As a natural formation it is quite interesting but after walking around it there's not much else going on. The drive down and stopping to see the waterfall was better than the 7 coloured earth in my opinion. They had a nice cafe where the prices were not extortionate and the tortoises were also interesting. I would guess if you went with kids they would be more interested in the giant tortoises over everything else.

Beautiful landscape. It’s not too big but I enjoyed my walk around the compound. Went around dusk during winter, air was just very slightly chilly and very fresh. Do check out the gift shop, lots of Mauritian specialties. Great toilets, clean and modern. If you’re around, do check out the tortoise farm right beside. 4 really huge and friendly tortoises there. They smile for pics.

Quite good, giant tortoises very interesting. Wouldn't go specially to see the seven colours of earth to be honest. Waterfall spectacular, worth walking to the high viewpoint to see at its best.

Visited Chamarel viewpoint and 7 Coloured Earth. When you entered the park, you need to drive couple minutes to viewpoints and 7 Coloured Earth. And the road was very well maintained. Parking is available.👌🏼 I recommend you to come here early with less tourists.🤓 Don’t forget to visit giant tortoise family near the 7 Coloured Earth.

Ticket is priced at MUR 500 / person, leaving out the local taxi driver. There is a car parking , show the ticket at the entrance and walk ahead via a small , green lane. You enter the Chamarel land. Gorgeous coloured volcanic sands with glistening greenery against the scenery. The view is breathtaking. It's so green. The sand colours are not too visible under harsh sunlight so look for a shaded spot or go early before 12pm sun. That area has a small tortoise park and a long walking area that has a souvenir shop. You can buy the coloured sands in a test tube for MUR 750 to MUR 1000. Fridge magnet for MUR 90. You can stroll here, take many photos and sit for a drink. There is a cafe inside for food and refreshments. Keywords: geological, natural phenomenon, giant tortoises, nature park

People often say that you don’t see much of these different beautiful colors of the earth .. but when we were there we found this is not true! Amazing color variations and you must enjoy it from different angles and viewpoints! So walk around and enjoy! Also visit the turtle areal!

Reading lots of negative reviews below and you just wonder why people can’t even admire something so beautiful and natural and have to complain 🤷‍♂️ Read on further below for a detailed and informative review 😊👇🏽 Anyway this was one of the highlights of our trip and a real bucket list item of ours 🪣 The drive to Chamarel was absolutely beautiful with the windy roads up the mountain. The views were stunning seeing Benetiers island and Le Morné ❤️ The entrance to this natural attraction was well marked and it was quick to pay for the ticket at the gate (Hot tip: make sure to book online for a further discount 😉). The 1st stop from the entrance was the Chamarel Waterfall. Absolutely stunning and a wonderful photo/video taking opportunity. Lovely view point and a must see! Finally arrived at the 7 coloured earth 🌍 This was really beautiful and with it being partly cloudy 🌤️ We were able to see all 7 colors in their full glory and it was worth it. There are different viewing points and the mountains make a spectacular backdrop. The real highlight was seeing those beautiful Aldabra Giant Tortoises 🐢 in their element ❤️ We literally just switched off and took in their calmness and it was unreal being with creatures that can grow up to 150 years 😳 We were so glad we did this and you won’t be disappointed if you love nature and rare sights 👌

Love it, there's an amazing Caffe at the top, and they don't charge you like crazy which is a surprise. It's just standard prices. It's also a short walk from the car park to the top of the hill(5-10m max).

The waterfall was spectacular. It was a little bit of a hike to get to the top viewing deck but so worth it. It was breathtaking. The 7 colored sand on the other hand was a bit of an anti-climax for me. I expected huge colored dunes but it is quiet a small area of coloured sands. The giant tortoises look a bit sad but it was nice seeing such huge creatures and reading of their origins. A tourist spot for sure but there's more hype than the site offers.

You can drive close to every attraction. Definitely worth a visit. Cafe also sells freshly made sugar cane drink. One of most popular attraction on the island.

Far exceeded my expectations. There's a lot to see and do and you can easily make a whole day out of it. We checked out the 7 coloured earth and the waterfall. Both were even more impressive in person There is also an open air cafe with great food and very reasonable prices. Get the brownie, you won't regret it.

