I found this hotel after arriving in Chiang Ma at 11pm and realizing that I had accidentally booked my original hotel for the day following my arrival and that original hotel was fully booked for the night I arrived. I desperately called nearby hotels, with the Mercure having a room available for that night. The best thing about the hotel was Tara, the absolutely wonderful late shift front desk associate who got me squared away with a room immediately. She is extremely warm, polite, and her English is fantastic. If you check in later in the evening, please give her a warm hello, because she is tier one. She is the reason that this particular hotel has a 5 star rating and not a 4. The air conditioning in the hotel rooms was fantastic, if you are not a fan of hot weather, the hotels AC was bar none exceptional. The room service menu was quite limited but everything I ordered from the menu was quite appetizing and of good value. The location is slightly north of the old city but still within a very convenient distance to the old town. My primary dissatisfaction with the hotel were only that there were no towels in my room when I arrived but that was quickly squared away by alerting the hotel staff. The second issue was that the water in the shower was not very hot and that was the only annoyance that was not something that could not be addressed.

The hotel is a little bit outside from downtown or attractions so I would not recommend to go to downtown by walking but the staff at the reception are always supporting in order to get a taxi and explained the driver where you want to go. The room I got is a delux room with one bed and is really big, I was not expecting this kind of size , including the bathroom, there is not doubt this hotel could be a very good option for travelers. Just be aware that cleanness is not really one of their strengths, at least from what I see in my room they can improve in small details. Don’t get worried about finding trash or some other things what you don’t want to find but what I mean is that I found small details that I think they could do better.

A little dated, but very well managed and maintained. You’d get the 90s or even 80s vibes. One of the best features of this hotel is the friendly staff, large and spacious room, and location. It’s also very well priced. However, there’s no carpeting in the room or in the hallway, you can hear clicking sounds as people are walking on the hallway. And worst, my neighbors kept on dragging their chairs all night and it’s very loudly audible. Perhaps add rubbers to dampen the furniture sounds? Charming hotel and wonderful staff, in general. If not for the thin walls, I’d rate this 10 out of 10.

I have never written a review of places I have stayed, but I enjoyed my time at Mercure Chiang Mai so much that I felt obligated to express my thanks and opinion. Yes, as other reviews have stated, the hotel's decor is a bit dated and could do with a renovation, but the location is perfect for those wanting to explore the old city. What really makes the hotel amazing however are the staff! They made us feel welcome the minute we arrived and were always willing to assist in any way possible. It is to them that this review is dedicated. Being in the hospitality industry myself I know how important it is to have guests leave your facility feeling that they have had a wonderful experience, as that is what your facility will be remembered for. This is certainly something the staff (and management) at Mercure Chiang Mai know how to achieve and ensure that guests arrive and leave with a smile. To all of you I express my thanks and keep up the amazing work!

We stayed here for 3 nights. At this price, it was a great value and I will definitely return. Bed was super big. But only came with 2 pillows. We asked for more and they were delivered immediately. The staff were very attentive. There was no toothbrush and bathrobes in the room and again, they brought them almost instantly after we requested. The building is somewhat old but it has been renovated recently. Breakfast was just ok. I would not have purchased it separately if it didn’t come with the room. The location is great. There’s a supermarket right next door and several temples are within walking distance. Something to improve: shower head angle/position could not be adjusted.

Couple of visits and checking in went smoothly and pleasant. Although quite dated hotel but clean, tidy, with large room and very big bed and hot shower. Adequate breakfast with this friendly pricing and there’s plenty parking spaces. Next to Tops supermarket so it’s very convenient too.

A classic, old Thai hotel: pleasant, smiling service; rooms are large, comfortable, and clean; there is a pool but no gym (at least 6 excellent gyms nearby offering a daily pass for <200 baht); limited but adequate buffet breakfast; wifi works; very affordable.

