Prang Ku Location: Ban Nongbua, Amphur Maung, Chaiyaphum. GPS coordinates (WGS84): N 15.806710 E 102.044535 Prang Ku is one of the “Arokayasala” or medical station built by the order of King Jayavarman VII (1181-1218). There were a total of 102 medical stations built throughout his empire. Prang Ku was built in the 12th - 13th century A.D. The main tower or “Prang” was constructed from laterite and sandstone. The entire sanctuary is surrounded by a rectangular laterite wall, with a single entrance on the east side. There is another rectangular building facing west located in the southeast corner. There is a square pond lined with laterite stones located to the northeast of the sanctuary approx. 10m outside the main wall. The main Prang located at the center, a Wihan (Vihara) or Bannalai (Library) at its front surrounded by a laterite wall. The main Prang is in a 15 m wide square shape with 12-recessed corners. At its front is an entrance constructed as an antechamber, while the other 3 sides of the wall are false doors. Above the one in the north is a lintel of a bas-relief Buddha image in the meditation posture sitting on the Kala holding the garlands with both hands. At the front is also located a lintel but its engraving is very worn out. The niche of the false door in the north enshrines a stone Buddha image in the meditation posture of the Dvaravati style with a height of 1.75m. The image was moved from another place, but it is highly revered by the people of Chaiyaphum. There is an annual fair in the 5th lunar month of each year. The Sanskirt inscription found in the edifice of the temple was engraved on the four sides of a sandstone pillar, some 60cm high and 30cm wide. Unfortunately broken into seven pieces which were reassembled for the stamping. Selection of photos both infrared and normal colour. Cameras: Infra Red: Nikon D70s with 18-55mm lens, filter Hoya 720nm Normal Nikon D5200 with Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX II Lens.

These are the ruins of an ancient Khmer style temple. It is a small park and can be viewed with minimal time but it is interesting to us history buffs.

Pretty little Khmer temple in the town of Chaiyaphum. You can get right up to the stones too (but please be respectful and don't clamber all over it). Popular spot for photos, especially Thai pre-wedding ones. Nowhere near the size and grandeur of Phimai or Phanom Rung, and not worth a trip to see it by itself, but should definitely be on your to do list if you are visiting the province of Chaiyaphum.

Great Kamher Temole, free to visit. This was in a well maintained patch of land just off the road. Good spot to stop for a picnic and walk around the Temple ruins.

It's a bit difficult to find as it is downton but at the same time in a rural city aera . The Prang is relatively well.restored, but there are explanations. The Bayon-style Prang Ku in Bayon-style Prang in Chaiyaphum is the most complete Khmer ruin in the province. It was built by King Hhaiyaphumand and is the most complete Khmer ruin in the province and a major point of pride for the capital city. Actually, it was one of the Khmer hospitals.