It is naturally formed layers of soil with several colours and must visit if you are a nature lover. U can easily get the tickets at the counter. Try to visit on weekdays as the crowd would be less.

The seven Coloured Earths are a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in Mauritius. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow. The main feature of the place is that since these differently coloured sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a striped colouring. Since the earth was first exposed, rains have carved beautiful patterns into the hillside. One should be able to cover tha Trou Aux Cerf's Volcano, Ganga Talao and this place in one day.

Beautiful place and I definitely recommend to swing by when visiting Mauritius. We were apparently lucky with no line at all and drove easily into the park and could easily visit the attractions. We were really impressed with the modern layout with respect for the nature and how is all came together as a great experience. Yes, you should go!

It is truly a unique place. I was spellbound how seven types of soils have remained spread the way they are displayed over so many centuries. It is nature at its best. It is good that UNESCO has made it a protected place. A must go place.

Do this as part of the Wild South tour - top tip: if you are staying in two different hotels whilst in Mauritius, book the tour on the day you are moving between hotels. They will pick you up from one and drop you off at the other. Free transfer!

Eigentlich nichts mega aufregendes.

I really enjoyed my time here because the geology fascinated me. All the facilities including the loos, shop and cafe were all clean and staff welcoming. It was a little smaller than I was expecting and maybe only takes around 20 mins to look around unless you take the time to pause and think or use the cafe.

On first look into promotion papers this place is nothing special, but is worth to visit it, because... You can get there by car after visiting Chamarel Waterfall. It's only one minut driving from Waterfall... This place offers not only view on coloured earth, but also nice views to nearby natural beauty, lush vegetation and area with turtles...

Very nice place to go for 1 hour. The waterfall, the Giant Tortoises and the Colorer Earth was the highlight. Make sure that you have plenty of fuel as there is not much in this area and we almost ran out of it.

Visiting the 7 Coloured Earth in Mauritius is an intriguing and captivating experience. As we arrived, we were immediately struck by the unique and mesmerizing natural wonder that lay before us. However, it's important to note that the popularity of this attraction often leads to a significant crowd, which may be perceived as somewhat overcrowded by some visitors. One of the highlights of this visit was the opportunity to witness the enchanting hige turtles. These graceful creatures added a touch of magic to our day, and observing them was a truly delightful experience. Moreover, the site offers more than just its geological marvels. There is a charming coffee shop on the premises, boasting an extensive selection of coffee varieties and tempting ice cream treats. It's a perfect spot to take a break, enjoy a refreshing beverage, or savor a sweet treat while taking in the scenic surroundings. In summary, a visit to the 7 Coloured Earth in Mauritius offers a chance to witness a natural marvel, albeit in a somewhat crowded setting. The presence of turtles adds to the allure, and the coffee shop provides a delightful respite with its diverse offerings. It's a cool destination for those seeking a unique blend of natural beauty and culinary pleasures.

A beautiful natural phenomenon in the rainforest. The attraction is actually small, but the area around it is beautiful. It is a nice excursion while hiking in nature. I wouldn't say it's a must-see, but it would be nice to see what remains were left behind by an eruption millions of years ago.

Muted varied coloured earths, better seen in the latter afternoon when the light seems to give greater depth of colour to nature. There is an excellent café and viewing platform and also a pen with six super cool giant tortoises. And two cats.

Set in glorious greenery, this multicoloured dune is a must-see! Parking is limited. The small tortoise enclosure is a bit sad. The original domed tortoises of Mauritius are extinct.

  • 4/5 Razi Ul Hasan A. 9 months ago on Google
Seven Colored Earth is a prominent tourist spot in Chamarel, Mauritius. This is a sand dune which demonstrates seven distinct colors - red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow. This wonder of nature happened due to some volcanic activities. In the past, people used to walk on this place which caused erosion. Now the place is surrounded by boundaries. Approximately 1.5 hours drive from Port Louis.

So much to see and do! I have to recommend the gourmet ice popsicles...this was so good! We also tried the macaroons...delicious!

