This gym is overall very nice. Some really great instructors and friendly staff. Facility has a lot to offer. I gave this review 3 stars because they recently fired their entire cleaning staff. I do not like when a company isn’t loyalty to their people. It says a lot about the company as a whole. I believe they fired them because they didn’t want to pay them more which they deserve because the facility is a lot of upkeep. Also, they have you pay a one time initiation fee for “complimentary” classes. Put that money towards your hard working staff instead of making us pay for classes that are suppose to be free.

There is no enforcement of mask mandates at this gym. Extremely unsafe. I recommend other gyms in the area. Have had to resort to reporting them to the city Update 12/13: attached is a photo of a trainer (Melinda) hanging out indoors without a mask.

So much potential - member for ~8 months I have been unable to use the facilities I pay for due to overcrowding and a terrible pool reservations system. I was told back in sept that the pool reservation system would be electronic, but I still have to call for a lane and it is never respected or enforced. I am sick of having to ask for my reservation to be respected, but it isn't really the guests fault. On top of that, the pool is mostly occupied by special activities they rent out the pool for. Want to swim in the evening, nope, a swim club has the pool. Want to swim in the morning, nope, advanced swim club has the pool. Want to swim on the weekend, nope, private swim lessons. Very disappointing, I just want to workout. I suppose I should just pay extra to join a swim club or something? Nearly a bait and switch situation. The restaurant is full from time to time and makes eating after a workout difficult. Most tables are full for remote workers. I can't blame the guests, but management is not helpful, holding tables for parties that are not present. Food is normally good, thankfully. I probably would just take my business elsewhere, but I am locked into the contract... 400/mo for a couple.

I am a former member and was looking to get back into tennis. I have very fond memories of my time at Midtown before the renovation. I almost rejoined online and decided to get a tour just to make sure it still was a great place. The front desk was surprised to see me and then a membership person finally came and called me the wrong name. They looked at me and said “oh did you not get our prices before you came?” They also made some snarky comments about how since I was a nurse I could easily find a doctor to write me a note to get the membership cancelled if it was too expensive. Mind you this is like within 5 minutes of meeting and was extremely off putting. The tour was very quick and this membership person made it clear they hadn’t anticipated my arrival and were in a hurry to do other things. Throughout the brief tour they kept framing the clubs features as things I couldn’t use since I’m a travel nurse. I know I’m not the only person who travels for work or is in the medical field at that club. Strange. Unsurprisingly, I decided not to rejoin even tho I had fully planned on it. The membership person provided me very limited info on tennis offerings. When I joined the first time around I left my very charming club tour with a plan to join classes, private lessons, and a few tennis social groups. Apparently, that’s not an option anymore. I’m sad the midtown of past is gone, as there is not many other places to play tennis in the city. I guess I’ll just spend more time with my horses! I will say the club was very pretty and I can see why others like it.

I must say that this nice gym has a hotel in it! This hotel has the most impressive gym I've ever seen. When you stay at the hotel, you get to use the facilities. Otherwise, I would not be able to afford the hefty fees to go here. The gym is so nicely decorated. So many machines. I noticed a lot of people would come to the gym, hang out, work on their laptop and then use the gym. There is even a golf simulator - two of them actually! The walls in the hotel room are a bit thin, as you can hear weights dropping and group classes, but the attentive staff provides earplugs to mitigate the noise. The room is spacious with a well-thought-out layout. Overall, a great experience for fitness enthusiasts.

Went in for a tour and didn’t see diversity among members. Unless they want me to count two Black tennis pros as ample representation. I asked a membership rep about this and received a canned response about Midtown being a luxury club. He signaled Black and Brown diversity by pointing out interior design and artwork commissioned by artists of color — and Serena Williams. One: Having Serena Williams design your space helps the club and not minority groups. She’s the greatest tennis player in the world who just happens to be Black. Two: The staff was super diverse. But not members. Interior design can’t make my Mixed race (Black and Latina) child feel more comfortable when I drop her off at Kidtown. I just wanted a real response, a willingness to engage and dialogue. He could have said, here’s the canned response I’ve been trained to give and here are my personal thoughts. I don’t know what we’re doing to engage the Black and Brown community. But I’m going to find out. I wasn’t gearing for a discount. Black and Brown people purchase many luxury items. Now It seems that institutions like Midtown feel like their work is done.

