Tried both Pork and Chicken Khao Soy - both are really good. I suggest for first timer - go for the chicken version. Not too spicy and the gravy is too my liking after having tasted Khao Soy at various other places I would say Maesai is one of the best in Chiang Mai. Come early as there is usually a crowd during lunch hour for both take away and eat in. By the way the Thai Milk Coffee is great as well - strong black coffee with a smokey taste and not too sweet. Try it!

Superbly yummmms and affordable khao soy in this humble Michelin eatery!!! They have been in the Michelin guide consecutively for the past three years! 😋 For two pax, we got four bowls of noodles in total: two chicken khao soy, one pork, and one kanom jeen nam ngiao! 🍜 All of them were really delicious!!! Love spamming mine with lots of lime, makes the curry base extra flavourful 😍😋. Am craving for it again just looking at the pics haha. Found the kanom jeen a tad too spicy for me, but super love the rice noodles here, so softtt and really nice with soup! Came here on a weekday morning and it was relatively quiet. It gradually got more busy close to lunch time! The staff are all nice, polite and helpful. It was a great experience here, I love it! 👍🤩🌟💛

Tried the Khao soy here since it’s on the Michelin guide. Went on a Friday around 12.30, was able to get a seat immediately. I got a beef Khao soy (thb50) the meat was tender and melts in the mouth. The fried bits on top was crispy and went well with the coconut base soup. Overall it was a good meal, portion was just right but some may feel it’s too small. While it’s good, I personally don’t think it’s that special and wouldn’t specially make my way here just to eat again.

Very cheap and tasty noodles! Curry noodles very flavourful! Get a seat, write orders on paper from table, and place it at the counter, then wait for food to be served. We waited for about 20min for our food during lunch hour. After eating, ask for the bill at the table, and the staff will come tabulate what we ordered.

Very nice Khao soy, rich flavor of coconut and thai spices paste; no worries, not spicy though. The noodle is perfect cook. The chicken is soft, moist and tender. Bare in mind, this place is very local so the vibe very casual. Good service. Parking is not available. Recommend to check out this place.

Food: i was order Khao Soy beef, taste was really ok. Soup was creamy and a bit too sweet for me. Beef also very juicy. However, the portion was really small. Service: you need to get ticket before enter. Food also came out quite fast. Atmosphere: like local Thai small restaurant. Not much table and seat.

Just don’t come too late if you want to try the signature noodle Khao Soy Gai. It was sold out when arriving 3 pm at a weekday. However could still order khao soy beef instead. The curry stock is excellent.

Personally do not like the texture of their noodle as it is thick. But the chicken melts in your mouth and their curry is tasty. To elevate the overall experience, I recommend to try their chicken skin. It has got to be one of the best chicken skin ever. Just add generously into the noodle!! Even bought extra packets as snacks 😋

The quality for the price is outstanding. It’s amazing that you can have Michelin food delivered through Grab for only about $6 USD for 3 dishes. The chicken was delicious and fell off the bone. The beef broth had so much flavour, though the meat was a bit tough. The blood cubes weren’t our favourite but the tomato based broth/curry was very flavourful. Great value and you can get it delivered. Reference the menu image from Google if Grab only shows the menu in Thai. ** Our own bowls are photographed. The takeout comes in bags so make sure you have something to put the food in.

Local people recommend for original Khao Soy Kai (Northern style noodle with chicken). Many topping from pork, chicken , beef or pork ball. No parking. Reasonable price & fast.

Absolutely delicious spot for the famous Khao Soy. This place is frequented by both locals and tourist, for a good reason! For the ones that don't know what a Khao Soy is, it is a Northern Thai curry dish that includes both regular and fried (crispy) noodles. We ordered the Chicken and Beef version, including some water and a Lemon Thai Tea. Both versions of the Khao Soy were delicious. The meat was tender and the broth has rich flavors. It has a bit of heat, but for us it was manageable. You get a plate of extras with it (lime, onions, pickled vegetables). If you want the chicken version, come early enough! Right after we ordered ours, it was sold out. The bowl of food was not big, but enough for us as a lunch. In total we only paid 130 baht for 2 people. A great place to taste a Khao Soy!

