We loved the stylish mix of a bookstore and coffee shop. We only got to try the coffee, which was delicious and served in an old-school glass, fitting perfectly the ambience of the place. Additionally, we found a tone of gorgeous postcards.

Cozy book store tucked into a corner. Seating is limited. The staff were friendly and service was good. Coffee was average. We ordered cappuccinos, but they tasted more like lattes. Additionally, the flavour of the espresso was not as good as other places. Thus rating reflects taste of coffee.

This is a very nice bookstore with decent coffee. However, I initially found it on a list of good cafes to work in, and this is definitely not the case. There are a few tables, no wifi, and no power. Go here for conversation, not with a laptop.

It's an amazing place, small but very cozy. Coffees are great, and prices are good given the location. Plus the books there are others souvenirs such as post cards for very reasonable prices.

Refreshing to be in a cool bookstore in the midst of the hoards of tourists and vendors in Cartagena. Love the smell of a nice book shop serving coffee. Quaint, cozy and serves cocktails as well. We accidentally stayed after closing and they were so helpful and kind. Poured us daiquiris to go. Definitely recommend! Step outside the door for a super instagrammable shot of the cathedral in the background.

Great little spot for flavorful coffee. We had frappé (ask for added milk, the texture is so smooth…) and cold flat white, and we can only recommend as a rest from the heat and agitation outside.

We stopped here based on an online review of Cartagena we saw and it was a perfect place for an afternoon rest. The coffee was great and the selection of books made for a fun browsing. They had tons of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, so if you are looking for that while you are in Cartagena (in English or Spanish), this is the place to go. If you are looking for some local literature from Colombia, or Spanish translations of some of your favorites, stop in here for a drink and a browse!

This place is so pretty, but unfortunately it was full when we got there.

The only place I was able to find postcards! And the cozy atmosphere with an in-store coffee shop is perfect for sitting down and writing those postcards straight away

Cool place but service is very slow and the coffees were only ok, nothing extraordinary.

Ambiance is great but coffee was average. Really cool collection of books and a must visit when you’re exploring the streets of Cartagena.

Smaller but Amazing bookstore/coffee shop! Very cozy atmosphere. It’s like a bubble inside Cartagena. The perfect place to escape the chaos, read a book and drink coffee.

Super nice little bookstore and place to have a coffee or a drink. Good atmosphere and kind staff. Good selection of work from Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Both Spanish and English.

Amazing cold brew and cold air conditioner, a chill to the heat in Cartagena. Cold brew is served in a whisky-like glass with a lot of ice. The coffee house and the books store are the same place. You can seat in high chairs at the coffee house. The bookstore has great selection overall and specially many editions of Gabriel Garcia Marquez books. The staff was very attentive. Prices are ok.

Cute little bookstore with a nice cafe. The freshly made passionfruit juice was very refreshing. A good spot to tuck into a hot day!

I don’t understand the concept of this cafe. I was excited to visit as I thought it would be a place I can drink a coffee while reading or sampling a book. But all the books are wrapped in plastic wrap, you cannot even read one page before you buy to see if you want to buy it. Coffee was also not very good.

Great place for coffee and to choose one of those books that are inside this gem..A great collection in Spanish books and some English..Also you can find a collection of books of Garcia Marquez, the colombian writer..

A library café. Coffee and books just the perfect way to relax. The coffees here are outstanding and the Espresso Martini just done right. Only a few tables but the wait is worth it to enjoy the atmosphere fully. The desserts are good too.

Cute bookshop cafe! Super friendly staff and great coffee/cake. One shelf of English books, mostly shrink wrapped sadly.

Stopped by because this is one of two places in the walled city that sold postcards (and had the better photo quality). Good drinks, ambiance and clean bathroom. Wish they had more Cartagena children's books in English or general history books of the Coast in English. Odd thing noticed in all bookstores in Colombia are books being shrink wrapped. Wanted to see some of the books before buying - specially the photography books of Colombia.

Amazing little bookstore/coffee shop! Very cozy atmosphere and the A/C made it pure bliss! The perfect place to escape the chaos and the heat of the old city.

Coffee and books!? This place was right up my alley. We ordered bombóns (espresso and sweetened condensed milk). Very yummy. We ended up ordering a second round. I also bought a book recommended to me by one of the employees. He was very helpful - asked what type of book I was looking for (I gave very vague parameters) and he suggested 3 options that all seemed great and I ended up buying one. My book was $39m pesos or about $8USD. Our bombóns were $7500 pesos or like $1.60 USD. Would recommend and would return!

Nice book store but no wifi to use your computer at the cafe

  • 5/5 Laura H. 2 years ago on Google
Cute library/coffee shop. Stop by for a refreshing respite from the heat and bustle of Cartagena. The majority of the books are in Spanish. They also serve beer and small pastries and plantain chips.

  • 2/5 Jack D. 2 years ago on Google
Over hyped and under delivered. All books are tape wrapped, so to read you would need to buy the book. Yes, every single book is sealed away from you. No wifi (they don't have any) would mean you are there to read book. But they don't have any books for you to read unless you buy one. That's what I call a bait and switch. Atmosphere is nice, but misleading name is no bueno. Skip it.

I would return. We had a quick café at the bar. They had really good carrot bread to accompany the espresso, cortado and iced latte we ordered. No wifi when i was there. Great espresso. Small space. Clean bathroom. Small covered patio in front with a few tables complemented the small space inside. Air conditioning was welcomed.

Small space with a few tables placed closely together but you're surrounded by books and good coffee. The employees are helpful and kind. Small English books selection, pricing typical to US book prices. A/C. Clean restroom. No one specific, placed in different locations, posted high on the wall and at entrance, no pricing listed. Two espresso coffees were ~14 I think. During June 2021 visit, can stay as long as you want, masks on when not drinking.

Abaco Café is a great place to have a coffee and chill after lunch. It's cozy, the staff is friendly and they have limited options for you to order. I had a cold Brew and it was okay, but worth for the experience. It's usually playing some jazz on the background and it's refreshingly cold when you enter. Go for it!

Attentive service and a very chill vibe makes this place a perfect spot for some delicious coffee... We loved our 'bombons' :))

😠 Beware of the staff here. Our waiter tried to demand a tip after we paid with a credit card.
