Prang
Ku
is
one
of
the
“Arokayasala”
or
medical
station
built
by
the
order
of
King
Jayavarman
VII
(1181-1218).
There

throughout
his
empire.
Prang
Ku
was
built
in
the
12th
-
13th
century
A.D.
The
main
tower
or
“Prang”
was
constructed
from
laterite
and
sandstone.
The
entire
sanctuary
is
surrounded
by
a
rectangular
laterite
wall,
with
a
single
entrance
on
the
east
side.
There
is
another
rectangular
building
facing
west
located
in
the
southeast
corner.
There
is
a
square
pond
lined
with
laterite
stones
located
to
the
northeast
of
the
sanctuary
approx.
10m
outside
the
main
wall.
The
main
Prang
located
at
the
center,
a
Wihan
(Vihara)
or
Bannalai
(Library)
at
its
front
surrounded
by
a
laterite
wall.
The
main
Prang
is
in
a
15
m
wide
square
shape
with
12-recessed
corners.
At
its
front
is
an
entrance
constructed
as
an
antechamber,
while
the
other
3
sides
of
the
wall
are
false
doors.
Above
the
one
in
the
north
is
a
lintel
of
a
bas-relief
Buddha
image
in
the
meditation
posture
sitting
on
the
Kala
holding
the
garlands
with
both
hands.
At
the
front
is
also
located
a
lintel
but
its
engraving
is
very
worn
out.
The
niche
of
the
false
door
in
the
north
enshrines
a
stone
Buddha
image
in
the
meditation
posture
of
the
Dvaravati
style
with
a
height
of
1.75m.
The
image
was
moved
from
another
place,
but
it
is
highly
revered
by
the
people
of
Chaiyaphum.
There
is
an
annual
fair
in
the
5th
lunar
month
of
each
year.
The
Sanskirt
inscription
found
in
the
edifice
of
the
temple
was
engraved
on
the
four
sides
of
a
sandstone
pillar,
some
60cm
high
and
30cm
wide.
Unfortunately
broken
into
seven
pieces
which
were
reassembled
for
the
stamping.
