Today I tried Thai Green Curry and a Pork Roll (Cordon Bleu) and yeah, the Thai Green Curry was average compared to Pattaya. The Pork Roll was unfortunately tasteless although it looked quite nice. However, it’s a nice place to hang out and drink. But for the food I would either try other food or just drink without eating. It shouldn’t stop you from giving it a try.

Ordered fried breakfast that looked good but tasted awful. Bacon was off and had been refried. I took 2 bites and left the rest. Sausages were ok but tasted mostly of bread crumbs. Ate 1 and left the other. The fried egg was good but was dripping in oil, Thai style, and the baked beans were good but then it's hard to ruin baked beans from a can. The wholemeal toast was bread that had been in a toaster for 30 seconds. Ate half of 1 slice and left the rest. No atmosphere, very few customers and will not go back.

Red Lion gets four stars for the food, but gets an extra star for the service and for being open for lunch on a quiet Monday. I had the pork schnitzel with chunky chips, gravy and a side salad. The pork and chips were good, but a bit under-seasoned and ‘ordinary’ tbh. The salad was simple but very fresh. Overall the food is ‘good’ but not ‘great’. The beer selection was nice, and I enjoyed the IPA they offered. They also have Guinness on tap, which is an added plus. Next time I’ll try the fish and chips or a pie. Overall not a bad experience considering it is in a very ‘touristy’ area.

A large menu of British, German and Thai food. Craving something British, I ordered the steak and kidney pie, mash and vegetables. The food was ok, potatoes were good, pie a little anaemic and veg overdone. Service was good but disinterested (it was a quiet Monday). Probably won't go back.

Very inviting and kind atmosphere. I went here with many old and new friends. Adding another paragraph after reading the other views: I see people making comments on price or weird stuff. I don't know what you were expecting but I went to the Red Lion to find something very specific in Thailand, a British style public house, 'a pub. When I got to the Red Lion I found an excellent example of a British pub.

Menu has both typical Western European dishes and Thai dishes listed, combined with a large selection of beers, cocktails and spirits. All this attracts the European tourists to get some food they’re familiar to. Food is not bad, but not the greatest you’ll find in town. Staff was friendly.

Wow! I absolutely loved this bar. Excellent menu / food. Some great staff and some very nice regular customers who chatted. I tried their house white wine and eaten their fabulous cottage pie. Prices were very reasonable and I very much enjoyed my visit. I cannot rate this bar highly enough and will most certainly visit again. Thank you guys 😎👍🏻

This restaurant brings back great memories as a group of us were here 4 years ago, I read comments like the staff don’t care which I can’t relate to, when we were here 4 years ago we ate lunch here almost every day for 2 weeks service was fantastic and still is with great food and prices. All we ever eat here is Thai food because it’s excellent, tonight I had the spicy chicken soup and chicken and cashew nuts, they also made the food extra spicy hot for me, absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. A big thanks to K the manager who is still here and gave me a massive warm welcome.

Had a great night in there on Saturday for the Loi Kratong festivsl. The staff were very professional and well trained and the owners very pleasant. A good choice of beers and ciders. A great place to visit and happy to see it busy during these testing times.

We stopped in for a pint, good prices, do classic English pub drinks, like shandy, good range of cider, plenty of people sitting down for food which is always a good thing. Great atmosphere playing 70's English music.

Great, Great English style pub thats more like a restaurant. The best fish and chips i had in a long while, served quickly on a HOT plate. Mushy peas would be good, but o didn't see them on the menu. The best pint of Guinness i had in a long while too - properly served in a Guinness glass, lovely! Pity about the smokers sitting at the tables near the road. I didn't like the food waiters handling the poodle. But still worth 5 stars, and I'll try the pies on my next holiday to Chiangmai. Easy to find at the very end of Loy Kroy road.

Great place, I be eaten here numerous times. The owner, is always present in the evenings which shows in the food and service. The food is varied with English style and Thai style food, all very well done. Try the bangers and mash . Also the owner has a vast collection of vintage music videos and recordings of big name bands recording before the hype set in, well ok some hype but still pretty Un produced… excellent stuff . Also, big screen sports TV. Nice beer and liquor selection Easy location in the middle of the night market just off the main st 1/4 block.

We came here for dinner and I had the beef and Guinness pie with chips and vegetables and my partner had the fish and chips. And I grabbed myself a beer. We enjoyed our meals here and enjoyed the atmosphere of being around the night Bazaar in Chiang Mai. Give this place a go for dinner. Check my TikTok TTSWTHAILAND or YouTube TTSW Food Adventures. I have now eaten here a few times and the food can be abit up and down in quality so I reduced my rating. But still located in a good area and good if you want to have a drink or two and just relax.

Best choices of beer. Had my Christmas dinner here and it was lovely. . There menus are a mixture of English and Thai. They also serve a decent house wine ,which is a little expensive ,but worth it

One of the oldest and well loved expat restaurants in Chiang Mai. Many great quality food choices that include British, German, Thai and American dishes. Large drink menu and various beer choices that include European brands. Place is clean including the bathrooms. Right in the Night Bazaar area it is also a good place to people watch as they stroll past. Service is prompt and friendly. Prices very reasonable. They ask for feedback to always look for ways to improve showing they care what you think. I have been dining here over many years and it has been a reliable choice every time.