The food was absolutely delicious, my wait was less than 15 minutes for just 1 person. I would certainly go back when I’m in CM I had both the beef and chicken. I’m a true Khao soi lover so I’m very happy also the Thai Lemon tea was a hit for me! I love affordably delicious food! They are true to the culture!

The food here is so good!! The first time we got beef and pork khao soy. Came back a second time to try chicken khao soy. Beef was our favourite - so tender, perfectly cooked. Crispy noodles better than other places as it feels less fried and oily but still crispy. Drinks were also very good and goes with the food well. We got Roselle and Thai Lemon Tea both times. Sticky rice was just okay, nothing special. Lots of people so there can be a bit of a wait but food comes quickly so lots of turnover. 10/10 recommend.

This is a Michelin 🌟, the authentic northern Thailand noodle soup. The ingredients are fresh & strong aroma, but I'm not that like it's taste. Well, there are others who enjoyed it.

Khao Soy Maesai is a Michelin Star restaurant. The food was nicely presented and tasty. You can taste they use quality ingredients with fair pricing. The dish come with a standard complements of garnishes. The garnishes are a must! It really elevates the dish and individualizes it. Personally, a basic combo I enjoy is adding all the pickled veggies and adding a spoon of sugar. You order by writing the dish on to a piece of paper and handed to the chef. Ice water is self-serve and they have a tasty drink menu for only 15baht.

Some of the best khao soi I’ve ever had! The chicken was so tender and fell right off the bone. They also had a really nice array of additives, include some seriously spicy chilis. Super low key and chill spot with a nice selection of soups and a laidback staff. Also it’s impossible to beat the price—you’ll pay ~$1.50 USD for a bowl.

My first Khai Soy ever so I can only tell from my personal taste (not in comparison with others) that it is sooo delicious, perfect combination of crunchy fried noodles, perfectly cooked egg noodles, rich coconut broth, tender chicken leg... all of that in bowl that costs me only 50bath. They serve with Thai drinks only 15bath. So total 65bath you can get a full and happy meal. I came around 10-10:30 and no need to wait in line.

The food is amazing there. Not for nothing they are recommended bu Michelin. I took the traditional Khao Soy with chicken: it was delicious. Full of flavors, spicy as I love it. They offer different recipes and you can see them cool in the middle of the restaurant. One of my favorite and probably the best Khao Soy of Chiang Mai 😋✨ Bonus: it’s super cheap.

Traditional northern food In menu there are 9 dishes Today, I choose chicken spicy curry noodle and nam Ngiao rice noodle. Food flavors is medium proper for first time to trying local food. There are many type of table that can accept to 2-10 persons but quiet difficult for park. Reasonable price 30-60bath/dish Available for online banking

(Translated by Google) Escaped from Mae Kampong for about 50 kilometers and arrived in Chiang Mai. In which the beer went straight to leave the stomach as well "Beef Khao Soi" at Khao Soi Mae Sai restaurant The shop itself is an ordinary noodle shop. In the alley, if driving, there is no dedicated parking lot But you can turn right to enter the parking lot opposite the shop. Will pay a parking fee of 20 baht As for the beer, I could not see So I parked on the road in the alley so far 😅 And with the social trend, including coming during the peak time at noon, so it takes time to stand and wait for a table for quite a while. But it's worth the wait. Because Khao Soi tastes very good The meat is not sticky Delicious chewy. For this shop, if your friends will come, you can type in Google Maps saying "Khao Soi Mae Sai Khao Soy Maesai" because if you just type "Khao Soi Mae Sai" will simply take you to another shop In which the beer has already posted a picture of the shop's location To be reminded Because I have friends Let's eat and go to the wrong place in the wrong direction. Very tasty food which is realy worth waiting for in the long queue ( had to wait for an hour ). The manager should find a better way to ask people not to go to the other side of the street such as making more shade on his side or putting some chairs for the people who wait, because now he is just agressively shouting on everyone and the waiting period is uncomfortable. Non the less that does not take away from the food!

