It's an iconic landmark and the most happening place in the former French colony of Chandannagar. Located in the midst of the Chandannagar strand (the long rocky pavement/walkway), here you can spend some quality time with your loved ones or alone in sublime solitude. The beauty of this place gets amplified because of the serene Hooghly river that is flowing by. To satiate your appetite, you will find several food stalls in the vicinity. The popular Chandannagar Church (Sacred Heart Church) is also situated nearby to this place. If you would like to cross the river and get to the opposite bank, called Jagatdal, then simply walk towards the north direction for a few minutes and you will reach the ferry ghat. Launches are available for just â‚đ7/head, at frequent intervals. Being the most prominent location in the city of Chandannagar, I would definitely recommend everyone to visit this place and imbibe the alluring natural ambiance.👍ðŸŧ

One of the best place in Chandannagar for local outing. The place is itself a heritage. The church beside Joraghaat is about 400 yrs old. During Christmas a lot of people gathers. In working days the church kept open for general people from 10 am to 12pm in the morning and 5pm to 7pm in the evening.

Jora ghat is very famous place in chandan nagar also know as chander nagore. You will get food stall , tea stall , momo stall over here. A beautiful church also situated just near to this river bank. In 1673 chandan nagar was established as a french colony with permssion of Ibrahim khan nawab of bengal. They just bulit this area and use it as a port. But its not a real one. Few years back its confittion was not good and its rebulid again by chandan nagar corporation.

It's a wonderful avenue to walk along in late afternoons and evenings. It's flanked by a serene river on one side (which one can go on a boat ride along) and colonial buildings on the other with a beautiful row of trees that are adorned in bright pink and white and green in Spring. There are street food hawkers along the avenue. It is perfect for romantic walks and walking pets.

It's a real-life dating spot for youngsters, an escape from the reality for middle aged people and the best place for evening walk and gossip for old citizens. This place adds oxygen to the life of people from Chandannagar.

It is a beautiful tourist spot along the banks of the Ganges river. Chandannagar Strand has an excellently decorated footpath studded with lights. It is 1 kilometer in length and 7 meters in width. Many buildings of historical importance surround the spot. Chandannagar Strand is very popular among the locals. but, its not the real one, but a exact replica, a few years back, its condition was horrible, so the chandannagore corporation demolished it and rebuild as it was originally.

An ancient monument of Chandannagar of French era. Still it has a marble plate written on French about the construction just top of the sculpture. A beautiful view can be seen from the hangging strand on the river Ganges from where you can see the turning of the river like crescent moon. As per history this crescent moon like of this turning inspired to name the place 'chandernagore' by French invaders.

The Strand Ghat in Chandannagar is a picturesque haven that exudes beauty throughout the festive season, especially from 25th December to 1st January. The atmosphere is electrifying, as the riverside comes alive with celebrations and a vibrant energy that sweeps through the air. Adjacent to the ghat stands a captivating church, adding to the allure of the surroundings. Its architectural elegance is heightened during this festive period, transforming the entire area into a mesmerizing spectacle. The amalgamation of the ghat's scenic beauty and the radiant charm of the church creates a spellbinding ambiance that captivates visitors. The Strand Ghat serves as a focal point for festivities, attracting locals and tourists alike. The lively atmosphere, coupled with the scenic views of the river, makes it an ideal destination for those seeking a blend of cultural richness and natural splendor. As a visitor, my experience at Strand Ghat during this festive period was nothing short of enchanting. The radiant church, the vibrant festivities, and the serene riverside setting left an indelible mark on my memory. For a delightful escape into a world of beauty and celebration, Strand Ghat in Chandannagar is truly a gem waiting to be explored.

Joraghat is situated in Chandernagore Strand, and you can see that this is my favourite I live in chandanagar I visit this place Joraghat ofenly. I love this place very much. You can simply sit in a bench and think about yourself aur you can think of any other things. This place gives you peace, a proper mental peace. If you feel frustrated or depressed then just go and grab a ice cream. This place speaks a lot about this city.

The church is situated just beside the chandannagar government college , its a year old church , renovated recently . Just a few minutes away from the river Ganges this place can very easily catch your eyes . There is a garden before you enter the church , the beautiful flowers can easily win your heart . Inside , though a little bit old flavor is still there but the inside atmosphere will make you bow down to God , One with a cool mind can easily feel the presence of omnipresent God . Regular prayers taken place here and on the Christmas day the church was lit up with numerous lights making it a very good looking place . On that day one cannot count the footfalls here . A beautiful place to hang out with friends and family and even solo .

One of the Historical places in Chandannagar. Nice ambience to hangout with friends and family. Nearby food stalls also try to maintain food hygiene. Something's to mention: please don't smoke weed and don't drink in the nearby areas, as these detoriates the decency of the place. Hope you be cooperative enough.

This is a nice play at the banks of ganges. You can enjoy cool breezes and chill in the evening. There are a lot of places to sit and relax along the banks of the river. There are thousands of fast food stalls near the ghat where you can enjoy panipuri, momos, pokodas, kebabs, ice cream and everything. This is also a very couple friendly place (if you are not single 😉).

Nice place for a stroll or to have a quiet time. The area by the banks of the Ganges has been paved and is available for walking / activities. You get a view of Ganges throughout the stretch. The stretch itself could have been longer though. I should also mention that the area was quite clean when I visited.

Great place for time spend in the afternoon or in the morning. This place is very famous and already art of some movies. If can feel a old Bengali culture here. You either can spend your time to sitting and take a great view of Ganges or walk on the street. You will get many snacks food option here. Just opposite of the road you will find a Church and a museum which is closed now for covid. I should recommended tis place to my friends and family for visit. One important thing. If you want to go there by your car, please choose the rout very carefully. Most of the roads are very narrow and try to avoid any special or holidays.
