconut sauce but on the sweet side and not very balanced. Octopus was tasteless, super oily and imbalanced, the baked potato with it was actually tastier than the octopus. Great atmosphere though. Won't be back though. Food just isn't great and the hardselling was such a turnoff.

Fantastic food, AAA+ service, all round great. The steak was absolutely beautiful, perfectly cooked, juicy and tender, on top of creamy mash with the best tasting meaty mushroom ever, and spinach. Squid ink pasta with mussels and prawns was delicious as well.

Bought the Groupon voucher but if you want to upgrade some of the dishes need to pay extra like oyster, stake~ Overall, food is good, good value for money.

Honestly the perfect place. We went in with no reservation after a booking in the area getting cancelled on us. We got a table, place is super clean, nice relaxed atmosphere. Food came out super quick, everything was delicious. We had 4 different cocktails, all amazing. Our waiter was super nice. Then the bill came out way cheaper than what I was prepared for. I'd go back any time.

From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a warm fire on a cold winters night. A lady said hello and came to show us to our table. We had pumpkin gnocci and rocket pear parmeson salad...best combo! Then aracini balls with remaining large salad we shared. Margaritas were great and Mairie Antoinette cocktail with fairy floss yummm! Desert was great ending at the bar with the fairy floss cocktail. Waiters/waitresses were top notch.. service and personalities. THANK YOU FOR A MEMORABLE EVENING! WE WILL BE BACK.

We were so impressed with the service at 1908! Super friendly, prompt, polite and all with a smile. The food was great and ambience lovely. Hot tip, get the chips!! We saw the child next to us with them, so we ordered them too and ended up a great choice!

We loved our lunch at 1908! Great vibe, beautiful surroundings, excellent service and delicious food. We will be back. Great event venue too if you're looking to host your next celebration, located an easy walk from local parking station. (In addition to meals shown there was another eye fillet, two entrees and 2 bottles of wine, shared amongst 4).

Love the menu and the décor. It was a quick walk from the station so we didn't need to drive the car. Quality food and service. Close to the beach which is so lovely for a stroll after dinner. We had a lovely evening.

Yum! What a delicious night out. Restaurant and staff were friendly and welcoming. They were on top of offerings and recommendations. Didn’t let the drinks go empty. Great night out dining. Somewhat pricey but food tasted great.

My wife and I ordered off the menu and shared all. We had two entrees (oysters and swordfish carpaccio); two mains (octopus and Balmain bug tagiletelli) and a side (broccoli in Ponzi). Everything was, frankly, awesome. We also had both the chilli mojito and chilli Margherita....both terrific. Amazing food, great service. Thank you!

We recently had our cocktail style wedding reception for 120 people at this incredible venue. Everything was perfect. The food was generous and delicious. The service and the staff were so good at what they do. The venue looked amazing. Perfect location for a wedding reception. It made our day the best it could have been. Thank you 1908!

I thought it was a great restaurant. The food was a little different but really lovely. They went for different flavours and combinations but it was really good to try a creative menu. The portions were perfect but the best thing about it was the staff. Friendly, attentive, polite and thoughtful. All in all a great local restaurant.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