Wow! Absolutely delicious food. The flavours are simple but tasty. The meat was very tender with the chicken falling right off the bone. I’m not one for spicy food so by the end of it my mouth was on fire but it was totally worth it.

Very good curry noodle. My friend said it was “a little spicy”, but it was plenty spicy for me! The chicken leg was tender and delicious. I suggest you add peanut from the assorted spices readily provided on the table.

Arrived at 2pm on a Monday and restuarant was out of Khao Soy (the reason we made the 20 min walk, bad luck). Had Got taewbnam ngiao (option 6), Got taewbnam (option 7) and Got taew moo (option 9), Thai milk tea and Thai tea. Our favourite was option 6 which was delicious and a little bit (barely) spicy. Points deducted for; 1. poor service (dishes arrived sporadically, drinks arrived after finished eating first two bowls, third bowl of noodle was forgotten and long wait time though not busy) 2. No khao soy!

  • 5/5 Marty S. 1 year ago on Google
Has a Michelin sticker and very good reviews so I decided to give it a try. First time trying Khao Soy since arriving in Chiang Mai late the previous day I wasn’t disappointed! It was very tasty! Great value too with dishes between 35-50 baht.

  • 4/5 Christophertravelz 1 year ago on Google
Taste was super and flavorful, 5/10 on spice. Can’t beat the price but unfortunately my beef was 70% chewy fat. If you get beef like this I would send it back. I didn’t really bring it up. Would still return but not Michelin standards.

  • 5/5 Cindy C. 11 months ago on Google
Make sure to try to arrive early because they will make a certain amount of every dish which are about 15 options of soup and a couple other dishes. Once they run out of everything; they close at whatever time that is. Trust me it runs out very very quickly because my friend and I had a late lunch around 3:30 PM and they only had a few options left. We tried their Beef Soup and wow flavor was out of this world! Thai tea was really good too! Every single time we tried visiting again either it was extremely too packed or they were close so it is a Russian roulette to try to eat here but it is so worth it! Highly recommended ! Ps. You will sweat! There’s no air conditioner and just a few fans. Seats are first come first serve basis. You pay up front once you’re done.

  • 5/5 Daniel W. 7 months ago on Google
Busy little place just outside of the old city. Khaosoy Maesai served the best Khao Soy we have had in Thailand. The queue system keeps track of when people arrive and once seated, we were eating within 3 minutes. Highly recommend you try this place when in Chiang Mai!

Worth every baht. Worth the grab ride. It's honestly so delicious, each slurp of that soup is full of umami. Love that the heat is not toned down. The chicken meat is tender and juicy. And that crunchy topping just rounds up the experience. Honestly wanted another bowl. I'll 100% be back on my next trip back!

I don't understand the hype about this place. It is the best rated Khao Soi place in Chiang Mai. To my taste it was just mediocre. Defintely not worth waiting for a table, as many people do. I tried dozens of differnet Khao Sois in all of Thailand and this was the first one, that was a too spicy. Would eat here again if I am in the area and would not have to wait to get a table. Otherwise, I would skip this place.

2 specialty noodles from Northern Thailand. Both are delicious and not too spicy. Most people should enjoy it. - Kanom Jeen Nam Ngiaw. Rice noodles with spicy broth, blood cubes, pork rinds, ground pork, and a little ribs. $1 - Khoa soi beef. Flat egg noodles with coconut broth, beef, preserved vegetable, shallots, lime, and chilies. One of my favorite dishes to eat in Chiang Mai. $1.70 - Lemon Thai ice tea. 50 cents

How do you rate a bowl of Khao Soi noodle soup? The broth, the noodle & the ingredients. Goes without saying that the look, the temp & aroma also matters. On that basis, the Khao Soi from this shop at best is average. It's surely tasty but it's artificial. Missing components are the aroma, piping heat, crunchy crispy noodle texture, fresh taste of the ingredients, mouth watering broth that took time to brew etc etc. But for 50 baht a meal, I shoudn't be that critical.