Large size clean rooms, hotel is a bit past it’s heyday but lovely helpful staff and a big variety breakfast spread makes up for it, great value accommodation in cm

It was a nice stay. Room was decent compare with the price. A little bit outdated but has its charm. Hotel staffs are helpful. Not to far from city center and close to local fresh market with food court inside.

Hotel is very dated, in dire need of an upgrade. Decor and furnishings seem to be from 30 years ago. The hotel also lacks fitness equipment / gym, which is bizarre for such a large hotel of a reputable brand. Sound proofing is poor - noise from traffic and hallway can be heard clearly. Especially when you have guests slamming their room doors all night. The great attitude of their staff seems to be its only saving grace.

All the hotel staffs from door man, reception, waitresses, concierge etc are very friendly and making us feel so welcome. The hotel is old but is clean and well maintained. The swimming pool is small and deep, so it's not suitable for small children. It's located almost just next to a local fresh food market where you can get delicious food, drinks and snacks at very good prices.

The hotel is a little dated. A bugbear of mine is the coffeemate in the room rather than milk. As usual, I cannot fault the staff. Reasonable prices

My family and I had a wonderful stay here. The hotel itself is clean and maintained. The staff here is extraordinary to say the least. They will go above and beyond to accommodate your needs. Breakfast was fresh and had different menu everyday.

This is a pleasant place with a fine breakfast. I was disappointed by the internet performance. When I asked the hotel they said it's because the hotel was full. They had no proper back up service for customers. So the lesson is if you need to make a business video internet call don't rely on the internet provided.

A very good recently renovated hotel with spacious room and very large comfortable bed. There is no bathtub and a bit awkward electricity wall sockets layout. The staff was friendly and helpful. There are a grocery store and markets nearby. We definitely will go back again.

Nice hotel located just outside the main historical district of Chiang Mai. The rooms are comfortable and bathrooms updated. There is a nice lobby area and the hotel restaurant is good. The Mercure is located next to a Tops supermarket and there are several restaurants and shops within easy walking distance of the hotel. They also have an airport shuttle if needed since it can be a delay to find a taxi.

We stayed in the hotel for few days. Everything was good and well. The staff were very hospitable and friendly, especially Ms Tara has exceptionally helpful and professional. I believe staff like her is an asset to any organisation. Keep up the good work..

The hotel is very outdated and poorly equipped. The room we had was dirty, the bathroom was covered with someone else’s hair as same as bedding sheet which wasn’t changed from previous guest. The pool area also in bad condition with trashy pool beds and dirty mattresses. The breakfast was ok

Very quiet as Chiang Mai has been nowhere near Bangkok in the speed of Covid recovery. Got upgraded to a Junior suite, which was huge, with 2 separate bathrooms. Furniture and decor a bit dated, but actually seemed to add to the charm of the place. Breakfast catered to Thai and European taste and was decent. Staff excellent, very polite and helpful. I considered for the price an excellent choice and would happily stay there on any further trips to that area of Thailand.

The staff are excellent and welcoming. The corridors are tiled so there is noise from the corridors. Some guests have no manners and talk/slam doors. Not much the hotel can do about that. You may not smoke in the beer garden, which is a shame. That said, the room was very comfortable and immaculately cleaned, I slept well and had a good view. I liked the shower - it's well designed so you don't wet the bathroom floor. The hot water is a bit anaemic for shaving though. The location is not bad, 20 minutes' walk to the town but markets are only ten minutes away. Supermarket adjacent. I'd stay here again.

Overall good stay, hotel is at a good location, convenient with grocery store next door and many other service at walking distance. Since we were there on a weekend didnt get much traffic also. Tried breakfast as well one morning which was also not bad. Not a lot of variety but for the price it was worth it. Even the hotel stay, for the price it was ok but expect little better quality from a branded chain as this hotel needs refurbishment. But still they have very good service staff at all departments from Front office for check-in, housekeeping assistance was prompt, and bell desk service also. F&B service people also very hospitable at the breakfast restaurant.
