Nice walk, beautiful viewpoint but also so lovely to walk through the endemic forest. Very well done welcome shop. They have a little snack/drinks place at the top of the viewpoint which is definitely worth stopping by. Recommend going early as it gets really hot.

A very peaceful and rejuvenating place where to spend the day. Breathtaking views, beautiful forest paths, and bird songs all along the way. We were fortunate to see many birds including the Echo Parakeet thanks to the app "Birds of Mauritius". In this app, you can play bird songs and the real birds respond to those recordings. It was extremely beautiful to welcome the sunset from the top view while enjoying cocktails and snacks. Special thanks to our guide Jean Francois who educated and accompanied us with his friendly, sincere, and calm personality :) Amazing day! Thank you Ebony forest!

Really nice hiking trail up the hill and on top there is a fantastic view. There is also a small cafe near the top, with some nice view. One way to access this hiking trail is through Chamarel area and there is also Ebony forest museum which is really interesting.

Totally highly recommend this place. It is really paradise in paradise. I recommend buy online ticket and take a drive with a guide. It was our best decision. We saw endemic animals (birds and gekons) and flora. The guide told us many interesting things about nature history of island. I think everybody should visit this place to appreciate the island nature and undestanding of island. Thank you our guide and everybody who works here. And the viewpoint on the top? The best view I have ever seen. The jeep tour is also good for kids. Dont forget to your mosquito protection! And we got the umbrellas when the rain was starting. Super idea for visitors.

I thoroughly enjoyed my hike in the Ebony Forest Reserve. Well maintained paths with some spectacular view points. Getting to the restaurant is a bit of a hike up, but well worth it. Take some money and enjoy a refreshment and some time on the deck. Definitely recommend when you're in the area.

Absolutely amazing experience. We opted for the love tree package which included a jeep ride which is amazing and an excellent tour guide who was not only knowledgeable but genuinely funny. The snacks at the view point were a nice touch and it felt good to plant a tree and help with the conservation efforts. Well worth your time and money.

Wonderful Experience! The Ebony tree section tour was very good, with a well prepared guide explaining all the details of endemic Mauritian flora and fauna. The ridgeline trail through the forest was nice and not difficult. The view from the top of ridge at Sublime Point, spacing from Le Morne to Filc en Flac was amazing. Mosquito repellent was advised but not necessary in our case.

If you would like to see how Mauritius forests were looking like 400 years ago, this place is for you. The owners, (who deserve a huge support for doing preservation work on behalf of the gov), have arranged that you are guided through a man made, raised path, amidst the trees of the forest. Hence you can roam freely, at a fairly good height, with a good view on the trees, birds, and endogenous lizards. The guide that accompany groups is well groomed on the preservation subject and knows much about the indigenous flora and fauna of the island. Choose a sunny day to do that hike. A highly recommended visit.

Amazing place for a peaceful hike, observing local flora and fauna and quite informative with all the signs and info about endangered fauna on the trail. They also have guided tours and pick up vehicles, but we havent used it. Would love to come again.

Review: Get to know more about the endemic trees of Mauritius and how efforts have paid off during the past years to conserve Mauritius former endemic forrest. At the end of the tour, you will be rewarded with a spectacular view over La Gaulette. Price: Roughly 8€ per person for 30min guided tour and 15min viewpoint stop. Parking: If you book solely the ebony tour, you can acces the park and follow the signs. Then you get of and make your payment directly at the counter. Hint: You have the option to plant an endenic tree there. However, make sure to make a reservation at least 24hours before.

One of the best place to discover nature, the history of Mauritius, the andemic trees, about birds and the hiking is breath-taking.... If you love nature, it is highly recommended. Tour Guides are excellent.

Well i decided to take the shortcut thinking it was "easy" according to reception, it was obviously shorter but wayyy harder, i don't recommend the shortcut for someone with children! It was steep and slippery. I decided on the way back to walk the cemented route (the one supposed to be longer, it was so much faster because it was actually easier). So if you like hiking difficult routes, take the shortcut. It will be in the forest. I knocked off a star, because the signage was awful. They don't tell you "you are at point F" when you get there, they can do better.

Great trekking, you can take the jeep or hike one of two routes. At the end the view is stunning and you can enter steep hike for the summit.

For hikers it’s an easy track no need to be accompanied by a guide. You can also easily access to the mountain Piton du canot. At sublime view point is amazing views of le Morne mountain and île aux Benitier. You can also visit the museum.

Lovely little hike, does climb at times not for everyone. The 30 minutes introduction to the Ebony forest and what is being done to preserve it while walking amongst the trees is quite refreshing and instructive. Amazing view at the top 🤩

Sublime Point's view was absolutely worth the hike. Adventurous hike with my friends, we have a great time. Feel connect to the nature, trees around you. There is a little shop at the Sublime Point where you can buy drinks and snacks. The staff were friendly. They also sell souvenirs at the reception.

Very well organised tour, booked on Mari deal. The staff is friendly and punctual. We did a tree planting and a 2hrs jeep tour with a guide. We learnt a lot about the conservation of ebony trees in Mauritius.

Off the beaten track, you can visit the Ebony Forest. Hardly any other tourists, and the views are breathtaking. You can even take a nature walk through the forest to sport geckos and other endangered species.

Had a great trip to the Ebony Forest. Did the jeep ride which I recommend if you struggle in the heat or just want to do something a bit different! Learnt a lot about the conservation of the area, saw some exciting wildlife and our driver/guide was wonderful. Couldn’t recommend more highly! Views from the viewpoint at the top are unreal.