  • 4/5 Atreyu W. 7 months ago on Google
Beautiful place! BUT, 4* only, because, it's too small I think. We parked on first parking place, close to the Chamarel waterfall viewpoint - if you want little hike, from this parkplace it's only 1.2km away. And I'm happy, that we make it that way - because, when we came to the entry, we walked trought whole park in less than 15mins (with photos already). Anyway, place itself is very beautiful and not so expensive - 550RS/person for non residents. I can reccommend this place, if you're in south part of Mauricius already (but I don't think it's worth to travel from north).

  • 3/5 Rebecca K. 7 months ago on Google
It's a beautiful place. Only 500 rupees per person. But in reality all it is is a small area of soil. If it rains, the 7 colors are harder to see. The phenomenon is very cool and being able to say that you were there and saw it in person is a nice check off your bucket list. The tortoise area is very pointless. You're better off seeing the turtoises in La Vanille Park.

Beautiful place and a must see. Like everything in Mauritius! These 7 colours of the planet Earth are worth visiting. It's a nice nature walk to get there or you can drive. There is a cafe and a small souvenir shop.

Had a lovely visit here on our recent holiday to Mauritius. Loved the explanations as we walked around and the landscapes were amazing. Special highlight was the giant tortoises.

  • 4/5 Tom C. 5 months ago on Google
The area is amazing to look at, gourgeous to admire. You can see turtles in there, too. As for the bistro. Be prepared to wait for a looong time. Also be very specific and doublecheck what you ordered before you pay to avoid misunderstanding.

  • 5/5 Mounika K. 5 months ago on Google
This is one of the unique place I have ever seen. The earth is really in seven color with all the variations visible. This place is on a hill and also there are some gaint tortoises to watch nearby.

  • 2/5 Chantal van Z. 6 months ago on Google
It’s pretty but the fact that you have to line up in a que and pay RS550 per person to go in (to look at sand) kind of dampens the excitement. The road there is very windy so if you get car sick, be prepared. The large tortoises look like they are only there to be exploited for money, with very little grass, didn’t see food for them and the water the have is a tiny little dirty pool which they cannot even be submerged in. It could be better considering the money they make. The restaurant is also expensive. If you are a tourist that is not savvy and in tune with prices, you will be taken advantage of.

Overall very well organised park with parking for each individual attraction and a very affordable entry fee. The waterfall view was great. The 7 colored earth spot makes for a nice picture but is overall quite small and looks a bit like a tourist trap. The turtle garden was also small and rather disappointing (few tortoise originally from the Seyshells)

Ja es ist ein schöner Ort auf der Insel. Aber ich hätte es mir größer vorgestellt. Und es ist auch wirklich schade das man die Erden nicht betreten kann. Aber die Schild Kröten sind schön zu bewundern.

  • 5/5 Vaidas P. 1 year ago on Google
Soil coloured in various shades from yellow to purple. Due to the volcanic soil being rich in iron and aluminium oxides, which don't mix together and come out as stripes. Nothing grows on it because that patch of soil is stripped of nutrients. Tortoise pen nearby. A cafe available right next to the soils to have some lunch.

  • 5/5 Bishwanath G. 1 year ago on Google

Lovely park to visit and check out the chamarel waterfall as well as the seven coloured park. Its not very huge. Something to check out when in South Mauritius. Good to know the history behind it. Kids will love it. Good facilities in the park including a coffee shop.

Wow! Very unique and beautiful place. You can really see all of the colors in the direct sunlight and the formation of the landscape is interesting. Good information provided around the park to learn about how it came to be. Also good viewing points all around it. Worth the visit!

Beautiful we paid 500 Rupes to enter and Rs 1300 each (which included other 5 places we saw) to tour. Beautiful nature visit and the turtle. Liked the sugar cane juice.

  • 3/5 Yona B. 11 months ago on Google
It's different, interesting to see. It was a rainy day when we went, but could still see the colors and the view is nice. I think it looks better in pictures, having seen it I wouldn't recomment to go out of your way for this.

  • 5/5 Lensley B. 8 months ago on Google
The last time I visited the place, was back in 1994. At that time, we were allowed to walk on the earth. Due to erosion, the area is now protected by fence. Be advised that at the time I was there this year (august), drone-flight was now allowed.

  • 4/5 Miles 9 months ago on Google