I recently became a member and do like the gym and classes so far. With that said, the outdoor pool is like a Chuck E. Cheese experience that caters to families with kids and not at all to adults. I would expect more from a gym that brands itself as a luxury gym, resort experience. There needs to be separate pool areas that separate families from adults. I don’t see myself spending much time at the pool.

Mediocre for the price. The gym space is fairly small and overcrowded. They continue to raise our membership fees based on keeping the club “exclusive”. That doesn’t help with it being too crowded. I first joined when the gym was still under construction and the membership price has gone up several times since. I did enjoy the yoga room and some of the instructors. They recently fired all the cleaning staff who were great. Personally, this gym wasn’t for me. I canceled my membership this month.

Best gym in the city, I love it. Always clean and beautiful. Very nice rooftop pool and sauna. Yoga studio is very cute as well and they have great tennis facilities if you're into that. Its not overly crowded, parking is super convenient too. I do wish they had more guest passes, 3 in a year is pretty stringent even for luxury gyms.

They need to put the bike rack back outside instead of painting more car parking spots. I’ve had many close calls with oblivious Range Rover Karens inside the parking garage because that’s where the bike rack is now. Cyclists and pedestrians shouldn’t have to risk injury to lock their bikes inside the garage.

Midtown's response to our COVID was concerning. My husband and I communicated on multiple occasions that we are not able to attend the gym while COVID is of high risk due to underlying medical conditions and due to the fact that my husband is a front line healthcare worker. While the club has made attempts to minimize COVID exposure, they have had confirmed exposures at the club, so by no means is it full proof. The responses to our concerns felt robotic and disconnected. We were met with monthly dues to keep our membership on hold that "can't be waived". We can't take the risk of exposure and felt it was inappropriate to pay for a membership to be on hold while we act responsibly to protect ourselves and others of this deadly virus.

First off, I’m a current member stuck in a year long contract with Midtown, so don’t believe the lies by mgmt. Midtown is a private gym with newer equipment compared to East Bank Club, and membership includes free parking. However, this gym can become very crowded, due to over-selling memberships(eg..no available treadmills). Too many children on property, especially in the summer- just forget using the outdoor pool. And only one option to place your account on hold - medical reasons. Joining and re-joining fee is $350+..and forget terminating your membership before your one year contract is up unless you can provide documentation of relocation- very old fashioned and somewhat illegal.

Updated review: in my past review below, I complained about too many kids in the pool. This will likely still be an issue going forward, but I'm bumping this review up to 5 stars to show appreciation for how seriously Midtown has taken their COVID safety effort and how comfortable I feel at the club because of those efforts. The club is the only place I go besides the grocery store and it's saving my sanity. Thank you Midtown for all your efforts. Best of luck with the ongoing crazy situation and best wishes that all employees stay safe and well. Old Review: This club has everything, but there are way too many kids in the pool and basically no control over them. If they ever get around to building the rumored family pool, so that there's finally an adult only pool, it'll be the best club on the city by far. Until then, I can't go over 3 stars. Edit: in response to the owner's response - it's the outdoor pool that has too many kids and there is no schedule. There's only 10-15 min adult swim each hour. The indoor pool has scheduled kids classes, but that's not where people want to hang out; it's lane swimming and not overrun with kids. So to clarify, they need to sort out the situation with the kids in the OUTDOOR pool.

