This place is disgusting. There are mysterious stains on the walls, floors, tables, and even the bed. I woke up with bug bites everywhere. The curtains we had in our living room don’t even work, what’s the point of privacy? The rooms were also very poorly built, having uneven walls, not putting effort in finishing them and making them look smooth. Overall the hotel is nice, just the rooms are very disgusting.

arrived and was informed the private hotel beaches had been closed for over a year with no warning beforehand, the beach was a 6 block walk from the hotel, check in took hours and it took even longer to receive our luggage, reception desk employees were rude and unhelpful, AC in the room did not work neither did the safe, would not recommend the experience it is not the same as it was years ago.

The hotel is very beautiful but The reservation pages are very complicated and delayed and have many errors. They have good customer service because the food is always fresh and delicious, the customer service at the bars is very good, Personally, I recommend the piña colada. The service is good but the staff keep a bad face. The pool is nice although it closes early. The beaches around are very dirty, This is not the hotel's problem but it still affects comfort.

During my trip the city was hit by a really big rain season so we were forced to stay inside the hotel for most of the weekend. Due to this we noticed lots of big problem in maintenance. Leaks everywhere in the social areas like restaurants and bar. Walkways would flood and water would get into the rooms. Also social areas are way too small for the amount of people that can stay in the hotel. Yes you can drink a lot, but, if your cramped into a small place, them you really can't enjoy it. Rooms are a mix of remodeled and old like the ac control that was so old that it's didnt work most of the time (sin e it rained most the time this didn't affect much) Beach in from of the hotel is currently being worked to prevent fold Ng so.. .you can't use it. Staff was really nice and attentive

Hotel is old, but clean. The air conditioner in the room was old and barely could keep up with the heat. The staff was very friendly and helpful but very few spoke English. But we are in their country. The only real downside was all the stairs to go to the pool, the dining room, lobby bar and snack bar.

The staff in this place was great. They're always welling to help and very friendly. The hotel it self is clean, spacious, the view from my room (1911) was beautiful. Highly recommend if you coming to Cartagena as well as Baru Decameron, a paradise!!!!

I forgot to mention. When it rains the water fills the walking areas of the building. I can't imagine older folks.

Don’t waste time and money at this hotel, need a lot of maintenance, the food is so bad, then I can believe visit Cartagena and I'm not able to drink a decent coffee, the room has a weird smell, the hotel is so old and ugly, not feel welcome at all not room service and they have time for everything and get covid as an excuse for horrible service.is very say a picture of Cartagena don't believe in this picture and I don't understand why this hostel has 4.3 stars. Because this place is simply horrible. If you go to Cartagena rent a nice hotel boutique in the center and didn't have to pay for Uber and walk around. Don't stay at Decameron is bad.

I had a bad experience The rooms are nasty nothing to what I was expecting in the photos as of 22 August 2022 and for about 2 years they will not have a beach in front of the Hotel due to construction if you want a 2 star room with a 4 star food menu that is the place. I was disappointed with the room not even one picture took of the inside of the room... beautiful view from the valcony

Our Decameron experience in Cartagena was a big improvement from San Andres. We were given a printed out, unique wifi code upon checkout in at 8am, a booklet and explanation of the activities and the app was actually kept up to date with what was going on which was a first for us! By 10am waiting for the room to be available at 3pm, we were waiting by the pool and one of the men from our front remembered our names, came out to find us and told us our room was ready, then collected our bags and guided us there. Any other Decameron would have forgotten we existed and waited until we asked again, likely at 3pm. We were given a room overlooking the ocean and beachfront of all Cartagena which was an amazing view. The night time entertainment was involving and there were activities by the pool all throughout the day. Staff were friendly in the meal area and across the hotel. On the downside, there was a lot of black mould on the mirror in the room, ceiling and the shower tap would fall off, also not generating hot water. There were maggots outside the room and it was not a clean place. The side elevator was old and felt unsafe too buttons not working. We could loudly hear the music until 11pm in the room which would have been an issue with children and then from inside the hotel until 2am. It’s not a place to relax. We were unlucky that the beach was closed, mugs had cracks in them unhygenically and there was less food variety than other places (we loved the self serve though). At a busy time of year we would not have been able to find a seat. The bus driver to Baru at 1pm on 30/12/22 was extremely dangerous and aggressive, near missing several crashes and having his window open to yell at other drivers. So it was a more friendly, well run place… but there’s significant things to work on too.