The birdwatching tour was brilliant. If you're into birds, you must do this while in Mauritius! Damien was a fantastic guide and super knowledgeable about the birds and other flora and fauna. He also gave us lots of insight into Mauritian/Creole culture and daily life. The view from sublime point was incredible and the little snacks and juice was such a wonderful touch. Highly recommended for birders or anyone into nature. Bring your binoculars and enjoy.

Loved the your of the Ebony Forest. Such great work being done here to replace all exotics with the endemic trees, especially the Ebony trees. Amazing that these trees take such a long time to grow to their majestic size. What a truly magical experience. Thank you to guide, Abhay. He was just too cool. At Sublime point, there's also a refreshment station. We bought ice cream from Kobie. They do swipe, even that far up the mountain. You can also hike in the Ebony Forest. Just just plenty of fluid though. It very humid.

We took the Jeep tour through the forest, which was a very great idea in retrospect: Our guide Avish explained a lot of interesting details about the different endemic and exotic flora and fauna you can find in Mauritius, especially the great efforts that need to be made to protect and restore the original flora and fauna. His enthusiastic explanations made the trip an amazing experience and we can definitely recommend spending the extra money for it, especially given that this will also help the ebony forest project to keep up their great work of protecting the endemic wildlife. Taking the Jeep tour also won't just help you spot details you would miss otherwise, you also won't need to hike up the quite steep paths in the heat.

Awesome place! Stunning views and beautiful forest. But the most amazing thing is all the rare birds! I saw pink pigeons, paradise flycatchers and even kestrels all within less than 30min walk. Surreal feeling to see Mauritius as the first settlers have seen it.

Amazing 360° views of the area from the top of the mountain after a 30 minute hike from the last jeep ride. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of the park’s flora and fauna. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

What a jewel! It was a really pleasant place to visit. The museum and the guides are great. They do valuable work to understand Mauritius and learn about the history and beauty as well as tragicness of this island. It was a pleasure to learn about the project to save, reintroduce and protect endemic flora. The area is modern, clean and well maintained. The end of the tour rewards with a fantastic view. My only critic is the high frequented use of regular fueled jeeps, not very ecologic, but well, serves an higher purpose.

Must visit to understand Mauritius and their Nature! Highly recommend to talk to the staff during the 30 min guided tour and ask all the questions you have. Also, you will be rewarded by a spectacular view at the end.

Absolutely brilliant bird walk. Our biologist guide magicked kestrel, Mauritius paradise flycatchers (recent flexibly fledgling being fed), and more from nowhere. Gorgeous place doing great work with tonnes of insight and a superb ebony experience knowledge centre. Even the drinks and veggie fried snacks were terrific. A bargain. Only us two and our guide too!

We got a 4x4 tour and had to wait 20mins. We only had 2 stops which lasted over an hour. Though, would definitely recommend Lucy as your tour guide - she was lovely!

I went to the Boutique we bought 💘 mug. Good welcoming staff. Explanation nicely 👌 given about the hike. Next time I am going for the hike. Need 3 hrs to go n 3 more to come back. Anybody interested should reach n start the hike early. There is guided hike in jeep I think at 9.30am n at 11.30 am. It is not expensive there was a discount n was rs200.per adult. NICE.

The best experience so far on Mauritius! We did the jeep drive with Avish, who guided us and answered thoroughly each of our numerous questions. By the way, if you travel with toddler (our daughter is 2,5 years old), the jeep drive is a very good option- very manageable amount of walking and the jeep seats are rather nap-friendly

Super nice walk in a rather beautiful scenery. Everyone talks about mosquitos, however I haven't been bitten once, despite wearing shorts and sleeveless top. If you are even slightly fit and fancy a better experience, near the access to the pasarelle ditch the road and take the ridgeline trail - so much more worth it. Once reaching the cafe, follow the signs towards the toilettes and you'll find another trail leading to the very top - Pinon Canot. Its behind a gate that appears locked, but isn't, it is only asked to keep it closed after passing through it. This one is somewhat more challenging but the view from the top is excellent.

  • 5/5 Patryk P. 1 year ago on Google
The hike through the ebony forest is not included in the standard ticket so you have to pay 300 Rs to enter the trail. Yet it is worth it because it's one of the best attractions in the Chamarel region. The round trip took us around 3 hours. We went up with the harder trail route and return the easier, paved one. The optional trip to Piton Canot is the most extreme part of the hike but the view from the top is worth the effort.

Beautiful location in the heart of a Forest. Nature reserve encouraging the growth of endemic flora.... An opportunity to learn and view some beautiful birds too. The sublime point gives an amazing view of the west coast. A guided tour and the 4*4 make it a convenient trail for older people too. Amazing knowledgeable staff. Its a perfect outing in the lap of nature.

Excellent guided tour around the ebony forest, doing some great conservation work. Didn't do the activity bit so cannot comment on that, the 7 sands bit is underwhelming.

  • 3/5 Michelle P. 3 years ago on Google
The walkway through the forest is a peaceful and easy walk. But the view from the top, overlooking Tamarin to Le Morne, makes the trip worth it!

Had an amazing time and a refreshing place to be at. We opted for the 'take a drive' and the guide (Damien) was very friendly and informative. Spectacular viewpoints. And pathways are well-maintained. Overall very satisfied. Highly recommend!