Unsanitary and Unsafe Members constantly wear sweaty gym clothes, shoes and use cell phones in steam and sauna, it’s super gross and smelly ruining the luxe vibe of the otherwise great club. My family has belonged to this club for the past 7 years. A huge draw for me is club is spa-like locker room with a great steam shower and sauna. Steam and Sauna spaces are ancient inventions for cleansing and purifying your body through sweating out toxins and are meant to be used naked, so your skin can literally sweat out toxins. Immaculate towels are plentiful at the club, and anyone can use as many as they like/ However the club allows people to to steam and sauna in their sweaty gym clothes, with people often wearing gym shoes in the sauna bringing tons of bacteria and grime. The club also allows people to use CELL PHONES in the STEAM ROOM and in the SAUNA. This is a huge invasion of privacy as these devices are all cameras connected to the internet- and when heated, they are also obviously emitting harmful chemicals as well. According to the World Health Organization, “The electromagnetic fields produced by mobile phones are classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as possibly carcinogenic to humans.” What happens when you heat them to 120- 150 degrees fahrenheit and keep them in a tiny space? The whole situation is just disgusting and depressing. All the club needs is clear and proper signage. Have asked management politely to amend situation for 2 years and nothing changes. Maybe I am the crazy one and steam and saunas are just hot wet places to look at your phone?

Hi, I had a tour scheduled today at 12:00 pm with Brandon. We made it to the appointment on time and after about 17 min of waiting another person named Aaron comes in and stated , Brandon is not here he left for his child’s game or something like that and then Aaron took us back to the lobby and pointed to the TV screen and said we have renovation going on this is how it is going to look like by the end of the year. There is nothing much to see and you still want to see around ? We don’t want to disturb the classes ………This was the most unwelcoming and don’t want to sell attitude I have ever seen. I left the facility to never come back! I am not sure how these people are scheduling for tours and the minimum to zero effort in customer service / marketing amazes me. If such is the staff that work there I am not sure how it will be once you get inside on daily basis.

THE BEST FAMILY FRIENDLY CLUB IN CHICAGO! The Reasonable Competitive Pricing is one of the reasons for Negative Comments. ITS OK IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD IT, there’s other options like Planet Fitness or Xsport Fitness which both have become Bathing facilities for the masses. The Children at Midtown make the facility feel like a big Family. It’s sad to read neg comments about kids enjoying their memberships. The outdoor pool season has come to an end and glad to say it was nice to witness a fun successful playful summer in action. Come check out THE #1 GYM IN CHICAGO for yourself and ignore the sharp criticism from the minority of tight budgeted negative commenters. MIDTOWN IS FAMILY AND FRIENDS APPROVED !

On our most recent visit I was disappointed to see that it’s not very clean. The walls in the outdoor pool are covered in a slimy black mold. The stairs to the parking garage are filthy, covered with dirt and grease. Both need to be power washed. Bathrooms have dirty and peeling caulk in the showers. Glass on the doors is cloudy and smudged. It’s taken a downturn in the past few months.

My experience at Midtown has been amazing. Good amount of workout machines, very clean, great staff, great cocktails for those days 😀. The staff at the the front desk lobby makes me feel welcome at all the time. The staff at the spa is wonderful, my hairstylist Rebecca she AWESOME!!! I would love to try all the classes, but I’m too busy, hopefully one day though 😉. Thank you to the team who makes all the things possible and kept us safe and healthy throughout the pandemic. THANK YOU!!

I originally signed up with Midtown based on a recommendation from a friend. My experience this past year has been positive overall, and I have no particular complaints. The membership fee is quite expensive, but in contrast to other gyms I have attended, the facility is comfortable and clean, the equipment is well organized and works properly, and the staff are all helpful and friendly. Crowding is occasionally an issue during peak times, but that is expected. I think the biggest differentiator with this facility is the services they offer. I have worked with a few of their trainers, but in particular James has been excellent. I began personal training as part of a physical therapy recovery plan, and the progress I have been able to make with James has been a huge benefit to my well being. That alone has helped transform my experience at Midtown from good to great, and I would recommend both as a result.

Decided to join regardless of some of the poor reviews In regards to management while I was in town for work over the summer of 2021. While there are many of the class schedules were shifted without warning, Had multiple dissatisfying experiences with rude servers at the café, chased down management for over a week to review security camera footage while both requesting in person and calling every day, and was conveniently not made aware of the cutoff for membership cancellation although asking management personally and making them aware that I was only joining for three months, which resulted in being billed an additional month despite having moved across the state. I’ve had better customer service and communication from xsport and other low tier gyms, and while i had initially planned on rejoining when I moved back to the city in a few months my experiences there assure that I will not be coming back.