For the value, the hotel was great. The hotel appears to be upgrading rooms to a new concept. The staff was great and was very helpful if there were any issues. The security was top-notch and managed the door to only allow guests with rooms. The food was ok. The steak restaurant on site was great and the Italian restaurant was good. The pool was great, and the bars were great. I would recommend the hotel for value.

Mixed Stay Experience at Decameron Hotel I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Decameron Hotel and wanted to share my thoughts on the experience. While there were certainly positive aspects, there were a few areas that left much to be desired. Firstly, the rooms were not up to the standard I had expected. The building itself appeared to be in need of significant upgrades, and this was particularly noticeable in the rooms. The AC system also seemed to require better maintenance, as it didn't quite deliver the comfort we were hoping for. However, I must commend the night shift General Manager, Alexander, who was incredibly attentive and accommodating. He was quick to address our concerns and even provided our family with a better room. While the AC in the new room was an improvement, it still needed some fine-tuning. Despite the issues with the facilities, the level of service provided by the staff was commendable. The staff remained professional and attentive throughout our stay, which helped alleviate some of the discomfort caused by the room and AC situation. One area that I believe could use improvement is the food service. While the quality of food was decent, there was a lack of options, especially for kids. It would be beneficial to introduce extra food services, particularly during the afternoon and evening times, to cater to families and individuals with varying dining preferences. The location of the hotel was convenient, with the beach being a walking distance away. However, it was slightly inconvenient that the front beach was closed down during our stay. In conclusion, I believe that with a significant upgrade to the AC systems and a remodel of the building, the Decameron Hotel could provide a much better overall experience. Despite the challenges, the reasonable price point does make it a recommended option for travelers seeking an affordable stay.

Experience at Decameron Hotel I recently stayed at the Decameron Hotel and wanted to share my experience. While the stay had its ups and downs, there were some notable points worth mentioning. Firstly, I must say that the rooms were not up to the standard I had anticipated. The building itself could use some significant upgrades, and the AC system was in dire need of attention. It struggled to maintain a comfortable temperature, which impacted our overall comfort during the stay. However, I must commend the night shift general manager, Alexander, for his efforts in accommodating our family. He provided us with a better room, though even here, the AC system needed some improvement. The service, despite the challenging circumstances, was professional and attentive. The staff did their best to ensure our needs were met, and I appreciate their dedication. One aspect that needs serious improvement is the availability of extra food services, especially for children. It would be highly beneficial to have better timing or options throughout the afternoon and evening to cater to families with kids. One significant inconvenience was the lack of accurate information on the website about the closure of the front beach. Although the beach was within walking distance, it was an unexpected disappointment as the front beach was closed during our stay. Overall, the stay at Decameron Hotel was a mixed bag. I would recommend it for its affordable price, but there are clear areas that need attention. If the AC system is upgraded and the building is remodeled, the experience would undoubtedly be much improved. While the current state of the hotel leaves something to be desired, the potential for a great stay is certainly there.

The transportation to the hotel from the airport was great. After we checked in the room they gave us smelled like mold, toilet was leaking, both air conditioners were half working, one was leaking water. We asked for a new room. They sent a worker who said he can fix the air conditioners but we had to leave the room for some time. We quickly said no we just got back from a 5 hour city your and had to get ready for dinner reservations. They said to talk to a supervisor who quickly just gave us a new room which was very much more acceptable. Decor in the rooms could be better but the food and drinks were good. There is a pharmacy/store around the corner (similar to a CVS/Walgreens) which was great as well.

Service is very good, staff is very attentive and friendly, food is good. The hotel administration doesn't advise that the front beaches are close due to a construction, they don't provide transportation for different and clean beaches even though they don't have one for the hotel .You must walk six blocks to the nearest beach, which is crowded and full of vendors of any kind. Hotel exterior are poorly maintained, and the room doesn't have a properly furniture. Tables, chairs are very old and teared. Balcony is poorly maintained, paint is peeling, doors are cracked, lock is old. They don't want to expent any money on the structure in general.

Terrible experience. Heavily outdated facility in a quickly flooded area during hurricane season. They don't know how to accommodate parties bigger than 6. We booked here on recommendation from other Decameron visits but it was clear this place is neglected and not getting any types of updates in furnishings/decor and the service was poor. I'm thankful for the few friendly ones we encountered. Would not return and based on this experience, would not recommend at all. No bang for your buck.

The AC system was not working properly, the rooms were absolutely noisy from inside and outside the hotel, we were stolen a pair of sunglasses and nobody could give us an answer, and they offer a dinner in a Café that is supposed to have nice view of the sunset, but they don't, and you loose the precious opportunity of seeing the sunset above the wall. To summarize, they offer far more that what they give.