Pub Grub was excellent. And the cider was the first item we asked for. 🍺 (Thatchers) There was 7 of us in for lunch. We enjoyed Steak & Kidney pie Salmon & vegetables Beef Steak & Chips And the best saved till last Good old Fashion Fish & Chips. There was a lot on the plate so doggy bags needed. The cost was under 3,000 baht. Great price The pubs staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

Excellent staff, really looked after my granny and step dad who had suffered a stroke. Made to feel welcome at every visit. And the dog there at an evening was so well looked after and as a dog owner I can tell when a dogs happy and he certainly was. The food catered for everyone from english meals to thai. Next time I'm in chiang mai I will return.

Fantastic pub, great owner, lovely outdoor vibe in a cool part of town and most importantly awesome quality imported beers from England, Belgium , Germany etc AND the prices are just right. Not overpriced like other places. Don't change a thing, we love this place. Always a good go to with mates for a chit chat and a good beer

We have a family diner here and we order the Thai food menu which the fish is not fresh and powdery, the green curry is sauce is not thick thought the pork knuckle is nice give it a 4 star. Few years ago we had good time here and the standard is lowered now.

Ok... This is the reason why I give them a 3. We arrive for lunch time there were only 2 waitress and around 20 people (but must of them finishing their lunch). We were 4 people. We order drinks and take around 15 min and 1 hour for a lemonade. The beverage are really small and price expensive. Food was really good. Decor of the place really COOL!!!! Is more an sport bar to have beers not for eat. And they need more staff Is very popular place for white people.

Ok pub if you get homesick and want a beer. Had the IPA and the Speckled Hen from a can and a draught Guinness all good. The Sunday lunch was way below average. Beef was thinly sliced chewy & dry the veggie assortment mainly from a tin I would say and the potatoes were ok ( possibly deep fried) the gravy was thin but tasty, overall not a great meal. I liked the original music - I must be getting old!!

This is England and English food and drink of the 1970s. Great comfort for 70+ year olds but completely foreign to any English person younger than that. Not sure this kind of place has existed in England for 30 years+ (I’ve never been to a place like this in the U.K.) The beers in particular are very old men’s drinks in England, where anyone under the age of 60 is drinking craft, IPA, etc. Nonetheless if that’s what you want, it’s got great service and looks the part. I think if I were to suggest improvements it would be to focus more on 60s era, Beatles, etc. tunes and upgrade the food to the 21st century England..

  • 2/5 Inma C. 4 months ago on Google
Slow service: had to wait 40 minutes for a salad and a tuna sandwich which by the way, had no siders and the bread was not even a bit toasted. Just like a homemade meal. Both time and food quality could be improved. Staff was kind on another hand.

Here on a short Visa run, I ate here a few times. Seems very popular with the local English, Irish and Aussie expats. Traditional pub menu plus some local add ons. I think the food is great, but I love pub food. Service is great. Take out business was busy. Very inexpensive w/ a nice beer selection. A semi outdoor restaurant in a cool location, next to the open air market.

5 stars for being what they appear to be ; a classic english pub; guinness on tap and many other beers; all staffers speak good english, 220 baht for a tap pint of guinness; older lady opens the place 9 ish, arranges everything and then leaves while turning over operations to a younger crew; older lady served me beer well before legal time; not a small place good outside, covered seating, some inside; clean western bathrooms, no parking; they serve english pub grub here; this place has been here forever, 20 years ago , on american thanksgicing, they offerred a good thanksgiving feast, turkey, stuffing, etc; so the place is a landmark, i conside night pubbing to be a young mans game , so i dont do much of it, but i am told this place is packed every night; all expats

Nice English pub with great Thai food! Got the pad thai which was really yum and only a little more than you’d usually pay in a quieter area of the city. Location is right near the night markets so it’s a great place to stop and eat before/after a night’s shopping. The staff were very friendly and service was quick and the menu has heaps of both Thai and foreign food and drink options, so it caters for everyone. There also was a soccer game playing on a huge TV so I imagine it’d be a great place to have a drink at.

This restaurant/bar performed far above expectations. The restaurant offers not only classic English cuisine but also some of the best Thai food I have had so far on my holiday. I had the mussaman curry which was a really nice dish. Also the waiter who took care of our dinner was very prompt and showed real care for our experience at the restaurant. This is not simply just another English bar!!

Food and pricing is standard farang fair. Sports bar with the usual half dozen screens of varying sizes. Service is quick and friendly and the food is good. Can be a pain to get to as the one way system does suck slightly. Venturing around junctions the wrong way will get you there quicker and easier but be aware that the local law enforcement are usually very close and very observant.

Red Lion is one of Chiang Mai's premier pubs. British food and beers predominate but German, Irish and Thai dishes are also in the menu. The '60's music and Liverpool supporting landlord add to the ambiance. Well worth a visit.