My experience was decent prior to the pandemic. However, they decided to start charging again for membership without communicating to us that they were reopening (without any of the amenities we actually joined for.) When brought to the attention of the manager, we were met with rudeness and a condescending take-it or leave it attitude. We chose not to continue our membership due to the rudeness and lack of communication paired with the substandard amenities currently offered during the pandemic without any corresponding discount or scaled down costs due to only part of the place being open/available for use. They still managed to take our money in an auto-draft and refused to refund us. (I have spoken with several other families since who have gone through the same thing as us.) Customer service here is something they really need to work on. Shameful really.

As a previous employer I must do a review, the place is one of the best facilities as far as gym and hotel with everything they provide can be really impressive. As an employee I really had a hard time growing or seeking new opportunities while employed. I worked before and through the beginning of the pandemic and volunteered for mainly every big project possible to no avail. (No raise for 2 years) my experience got me employed as a technician with over 10 years and all that was vanished as we were told we were hiring help. Some of HELP had no experience at all in any type of maintenance and I was now helping help. Then new help was hired to help the help. There goes my raise. I guess you have to have friends to help you get these types of positions. Lucky how some us can be, As complications got worse for me because I spoke out I was treated in some way as an outsider in my department. (Which didn't bother me until my business relating work was constantly questioned) made attempts to seek help on what to do but with higher position being told lies I knew I couldn't grow or just get better at my job. When you disagree with the bad practices like not recognizing seniority or HELP passing interior training as group questions counted for everyone's grades and answers what was the point of studying or learning to improve if we were just provided correct the answers. I had to quit what I thought was a good job. To the future employer, it may be risky to speak your mind in this place to higher positions. To members I guess as long as staff does they're job you'll be in good hands. Thank you for your response Michael and yes doing a whole lot better now that I don't deal with that type of treatment at a work place.

New member and so far I like it a lot. There ARE TWO things Midtown needs. ....a high powered whirl pool in the women's locker room....what is a spa experience without a whirlpool? I don't care at all for sharing a whirlpool with men. Period. And.....an indoor running track is also a high necessity. Also..... if Midtown would please have a puppy daycare / boot camp for members' pups while they work out. That would be AWESOME and cutting edge. My two pitty pups and I would LOVE that. Midtown! = please consider :)

Haven’t been to the gym for a couple months due to having a baby. Called to receive pricing Thursday 9/9/2021. Received pricing. Membership told me I can schedule a visit online. Scheduled my visit online over the weekend for Monday early AM. Babysitter scheduled to come early morning. Woke up Monday at 6AM excited to start my exercise routine back up. Had a credit card and ID ready to pay. I get there and the lady at the front desk tells me I can’t get in and I need to talk to a membership advisor who gets in at 9am. Her and the second lady at the front desk are pretty much useless from what it sounded like. I asked if I can at least see the facility since I was already there. They said no. I pointed out that I scheduled my visit for today at 630am and that if I wasn’t able to come then they shouldn’t have let me schedule. They said that someone needs to get back to me and I am absolutely not allowed to go in or even see it. Absolutely terrible customer service. The lady had no empathy and did not offer any alternative options. Crazy part is that they probably would’ve had two memberships plus child care from me. I don’t even know if I wanna go back there. Looking into Equinox now. It’s been 48 hours and I still didn’t get a follow up from a ‘membership advisor’ after scheduling my visit. FFC, Equinox, WAC all reached out within 24 hours.

It’s the perfect gym. Only thing that is making me consider canceling my membership is the kids. Too many kids running around everywhere. I’m paying close to $300 to hear kids screaming and acting reckless. The gym shouldn’t allow kids passed 7pm. What a shame, this is not a day care👎🏻

I've been a member at Midtown Chicago for about two years now and I could not be happier. Is it more expensive than a 24 hour fitness or equinox? Yes. But you get what you pay for, and if you actually use the gym, then it's more than worth every penny. Between the wide variety of classes, amazing equipment, beautiful facilities (have you seen the yoga studio!?!), and exceptional staff, you really do get a bang for your buck here. 10/10, would recommend.

Beautiful facility. Much less personal than the old Midtown tennis club where our kids grew up. This is now more of a mega gym than a club. My biggest gripe is that there are too many people at peak times. For the price, I would like to have better pool, cardio, machine and yoga class access. Further, there are frequently 4-7 staff at the front desk, 2 on the other side plus “coaches on duty” largely doing nothing. Since entrance is automated for all but families, I would rather see my monthly fees reduced than have extra staff doing nothing.

I've been to multiple different affiliates and this is hands-down the best one I've been too. I was only dropping in but I would workout here full time if I could. The workouts are incredibly challenging and they coaches are easy going but helpful. Will definitely be dropping in again next time I'm in the area.

Yikes, talk about going downhill..you would hope this organization had a higher level of integrity with its grossly inflated membership fees. Their GMs (constant turnover) and their questionable choices reflect a genuine lack of care for simple honesty, honoring their word or caring about their clients, its rather disturbing. Even documented commitments are not honored. Sadly, it’s no longer a Midtown family, today Midtown seems to prioritize greed and their ego. They don’t seem to care about what they used to, the people. And yet, they keep raising membership fees as though they aren’t outrageous enough. It’s too bad, it was once my happy place. Greed ruins a lot 🥲

The Midtown Athletic Club was a lot of fun. Over 500,000 square feet of space to do (or at least practice) pretty much any sport you can imagine. From crossfit to boxing, and weightlifting to swimming, toy can do it all. The place also has a hotel upstairs which I stayed at that was beautiful. This is a definite best kept secret in Chicago.

I understand that every business is learning to cope with new challenges, but their pool reservation system is nothing short of a disaster. All members should be permitted to use the facilities in a fair manner. This can only be accomplished if the club fairly allocates reservations. Right now a small number of members are quickly securing all available reservations. The app is slow, inconsistent, and crashes constantly. I expect more given the amount money I pay.

Great gym for many reasons, but chief among them for us was the expertise, knowledge, and interpersonal dynamic of their trainers. All were friendly, and appeared to be good at what they do, but our specific experience with the personal trainer Jeff was second to none. He provided invaluable insight and help, always willing to provide coaching and tips even when he was working the floor or doing other things. He really, really knows his stuff and was exceptionally personable. Having a team member like him on board was a massive blessing for our time at Midtown.

  • 3/5 Dan 4 years ago on Google
The weight area is too small and they are missing basic equipment such as a calf raise machine and dedicated tricep dip station. They devote too much space to group exercise rooms, flashy restaurant, oversized sitting area, and golf simulators, so there is not enough for a proper weight room layout. *In response to the reply below, that is an assisted dip/pull up machine designed for people who cannot hold their own body weight and demonstrates the problem with the level of equipment in your gym. If you want to charge top of the market price, then you need to provide pro grade equipment like real commercial dumbbells (not those cheapo hex ones), dedicated dip stations, and more weight machines for calf raises and shoulder press.

Midtown is a lifestyle club you buy access to, not just a gym. The staff I have encountered, no matter the department (tennis, personal training, restaurant), seem to be trained in hospitality and genuinely appear to enjoy working for the family-owned company. Very clean and well-run all around. Oftentimes when leaving Midtown, I feel that I just left a spa or mini-vacation, not a gym. Yes, you're doing to have to pay for it, but there is nothing else in the city quite like it - and no, Equinox isn't an accurate comp ;)

I really enjoy it here— I’ve been a member for about a year. I just finished my first tennis course (TNT) and will be continuing lessons this Spring. Just went to the shop to check out rackets and the associate at the store - her name’s Alana - helped me pick one to borrow and test out for my lesson tomorrow morning. Super helpful!

My brother recently became a member of Midtown. He got me a guest pass this weekend, which allowed me to experience the club, in addition to taking in spa treatments. Ashley H. checked us in and was very kind to explain the amenities on the first floor. They’re women’s locker room contains a gorgeous, dry, sauna, and wet. Sauna, which was really nice to enjoy before I had my massage. Shawn U. was my massage therapist. He customize my 90 minute deep tissue massage to treat the different ailments I was experiencing. Afterwords I went back to enjoy the dry sauna and relax. It’s truly a mindful experience working with him. I then was able to get a smoothie and hang out in the restaurant upstairs and get some work done on my laptop. And then return to the Jacuzzi pool area where I got to get some movement in which was a lot easier after my massage therapy. The really lovely team at the front desk was a pleasure to talk with at the end of the evening. Krissa K. shared with me all the information I needed to know about tennis, in addition to some other services that they offer there. David N. was kind as well. Looking forward to returning to Midtown soon, and maybe might even join myself.

My fiance and I recently became members at Midtown after going back and forth between other luxury athletic clubs. Ultimately we chose Midtown because I was really impressed with the facility, the amenities, and all of the staff we met. The gym was not only clean but also had ample cardio equipment which was of interest to me. They even recently added even more to the space and did not increase our dues which was great and not very common at other gyms i've experienced who usually raise dues to make new things happen. They also have classes you don't have to sign up ahead of time for (which is SO convenient) and I attend typically in the morning or midday and I have not once had to wait for a treadmill or machine I needed. What also impressed me was the person we worked with Nicholas, was attentive, and to this day continues to help us with different questions we have. I would've expected once he made "the sale" that he would be less accommodating but that is not the case and he continues to make us feel supported even 4 months into our membership and even with our admin type questions. Some would say that the monthly fee is too much if you are just working out but I disagree, it feels like a community, they host events, the pool is soon to be open and you just feel better being in there and that is the energy I need if I am going to stick to my goals. Very grateful for Midtown.

Midtown has gone above and beyond to continue to offer (safe) group fitness classes during COVID shutdowns, etc. Getting to know the instructors and seeing friendly (masked) faces in class has been a bright spot in this crazy year!

Great Amenities and Service. Clean changing rooms and showers. Well stocked on supplies. On the whole a little bit expensive, but there is no other way to get all of these options in the city proper.

The only gym I trust during COVID. Safe, clean, spaced out. It’s not cheap but it’s worth being able to safely escape for a while.

Midtown is doing a phenomenal job providing a clean, safe space to work out – including socially distanced equipment indoors and outdoors, two floors of converted garage space with good airflow for classes. Hard to beat the variety and quality of the equipment and classes.

I love Midtown! They have an amazing facility with the best staff, classes and group fitness instructors. I have felt very safe working out there throughout Covid. Couldn’t recommend it enough! The pool is also amazing in the summer!

I've been a Midtown member for over 25 years. Aside from all the wonderful offerings that attract members they have to be commended for the work they're doing with reduced staff to create lasting value during these challenging times. Everyone is cleaning, no job is beneath anyone, and they still do it with a smile and a willingness to help.

I've been a proud member of Midtown Athletic Club for nearly two years now, and let me tell you, it's nothing short of spectacular. To me, Midtown is the country club of the city, offering an unparalleled fitness experience that's worth every penny. The first thing you'll notice is the top-notch equipment - it's like a fitness enthusiast's dream come true. The gym is meticulously maintained, shining like a beacon of cleanliness. The staff? Well, they're the true MVPs - always attentive, friendly, and ready to lend a helping hand. One of the most remarkable aspects of Midtown is that you'll never find yourself twiddling your thumbs waiting for a machine. It's a seamless experience, a testament to the careful planning that goes into ensuring every member can make the most of their time. Now, let's address the elephant in the room - the membership fees. Yes, they're on the steeper side, but consider it an investment in your peace of mind. This isn't just a gym; it's a sanctuary free from any lurking creeps or social media fiends. The members here take their fitness seriously, and it shows. But here's a little secret: Midtown isn't just about pumping iron. The on-site restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is nothing short of fantastic, and the staff there rival any five-star establishment. Many times, I've found myself heading over just for a meal, and it never disappoints. What sets Midtown apart, however, is the vibe. It's an atmosphere of dedication and camaraderie that's contagious. There's a sense of purpose here that's truly inspiring. And with a limited membership, you'll never face the dreaded gym rush hour - it's like having your own private fitness haven. Sure, there's a waiting list for new members, but I see that as a testament to Midtown's commitment to maintaining its unique atmosphere. It's a place where quality takes precedence over quantity, and it makes all the difference. In a nutshell, Midtown Athletic Club isn't just a gym - it's an experience. If you're looking for a fitness sanctuary that combines world-class facilities, impeccable service, and a supportive community, this is the place to be. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Love this gym! They are an oasis during these times when there aren't many places you can go to get out of the house. The gym is kept spotless and I've always felt completely safe. You can tell the staff and management really care about their members. Also, there is a TON of natural light and the interior is beautiful.

Midtown is the best! It’s super clean and such a nice place to go work out. I think the staff has done a great job at keeping the members safe and informed about putting memberships on hold and deadlines, as well as keeping us in the loop in regards to any changes happening. I’d also like to say Bryan F Deserves a raise, I was there almost everyday this summer and he was super helpful and always working like crazy. Midtown is the best club in Chicago hands down. I'd also like to add Danielle Brown was super helpful today! Answered all my questions and was super patient with me while she had a ton of calls coming in she still was there to assist me. Thank you Danielle!!

First time working out at Midtown, and I've got to say, what a lovely gym. I love the weight area, especially having a nice breeze come through and being able to walk outside. What was even better, I can see the pool down below as I stepped outside for a small break from lifting. The spa blew me away. So therapeutic as you walk in and see a large Buddha staring at you. The locker rooms were very clean and loved the design. The best part, you can also do some shopping for yoga pants on the first floor.

I had called regarding a hold on my account due to COVID-19, and the extreme spikes within the city of Chicago. First, they said that I cannot put a hold on my account for the month of December because the due date to do that was the 25th? I think it should be understandable that I would want to put a hold after seeing the amount of traveling that has been done around Thanksgiving. Also, they are only allowing three month holds at a time, which is frustrating that they are offering zero flexibility at this unprecedented time. Wouldn't you want to give people the flexibility to have holds for a shorter amount of time? Isn't that more money in your pockets? I'm trying to do my best to keep not only myself but those who go to the gym safe as I will be around people that have traveled, and I want to do my part in quarantining. Shouldn't that be encouraged? I can recognize that Midtown has done their best to keep their facilities clean, but their policies should be a lot more flexible in this time, as members should be encouraged to not come in if they or someone in their household has been exposed to COVID. It makes me concerned how other members feel, as I'm sure a lot of people don't want $200 to go to waste, and they might be coming when they shouldn't be. Midtown, do the right thing and work with people during a global pandemic. This is enough to make me cancel my membership completely, and I'm sure those with families and children and immunocompromised family members would agree.

Midtown Athletic Club has become my HEALT & MENTAL well-being AND lifeline especially during these times we are in with COVID-19. This family at this CLUB is always helpful. And the facility goes far beyond our expectations in meeting CDC guidelines. The SPA though limited right now - still far exceeds others SPA's in town. Thank you Midtown. Jim

Coach is AWESOME! Ray and I were totally beginner at the beginning, and after 10 lessons, we can play for games!! It's important to find a great coach to teach you so you learn the right way of playing and you won't get hurt. Coach McClain not only taught us skills but also told us how to avoid hurting ourselves while playing. Highly recommend!!

Phenomenal facility and Nick in sales is the best. He did an incredible job of giving me a tour, as well as explaining to me all that Midtown could offer. I was so impressed I came back a few days later for my fiancé to check out the place. Less than a week later we are members! Nick really is a gem, and I’m not sure I would’ve joined if it wasn’t for him being so personable and really taking time to understand what I was looking for in a club. We are excited to continue our fitness journeys there, and I can’t wait to get back into tennis. This is one of the few facilities in Chicago with indoor tennis. The place is spotless, very mindful of Covid in mask-wearing/sanitation practices, and has so much to offer. The price is higher than I anticipated, but for all of the offerings it was the only place that made sense for me. If you’re considering it, definitely take a tour. And if you’re lucky enough to get Nick, you won’t be disappointed!

Midtown is doing a great job keeping every space clean, sanitized, and distanced for members use. I mostly stay in the outdoor workout areas, but I would be very comfortable using indoor equipment as the weather gets colder.

I have been a member of midtown for 3 years. The facility is well kept and clean. The equipment is consistently maintained and there are a good variety of classes. The instructors are knowledgeable and make the classes enjoyable. Specifically Melinda, she brings incredible energy, seamlessly shows proper form and gives cues without missing a beat. She keeps it fun with variety and humor while still challenging us. Highly recommend!

I’ve been coming to midtown for about a year now. The Club gets a 4 star. Blinds are needed in the weight room upstairs…sun is blinding. My trainer, Adrianna has been great! She’s 5 star. I’ve been working with her since I joined. She’s fun, interactive, motivating, and pushes me to accomplish my goals. She listens to my concerns and what I’m looking to achieve, is great at working around my injuries, and puts together workouts that help me learn and focus on all of the above. Definitely recommend!

Jenny, my strength training instructor, is the absolute best! She continues to keep us motivated, always challenging us with new and varied exercises! Also, she is very personable and knows our injuries, always trying to accommodate them and provides constant encouragement! We work as a group which is also a great way to hold us accountable to attend but also allows fun, encouragement and support! Additionally, she is a registered dietitian and educates us on nutrition that will promote muscle strength and a healthy lifestyle. Also, she is a great communicator and works with us to ensure we are following a consistent strength training regimen. She will readily adapts workouts and individualizes them as needed. Finally, she keeps us motivated with varying routines and instilling fun and social aspects into our training sessions!

If I were reviewing just my trainer Ryan Y., this would be a 5-star rating. I hate weight training and whenever I train with Ryan, I always wish I am strong enough to violently throw the medicine ball at him. I am sure he wishes the same, because he is a good trainer and just truly wants the best for me! I am lucky to have been matched with Ryan almost a year ago, because he is able to get me to come to the gym and submit myself willingly to an hour of punishment. I know my bone mass will thank me in my old age. The gym is great and I love going there to work out and hang out. But in the summer, the pool gets overrun by children that it's almost unusable for an adult wanting to peacefully swim laps outside. I think the gym's focus are families and if you are easily annoyed by children, this is not a place for you. I realize the gym is a gym but I find myself having to work there sometimes and there is no place there to take a work call decently. Given the shifting work styles, I wish they can create space for that like what they are doing in Palatine (or even just stop playing music in the couch area). Finally, if you are not connected to a tennis coach, it is impossible to get scheduled for a private tennis lesson. I have been trying for the longest time with no luck. If you also are not committed to staying up until midnight when they release schedules for tennis courts and classes, it's impossible to get court time when you want them.

Midtown is fantastic! It’s this massive wellness sanctuary with everything one could think of. You can spend 30 minutes and get an amazing workout, or alternatively - can easily spend an entire day here to work, enjoy lunch in the restaurant, or in the summer - chill by the pool (highly recommend their frozen cocktails!). My favorite thing about Midtown is my trainer, Grace. She goes above and beyond in every way. She’s kind, knowledgeable, encouraging - and is *always* incredibly prepared for each session. She doesn’t just walk through each session together, but teaches *how* to best workout, so I can apply this to when I workout solo. I’m the strongest I’ve been, and it’s because of Grace’s partnership! I highly recommend Midtown and their personal trainers!

I can't recommend my trainer Danny M highly enough. I've been training 1 x week for the past three months, and have noticed a definite improvement in my strength and stamina. Best of all Danny makes each session fun - mixing up our exercises to keep it interesting and building on achievements so I can see progress. He's a pleasure to work with.
